Don't use that version unless if you really don't want to test the newest new kernels. Use this link http://it029000.massey.ac.nz/vogue/files/ This download the latest zimage-diamond and replace + rename (delete datafiles aswell) then boot Haret.exe.

When I hit the download message here: http://connect-utb.com/index.php?option=com_jdownloads&Itemid=58&task=summary&cid=33&catid=4

I get HTTP 500 Server Error. It still doesn't work.

Rational I'd just pull the battery out before you hard reset. My phone has done this to me before before with WinMo. I didn't lose anything.

Edit:

I got it working with separate download link:
http://connect-utb.com/index.php?option=com_rokdownloads&view=file&Itemid=68&id=17:-android-for-htc-touch-pro-raph-a-diam

Tried booting default with Haret and it just stopped at the bootscreen where it shows what it's loading. I get a lot of cannot find errors. And it doesn't move. I have the red square, but when I move it the keyboard leaves permanent trails around. The cursor at the bottom continues to blink and it has been 6 minutes.

I'm using raphael though. Which one do I download for raphael?

Sorry for these errors but they are supposedly due to too many database connections. I cant really see how that can be the case, but I will contact my webhost on Monday and see what they have to say :)

In the meanwhile, if you get the error, just try again in a minute or so!

Sorry for any inconvinience!

When you're in explorer, go to TOOLS --> FOLDER OPTIONS --> VIEW. Then UNTICK the option Hide extensions of known file types. Now the file should have a .txt extension. Rename it to just zImage and overwrite the one on your phone with it. :)

That is if I'm understanding your problem correctly.

Nice! What phone do you use? This does not work with a Raph100 (unless the mini-usb is connected during boot).

Wanted to drop this while writing. Upon Android boot the battery was 100% (fresh out of the charger), but when booted it reported 89% not 98% or something that it should have been closer to. The indicator in spare parts, gives variable readings, the phone has been online a few hours now. The indicator "walks" from 81-83 and even lesser and higher (%). It does not matter very much, but better write of it than not too.. :o:)

Same here. Charging doesn't work on diam100. At first the battery status would also wildly jump (like from 60% to 15% and back...sometimes from 60% to automatic shutdown), but after a few reboots its working quite normal (not 100% accurate though).

I was wondering... i have read a few pages back that someone got his WIFI working. Could that be integrated in any of the next zImages ? I hope that's not a dumb question :o

Not sure why I had that checked, but that fixed the file extension problem. Lets see if I have any luck with this new Zimage.

EDIT:

No luck with new Zimage I still get these errors on boot:

Hello,

What a nice work, this porting project has progressed a lot !!

I've been trying to solve the issue concerning sms sending (I can receive them but can't send them).

I went into the "hidden config page" by typing *#*#4636#*#* to look if I had the good SMSC number (SMS Center), then I tried to update that number because it reads some weirds characters from my sim card .. but it doesnt want to save the good number.

Maybe have I looked into the wrong place because if I can receive sms's, is it possible to receive them without that SMSC number ?

Again, nice work, I can't wait to use android on my diamond as the main os :)

1. Is vertical scrolling not working?
(I'm also finding the screen much less responsive, than before)

2. Are there any real hero builds?

3. Is the END button always supposed to be lit?

4. Any way to remap the buttons?

The hardbuttons lighting up used to work a few kernels back, but now it's a bit buggy. I noticed the unless the button lights up, it won't work properly, so you have to slide your finger under the screen a bit until the buttons start lighting up properly before using them. :/

IIRC the module is at system/lib/modules/wlan.ko. It needs to be replaced before wifi will work, along with editing initetc/wifi/loadit, editing the init .rc file, and possibly putting a newer Fw1251r1c.bin in initetc/wifi/

Hi all,
I see that a loot of people have problem with mounting internal card (on Diamond), and they get the error:
"mount:mounting /dev/block/mmcblk0p1 on /sdcard failed: InvaFailed
Failed to mount the SD card.cannot continue.
/bin/sh: can't access tty; job control turned off

This is because the Internal card is set to logical partition, and not to primary partition.

A sollution is to use the Diskpart program thats included in Win7 & Vista.

... etc

I get this error i get when trying to boot android with the kernel from 13-09.

I've read that it's supposedly a problem with the flash being a logical partition instead of a primary. I tried to look with windows "Diskpart" at the diamond flash disk, but it doesn't list the device at all.

Is this the only fix for this error? Is there another way of solving it?

Cheers!

Yes, the screen is quite unresponsive, but i think we'll have to wait some time before such minor things sort out. First things first, that is, proper power management, stability and getting all the connections work (wifi, BT). Of course the developers are on a steady course to achieve that, we just have to be patient :)

How does your Diamond show on your Computer ? It should come up as "Device with Removable Storage" and not "Portable Device". You can change this on the Diamond by selecting "Settings\Communications\USB to PC" and select "Disk Drive" instead of "ActiveSync".

Note that the first time I selected the disk in MMC (when I didnt get the Diamond to boot), it said: " Healty (Logical Partition)".

Now this is very interresting, i have a tool installed to mount my linux ext3 partition under windows XP, this tool is called 'ext2fsd'.
In the volume manager of this tool my diamond is listed as:

Type: basic
Filesystem: FAT32
total size: 3832MB
used size: 3521MB
partition type: FAT16

It can also change the partition type (which looks very dangerous to me), this show the type as "04 FAT 16". i think it's kinda weird that the filesystem and partition type are different...

o and the windows disk manager show the diamond disk with a blue coloured partition which should be a primary partition.

Perhaps i should try changing the flash disk under linux, that's something for this evening to do.

Just an FYI to other Fuze users out there - I've had the best luck so far with the 9-7-09 Beta package (using the Raph 110 settings) and the 9-13-09 zImage

Usual issues are still there - hardware keys not very responsive sometimes, no wifi (of course), spotty cold-boot network setup, no sms send, marketplace working off/on, some general sluggishness... etc...

However once data fully connects, it tends to stay that way for the remainder of the session at least... may require you to toggle airplane mode several times before all data connections are active (browser, gmail, marketplace). I've successfully downloaded and installed over 5 packages at a time... but it has only done that once :)

One of the things I was waiting for was ringtone/notifications to work, and I think I found a way around the default (and buggy) setup. Sound definitely works for the Raph 110 - but like many people I can't choose a ringtone from Android settings. Good news is that if you can establish a connection to the marketplace and complete a download, you can go about this another way.

The only download that I can confirm works is the Flight of the Conchords soundboard from the marketplace. It's a goofy, free sound clip app that allows you to set any of the clips as your ringtone or notification sound. This should work with any of the soundboard apps that allow you to set a ringtone/notification sound... but nothing else confirmed yet.

Just thought I would share with anyone else looking to set an audible alert... so that, you know, your phone is useful while running Android. :)

I know this is an issue with XP - diskpart can't see USB (and other) removable drives. You need to run diskpart under Vista, Server 2008 or Windows 7. You should still be able to use it Computer Management though. The only reason you need diskpart is if you want to mark the partition as active (needed to boot PCs from it). It doesn't need to be marked active for Android the way we are booting it currently.

To change the partition in computer management:
Load computer management by right-click on My Computer and select Manage
Select Disk Management on the left
Select the partition on your Diam/Raph
Right-click and select Delete Partition, then confirm
Do the same again (right-click and Delete Partition) in case there is an extended partition (will only be there if the partition was Logical instead of Primary)
Right-click where the partition was and select Create Partition, choose Primary, FAT32, quick format

Should be done.
I went mostly by memory for this (don't have any drives I'm happy to blow away partitions on at the moment...) so I apologise if anything I wrote isn't quite right. If you don't know enough about the process to be able to fill in any gaps then perhaps it's something you should not touch, or get someone to do for you.

Incidentally, the original poster mentioned a particular kernel version... was it working with a previous one? If so, then partitions should be fine. But you may need to delete the data.img file so that it re-creates all settings with the new kernel.

I have tested the kernel 09-09 which gives me lots of "msmfb_start_dma x.xms after vsync request" messages. Then i tried the kernels from 12-09 and 13-09 and those give me headaching problems by not being able to find /dev/block/mmcblk0p1.

I'v tried to delete the diamond flash partition using windows XP's disk management, but "delete partition" is grayed out there. I then switched over to ubuntu 8.04 to see what it can do. However fdisk and gparted say that the flash only has unallocated space :S.

How is this even possible? I presumed that all diamonds are identically build.

Just trying the latest image and have a question regarding the FSCK****.REC files. What are those and why is their number rising? Can I get rid of them?

These are file-fragments, found by a filesystem check. They are pieces of files that no longer seem to be associated with any file and as such have been saved. They indicate a (slight) corruption of the filesystem and my guess is that this stems from not properly rebooting Android (via long-press END call button -> shutdown Android).
I get them as well and they seem to contain settings written by android, as well as binary data.

I just got power collapse working, this means the apps CPU is completely powered down when it goes to sleep and should give lots of power savings. There are still some things that don't power down (panel and microp) but power should be better.

Get the latest diamond kernel from here:

http://cs-alb-pc3.massey.ac.nz/vogue/files

Source is on ltg.

Thanks for your efforts! One question: to enable power collapse, do we also need the pm.sleep_mode command line parameter? If so, what is the proper (or best for now) value? 0? Or 1?

Again: many thanks for your efforts! It has been an exhilarating ride so far!

The default sleep mode is 0 which will give best power savings. 1 should work too and probably isn't much different. I don't think 2 works and 3 is the old behavior of not powering down. However, since the panel doesn't power down, none of these modes will really give good battery life. I'm working on it though.

So we don't need to pass in the pm.sleep_mode parameter then? Thanks for clearing that up!

First, I would like to say how awesome it is to be running Android on my Diamond. You guys have done so much progress lately - I'm allmost 100% in Android now. Thanks guys! :D

Now, every time I launch an application that uses OpenGL i just get a black screen. I've tried the demos and Neocore, none of them are working for me. Does anyone have some ideas to what I can do to fix this?

My device is a Diamond (Diam100). And I'm running the latest release (The one with improved battery...)

Thanks in advance. Hope anyone can help me...

I had the same problem. It did not work for me on a clean WM 6.5 ROM.

It was solved for me after starting TouchFlo 3d (which uses some kind of OpenGL too) on Windows Mobile.

I think a Windows Mobile application needs to activate OpenGL before you can use it in Android.

Yes, it syncs with your GMail account if you tell it to. I have Soocial set up to sync contacts between Outlook and Gmail, and Google Calendar Sync to sync my calendar between Outlook and Gmail. That way my computer, gmail and phone are all sync'd, even in WM because my work uses Exchange. And if you want to check exchange email, use Work Email. I think it may be in the last release, or you can download it free from the marketplace.

Hey

I have downloaded the zImage-diamond-13-09-09 from http://it029000.massey.ac.nz/vogue/files/?C=M;O=D and the newest Image from Connect UTB (090909).
I have copied all files in the root from the Internal Storage from the Image and then I replaced the zImage with the new one.

For the startup config i have taken the Diamond config, because I have a DIAM100.

When I start haret, my Leds and scrolling doesn't work.
The Home, the "green" phone, and the LEFT Button work like the Home key.
The two on the right side (Back and the "red" Phone) work like the RIGHT Button.:(
UP, DOWN, RIGHT, Volume and the Look Buttons works right.

Is this normal with this zImage? because with the zImage from 12.09.09 it works fine.

Thanks for your help and sorry for my bad English!

If your provider is Optimus in Portugal, use the following settings (Just found them on internet).

First make sure there is an active data connection in WM

Edit startup.txt and add the following to set cmdline
ppp.apn=Optimus ppp.username=guest ppp.password=guest

start haret.exe

Settings>Wireless Controls>Mobile networks>Access Point Names-> add new APN
Name: Optimus
APN: Optimus
username: guest
password: guest
mcc: 268
mnc: 03
APN type: default

-> save APN

Settings>Wireless Controls>Mobile Networks>Network Operators and reselect your carrier

Then activate the airplane mode, when your signal is gone deactive the airplane mode

Thats the way it always worked for me on a Diam100-WM6.1

I must agree. Well, you can use it daily to play around with, but don't use it for serious work. So if you're expecting a very important call/SMS, or want to use it as a "work phone", don't. It still hang from time to time, sometimes you can't recieve calls etc. Still buggy, but we'll get there :)

Ha, too bad the "stable" WM6.1 isn't even stable enough to let me send/receive important calls/sms.

I'm just holding off trying the switch until I see the CDMA version on the Raph800 gets a bit more caught up. I'm on Telus in Canada, which I understand is pretty much equivalent to the Sprint version for the US.

These last few weeks have been looking very promising, before that I was starting to wonder if the devs had given up.

I still can't get the data connection to work. If any of you has any ideas, I very much appreciate to hear them.
Here is what I have got and what I have tried so far:

-I have a DIAM300 with radio 1.08.... and I never got it working.
-changed my radio to 1.09.... and I got it working exactly once (for one hour, stable) but then never again
-I briefly tried a friend's DIAM100 with Radio 1.08... and also that didn't work
-network provider: Optus Australia
-I did read and follow the guides
-my APN details show up in the APN list in Android
-I do get the G/3G symbol, but not for long periods of time
-I do sometimes get an IP address - as shown in the modem log, but shortly thereafter the connection "breaks down"
-I tried to use only GPRS(GSM) and not 3G(WCDMA), (selected in both WM and Android)
-reselcted my provider in the network settings (repeatedly)
-I tried to switch on/off the data with the modem application in Android
-also tried to "reset" the modem with the modem app and/or with switching on/off the flight mode (repeatedly)
-I do start an application in WM that uses data before booting Android
-I tried many different locations, some of which have signal strength 4 out of 4 bars in WM, but still can't make a data connection

It seems like there is some magic happening here, but it's working against me

I'm back again with my booting problems which have been bothering me for about a week now :S

I though it might be conveniant to type over a part of the boot messages (is there any way of logging this to the mmc once it has been mounted correctly?).

In an attempt to re-create the partition of the diamond's flash i've followed this guide:
http://www.htc-android.com/viewtopic.php?f=5&t=70&start=180#p1609

After which my diamond still doesn't have a partition table that any partitioning tool can display :S.

Try pressing the menu button once the vertical stripes appear.. or once the screen is off.. According to DZO, if you read his comment above, you need to press the menu button!

I've got the panel power on/off working now, this should save lots of power.
Kernel is here:

http://cs-alb-pc3.massey.ac.nz/vogue/files

This works on my diam100 which has a Toshiba MDDI client and Hitachi panel. I think most diamonds have the Toshiba client but I don't know about panels. What this means is that is may not work for everybody.
It displays junk at first but press menu again and the panel should display.

Tried them on my Raph300 : nogo...
- Buttons not working
- Screen also not turning of

I'll wait for the next version :)
For now the older one is working oke.

Hi,

Just after copying the android and the latest image to the root of the internal storage of an DIAM 100, android boot-ed and I was even able to receive calls, after some time device has blocked. After restart and booted again in WM everytime I start android I have the message "No service" and shortly after the device freezes. Is there a solution for this?

Thank you

From my experience, when copying a new zimage, it's also good to delete the old data file.. (at one point i didn't do that and android didn't work as it should)

EDIT: I also get the white lines when i wake up my device, but pressing the home button once or twice brings the screen back on... So...it works! Great job dzo!

Although Android rocks, I have some strange problems, which I coudn't track down too one cause yet.
Currently running 20090909 (xrom1.4r3, downloaded via Connect-UTB) with the default zImage, zImage 2009-09-13, and the latest zImage 2009-09-17 version.

In general, Android works smooth, but sometimes the load is very high (Checked via "uptime" in the terminal)
But so far I couldn't find strange processes which uses much CPU or memory.
It even froze a few times, probably because the heavy load.
Hope I can find the real cause of this.

Now the positive things: IT ROCKS :D
My data connection (T-Mobile, The Netherlands) seems to be working out of the box now.
I followed the small guide @ Connect-UTB, added a new APN, refreshed the provider list, and it configured 2 new APNs (One for internet, one for MMS)
So I don't use my own APN anymore. Sometimes it can't get a connection at boot, constantly disconnecting, but when it has a stable connection, it will stay connected.

Keep up the good work!

The lastest release seems less stable than before. on my French Diam100 when i try to wake up the Mobile on android my screen gone white, and its die... bad

I can't wake my device, after he gone in sleep mode. (White Screen, Black Screen, etc...)

EDIT : The Touch Screen is less responsive too. i can't scroll into the list.

Strange. I also get the irratical screen behaviour, but can wake it up every time. Try just pressing the buttons... Mine sticks at the blank screen a couple of times, but i pressed the CALLEND button and tried again, and it woke up. Did that about 4 times now....and didn't freeze. Of course, it's annoying, but the device doesn't die..

Its a scam app if you ask me. Android has native support for mounting the storage card when you connect the phone to a computer, and it shows up as a removable storage unit. The reason it isnt working on the Touch Pro or Diamond is because USB functionality isnt up yet. Have patience.

Also, I would really appreciate if people took time and read the FAQs and read the Wikis so that we dont have loads of people asking how to get Wifi working or why Bluetooth doesnt work. We are working on it and we are making awesome progress.

Thanks for all support!

Tried the new rom, and it is a bit more stable! It does not lock the screen, and it has good sensitivity by default (no need for reboot to fix it).

I even for the first time since xRom edition, got a stable 3G connection, I will use it tomorrow for as long as it is possible.

Great work as always, and don't give up :)

Btw, is there a group or people that is developing/porting Android for the Raphael, or is it only for the Diamond?

If I have understood it correctly the headphone icon varies from phone to phone. I have the headphone but still can use my Raphael normally. With your APN settings, follow the guides properly and you should be able to get something at least.

OK, it's on my site now. This kernel only comes out of sleep up if you press the power button, so press power then menu to wake up. I also changed the idle sleep back so it should be a bit more responsive.

If the panel doesn't work for you, boot with board_htcdiamond_panel.type=0 in the cmd line, you won't get the power savings though.

I left my diamond overnight and it went down to about 80% so it's probably usable if you charge it every night. There's still something using too much power, I'll find it eventually.

Sorry, forgot to tell what I precisely did(in winmo):

My smsc was set as : AT+CSCA="+33609001390",145

I just typed: AT+CSCA="0033609001390"

(the 145 value went automatically to 129)

Then did a soft reset and that worked for me.

Be sure to use your network's SMSC (mine is for SFR France)

You can also try to update it under android through the *#*#4636#*#* menu but i think that this menu doesnt work yet, or my sim card may be too old.

The last zImage seems to be better than the previous one, you can start and stop the panel quite well, but if you let your phone off for more than few minutes, it is harder to wake up (have to play 2-3 times with endcall and powerOn). And if you wait even more I have a black screen and hardware buttons don't work at all. You can only reset. I will try to plug my usb in debug mode to check if I see a special log in the LogCat view.

BTW the temperature of my DIAM100 is now quite good, not as warm as before, so the power consumption should be really better than before.. great !

Well, I have the same problem.
What I've discovered so far when I boot to Android (09092009 from xrom1.4r3) and I open the "Better Terminal" app, and I type: uptime, the load (https://www.andymillar.co.uk/blog/index.php/2006/12/24/geekery/linux-load-average-explained/) is very high.
It drops a little bit after a while, but the load is still 3+.
When the phone goes into standby, how longer the standby time is, how longer it takes before the phone reacts.
When the phone is powered on, and I open the terminal again, and check the uptime again, the highest load I've seen is over 30!
If I'm right, and simply said, what normally should take for example 1 second, now takes 30 seconds because the "queue" is full.

The usb debugging already works, you have to start adb or use the LogCat view in eclipse when you installed the android sdk.

I am not an expert, but I ve got a lot of error messages in the log saying it cant open /sys/class/power_supply/battery/batt_vol
When I open this folder I ve got a "batt_volt" but no "batt_vol" doing a cat of this file give me the actual battery info ex: 3184
Is it a typo error or some kind on different name depending the htc ? mine is a DIAM100.

I'm on KPN too and don't have the problem you're describing.

On my phone, sometimes the connection (both phone and data) drops and comes up again a couple of seconds later. This only happens when the data connection is activated. My guess is that you're having the same problem and that your phone was temporarily offline when you were called.

The only annoying problem I'm seeing now is that the phone suddenly decides it's battery is empty (while it's charged over 50%) and shuts down without any possible user intervention. Haven't found the time to debug it. This problem occurs in all the recent kernels.

Then another question: is there an overview somewhere of the development that still needs to be done? I'm not talking about the wiki page showing what part is working and what not but I was looking for some more technical data so I could possible help coding. I skimmed the irc logs of the last couple of days but couldn't find anything useful in there. Could one of the devs give me a couple of pointers to get me going?

Ah more Dutchies following this development! Good work!
Thanks for the tip, after a quick reboot indeed the phone usage was more stable. I'm having the same problems you describe, phone suddenly decides to shut down (which doesn't work).

Looking forward to further development!

Will try the 18-09-09 image now! Can say that I've experienced difficulties getting the phone to live after a while. Also, it seems to be something wierd about the sound now, the Alarm does work, but gives no sound.

Great work as usual! Thanks to all involved! :)

@pingor & @boas

I'm not sure but I don't think the external speaker is working yet (don't shoot me if I'm wrong, haven't tested that lately). So no ring tones and no alarm sounds.

I tested the latest kernel from connect-utb in the afternoon break at work. On my DIAM100, after the panel is shut down it doesn't come up again. Tried pressing various buttons, waited a bit, tried again (also after a reset) but the only thing I got was garbled screen once for about a second and it shut down immediatly after that. Haven't tried board_htcdiamond_panel.type=0 yet but I expect that'll work like before.

I did some research on the 3G data connections and found a more easy way to configure it.

The current problem is that there are only a limmited number of carriers listed in the /etc/apns-conf.xml file. (the file resists in system.img)

What I did was, added my carrier settings to the xml file and created the updated system.img.
In startup.txt removed "ppp.apn ppp.username ppp.password"
Deleted the data file.
Boot haret
Goto Settings>Wireless Controls>Mobile Networks>Network Operators and reselect your carrier
Settings>Wireless Controls>Mobile networks>Access Point Names
Now press the HW home button select "Reset to default".
Activate Airplane mode, when signal lost deactive Airplain mode.

That was all to get my data connection ;), the browser told it couldn't connect so I did go to programs>modem: Disconnected and connected.
Now everything works.

So the only thing we need at the moment to make it more easy for everyone is create a complete "apns-conf.xml" file.

So I wanted to report the test with the latest (18-09-09) build.

First I've got big issues, as already reported, the hardware keys ceases to work after been locked some time (as short as 10 seconds from lock). I tried to use the HW-keys in Winmo, and during the Android boot, but that did not do anything for my Raphael.

An other thing is that I had the USB connected during boot three times, and it is not able to charge the phone (witch is possible with the 17-09-09 and previous builds).

But great work as always! Keep it up, and if we can help with anything let us know.

Amazing job with everything lately. I have been observing this thread for over a year now and couple last months have been great.

Managed to get data to work today with latest zImage. Restarted(*) and had trouble to get it work again. After forfeiting and playing some sudoku game for 10-20 mins, data connection started to work for some reason, and worked until I had to reboot(*).

When I have automatic network selecting on, apn list is always empty, even I have saved something there. When I manually select network, saved apn's show up.

After 30 mins of not touching the phone today, couldn't get screen back on anymore. Backlight was one tho. With previous version, worked fine after a good night sleep.

* Haven't actually successfully rebooted or shutdown android once. I have no idea if it is a normal behaviour or not. Unless it just takes half an hour and I'm just not patient enough.

On the lighter side, after testing Android a while and rebooting* ( see above ) it with battery removal, wm6.1 corrupted a little and I couldn't start any program without certifications ( haret.exe for an example). Couldn't edit policies register either. After updating the latest official rom, worked fine. Didn't test hard reset. Prolly would have worked.

If you use xROM 1.4r3 (http://connect-utb.com/index.php?option=com_rokdownloads&view=folder&Itemid=68&id=5:htc-diamond), there is a file manager called Astro.
The other option would be, although it seems to be impossible to download from the Android Market via PC? find the .apk files and install them manually.

I don't know what version diamond you have, but I had the same issue on my DIAM500. I followed MrPippy's instructions and used an old zImage from 9/9/09 (currently the newest version I've been able to get to boot). And use this startup.txt and it should boot. Make sure all files are in the root of your Internal Storage.

Can anyone provide some insight on getting newer versions booted on a DIAM500? The latest one (I think 9/17) just freezes up at the loading Haret screen... I'm sure it probably has something to do with the mType or the startup.txt but I just don't know enough about this stuff to even have a clue as to where to look.

dzo, you think you can add panel support in your kernel for sharp panel based Diam100 ?

I've tried to add sharp support, obviously I can't test it so it's very unlikely to work. Just build the kernel from current git and boot with board_htcdiamond_panel=2. What you will probably have to do is to trace the mddi commands that are sent when your panel powers up and change the code to get it working.

I've been thinking about doing an automatic build of the Linux kernel for diamond - so all users/tester can get the very latest kernel image to test with.
Please let me know of this service has any interest to you/the community.

I will keep track of the amount of visitors - to determine if this service is used at all. (Of no one wanna use it anyway, there's no point in having it online!)

Currently my system should pull the updates, and rebuild the image at around 02:00 Danish time. (unless I decide to rebuild it sooner!) ;)
Buildlog and zImage will be uploaded to: http://glemsom.anapnea.net/android/

NOTE: Since the build are done automatically - they are untested!

To trace MDDI commands use:
addlist mmutrace 0x4a842000 0x1000
wi 10

while doing setlcd 4 and setlcd 1 in another console.

This may not work if your rom maps the buffer to a different address.

Reverting back to my old zImage :)

Small question about USB charging (With zImage 18-09-09):
When I'm connected via my computer, and WM sees that I'm charging, I can boot to Android and continue with charging.
When I however use the normal charger, thus not using a computer) and WM sees that I'm charing, I can boot to Android, but it stops charging.

I know that everything is still a work in progress, but maybe there is a solution for this?

There seem to be a good amount of people who are using this service - so I decided to spend a little more time on this project.

Changes:
* My system will now monitor the GIT repository for updates, and recompile whenever there's new commits.
* The last 4 weeks of commits can be seen on my webpage (or downloaded by file). The commit-log is generated directly from my updated GIT repository.

NOTE: My system for updating and re-compiling is usually running 24/7... It MIGHT be down for maintaince once in a while though (It's serving as a mediecenter and storage center aswell). Though, all the files are hosted on another server - so they should ALWAYS be downloadable.

OK, here are my notes and impessions(if they help at all, I hope they do):

PHONE: RAPH100
zImage: 18-09-09
rest of files: 09-09-09

First, booting android is faster more you use it and not only booting but the whole OS works faster after a couple of restarts and calls :D...

the "desktop" is getting better, however still crashes(especially when you try to click or use it and it isn't still fully loaded).

charging works when you connect it before starting android. and when phone is charging everything works a lot better and faster. it seems power control pulls performance too much when on battery. things get even worse when you start getting messages about battery being low. those make a chaos and destroy everything :D

receiving and sending calls was working from the start, but no sound transmision was made either way(when receiving call in locked state it takes phone 3 rings to wake up). however, after few restarts and enabled charging in android it works :D. still after receiving call in the locked state phone "dies" and you cannot wake it up(or it shuts down:)). no ringtone on incoming call or sms.

app store is not working... it dumbs up on accepting the rules :D EDIT: now working

brightness settings are not working. clicking od ringer volume and media volume in settings, crashes the app. turning gps location crashes the whole phone. :D also, noticed that hardware keybord flashes and lights on it are turned on a lot of time, just using up energy.

if you ask me: power control and start screen(slowness in loading and crashing) are the most important issues and would improve the quality of usage the most.

3g is working flawlessly here(MTS SERBIA) and animations and performance is really good (when not pulled down by battery management).

sms is working.

EDIT: just noticed, when phone goes to stand by for longer than a minute you cannot wake it up. but this isn't a rule:D could not catch the right conditions for thet to happen. I know that calling and charging can wake it up.

Now some questions:
1) is there a way to make everything a bit bigger(too small for my fingers)
2) is there a special startup.txt for raph100?

Again thx to all the ppl working everyday on this!!! you've made an amazing progress and I can't thank you enough...

Of course not, reading other posts is so overrated :P

I'm currently looking into my data connection, it works in general, but the starting isn't very smooth.
When I check the app "Modem" (Don't know if it's a default all or not?) I can see that it can't start pppd properly, seems to crash each time, and then it restarts, and restarts, and restarts.
Sometimes it works if I search for network operators, and switch to airplane mode and back.
Need to figure out the exact folder structure @ Android, haven't looked into this yet. Maybe I can find something.
Once pppd is started, the data connection seems to be stable.

And I'm affraid to update my zImage to anything later than the 18-09 version :+ Haven't had a great experience with a newer image yet.

As I wrote in a earlier post, it seems a lot of users are using my zImage autobuild service. This is great! And I felt it was worth throwing a few extra hours in this project.

The autobuild system will now:
* Rebuild image when a new commit is found in the GIT repository.
* All builds are timestamped (This is usefull if people are linking directly to my builds)
* All buildlogs are timpestamped as well.
* All recently builds can be downloaded from the site. (Currently there's only ONE build though...) ;)
* Last 4 weeks of commits shown on the page. (not downloadable by file anymore!)

In the future I might clean-up in the amount builds... Maybe something like only storing the last 10 builds... I haven't quite decided yeat though. :P

If anyone else have suggestions, feel free to contact me!

In case you missed it, the link is: http://glemsom.anapnea.net/android/

I think many people will find it usefull if GlemSoms link finds its way to the first post... Just my suggestion :)

Testing the new image now...

EDIT: Still unable to wake up my device. Oh and... my brightness control isn't working... DIAM100.

it would be great to have there some way how to put feedback to each build ... at least some simple like "RAPH100 + or -" or maybe some icons ...

I second that request!
A simple + / - option so you can vote per build would make it easier for others if the current build seems to be okay, or not.
Although you cannot guarantee 100% correctness, but it would be a nice indication.
And based on the positive votes, you can save the last 10 zImages which are working. (Maybe with a minimum amount of votes required)

Running latest build from Autobuild. Seems to work fine!
since a lot of hardware features need and slingshot from WM to work i've tried the most simple option for the power controll. in WM i've disabled all automatic power settings and set power usage to a minimum. Not sure if it will work. I'll give some feedback when it crashed ;)

Running on T-mobile MDA IV

Good one ... +1 one for the info if they are tested on a special device (+/-) For DIAM 100 .. 500 and RAPH 100 .. 800

Maybe there will be different buildfiles (including hardware keyboard etc. in raph by time ... ) or whatever ...

The latest zimages seem to boot but still don't seem to have any CDMA radio support. Is there any information that I could pass along to anybody to help out and help catch it up to the GSM counterparts?

How well your android boots (if at all) and performs depends on your hardware and other things, like plugging it into USB in WM, Soft resseting before launching Haret etc. So people would comment (or put "-") about problems which don't really exist, which will bring confusion.

Hi all,
Not sure if this is any use, but I was having a bit of a play this morning and downloaded a WM6.5 Kitchen for Diamond, extracted the OEMDrivers folder, and then loaded up a few of the DLL files in IDA 5.5 demo. It shows me heaps of assembly such as in the disptools.dll file:
EXPORT htc_disp_set_backlight
htc_disp_set_backlight
STMFD SP!, {R4,LR}
MOV R4, R0
MOV R1, #0x40000000
MOV R0, #2
BL sub_10021CCC
CMP R0, #0
LDRNE R0, =aHtc_disp_set_0 ; "htc_disp_set_backlight(%d)...\r\n"
MOVNE R1, R4
BLNE NKDbgPrintfW
MOV R0, R4
BL sub_10006030
LDMFD SP!, {R4,LR}
BX LR

Looking through the sub_xxxxxx functions, it shows branching based on criteria such as sub_10005EB8 checks a registry key to see if you have light detection turned on, and I believe then adjusts the backlight accordingly. Not all of the subs are as easy to understand - some have no clear text in them, so you have to be able to find out what the registers are for. However I'm thinking that it might be a viable way to get hardware working that the devs may not specifically have. eg I just did a search for 0x110008 which is a value related to the Sharp panel on DZo's DIAM (I think), and found sub_1001D36C which refers to that address and may contain init code for it, and perhaps branching for other hardware, revealing the way that HTC work out how to initialise the hardware.

Perhaps this post is completely worthless, or perhaps the devs already do this stuff... but if it helps even the smallest amount, then it was worth my time writing :)

IDA Pro 5.5 demo (which allows opening these DLL files, but has other limitations including time and saving) can be obtained from the official site here:
http://www.hex-rays.com/idapro/idadowndemo.htm

EDIT: The Kitchen I grabbed the DLLs from was the one here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=513311

If anyone would like any clarification on what I've written, please ask.
