I was playing around with my Pidgin/Manila theme for PocketCM (found here (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=2270649#post2270649)) and wasnt satisfied, so I decided to upgrade it a bit..
I am starting a new thread to make it easier and simpler to find, since the preview image is so large on the post of the first version (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=2270649#post2270649) it would get too confusing..

anyway.. here is what I came up with!

...preview does not include Segoe UI as font (it is a preview of v23 version, I have not updated it to show v25.. improvements are listed below, but Segoe UI looks much cleaner, very crisp...

As you can see when comparing this version to the last the contact page is cleaner, there are alphabetical separators and the topbar has been changed.

UPDATED FOR V.24 of POCKETCM
I have also attached Segoe UI font... truly makes this theme look much better (if you do not install the font, I am not sure how it will look, some of the placement of text may be slightly off)
for this theme you really only need segoeui (regular) and segoeuib (bold).. just place them in your \windows\fonts folder on your device!
..the font segoeuiz=Segoe UI Bold and Italic..

improvements for v.24 version:
..customized for Segoe UI font (works even if you dont have Segoe... but Segoe makes it look much better)
..made it compatible with v24 contacts (mostly image support)
..customized background color for new flip animation
..few other slight tweaks

Upon request here is a version with numbers hidden in contact view (the zip called no numbers) - when contact is highlighted the number will be there, but it is hidden when scrolling through

smspicture uploaded... just as it says.. added picture to sms view, also contact phone number to sms view and mirror to contact picture in contact detail view.

Great theme.

But there is one thing that bothers me (that was the same with the previous version): when the dialpad is on and when I clic on one of the 3 buttons (#, 0 or C) it activates one of the buttons of the bottom line.

Sorry if it's not clear, but english is not my native language.

I understand..

the problem is that in order to be able to have the icons increase in size when pressed on, I have to make its pressable box be larger than its initial size. This means that the pressable box of the bottom row of icons is set under the three bottom-most buttons of the phonepad.

It shouldnt give you any problems though. All that happens is some of the bottomrow buttons will increase when you press #, 0 or C, but they will not be activated. At least not on my device.

Unless I change how the bottom row of icons look when pressed, I cannot really fix this. It is more of a graphical problem than funtional though so it is not too big of a problem. Also, if you press the very center of the #,0,C keys, this wont happen.

It's so much faster. I like it! I have a problem with this version though. the program closes itself and reopens every time I try to send a text message. It actually doesn't send anything. I'll press and hold for a few seconds and still nothing. Any ideas?

I have not experienced this. How are you trying to send SMS? Are you in the SMS threaded view and then just pressing the "SEND" button?

I know that if you go into options and have "use old app for sending SMS" activated then when you are in the contact detail of someone and press "SMS AND HISTORY" then it will close out of PocketCM temporarily so you can write a message with the default wm text messaging.

Is this the problem you are having?

yeah I actually noticed similar problems when sending messages... it seems to be this version of pocketcm..

I found that if I hold the send button once for 250ms (a short period) with the keyboard up it will minimize the keyboard and appear to have done nothing. At this point I found if I waited instead of continuing to press the send button that the sent SMS would then pop into the threaded view.

basically I think the only solution seems to just be to wait instead of continuing to press the send button.. or just press it once and then go back to contact view.

PocketCM uses the "File as" information from the contacts data. So if you want "First name, Last name", you have to change it there...
Afair, it's only editable since WM6 (and not in PCM), so you might have to do it in Outlook on your desktop PC.

Really nice skin. I do though have some problems. I use it on my HTC Diamond and have just installed the PocketCM software and followed your guide. The problem is that the skin doesnt fit the screen. E.g. the white boxes around the text is located outside the text so it doesnt fit.
Have I done something wrong?

nope, you havent done anything wrong..

htc diamond I believe is a VGA screen, which means it is twice the size in pixels from QVGA.. this theme is made for a QVGA screen.

I dont have a VGA screen to test on, so I cant really make this theme in VGA.. if someone with a VGA screen could create the settings.ini file needed, I could potentially redo the graphics!

my favorite skin for pocketcm...however in landscape mode there is a black square on the bottom bar between the sms and option button. Doesn't really bother me but would be nice if it was fixed. Been trying to find a fix through all the threads but unable to. I am using a mogul on the new sprint rom and pocketcm 0.24. Also if you would create two versions...one with the numbers under the names on the contact page and one without any numbers just names on the contact page. I think the numbers clutter the page and cause hurting to the eyes. However great page and i will make sure to donate for further developments.

in regards to having the ability to jump letters of names on the right of the screen as well, that should already be possible.. not sure why that isn't working for you.

and the landscape issue annoys me as well.. it seems to be a problem with the program.. I am still trying to find a fix and if I do will be releasing a new version to correct it.

and yeah, I will whip up a version with no second line under contact names

Sorry for the miscommunication...I am able to scroll through the contact letters by scrolling the right side of the screen. That function DOES work. But can't wait to get this theme flawless. Thanks to htctoucher and all of the individual developers. You guys put the wow factor into pocketpc's that microsoft always avoids.

i'm using pocketcm 0.24 and your corresponding theme
it is possible to scroll the screen with a thumb anywhere
but jumping to letters is possible just by pressing the capital letter in the separate black line at the beginning of the contacts starting with that letter
e.g. press 'B' and and go down to 'T'
i just tried it with the stylus to avoid thumb rough presses :)
i can make a video or debug or whatever is needed to solve this little issue ;)

ahh I see what you are saying.

But, try pressing on the very, very left or right of the screen, and you should see that you will be able to scroll through the letters of your contacts.

I have made the margins large enough so that you dont have to use the stylus to scroll through contacts.

Just experiment with how close to the sides you can get without scrolling through the contacts but to be able to scroll through by the letters, if that makes sense.

Put the zip file into My device/Program files/Pocketcm and from there open up the app and go into settings and select your theme.

first off, very beautiful theme! (using ur keyboard skin as well) so many thanks for all ur hard work.
I did find a bug tho n i read thru this thread to see if neone else had the same, seems im the only one.
The problem is when in sms view (im using v0.24 with sms view) the sms count is right on the picture.
Dunno y but when there r no contact pics the sms counter would be to the left more but when there is a contact pic the sms counter would move to the top of the pic.
Please let me know if im doing nething wrong.

First of all im very pleased but one addition that would be nice would be a bigger back button from the SMS thread. There is none right now but it would be more ergonomical especially for people with big finger. Also somebody should look into fixing the black square on the bottom row in landscape mode. Otherwise I love the theme and will continue to use.

the problem is that I made it slightly to narrow before.

In terms of the black box, I sent the theme to tene (the guy who made this application), and am waiting to hear from him on whether or not he will have a fix!

I can see what I can do, but it might be a while.. PM or post here the color blue you are looking for or trying to match.

ahh, woops.. I never have contact pictures in contact list view, or message count, so I never look at that. I will fix that in next release (soon).

I copied them first to \Windows\Police\, cause I didn't get a \Fonts\ subfolder. No chance.

I dont know what "police" is, but on my device there is a \windows\fonts folder, and I just dragged it into there. Are you sure you dont have this folder?

if you dont, maybe try just putting it in your \windows folder?

I love the black and gray but it would be really nice if you would make a black and gold theme.....Im a Purdue Student and I'm theming my phone to a boilermaker theme. Would make things awesome. However I realize that themes use hexadecimal so maybe this would be harder than I thought. The purdue gold is sort of an old gold. I would definately donate if this would happen.

htctoucher, your skins are excellent. I like this version a lot. I also encountered the same problem as stated by others:

1. segoe font not supporting chinese - remove them from system and chinese text are displayed correctly again. Also, no impact to the display of the pocketcm.

2. contact detail header show %firstname %lastname. I find this strange because it was showing correctly with the default skin. When I edit the contact and click ok without making any change, the header is showing correct name for that particular 1 contact again.

3. SMS progress. I'm not sure what is the reason you've decided to work around the progress bar. But I find it useful to know that we have clicked the Send button correctly and that the message is being sent. possible to do a version with progress bar? may be make use of the character count box?

*** Edited again: *LOL* I checked the default dream theme and found that it does not shows the transparency picture correctly either. Only the black theme "does" because the background is black. So I also removed the 1 feedback I have for this theme. The theme is does great !!! ***

and yeah, I have been meaning to update this skin, I have just been working on my wm7-inspired theme mostly.. but now that is done, I will update this

I will be putting in progress bar, and most likely adding contact picture into sms view (to normal version.. small in the bottom right hand corner just above the send button).. I like that feature as well.

**will not be able to do fit bubble to text with this theme.. the bubbles are specifically made to be a certain size.. plus I think it is classier and more organized to have them all the same size**
...I also probably will put in a scrollbar in filterlist, sms view, options panel (which I will tidy up and reorganize/skin), contact edit panel (which I also will be skinning more thoroughly) - you can see a preview of what it will probably be laid out like in my new wm7 update here (v3):http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=2453474#post2453474, but no scroll bar in contact view (gets in the way)

I don't know instead of the gray background maybe a gold......I good balance of both as long as the text is still easy to read. I like the white text. Also I was wondering if you could get rid of the numbers in the context screen completely like in the EDS iphone theme. I was trying to do it myself but I am inept when it come to theming and programing. I tried to simply change some of the hexidecimal characters in the settings of you theme and the whole thing crashes (leave it to the pros) ill attach a picture of the purdue logo so you can get a good idea of the colors. I appreaciate it because I love this theme and i've been waiting for the update. The train would also be cool as a send button but hey thats going to far.

How do you go about changing anything inside of the theme as far as pictures. I love this theme but i wanted to change the incoming text bubbles to green. I photoshopped all of the appropriate images inside of the theme but when I try to implement the theme into the program, it always reverts back to the old image. I almost seems as if the theme is cached in the program itself after you load it once. No matter what I change the pictures to it always seems to revert back to the original images inside of the theme. I've been trying to change some things around to customize your themes the way I like them but it doesn't seem to work. Please share you knowledge on the subject.
