I've decided that the original order of the Comm Manager is not quite good so i edited it a bit:

This is how it looks:
http://img293.imageshack.us/img293/5152/pccapture4gh4.jpg

More Info:

Beam = Turn Beam ON/OFF
When On = your phone can receive/send files (Via BT) --> also more battery consuming when on.
When Off = Your Phone Can't.

3G:
On = 3G Mode.
Off = GSM Mode.

Use your finger to scroll through the Settings tab (between weather and programs), then you can click on the Communication Manager. It's one step less than your method.

The new Manager looks nice, but what is there to 'beam'?

The only one I miss on the panel originally inside the oficial roms, is the possibility to cgange between 3G to GSM.

98% of the time, I only use GSM. Only when I need to navigate or make a video call, then I use 3G....otherwise it's useless, and battery consuming...

I was about to ask the same thing:p...as far as i can see in the settings...theres the option to accept beams but you cant beam anything??. Does the Diamond come with an infra red sensor?? because i cant see any sensor on the side of the phone??

Otherwise that comm mananger looks really nice...ill be downloading it later and applying it to my Diamond

Oh you star! Well done, this is perfect for me as I have 3G in the park outside but not in the house so while it's always searching for 3G my GSM signal suffers.

Top marks to you.

Simply set the COMM Manager as one of your start menu items.

Then it's only Start Menu-> Comm Manager.

Beam = Turn Beam ON/OFF
When On = your phone can receive/send files (Via BT) --> also more battery consuming when on.
When Off = Your Phone Can't.

Also two steps, just as mine, but even quicker. Visual "Disadvantage" is that you will go out of the TFL3D surrounding using the start menu ;)

When Off = Your Phone Can't.

What is the added value over the Bluetooth ON/OFF setting? In other words, what can I do with bluetooth ON if i can't have data traffic.

Finally got it :)

Bluetooth means turn bluetooth on, so if you have a headset for example that's already been paired it'll work.

Turning beam on means your device is discoverable, so something which hasnt already paired can see it. I guess its usefull to quickly turn on beam to grab something from a friend, then turn it back off again.

I think i've found a small problem with the new comm manager. Has anybody else tried re-ordering the setting with Schaps advanced config? the re-ordering works fine, but after a soft reset the ability to turn on and of the 3G is disabled!

Has anybody else noticed this?

Hi there, I'm novice here.

Made a few tweaks to my phone and after installing this tweak, sometimes it happened that the upper status bar dissapeared!!! It disapeared mostly when I closed the active task/memory button to the upper right.

It seems ok after uninstalling it...

Had to say I applied eg. portait/landscape tweek, bu ti seems ok.

Have noticed a slight bug/issue.

I've got a Diamond I'm using just for testing, alongside my normal production Diamond. It doesn't have a SIM in it (just using WiFi) therefore via your Comm Manager I've set the "Phone" (first option) to OFF.

However when in TomTom 7 it refuses to search for a GPS lock saying (along the lines of): "Flight mode is switched on, no sat. connection possible".

I realise this is a non-standard set of events, but just thought I'd let you know, not least if another app used a similar method to check for Flight Mode etc etc.

Cheers.

Go on start, settings, buttons: change long press answer shortcut to comm manager. Now when you press and hold the answer key the comms manager will appear. I'm sure many people knew this already but just thought it might be useful for people that are reading this and didn't.

Also, I changed the comms manager tabs on Advanced Configuration tool and it DID have the icons.....strange.

Changing the registry will NOT un-install the new commanager. I think only a hardreset will help!!!!

All it installs is registry and possibly a .png or two. Change the registry back to the same set up the comm manager had out the box and you'll never notice any difference except it might be listed in your 'remove programs' settings. Really no reason to hard reset anything.

Hi Nadavi,

Excellent app looks good. I'm happy with the original Comm Manager, but would like to change the Direct Push option to the 3G on/off that you have.

Would you be so kind and explain how I can do this myself? Is it just registry settings or more involved? Would be gratefull if you could provide some simple steps.

I have the same problem. It have found out that my Diamond wont return to 3G when it's in Band=Auto and has dropped into GSM due to no 3G signal.

TIP: If there is decent 3G signal, I can "trig" it back to 3G by choosing Band=WCDMA and then directly go back to Band=Auto. It will then stay in 3G until it completely loses the signal. Also, if I choose Band=GSM and then back to Band=Auto, it wont recover 3G. Clearly, this must be a bug or at least an incompatibility with some operators (mine is Tele2 in Sweden).

I am currently looking for a quick way to switch band to WCDMA, wait for 3G signal with a timeout, and then switch back to Auto. (I could code this myself if I get some pointers to what registry keys / API functions one should use for this.)

I'm also programming a new (hobby) application for switching between 3G and GSM.
Can somebody tell me if it is a simple registry change to switch between the two bands or is it something I have to program with an API ?
So how do I have to program it so that my application can switch between 3G or GSM ?
I use Visual C# with .NET compact Framework 2.0.

So in settings phone tab, band select i picked GSM. I assumed this only used GSM, but when i installed your cab and rebooted it had the 3g tab on. Is this correct? It was on the entire time.

On another note your cab is great, very useful for turning the things off that i never use such as 3g and beam :) Any chance you will make a blk version?

ROM date: 12/26/2008
Radio version: 1.09.25.23
This looks like on my previous ROM version which is 1.93 and I prefer it that way.

Thanks in advance

Hi everyone!
I've made some googleing but with no result...so I decided to post the question here,maybe someone has a/the answer :)

I woluld like to have the Comm Manager integrated into Manila as a TAB but with the extra functionality such as the 3G switch (and maybe the Close Connection switch). I found more than one thread with CommManager TAB but all of them are the "default" CommManager (with the Microsoft Push swich, wich seems to be useless :( )
So,if anyone can point me in the right direction I'd be gratefull. Thanks!

I'm in the same boat: loving the com manager found here (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=3522873#post3522873) but it doesn't integrate with the one built into the extra tabs (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=487825) that im running.

Place the cab file into your Internal 4GB storage via Activesync (Device to pc).
Then unplug device from computer and use File explorer to find the cab file. Press on it and installation begins.

I try this and i unrar the files to a map on my desktop and move them over to my internal storage then i look in that map via the file explorer, there are 7files there and ony one i can click on, it has got an opera icon and is called setup, i click this and the browser open and the display turns white...and nothing more
i would very much want this prog to work....does somebody have a clue what i am doing wrong

Don't unrar the file, this is the .cab file, winrar puts his icon on the file so you think is rared, you can unrar it, but don't doit. Just copy the file to yout phone and tap on it, and it will start installing!
