Hey,
I was having issues with my cellphone before w/ my antenna saying "RIL API Failed" so I'd sent it into pocketpctechs.com. I had to pay about $100 even though the phone was under warranty, they'd made up some excuse to charge me.
The device worked for about a month and it started acting up again. It randomly started disconnecting me from my network saying "USSD message sent out fail. After I got that message the phone would reconnect back to the network, then about 5 minutes or so later it would disconnect, then the phone function would not turn back on at all until I didd a softreset. This all happed with in 5 minutes intervals making my phone useless.
I called my service provider (T-Mobile) about the issue to confirm if it was an issue with them, and it was not.
Now sometimes my phone takes 15 minutes to start and it starts with the Phone off. When I try to use the phone, it says "A wireless antenna must be attached to use this function". (Or something of that nature).
The phone would operate and start up normally when I would press the back part of my phone where the antenna is. But when I let go, the phone part would start to act up. So, I concluded that this was an issue with my antenna connecting to th pins on the main board. (see pictures below)
I poped openthe back to see what was up. To my surprise I found that pocketpctechs's job was very unprofessional. They simply hotglued a pin on the mainboard and soldered a wire from the pin to and connector on the mainboard.
Ignoring that, I looked at the antenna portion. It looks like that the pins dmaged the golden antenna. I'm not sure what the antenna is. It looks like golden foil. For a bit I used foil (normal tin foil) inbetween the antenna and the pins and the phone would work for about 10 minutes and after that it would say I have connection but when I tried to use any features that used the antenna it would freeze the phone and say "USSD message sent out fail".
So I've taken the phone apart again and am sitting here with this deliema. Does any body know how I can fix this issue or buy a replacement antenna?
