Extracted this earlier today. I have it working on my Tilt it looks pretty damn cool. Here are the updated features that I have noticed:

- Improved traffic information
- New maps
- Shared Map corrections
- Automatic zoom enabled/disabled
- Improved interface for qvga, now available for vga as well.

Here is the link for the original version QVGA:

If it is not working on your device try these repack versions: credit to rab and piz

***MOD EDIT***
Please do not discuss where to get maps here, this is the app only, no maps. TT6 maps will not work with TT7. Discussion of where to get maps other than TomTom.com is considered warez and will get you a 1 way ticket to BANsville!

Sweet! I got it installed on my tilt (running dutty rom.. wm6.0 ..etc). I didn't try using the .cab directly, but instead, i used winzip to extract .cab, renamed the files as specified in the setup.xml, and manually copied it over to my tilt.

The program launches, picked enligsh, the jane voice, and up to the point where it says oyu have no maps. while activesynced, it'll bring up IE and let me download a free map of my choice. (they're small city specific maps u can choose from..).

Once downloaded, it lets u choose where u want to install the map (choose my SD card). Restarting tomtom and its all going well =) Im a happy camper.. TT7 has been LONG overdue...

GPS works off the bat, tomtom is listed at version 7.450, the map i downloaded was version 715.1732!

well i only had an opportunity to take a few screenshots and have it operate for about 1 minute cause my battery was dead, which was about 20hrs ago. Really haven't had an opportunity to hit the road with a full battery yet.

It appears to look nicer, thats all I can say for now. I am sure someone else will post more about it before I have the opportunity to.

Need to go to sleep now I have work in a few hours.

Hi,

Installed and working on a T-Mobile MDA Compact 3.

It does use up a lot of storage memory though (about 12mb) for the install.

I have removed it again as it only leaves me with 2mb storage left.

Will wait until I get the MDA Compact IV before revisiting this.

tt7 allows you to fix any map errors, which is a cool feature.

another cool feature I recognized it has a directory of phone numbers for POI's.

I've installed the free map and it says I can get maps from

http://europe.htc.com.gpsmaps

Don't know if that helps but give it a whirl.

It also gave me a code to use for discounted maps, but I assume that you'll need the code for any purchase and I assume its device specific so I can't tell you mine, but if you install the free map you should get it.

How? According to tomtom home2 my purchased Scandinavian map is the latest v6.75. And also according to TomTom home 2 it's not compatible with TomTom 7. Where on tomtom.com can i purchase newer maps?

Which model do I choose on http://www.tomtom.com/products/maps/select.php ?

There is no Navigator 7 or HTC Diamond option.

Hi,

You have two ways to buy maps, the first one, is on the tomtom web site, but the problem, is that you can't select tomtom navigator 7 in the software list because it doesn't exist... The other way is via tomtom home, you buy maps and tomtom home installs them on your device...

For those who wants to take the maps from there tomtom go, it's not possible because the map is registered for the device and not a other one. But I think you can copy the map and then purchase the rights via tomtom (you pay, give your device number, and activate...)

OK. this works on my P3600i using one of the free taster maps.
As it is showing as version 7.450 it "should" be compatable with all TT version 7 maps. All we need now is for someone to buy one and let us know....lol.

Some interesting strings found into the exe :
http://htc-citymaps.tomtom.com/v7/
http://htc-citymaps-test.tomtom.com/v7/
http://www.tt1.nl/citymaps/
The first and last url seem to be used to fetch maps from the device. My opinion is that if you go there with the right User Agent, you'll be able to get the same feature than with the PPC.

Its just Like TomTom6. TomTom 6 Gave you A "taster" version.Which is a full version without maps, voices (you get a free voice or two), and no TomTom Plus features. I would say that the TomTom7 Is the similar set up.

Hi,

Installed and working on a T-Mobile MDA Compact 3.

It does use up a lot of storage memory though (about 12mb) for the install.

I have removed it again as it only leaves me with 2mb storage left.

Will wait until I get the MDA Compact IV before revisiting this.

Regards

Hi,

Managed to copy the whole installation to the SD card, so will play with it with the free city map. Managed to use my custom colour schemes from TT6 too (just copy the schemes directory over to TT7 Navigator directory).

My Speed camera warnings also copy over but unfortunately the data.chk file does not work so no voice warnings (though I am sure someone will be able to work this one out).

Not sure if there is any way to change the cursor to a custom car yet. Any ideas?

Me too. I just let it remove it. I payed for 6, so I have the disk. Now, I will delete the maps, and reload them to see if it will use them. There is nowhere I saw that has ver. 7 maps. The new interface is cool, but I cant find how to disable the auto-connect to the web:confused:

thanksDownloaded perfectly. Had to find the "free" voice (Kathy) to download in the list at TomTom. The URL couldn't be opened to get other maps. It said that it couldn't be found. And... as I could download ONE free map, it made me choose a state and city. So, I only have my city. I was hoping to get a larger area map, like a US map or atleast a Midwest map. I wasn't expecting my toun only! But as soon as I can find out how, I would like to download a US map!

That magician vs. Kaiser youtube video demonstration which showed how slow the kaisers gps software playback was that every1 was talking about with the kaisers driver issues was deffinetly not an issue with me when i just went cruising today and tested this software out....the turn by turn directions and navigation arrow moved through the streets very smooth and there was no slow playback like how i saw in that Magician vs. Kaiser video. Maybe this Tom Tom isa newer version and specifically ment for the kaiser and diamonds newer Ms7200 chipsets and whatever version of tom tom was being used in that youtube video was a very incompatable version of TT for the Kaiser....i know theirs some people that agree with me...this version of TT is SMOOTH SAILING

Installed this on my tilt & having no love with the gps. Any clues guys? It just sits there saying "No GPS Device" whether I use "Built-in GPS receiver" or "Other NMEA GPS receiver" w/ com4/4800baud settings.

I've closed TT7 & fired up other gps-using software and all of them seem to be able to use the gps.

Edit: It looks like Tom Tom requires that your leds work. I had to re-enable leds in the registry:

HKLM/Drivers/BuiltIn/AllLEDMgr/Index=0x01

Dunno why it requires it on my Tilt, but it seems to be the only way I got Tom Tom to work. All other GPS apps seem to be fine w/ leds off.

Thank you big time mateys! I certainly gained a new appreciation for tomtom navigation software here. I downloaded a ton of different voices from the tomtom app itself over the phone. This provides about 20 minutes laughter!!:p

Like everyone else..I got my home map alone. Still determing whether there are more maps available for purchase by reading here and so on. This post grew quickly!!

first off try downloading another satelite reception data through quickgps...and make sure u do this evry two ,three days if u use gps alot...then in your external gps
settings...make sure the program port is set at COM4 and your hardware port set at (none) and baud rate 4800 and make sure the box for checking gps settings automatically is checked then try a soft reset after u do all these before us start TT again. Doing these settings got a quick fix on my gps and everytime i load TT7 it automaticaly shows my exact location...then i begin my searching and direction finding.

Try this out...if this doesnt work ...keeep the same setting but choose tor eset the default settings in TT7 in the options/settings section then soft reset and try again

The Models that are allowed to use this app are hardcoded in the TomTom Navigator.exe

You would need to modify that file, and have it be signed for it to work

Hex Editing it to support the TITAN by adding TITA100 was not successful.

HAH! Deleted my post just because I said the truth! Hypocrites!

your post was deleted because you sir are an idiot.. a cooked rom isnt warez, if you have purchased a kaiser/tilt/tytnII, etc then you have already paid for a wm6 and wm6.1 license. 2nd of all, this version of TomTom is a "taster" version, just like the version of tt6 that came with. This "taster" version was made for HTC phones in particular. This app would be warez if it came with maps, and it doesnt. The taster version is a marketing tool by TomTom. They let you install it and download a free map in hops that you will like the app so much that you will buy the rest of the maps you need!

So please, quit posting about things you dont know about! Also do not reply to this as its way off topic from the subject of this thread. IF you still think your right then you are more than welcome to pm me.

no offense, this version was pulled from the diamond. My boss brought it back from Euro as a gift for performing well during the minister's party. Taster possible, but when it was in my hands every country, state, or province was available, if I took it back from him for an hour and extracted those maps that were included within his device would it be warez even though it was directly out of an HTC box?

edit: Although I haven't asked him or really looked at the diamond box, is there an executives version of this device out there? If so, would the executives version come equiped with all maps? I was intrigued to discover that he had a complete map on his device, which is why I stopped working at 8am two days ago to play with it and take the necessities to share.

edit2: does anyone have the new iPhone? TomTom is compatible with iPhones now. It would be interesting to see if this cab installs on the iPhone.

edit3: Actually I do not want to get involved with executive versions of this device software if they are available because I do not own one and I am getting way over my head. I respect this forum and I should follow everyone's wishing.

i have just installed tt7 and home 2.3. In October last year i purchased maps for my Go910. Whilst browsing tomtoms site i found a statement that you are only allowed to change your product code (device) once every 6 months. Seemed a strange thing to state, unless it meant u could transfer purchased items to other devices. I installed home 2.3 on a new pc (not the one i used for the 910), plugged in my kaiser, and it listed my purchased 910 map and the version i had used for tomtom v6. The map for the 910 had been downloaded in october, but did not appear to have an activation code. So... i downloaded it from tomtom, installed it, and it works! so if your maps are older than 6months, you may be able to use them but only if you can still download them from your tomtom account.

First of all thanks for the cab. I installed it on my Tilt and downloaded my local map from tomtom.com, works fine. I like the new interface and fast tracking, I see the arrow moving fast without much lag when drive. Even the recalculation time is relatively very short compared to TT6 and Garmin, which can be handy when driving in downtown areas.

But TT7 still does not say whether your destination is on the right or left side of the street, this can be a hassle when you travel on a broad street with 2 or more lanes each side. It is a small gripe but more than 2/3 year old Garmin does have this function.

For now, I will stick to Garmin.

cheers, thanks again.

sry bro but ive tried the garmin software on a PPC and the TOM TOm 7 version is far superior with the functionality it gives you. All navigation have turn by turn direction but TT7 tells you the distance till arival, speed you are traveling and how fast the speed limit is on that exact road so you wont get caught speeding (thought this was really handy tool, i set my alert to the cow mooing when i go over the speed limit so that a pig wont catch me with his radar detector lol, also accurate voice navigation and you dont need a navigation software to tell you what side of the street your POI or destination is because it tells you exact location so when you get to the location you would obviously see which side of the street that its on...but actually on this version of TOMTOM7 when your looking at the navigation map window with the pointing arrow it actually does show you which side the point of interest or location you want to go to is on. Im pretty sure you showed which side of the street the Gas station and restaurannt POI's where on atleast, just take a better look when you are navigating somewhere and check the street name...sounds like just plain lazyiness to me

Just installed on my Trinity and Kaiser, It installs perfectly to my storage card on both devices and it leaves TomTom 6 alone so I can switch between both versions as I have all of Europe and Usa maps for version 6 and only London for version 7. Tom Tom 7 is still placing Poi's in the wrong places they are out by as much as 500 yards not even on the correct road in a lot of instances. If anyone knows how to change the arrow pointer to a photograph or how to read documents on V7 please let me know. Also TT7 now has roads correctly named in London TT6 had a lot of roads named wrong but I think this was deliberate so that TT would know when its maps had been copied. I will use TT7 as a test to see how updated there directions are as TT6 used to make some dreadful mistakes in London trying to make you do illegal turns and go the wrong way down one way streets.
By the way in London I only use TT for looking up the odd road name for directions I use my Knowledge as a London Cab Driver. TT7 has a feature where users can update and correct the maps for others to use, I will see if I can do this when I come across errors.
Thanks for the new version.

Just been reading another site about TT7, and the guys opinion is that TT7 is a cut down version and not as good as TT6. he seems to know what he's talking about as he is a dealer. And no I will not give any one his site details as he might be selling illegal versions of TT7.

I am now using TT7 and have had TT6 for as long as it was out and to be honest...TT7 is much better IMHO. It is faster to lock onto sats and has better signal strength than I even had with TT6. It can be customised (changing the arrow to a pic - see TT site for details) and it uses the latest maps which was the biggest problem with TT6.

All you can do is try it for yourself....if you don't like it....delete it and find one you do like.

Is there a way to buy TTS voices for TomTom7? I poked around but didn't see anything.

Thanks

TT7 for PPC doesn't have TTS...not enough memory to run it. On the PNA models it doesn't work on the ONE and ONE-XL, apparently it needs 512meg Ram to operate TTS....bit of a bummer actually...would be a nice feature to have.

Ripped from "some website.."

For custom cars..

1. create an art folder in the root "TomTom" folder and inside that, create a "cars" folder
-program files-tomtom-art-cars
2. Select the digital image you’d like as a car icon;
3. Convert it to a 256-color bitmap file;
4. Size it such that it’s between 24 x 24 pixels and 128 x 128 pixels.
It has to be square or it won’t work;
5. “Erase” any imagery you don’t want to appear by coloring it red (RGB 0,0, 255) (RGB 255,0,0)
6. Put your bitmap image in the subfolder “cars” found in the “art” folder that you created.. I found a nice monster truck.

Alternately, just google custom tomtom icons.. :)

Out.

OK, I'm almost ready to go ahead then. One last question for the serial flashers out there. Does the device code change on a rom upgrade? If it does, how do you manage (or shouldn't I ask)?

the tomtom device code will be the same after flashing with a new rom, but don't expect to be able to use your tt6 maps.

the version of tomtom is a taster edition. the app is useless without maps. TomTom makes money on this app by giving you the program and selling you the maps. The maps require a valid key before you can use them... so without the proper maps that you bought then this app is useless.

Guys...you really gota read the thread or search.
TT7 for PPC uses exactly the same maps as TT PNA does. If you purchase the latest TT map from the TT website it will work.
All TT maps have been exactly the same for PPC and PNA from version 5 of PPC until now. That is the major advantage with TT7....you can use the latest maps rather than a 12 or 18 month old map.

I have been trying to install the both versions of the CAB available in this thread.

The original version available in the first thread just gets stuck at installing. The other version which is the EN version actually asks me where to install it but then gets stuck at installing.

Could someone make out like I don't know much about computers and tell me what I have to do to install this on my kaiser/tytnii?

should install without a problem. All you need to do is transfer the cab file via activesync to your kaiser then run the program. I have no idea why your device is crashing during installation. How long is it getting stuck for? and what do you do to make it unstuck?

Improvements
Muting of Voice directions when incoming call (on BT headset).
Audible speed alert (switchable)
Faster screen updates and smoother.
Superior sattelite signal over TT6
Customisations for car symbol.
Map corrections.
Last and most important.....uses the most recent maps.

All of the above make it a wothwhile upgrade IMHO.

Personal choice I guess...I tried IGO8 and while it had some good features...the one I really wanted didn't work (TTS)...plus it sucked so much memory my phone crashed if a call came in. Granted I use a P3600i so the TyTN II (Kaiser) may not have this problem.
Also the 3D buildings etc didn't work for Australia and I couldn't pick a nifty voice (such as John Cleese) like I can in TT.

My choise of TT is the fact that it has a simple easy readable map. It may not look flashy but with TT I can put a quick half-second look on the screen and get all the information. IGO is way too complicated to read any information while standing still at a red light without using 4-5 seconds on the TYTN2:s small screen. Maybe it´s just me being slow but thats the facts for me.

Tomtom 7 on Diamond (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=401619)

There are some screen grabs on the first page, version, menu etc.

Post #111 references a work around for buying the maps legitimately and getting them working, so there should be no reason for anyone trying to source maps via warez because "they're not available".

And post #111 would be my post so I quote it here to, a legitimate way to buy maps of Tomtom and get them on your device running the legitimate Tomtom taster, no modifications:

I created an account on www.tomtom.com and registered my Kaiser as a TomTom GO720 (as PDA with v7 software doesn´t exist as an option yet) but with my device ID. I bought a map (Scandinavia ~40Euros) and it was added to my account. After that I installed Tomtom to my device, plugged it into activesync and installed Tomtom Home 2.3 and selected the memorycard as device. Logged into my account and it got me an error saying my version af navigator wasn´t supported, cancelled that and selected Add maps etc. The map I just bought showed up and loaded itself into the SDcard of my Kaiser.

Works perfectly and it was activated already due to the fact that I registered my device ID online when I bought the map. Even works with mapshare.

i would have to agree that ttn7 for ppc is a cut down version of tt7 for pna. there are several missing features, one such feature is the automatic map color switch between day and night color map, which the pna capable of doing while it is not possible in the ppc version. however, it is a much improvement over ttn6. routing is much better. i tried to route several route that im familiar with and tt7 gets the most ideal route while tt6 did not. with newer map, mapshare feature, and better routing improvement, tt7 is a big improvement over tt6.

and respond to the last post. tomtom navigation software is the only software that predict 1/2 and 1 full second ahead, so it give you much better navigation experience while other gps software lag 1 second behind real time.

This what I did....

1. Already had TT6 installed from the DVD.
2. Went to TomTom.com and changed my device to the GO720, your PPC code should already show up, leave the same code in the box.
3. Buy the new maps for the GO720.
4. Upgrade TT home to V2.3.
5. Plug your phone in, TT home should say you have map updates, start the download.
6. Get coffee, coke, beer or favorite beverage, this is gonna take a while!
7. Let TT home install the updates.
8. Uninstall TT6, bear in mind this doesn't touch the contents of the storage card, so everything is still on the storage card.
9. Install TT 7, start TT7 and you should have your new TT 7 with whatever map you purchased.

Being doing this for a while, very tired, hope I covered everything...

Ripped from "some website.."

For custom cars..

1. create an art folder in the root "TomTom" folder and inside that, create a "cars" folder
-program files-tomtom-art-cars
2. Select the digital image you’d like as a car icon;
3. Convert it to a 256-color bitmap file;
4. Size it such that it’s between 24 x 24 pixels and 128 x 128 pixels.
It has to be square or it won’t work;

Out.

cool!! will try this later

I am not sure what you mean, I have a P3600i and my screen etc is the same size it was with TT6.....text is fine etc. In preferences there is an option to turn automatic zooming on or off for the driving display, other than that I don't think anything is wrong with the display.

Anyone know how to enable Text-to-Speech in TomTom 7. I know the initial answer will be "There is no TTS in TT7!". However...the v715 maps come with TTS files prefixed with cspeech_ and taking a quick peek inside TomTom 7 with a dissassembler shows that there is code to access these TTS "cspeech" files.

I'm pretty sure that the cspeech files are for voice recognition, not text to speech.

Same here....no lag at all...it all seems to be pretty smooth. What is your GPS signal strength like?
Also check how much available memory you have...depending on your device it could be running low.

Hi,

How did you get MapShare to work?

In Tom Tom home it says it is not supported on my Map (GB & Ireland) or device.

Hi all,
great job for the port.
I use it on a Kaiser.
I can see some difference with tt6 on this device:
- tt7 is realy faser to calculate a path :)
- tt7 lock satellites more faster :)

I have a a question:
- How to declare I have à tt7 on the tomtom.com site?
- How to use map share with this release? Tomtom home always says that my version is not compliant with map share....

I use the Western Europe map v720.1803 and TomTom Home isn't complaining.
He just updates everything.

Works like a charm.
In the TomTom services menu on your PDA, it can also be updated.
I could also update trough there, with my wifi connection.

I also had the problem that tomtom HOME wasn't accepting my device.
That was because tomtom installed itself in "device root/internal memory/navigator/" and tomtom home tried to find it in "device root/program files/navigator"

After I copied the tomtom files from the "internal memory" folder to "program files" it was fixed and mapshare now also works! The only downside is that you can't start tomtom with the quicklink on the today screen.

But that's no problem for me because I use an app for mobile speedcams that i start first and then tomtom is started automatically.

I hope this helps you.

ps. sorry for my english

If you have a bunch of custom POI cateogires enabled to show on the map then this will really slow down the screen update and make TomTom jerky. Try disabling all of your custom POI (built-in POI is fine).

Funny, you want to register an illegal copy of a software with the vendor?!?

As stated so many times before in this thread.....TT7 itself IS NOT ILLEGAL....as long as the Maps are aquired legally (purchased from Tomtom) then why wouldn't you wish to use the Mapshare function.

If you don't wish to use this software...fine...but don't make unsubstantiated remarks about other posters

And the new North America/Canada map actually contanis my home address. Version 6 did not. Overall feel is better. It's a keeper I can now delete my version 6 stuff off of my phone. TomTom has done well.

I installed to the programme file as you explained, TT7 mapshare started, which it hasn't done before but then informed me my device was not compatible, so I still cannot access mapshare.

Today Monday I used TT7 in London on my TyTn 11 and it performed just as good as TT6, I didn't experience any lag with the moving cursor but there again I didn't with TT6 either.
I also had my Trinity with me and TT7 installed on that definetly had a lag problem, I think I will continue to use TT7 for now just to see what crops up that might be different, besides I like the look of the screen colour now compared to TT6.

I have two lots of TomTom maps (bought from TomTom). I have the 6.75 Western Europe and the 720.1803 UK and Ireland maps. I've read in this post that it's possible to use the 6.75 maps with TT7 but they are not showing up on my list of maps in the application. Can anyone give me a definitive answer on whether the 6.75 maps should work and whether I need to do anything special to achieve this?

So this version doesn't support the lane guidance feature of the 8.x maps then?

I'm pretty sure that the cspeech files are for voice recognition, not text to speech.

Perhaps...but still...the TomTom Navigator.exe file for Pocket PC references Loquendo TTS (Text-To-Spech). Loquendo TTS is the same text to speech engine used in Igo8 for PPC. Loquendo TTS is also the same engine used to provide TTS in TomTom 7 PNA.

So I'm almost convinced the code to perform TTS is inside, but disabled for PPC. Probably some licensing thing with Loquendo.

The question has been asked in this thread but I did not see an answer.

I assume that TT7 does not announce street names just like TT6 did not.

TomTom Home gave me errors until I moved the Navigator folder from internal storage to programs.

So I have a login account with tomtom where I specified my device as a Go 720. I fire up TT Home, click login, have the Navigator folder moved and viola, it asked me if I wanted to join mapshare. Works like a champ.

It is more a function of available RAM. TTS does not work on the TT ONE or TT ONE XL either. all the other devices it works on have 512 meg of RAM.
