After I do a hard reset, then reconnect my device, activesync thinks it is a different device...well, it picks one of 3 names...

WM_maverickps
HTC_8900
HTC_TyTn_II

So somehow it got 3 different "relationships" in it's mind. This creates havoc when trying to sync/restore my documents and files.

Anyone know a what I have to do to make it pick one and stick with it?

That happens to me too i think theres an option that you can delete them
just delete the ones you don't want and sync should work fine

kinda found a fix...

On my computer you can't delete a activesync partnership without first connecting to the device, then disconnecting...

Because when you click "File-->Mobile Device" only one of the 3 names would show up...but you know they are still there...

so what I did was:
Round one: ActiveSync calls device HTC-8900

1) connect device
2) go thru normal activesync process
3) disconnect mobile device
4) click "File--> Delete Mobile Device"
5) log off/on windows
6) hard-reset device
7) after hard reset, before first sync, on phone goto "Start--Settings--System--about" and Name the device to HTC_TyTN_II
8) plug in, go thru activesync new partnership, after first sync now u can go to step 3 of this loop

And repeat each time to remove the old partnerships. There MAY BE an easier way to do this, but it freaking sucks.

You can find the windows registry area that lists all your partnerships, even though they may appear to be invisible in activesync here...

HKEY_USERS\S-1-5-21-1534184335-3658833746-3301443389-1004\Software\Microsoft\Windows CE Services\Partners

I stole the info from THIS USEFUL SITE (http://www.pocketpcfaq.com/faqs/activesync/partnerships.htm)

Now just make sure that before your first ActiveSync after flashing a new rom / hard resetting, rename your device first to the existing partnership name.

I bet there is still another sync relationship registry key in outlook somewhere, but I think this is good enough for now.
