untouchable,
I downloaded your latest version from Connect-UTB, but booting on my DIAM100 always gives me:
mmc0:new MMC card at adress 0001
MMCBLK0 : mmc0:0001 000000000 392323425kb (size = good)
mmcblk0: unknown partition table
and then it hangs... ?
Try Rebooting first

pfff...it's the old keyboard used for the old init.. Now the keyboard is hidden and this blue dot was maked to drag the keyboard...read this forum before posting please..And i know it's not very easy because there were a lot of stupid questions like that..Now, remember that android is in early stage of developement, and absolutely not a daily use OS, so this blue dot isn't an important problem.
So: problem solved.

i've the same problem of THIS (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=3195632&postcount=1792)
same problem, I decided as follows:
1. took out the battery for 5 minutes
2. PW on, SoftReset + Vol down
3. reload rom & radio
4. full Hard Reset with internal storage

Hey, I've seen your couple posts explaining the problem you are having and had a couple ideas that may or may not work but are worth a shot I'd say. Since the problem seems to be involving power (battery, ac, etc) I'd recommend changing up the ways your device is using/getting power to see if affects the error you receive. First, try going into 'Power Settings' (Start --> System --> Power) and unchecking "When device is turned on, do not charge the battery when connected to the PC." Soft reset, connect through ActiveSync, run haret, attempt to boot Android. If that doesn't work, re-enable the option you just disabled, then remove the battery and run directly off USB power. Again attempt to boot Android in the usual fashion. Again I'm not promising anything, but I figured I'd throw a couple ideas your way in the hopes that maybe they'll help you. Cheers and good luck :)

Connect your phone via usb to your pc and use ActiveSync mode (not disk drive). Then use haret to start linux. It should continue then. It's in the FAQ (http://wiki.xda-developers.com/index.php?pagename=RaphaelLinuxFAQ).
Im not able to do that since I have a Mac and not windows, it booted once but just once and then not after that.

you may just try switching the phone to activesync mode and connect it anyway. Mine got stuck once and I just tried connecting it to a mac since I was not at home and it worked. It may have just needed to reboot though.

Hmn ... i've posted this problem elsewhere but now I think it's andriod related!?
Earlier today I ran andriod for the first time since I installed the AZTOR rom. It got stuck somewhere in the linux initialisation (cli) so after some 5 mins i gave up and hit the soft-reset. From that moment onwards pretty much 9/10 of anything i run (on winmo) gives me the "certificate error please reinstall" message, and any cab i run fails to install.
Is there a known way how to fix this w/o hard-reset? Or is hard-reset the only way?
Help me please!

Sers, SniperZoz
I had the problem too, I think it's a problem with AZTOR rom because I was getting the same error several times with different applications i tried to run.
So I don't think this problem is android related...
I'm now at aFast Rom which is also nearly stock and runs great at my device, baterry life is very good with this. ( nearly 4 days at normal use )
And yes, I think hard reset will be the only way o fix.

You are not installing anything yet, so Windows Mobile wont be touched. When launching Haret you only boot into a linux environment (and from there into Android) after shutting down Windows Mobile. When you reboot your phone, you are back into Windows Mobile.
When we get Android fully working, we might think about making an Android ROM or something, but for now, Windows Mobile wont go anywhere ;)

Ho did you manage to brick your diamond???? i have tried android hundreds of times and never had a problem.
also you dont need windows to place the device in active sync mode. mine asks me when i insert the cable what mode i would like. sometimes it decides not to so i have to go to start -> settings -> connections -> usb to pc and choose it in there (there is also a tick box to say 'ask me') when i connect the usb in active sync mode it comes up as another network device in ubuntu. i use linux 99% of the time although i dont really know enough to contrbute more :(

This is really weird. Its almost so weird that I suspect there is something else thats causing your problems.
The only thing you do is that you copy files your internal storage (so nothing is installed, no system files touched), and then you boot up haret which shuts down Windows Mobile. I dont know enough about how Haret works on low-level, so if it really was haret that killed your WinMo, it has to be related to the custom ROM you were running.
I know its not something you want to hear, but running custom ROM's is always a risk.

correct me if im wrong but i dont think android has killed WinMo since the early days of trying to mount the internal storage and geting the OS storage instead.
on a side note, i dont know how old/new the news is but htc now have 2 android phones http://www.htc.com/www/product/magic/overview.html
maybe there is something new in there we can make use of??? drivers etc??

I still have the 'unknown partition table' error on mmc0!
Anyway, it still continues, android boots (YEH!)
I get to main screen, but it's only alive for 10 seconds, then screen fades away and i have to reset.
Tried twice, can't keep it alive. Any ideas? It's such a bad looking 'fade' :)

You mean the screen times out? You can turn off the screen timeout in settings --> Display.. The screen may also fade if you hit then end-button (or in many cases, the right-button). You can solve this by using the Spare Parts app to map the end-key to "Home".

Anyone have look the exact specs of the G1 ?Wow, looks nice!! On the specifications page it's the same CPU, the camera and also the same amount of RAM as in our the Diamonds. We can only hope someone is able to dump the ROM once the phone is available somewhere. Also keep our fingers crossed that more of the hardware (like graphics, radio, USB, WiFi, BT, GPS) is identical with the Diamonds and or Raphaels =)...
Still a long way to go either way; navipad, hardware buttons etc. is different, but major progress have been made at that area so here's hoping!! Even though it's been quiet slow lately...

Well, I just got my laptop in so I had to get a new version of Linux, anyway, I downloaded the latest build from Connect-UTB and it was a corrupt zip file...downloaded it from another link and it seemed to work out great. Loaded it up on my phone and ran Haret without a single issue. Only took about a total of 30 seconds before I was at the "Clock".
I tested outgoing calls and it worked! So the radio does work, the only problem is there's no audio. I'm looking into contributing, but I don't know much about the MSM7201a, is the audio built onto that chip or is it on a seperate chip? I've searched but couldn't really find an answer.
I'm going to build a new version with Cupcake and see how far I can get with that.
One last thing, I want to try to wipe WinMo completely from this system, how can I upload a custom bootloader to this phone?

It should be the micro sd card, not the 'internal' memory. Either you have to change the msmsdcc_id in the cmdline in your default.txt (to 3 for example, see wiki) or your sd card is partitioned weirdly.
didnt this keyboard come in with the cupcake branch?? the android i have running on my diamond has the same looking keyboard
It first apeared in the cupcake branch. That branch has been merged into the master branch a while ago. The soft keyboard is now in master, cupcake, donut. (This is an Android thing though, not a Raphael / Diamond thing or even a linux thing.)

'This' is, as the thread title says, not yet working. Not functional.
There are only 2 things you can do: development on the kernel to support more of the hardware (aka 'make this work'), or 'play around a bit'. If it boots first time, its nice to play around. Otherwise its probably not worth spending time getting the current state on your phone (not even your own time..) unless you're interested in linux kernel development.
always any way to reduce the screen resolution on our device (Raphael or Diamond) ?
No. The kernel presents the phones frame buffer to Android to draw in. Its up to android (or any user gui) to just 'draw bigger'.

I can update you a bit.
We have moved on to 2.6.27 but are having problems getting everything working, especially the touch screen. Its apparantly only working when Android gets a call (for some reason).
Being on 2.6.27 gives us several benefits though, such as the ability to access a second memory bank, although I dont know the specifics regarding that.
So, progress has been made but the Touch-screen issue is really bugging, so hopefully, once we get that out of the way, we can race on!

Slightly difficult question, as it's impossible to say as we cant predict how the development will go. However, there isnt really any real reason it wont. It's basically just a matter of time.
So, no guarantees, but its absolutely possible, and I would even say its likely ;)

Ah, ok.. You say it keeps on going and going? Could you elaborate? Also, try changing your msmsdcc_id to 3. Hi guys, all respect for developers of this port, but what whole other community can do ? I think we can sing a petition to HTC and Google, that we demand android roms for devices that already on market, maybe it would be not full-suppoted rom, but rom with working loader and hardware drivers. We have XDA and much of android-fan sites in our own countries and even PDA oriented sites would help, so we can build pretty big community to sing our petition.
And its obvious that Google must be involved, they spent million of bucks on android-software contest, so why don't spend another couple of thousands to boost thier own platform to devices that already in users' hands ?
Lets try, what would we lose anyway ? :)

Cupcake has already been merged with the master branch. The newest builds for Android that are available through Connect-utb for example already includes Cupcake. (Try writing a new text message and you will see the new fancy on-screen keyboard)
If you were rather thinking of the HTC Magicians hardware, we will have to wait and see but the touch screen is different at least (capacative synaptics screen I believe) and I am pretty sure it wont help much. That said, I could be wrong ;)
Regarding what others can do, a massive demand for HTC to make Android ROM's is good of course, but sadly, I dont think it will work. They seem to be quite steady on running two separate product lines. The high-end Windows Mobile powered devices, and the lower-end (read: ugly) Android powered devices. :(

Off course, we have nothing to loose. That said, I actually personally asked the HTC Product Manager Scandinavia about this, and he was very clear
Hei!

For those of you who dont understand neither Norwegian nor Swedish (shame on you), I am basically asking about Android ROM's for existing HTC devices. He replies, saying: "Android and Windows Mobile are two different platforms/segments and it becomes complicated if those two get mixed in regards to upgrades, ec. Today, there are no plans to offer Android upgrades to existing HTC Windows Mobile products....

Not a chance. HTC and Microsoft have a deal for htc to use WM. Microsoft won't be happy if HTC allow installation of android in place of WM. This could open the door to direct comparison of both OS on the same hardware, and microsoft will never allow that.

Thank you for contacting our Customer Support Center. We are dedicated to providing you with the best quality service and answering all of your questions and concerns. You recently wrote us about an issue that you have encountered with To clarify your issue, you stated that: "hi I have a touch diamond and am trying to install the latest rom to ensure it is working at its best. the site tells me the rom is not suitable, however it is the rom for my device. also there are a large number of android devices now coming out with the same specification as the diamond. when will the android roms be available for my diamond? thanks Pete" Dear Pete, the ROMS on our website are only for HTC branded devices. Please, contact Orange if you need any software for your device. We are not releasing Android OS for the Diamond.

So you are suggesting that Google, force HTC to stop their relations with Microsoft, meaning they wont be able to have any Windows Mobile devices? Would suck pretty hard for them considering they just announced two awesome new phones running WinMo. WinMo, love it or hate it, but I personally believe that Windows Mobile 7 will be awesome, and if anything, HTC should be the ones producing the phones running it

I think, wm 7 will be nothing new, just like 6.5 or desktop vista, windows 7 .... just new interface ... maybe windows 7 is little faster when XP, but much uglier ... and vista is complete garbage ...
In wm 7 demos, i didn't see anything what not already implemented in SPB mobile shell or manila or pointUI.
But android - whole new world, there a cuple of revutionary things that can make software just awesome, like full data managment standardization, and integration anything with anything, no mater - proprietary or open, cuz interface is allways open and standard. And activity/intend/daemon standart differenciation helps manage memory usage/software development more effective.
We will never see such things in windows, ever.
So i think android is future, and not just for mobile and embeded devices, but maybe sometime it will come to desktops (netbook version already in development) ... but I CANT WAIT NO MORE !!! :)

Please tell us where you have seen Windows Mobile 7 demo's as it isnt even officially annouced and no details have been officially released. So I find it really hard to believe that you have seen any of it.
From what little leaked info there is, combined with some statements made in interviews tells us that Windows Mobile 7 will be something completely "new" in several ways. So who knows what it will bring with it.

As far as the Zips from Untouchable are concerned, it seems to depend on what program you use to unzip them. I use Winrar myself, but the version of Winzip from work unzipped them as corrupt.

I've noticed that when I have the corrupt problem, it's because the whole zip file was not downloaded. Using firefox to download, it does not know how big the file is so it doesn't give an ETA. The corrupt files for me were not the correct size. I normally use Winrar but windows vista's explorer also opened it with no problems.

No need to be rude, I just joined a little while ago, and I just saw this thread. I am not a developer. Excuse me for joining the off-topic-ness here...
The thread title says "Not yet working", in full caps.
If youre not a developer, or more to the point: if youre not here to contribute to getting completely working kernel, you should probably wait for 'it' to be 'working'. Of course its cool to finger around in Android, but since its not a working, functional solution yet, there is no point in putting resources towards getting to the point were some others already are. (Of course, reading the entire thread is a lot of effort, but at least it is your own. Bloating the thread contributes to it being a lot of effort to read it, and makes it more likely others will not read it either, and contribute to the chain reaction...)
Any post that says 'it doesnt work for me' in a thread that says 'not working' is pollution. Any post that says 'I have the same problem as some previous post' is pollution. Any thread that says 'android works on XYZ device' is by itself useless and therefor pollution. Any post that reports stuff thats already posted before in the thread or on the wiki (no audio ,messed up colors on raph800, sim pin, display timeout, ...) is pollution. (But then again, posts that say 'read the wiki, youre an idiot' are also pollution.) Any post that says 'when will it be ready, I hate windows' is pollution.
dcordes started this thread some 2345 posts ago in order to get a fully working linux kernel that exposes the entire device (and that Android can run on top of), not to get a non-working state on as many phones as possible.
Is has been suggested before to start a separate thread for 'support' and leave this one for 'development' but that would probably not help.
I realize that this post will disappear below the horizon within a day, but at least I will have had my rant. Again, sorry for occupying this spot that could have been a useful post.
Should you feel the urge to respond to this post, do so in PM as it is OT, unless youre dcordes and own the thread.

Hi All,
I've fixed the touch screen issue with android and the 2.6.27 kernel. It turns out the android power drivers have moved which are required for the TS to work properly which weren't being compiled in.
Anyway, edit the htcraphael_defconfig to fix it. It's the USER_WAKELOCK and WAKELOCK you need.

The new build is now posted.
Its nearly 18 days since the last build, and here comes a new one! The big news is that its now running on Linux 2.6.27 and that incomming calls now work (without sound or mic though). Do feel free to give it a go, and feedback would be very valuable (either on XDA or htc-android.com). Except a Diamond release soon too.. Download now (http://connect-utb.com/index.php?option=com_jdownloads&Itemid=58&task=view.download&cid=24)
You can also check for the new version using the Android config tool.
Also worth noting is that the package is no longer a .zip-file, but rather a verified .rar file. This will hopefully fix problems a few people were having with the downloaded file.
Enjoy!

I do not have a Diamond, but I suspect it shouldn't be too hard for someone who does have one. I understand you can use the scroll wheel (right?) so that means that we do get input from the touch pad. We already saw that the gpio matrix for the hard buttons is the same, so the only difference would be in the data for position on the left and right side of the pad.

what process did you do to get it to work on your raph100
Download here (http://connect-utb.com/index.php?option=com_jdownloads&Itemid=58&task=view.download&cid=24)
1 - Download the .rar file and extract the contents to your desktop. You should have a folder called tmp there now.
2 - Connect your phone to the computer with a mini-USB cable.
3 - copy the tmp folder to your memory card root. The tmp should then be located in [memory card]/tmp Inside the tmp folder is a boot folder. You may put that anywhere or
leave it in tmp.
4 - Disconnect the usb-cable and soft-reset your Touch Pro.
5 - Open up the file explorer, find the tmp directory and launch haret.exe and click run.
6 - Wait for android to boot up, and enjoy! At the first boot it takes a while before the android boot screen comes up and then the boot screen (with the glowing android) stays up quite long before you get to the boot screen.
Subsequent boots are faster.
If you follow this step-by-step, it should work without any hickups on your raph100

Hi guys,
After testing the last build, my compliments for the improvements!
- I was able to use the touch circle of my device, though it was little too sensitive, so the arrow keys were difficult to use. (And in snake, the snake moved down sometimes because of this touch)
- I was able to make a call, but I couldn't hear or say anything. Different from the build before, I was able to be called. It did take some time though before Android noticed it was being called.
- The phone does not crash anymore when using the back/red phone key.
- I was able to look into my pics, and browse through all music, though it took some time to load.
- The lights still do not work.
- The battery indicator doesn't work yet. :-(
Sorry for this short answer. I will update it on monday. I'm going out with some friends tonight, and tomorrow :)

the navipad is not correctly map on the diam100 (its correct on the Raph, but not on the diam).
But maybe J0b0 or balsat have fix that issue ?
c4software, you mentioned that the scroll wheel works. does the ring light up when you scroll it? (The other leds may just not light up because I don't get the correct position information, but as the wheel works, it should blink.)
- I was able to use the touch circle of my device, though it was little too sensitive, so the arrow keys were difficult to use. (And in snake, the snake moved down sometimes because of this touch)
Is that on a Raphael or a Diamond? If its a Diamond, same question about the ring flashing...?

It's not working for me on my Diamond. Within your HowTo on your side you describe that the first boot will take a while. I've waited for about 20 Minutes but the glowing Android never came and no further reactions in the command line.
Do you have any ideas?

This was on the Diamond. I will test it on all other functionality now. The ring did not flash. It was in the same rhythm as in Windows. So, after receiving an sms, it was flasing around. And when it was "charging" in Windows, this is still the same.

More including test report:
- Booting takes quite some time (About a minute if fast, about two if slow), and sometimes it doesn't boot at all, but hangs at some random place in the terminator after running Haret.
----- (If it boots at all. I tried to boot it severl times, got these results: (0=hang, 1=boot) 1-1-0-0-0-0-1-0-0. It seems to hang with the line "[ 0.010000] console handover: boot [htc_fb-1] -> real [tty0]".
---------- Update: It boots, but when it seems to hang, it just takes for about 5 minutes to load, and then it suddenly vibrates two times, and Android boots! :D
- I seem to be able to surf to Google.com one time. When clicking ANY link, or going to Google.nl, it says there is no connection found. Strange, but it does indicate GPRS starting to work. (?) (I must say it loads Google VERY slow, comparative to Opera in Windows Mobile)
- Clock works, finally. Seems to have taken the time from Windows Mobile :)
- It's still difficult to get the status bar at the top of the screen down, without a stylus.
- Camera doesn't work yet. It says "Place an SD card before using the camera." I can browse through all my files though, so this SD card has been placed, I guess.
- I had to soft reboot and reboot Android to get back to the home screen from the camera? The back buttons work everywhere, but not here.
- The touch scroll wheel works, though the lights of the complete pad do not.
- The buttons seem to work well. I can call using the green phone, end a call, using the red button. Shut down (Though this shutting down doesn't work well) by holding the red button. The "up" key seems to have changed to the Home key. Maybe make the up key the up key again, to get those little menus, so that the home key can get back to the home screen, like it should? In my eyes much better.
- In the main menu, the screen often does not respond to my finger. A program turns orange, but won't start up, before I press it several times, or use the stylus.
- The stylus is not yet being detected. The lights won't go on, like in Windows Mobile.
- The battery indicator still gives a question mark.
- The microphone and the speaker don't work yet.
- Sending and receiving messages works great.
- When activating Bluetooth, it says "Turning on", but it doesn't do much...
- Wifi doesn't work yet
- Sending and receiving MMS doesn't work yet...
- Connectbot doesn't even open, what is this supposed to do?
- SMS does not work fine. I get the messages back when I try to send them. Some error seems to have occured?
- Putting someone in wait when calling works :) The rest doesn't...
More to come, just a small update :)

Starting andriod while plugged into USB seems to have broken andriod, going to try copy folder over again. When in the andriod GUI it just keeps saying "andriod.com. has encountered an error. Force Close".
NM: Fixed by re-copying folder.

Well, it's been about 100 pages, but here's an update on what I've been working on, that is not yet in git (mostly for RAPH800, but some things affect other models too):
* Charger support - Switches between battery, AC (high-current), and USB (low-current), based on what is plugged in
* Preliminary battery support for raph800, and probably other msm7500 devices. Tried the capacity formula from htc-vogue branch, and it does not seem to work, so will need to find out what the correct formula should be
* SMD_DS support. This is the AT-cmd channel, which is not detected like all the other SMD channels on msm7500 (works fine on 7200/RAPH100, etc). I get regular signal quality status updates, and SMS notifications. Have not tried using EVDO/data yet.
* A lot of new clocks added to the API, with cr2's help. This affects hardware only (no, I'm talking about a new clock you can put on your snazzy android desktop...), but should be fundamental to getting new hardware like bluetooth working
* With a nudge in the right direction from orux, I've fixed up the board-htcraphael-panel file to add support for the Epson S1D13774 MDDI controller (the LCD panel). There's still something not quite right with it, as the screen appears shifted about 20 pixels to the left (left edge of screen shows up on the right side), but we are now able to go from a complete controller reset to almost what we have in CE/SPL (and Epson has docs!), so that's promising. RGB444/565 discrepancy is still there, which makes me think that either I haven't found the 565 mode yet, or there's something else wrong with msm_fb.
Will work on cleaning up the patches and get them into git in the next week.

[...] Within your HowTo on your side you describe that the first boot will take a while. I've waited for about 20 Minutes but the glowing Android never came and [...]
The first boot takes longer because it has to build the dalvik-cache for the frameworks and app packages. Not more than between 1 and 2 minutes though. Going from the console to the 'glowing android screen' takes a bit longer (like 20 secs in stead of 6) and the glowing android screen stays up considerably longer than on subsequent boots. If you don't get to the glowing androids within 30 seconds or to the home screen within 3 minutes on 1st boot, its not going to happen. No idea what wrong with your particular config.
This was on the Diamond. I will test it on all other functionality now. The ring did not flash. It was in the same rhythm as in Windows. So, after receiving an sms, it was flasing around. And when it was "charging" in Windows, this is still the same.
Ok, so that means that the leds driver we have now works only for Raphs, not Diams (at all), and that the navi touch chip is on the same i2c ID but is data-compatible only for the ring, not for the left and right touch areas. (This is weird. It would make more sense that either everythig works or nothing, butnot just the wheel. Are you sure it always does left or right, never home / send / back / end, no matter where you push?)
[...] I tested it on my RAPH100, and I can't get the navipad to work in this new build (worked in the previous)!
The term 'build' is used very loosely. Unless you know from which commit the kernel was actually built (like when you built it yourself), there is no telling what you run. Latest git has a driver for the navi pad that is functional (tho not perfect) for raph100 and afaik also raph800.
Starting andriod while plugged into USB seems to have broken andriod
What most likely 'breaks' (corrupts) it, is that the file systems never get cleanly unmounted when you reset out of android. (Neither the vfat fs you mount in the 1st place nor the image file you loop-mount from that.) It is probably good practice to go through the power down sequence (hold end button more than 1 second), then count to 5 (or 10 if you count fast) before you stick the stylus in the reset hole.
[...]

I don't believe there is something wrong in msm_fb. I still think that 'somehow' the dma2 in mpd_dma_to-mddi() shifts bits incorrectly. (or is that 'not found the 565 mode yet' ?) BTW: Do you have any thoughts on the navi working a little bit but mostly not on the Diamonds (other than that it is weird ;) )? As for the 'ghost behavior' of the navi pad, I did some experiments like keep reading i2c data until it returns nothing (or gives an error) but that never happens so it hangs, also I tried reading 18 bytes in stead of 19 (which I think I should anyway) but that didn't fix it either. I guess there is some bit that indicates I should ignore the rest and consider it not touched.

I don't know what mdp_dma_to_mddi() is .. Haven't looked that far into it (though I've been up to my elbows in disptools.dll asm the past couple days). The incorrect bit shifting shouldn't be a problem because it should be doing the same operations on raph800 that it's doing on raph100. I don't want to do the rgb444-to-565 conversion in the driver, as I've heard blackstone is currently doing. I'd rather just figure out how to get it into the correct 565 mode and have it display things correctly :)
Maybe if you get a chance to look at the documentation, you can point out something that would be useful? :) You probably have a much better grasp of low-level display devices than I do.
http://vdc.epson.com/index.php?option=com_docman&task=cat_view&gid=279&Itemid=40 -> S1D13774B02B Spec Rev 1.5 is a zipped PDF.
BTW: Do you have any thoughts on the navi working a little bit but mostly not on the Diamonds (other than that it is weird ;) )?
Would need to have the device, or have someone do some mmutrace analysis from wince to have any idea. Might also be worth using i2cdump (without the navi driver compiled in, and with i2c-dev support, so you have /dev/i2c* nodes) to see if touching at the same spot generates the same numbers you are expecting. I have i2c-tools compiled for ARM if you need it.
There might also be something useful to be learned from the diamond version of htcnavi.dll, if it is indeed different. If it's different it should be as simple as detecting the PSOC version at run-time to change its behavior. I have local modifications to your navi driver for grabbing the version (doesn't do any checking, just stores it in a property)
As for the 'ghost behavior' of the navi pad, I did some experiments like keep reading i2c data until it returns nothing (or gives an error) but that never happens so it hangs, also I tried reading 18 bytes in stead of 19 (which I think I should anyway) but that didn't fix it either.
I believe it should be 18 bytes from data address 0x1 (instead of 19 bytes from data address 0 or 1). Looks like your code is using data address 1, but I2C_MSG_LEN is 19, and it should be 18, if you want to mimic wince behavior. The strange thing though, is that there should be no reason to continue reading beyond byte 0xd -- because everything after that will always be the same. E.g., 0xe - 0x10 (from your buffer) or reading 3 bytes from data address 0xf, is the PSOC version. For you that's { 1, 2, 0x36 }, but for me, it's { 0x82, 0, 0x20 }. There's no reason to grab that on every poll. This is a parallel data interface, which is different from the ksc interface, where the controller chip is actually forcing you to clean the buffer first before the IRQ can be reactivated.
As for detecting that you're not touching it anymore, I believe bytes 0-3 will be { 55, aa, 55, aa } when it's not being touched.

55 aa 55 aa sounds a lot like clock run-in, but I shall investigate and report back. I do read 18 bytes, not 19, but that is not in git yet. I want to have it working first. (And yes, reading 14 bytes is probably enough..)
I downloaded the epson pdf but haven't had a chance to read it yet.
[...] J0b0 : To fix the problem the only way its to listen the i2c chip when we touch the surface ? if you explain to me the method i can try it tonight or tomorow.
You need to interrogate the i2c chip to tell whether and if so where you touch the Navi. (I do that when the IRQ for gpio 94 fires..) But even if you don't touch it, I still get the IRQ, and the data from the i2c chip indicates that you do touch the Navi, even if you don't. Especially the right side of the pad. I shall look into it a bit more to see whether I can tell from the data that you didnt actually touch it. (Like maejrep suggested.) I don't have a lot of time right now as I'm away on a project at a customer's site, probably until the end of the month. (My signal strength indicator has an R for 'roaming' in it :))

Yes. This is the list of changes. (http://git.linuxtogo.org/?p=groups/mobile-linux/kernel.git;a=shortlog;h=refs/heads/htc-msm-2.6.27) Also, see the wiki (http://wiki.xda-developers.com/index.php?pagename=RaphaelLinux) for how to build a kernel (http://wiki.xda-developers.com/index.php?pagename=RaphaelLinux#Buildx20.Yourx20.O wn) from it.

If you can distinguish between 'back' and 'hang up' (and 'right', and between 'home', 'send' and 'left'), I consider that working Navi, albeit without LEDs. So things are not as weird as I feared.

The LED's works; the four (4) LED's around the navi pad is constantly lit
The navi pad works; I can scroll trough different parts of Android
Buttons: it was a bit difficult to use right/left because of the navi function; it sometimes wanted to scroll instead. Home button = popups a menu in different situations, End button = Home button (Spare parts config), Back = Back
Yes, the date & clock works correctly
Calling my device results in a busy tone immediately; although I do believe it's Android sending the busy tone somehow, because there's a short crackling sounds in my unshielded stereo here at work ;)
The touchscreen works out beautifully (although it's a bit too "sensitive")

The Android package c4software posted and hosted here (http://connect-utb.com/index.php?option=com_jdownloads&Itemid=58&task=view.download&cid=25) apparantly works for some, but for several users, especially DIAM100-users have reported nit: cannot find '/system/bin/flash_image', disabling 'flash_recovery' and similar errors.
This one (http://connect-utb.com/index.php?option=com_jdownloads&Itemid=58&task=view.download&cid=26) though, seems to work for most, if not all! Ive noticed a few differences, in default.txt for instance (set initrd root.cpiogz vs set initrd initrd.cpio.gz).

Ive done some research now and run this through quite a few testers.
The Android package c4software posted and hosted here (http://connect-utb.com/index.php?option=com_jdownloads&Itemid=58&task=view.download&cid=25) apparantly works for some, but for several users, especially DIAM100-users have reported nit: cannot find '/system/bin/flash_image', disabling 'flash_recovery' and similar errors.
This one (http://connect-utb.com/index.php?option=com_jdownloads&Itemid=58&task=view.download&cid=26) though, seems to work for most, if not all! Ive noticed a few differences, in default.txt for instance (set initrd root.cpiogz vs set initrd initrd.cpio.gz).
Tried this one too on my DIAM100, i am impressed. All the hardware keys work fine (no navipad lights though). home:menu, send:send, end:end/home, up:up,
down:down, left:left, right:right, back:back, enter:enter/select, touchweel works..somehow, only up/down movement. i can access my internal memory now :D yuppppy, still no thumbnails, dunno why..., another new thing: i can receive calls, this is the most biggest step i think, still no voice, but it's a start. i'm impressed. Congratulations!

DIAM210? What device is that? Operator? GSM/CDMA? And which MTYPE do you use?
Japanese Emobile S21HT.
The network is WCDMA but the phone is actually the GSM version with WCDMA support.
I'm using the default MTYPE, so I believe it is 1805
This is the official web page of the S21HT:

You're right there has to be a common denominator,
I believe Successful and unsuccessful reports should identify,
1) The model and Network they are on and
2) Whether they plugged the phone into a USB cord Prior to testing.
Ive found the presence (or lack thereof) a USB cord to greatly varies successful boots into Android.

On mine the normal works fine. The alternate works too :)
I am in The Netherlands, using the KPN network. (Well, Hi, but they use the KPN network). My phone is a Dutch HTC Touch Diamond, said to be the DIAM100.
And I notice that when my USB is plugged in, it boots, but it takes about 7(!) minutes. Sometimes it does not boot at all. When the USB is not plugged in it works perfectly fine (4/5 times), and boots within about a minute.
Any more information needed?

What do you mean? With pincode it does not boot. So you should disable the pin of your sim-card in Windows before booting Android. Then it should work fine...

thats not superbly important but vibrate doesnt work either so i dont kno when i get txts cuz im not a phone person so i rarely use it, so i actually would stay in android 24/7 if it had some sort of notification. besides point most important few things in order to use phone daily are
1)screen able to turn on and off
2)send/receive calls
3)ring and/or vibrate
4)battery notification

The newest Android package for Diamond (if you get it running on your Diam500) should let you access your storage card.
Not sure what you want to "change to cdma" though..

All Raph500's are CDMA, which is the channel access method used in the US. Its hardware based and you cant change it. That's still irrelevant, as Android works on both, so I am not sure I understand your problem unless you are not able to boot up Andriod (which you haven't mentioned I think)..

hey guys, I've been following this thread with great enthusiasm. Tried the latest Version-20090222 on my DIAM100 and is has always immediately booted since now, so seems really stable! I have a question on how to get internet access working through usb... but don't bother answering if you don't consider it necessary! just wanted to let you know that I've tested a couple of versions of the diamond android port and they all worked. the last one sometimes hung while booting at a line something like 'mmc...ko', I don't quite remember. but the new one has booted flawlessly! oh, and the led ring around the center button does not light up at any time, but all the 4 backlights of the hardware buttons are constantly lighted. don't know if it's of interest, so I'm just letting you know! Thanks for your work!

Google Maps and Gmail isnt missing, but it requires that you set up your google account with Android first. There is no point in doing that as we dont have data going and other vital functions are still missing! ;)

I am sorry you feel that way. I have spent a lot of time helping people with this since December, here on the forums, on the htc-android.com forums and on personal email, but I hope you can see how some get upset when people dont bother to read the first page or even the topic title before asking a question that has been very well documented. What is the point of having a Wiki if no one wants to read it because they think they can just ask their question in the forum and then just expect someone to hand them the answer that someone else have already described in the Wiki and the forums..
Personally, I have been answering the same questions over and over again. I dont mind as I just want to help out as many as possible (check out htc-android.com and connect-utb.com)..
If you bothered to read more then to posts (out of nearly 2500), you would see how many people has been doing nothing but helping out everyone they can..
Now, back to topic. As the title states, Android is currently not working fully. Check out the wiki to see what works and what doesnt, but its sufficient to say that audio and mic doesnt work yet, so calls arent of much use yet, and power management doesnt work either, so the display has to be turned on constantly. Additionally, we are still dependant on the init's done in WinMo before booting into Android!
Hope this answered your questions. Again, sorry you dont feel you got the help you needed, but if you cant see why some get upset, then I am not suprised you feel that way.

By the way, when you need someone that flashes his/her ROM to test Android, I'd offer myself. If I know that calling woudln't be a problem (Or that it could be solved within several days/two weeks), I wouldn't mind to remove Windows Mobile. (You know, just so that my device wouldn't be completely useless...)
I think that when a new ROM has been released, the possibilities increase lots, and developing can continue :)
Please let me know when you guys are that far. (Through the forum, or through my website; http://www.gautam.nl. For the ones that do not speak Dutch, it's the big button on the right bottom corner, that says "Mail mij!")

I dont think we need to think about making any Android ROM's just yet. Even on the Kaiser and Vogue (I think), where Android is suitable for daily usage has there been made a dedicated ROM for it. I think the current solution works just fine, at least untill we have all the quirks sorted out. And there are quite a few..

Working pretty decently on my CDMA Diamond.
The touch screen is backwards still (you drag from bottom to up to see the notifications, etc), and the colors are off still.
Great work guys!
My G/F just picked up the G1, and I am very jealous right now!
I have the same results.. ^^

What errors are you getting?

Hey, I'd just like to say good work to all the programmers/developers/whatever you guys are XD.
I was just wondering how close we are to getting Android 100% running on a raphael, if it is going to be possible at all.
Thanks, and keep up the good work! People like you make xda-developers great =)

With my DIAM500 (CDMA) it also hangs here, but if I restart the phone, and load it up again w/o changing anything, it loads fine. Just always does that the first time it seems...

with my sprint TP it hangs after the calibration. I think the timing might be off on my sd card.

Hi, I have a Sprint Touch Pro (RAPH800)
I have the Sprint Raphael Radio V1.11.00F
I also have MightyRom 4.12 installed
I have loaded the Android files onto my 4GB micro-SHDC card via ActiveSync.
My problem is that Android won't boot! It gives me errors including:
mmc1: command timeout
mounting /dev/mmcblk0p1 on /mmc failed: No such device or address
mounting /mmc/tmp/system.e2img on /system failed: No such file or directory
etc.
I have reformatted my micro-SD card to FAT32 and also tried msmsdcc_id of 1, 2, and 3.
Please help me! Thanks so much!!! I really appreciate it = )
