Color Theme Option:

Installing any of the Color Theme compatible background files enables you to change the color background images based on the current color theme. Just go to SPB Menu > Tools > Theme and choose your desired color. Or you can use my BaseHueExpress.exe application (attached below) to change your BaseHue, this enables choosing other colors aside from the one provided by SPB MS.

Note:
a) The Color Theme background files are included in the Optional_Files Folder.
b) Only Default (#1) and Diamond (#3) changes your Today wallpaper with the same image when choosing the theme color from SPB Menu > Tools > Theme .

First of all, many thanks to the amazing work of greatbal. This theme is all his work, I only take credit for converting his wonderful work to VGA.

This was pretty challenging for me, especially since I don't have a VGA phone. I have tested this on my computer using an emulator, I hope it works on your phone.

This version is Layout C with 3 contacts pages. It was made to work on VGA(480x640) screens.

oops, sorry about that. I was working both on the heart and the phone contact icons. Finally decided to use the phone icon. I must have erroneously used the heart one on some layouts. Will try to work on the changes... may not be soon as i'm truly exhausted trying to finish the theme.

If anyone would be so kind enough, I could definitely use a hand in fixing the heart vs phone contact icons. :)

It's not an easy port to VGA devices. I will have to rewrite the layouts as the positions of the images are hard-coded. It's not an easy task. The VGA version may wait until I have a VGA device myself! :)

This background works pretty good when you use transparent icons/clocks/etc.

What I want to do is to use Aurora style in orange but with orange unread counters ... and then maybe use the aurora style in orange as background and not change all other theme colors to orange, except the unread counters ...

What I want to do is to use Aurora style in orange but with orange unread counters ... and then maybe use the aurora style in orange as background and not change all other theme colors to orange, except the unread counters ...

You can edit the qa_status.dat to change the unread counters to whichever color you like.

They were my themes with the coloured counters. You can do this by extracting the qa_status.dat file from my theme then overwriting it onto greatbals.

I might redo these themes if its ok with greatbal and post them here.

I just figured out the best setup using V1.1 and along comes V1.2. Beautiful work!

A couple of initial observations:

The weather description doesn't match the weather. It is currently sunny, high overcast and 84F in Allentown. However, the description says Fog. It looks like you included the "improved" weather descriptions from V1.1 into V1.2.

The SPB Phone Suite profiel icon was located in the lower right quandrant in V1.1. It is now "squished" into the top of the Now screen. The icon is too large for the current location. Could it be moved back?

Next step is to experiment with the color options.

GREATbal, this is really exceptional work and completes SPB's MS 2.1. This actually will sell their software (SPB are you listening?).

This is quite polished (only some very minor blemishes that I can find).

Regarding the wallpapers, I like that you have stuck with generally subtle backgrounds that really make the content pop, as opposed to a loud background visually obscuring the content. This follows good design practices.

Congrats on the substantial effort and very nice completed theme. I really need to search for the small utility to loop me back into MS 2.1 permantly now. WM 6.1 Home screen and Start button is now obsolete.

I did exactly what you are looking to do, regarding calendar and contacts. Find the member named Nite Stalker. In his signature he has it listed as a couple of contributions that he has made to the community. Works great:)

Just wated to say a BIG THANK YOU :D and to note that this is very cool :cool: and I'm sticking with it on my ELF until the touch pro come out in UK :p.

Anyway, a couple of questions (excuse my ignorance and for being a noobie):
1) I understand this is based on the MS 2.1 software and it is not something I've seen in the original app... but is it possible to put a tasks icon (with number of active tasks) next to the email, sms, missed calls icons on the main screen?

I don't have a VGA device.

It's not an easy port to VGA devices. I will have to rewrite the layouts as the positions of the images are hard-coded. It's not an easy task. The VGA version may wait until I have a VGA device myself! :)

Seriously, sorry but you may have to wait for others to make this for you.

Or if someone donates a VGA device, Iwould be very much willing to spend time in doing the VGA version. :p

If I had a VGA device to donate I would give it to you for all your hard work. I do have this ppc emulator (http://www.downloadsquad.com/2008/03/02/microsoft-device-emulator-lets-you-run-windows-mobile-6-on-your/) on my PC and I will share with you how to find it.

I have been using it for testing and it works great. I have started to try a VGA conversion but it is pretty complicated and I don't have a working theme yet. The QVGA version has helped me so much and saved a lot of wear and tear on my phones soft reset button.

It's obviously not ideal because it doesn't go well with the black Diamond theme, but it goes much better than the grey HTC one I had before, lol. Which, by the way is all I kept coming up with when searching. Apparently that dark grey is call black, because "black comm manager" just kept leading me to the various HTC grey ones. I also had the same problem when searching for a black action screen.

Someone posted many pages back that to solve that issue, he uninstalled MS2.1, deleted the isntallation folder to remove any existing files form previous themes, reinstalled MS2.1, reinstalled the Diamond theme, and everything fine after that. I don't know if this would work for you. I haven't experienced that problem using different sims of different providers from where i am. And I wasn't able to replicate any of those problems either.

And, oh, please make sure you are using MS2.1, someone else mentioned before that he mistakenly installed MS2.0, hence this result. When he uninstalled MS2.0 and installed MS2.1 and reinstalled the Diamond theme, all is well.

You have to edit the registry. Somebody posted a few pages back the 2 reg files. If you have a registry editor on your device, you can just copy them to your device and import via the registry editor. And then go to SPB settings to edit the Main Menu.

PS: Ingles na lang tyo p're, baka mapagalitan ulit. hehe :p

thanks for the link. I was able to edit the xml file, I just wasn't sure what to remove. I looked for anythng anything related to 'clock small' and I got lucky and removed the right parts. thanks a bunch it looks awesome now.

I have an idea/request. I am wondering if you would consider doing the
weather page with the Samurize 2 weather icons, provided by 420Mac, but resized to fit the large icon size of BeyondInvisible's weather icons.

I just figured out how to upload. So here's the Speeddial.xml that I use to get the 3x3 contacts page. You'll need to replace the one that you have in your qa_layout.dat. I don't know which layout you are using, or I'de have changed it for you. Oh,by the way this is for thelayouts with one contact page.

why not assign a hardware button to start S2U2? I used my TyTN's upper-right top "I.E." button to lock my phone

Will these weather icons be compatible with the "coloured" versions of Diamond v 1.2?

This is what you need. Just unzip the file onto your computer, and from that folder copy the qa_layouts.dat file into the \Program Files\Spb Mobile Shell folder in your phone.:)

on my htc touch, the pinned items dont work properly anymore (in the mru screen of layout H). Some items cannot be removed anymore, I also get strange messages like pinned items cannot be more than seven.

THis happened after I did a hardreset and then installed 1.2 version
Should I also include some 1.1 files perhaps, I never had any trouble with that version for the pinned items

it's not in the registry, it's a a couple of different icons in a couple of different DAT files. Unless you know how to ue the dat files, I would wait for greatbal to fix this. Well there's 2 files that you need.

Get the main file, extract and copy it into your SPB Shell directory.

Then get the theme which relates to the backdrop you've have, extract and copy that into your SPB Shell directory.

Reset and voila!!

After a trial and error method of overwriting .dat files I found out that those icons are in ql_bkg_now.dat and qp_bkg_now.dat files. I would change those files, but when I change the .dat extension to .rar I can see all the files, but they are password protected, which comes as no surprise as I would expect some kind of copyright protection from the creators.

here is my adjustments to Greatbal theme & some work from few other authors
i worked for couple of hours on graphics & xml & dat files
but the main bulk come from others .. my work was tewaking things to my liking

this is the white diamond theme, "practical" (see my posts) with 3 tabs only. the clock on the main screen takes you to calender where the alarm is moved to bottom. The launcher screen has 6 icons + light&profile&weather

The NEW thing is the contacts, now the tab has 4 more pages each is 12 contacts..this is from a russian developer originaly, but i fixed it to work for diamond & fixed the landscape

the white background squares change color with theme color

all work in landscape & protrait

please check & let me know what u think...i like feedback to improve

If you do a search on the forum you will find a script for it. I don't have the link here, but there is a way to do it. You have to install mortscript to use it. When you installed it you can switch between the sbp contact app and another contact app (PocketCM, iContact, etc.)

If you noticed, I left out Layouts D, E, F and G on this new version. This is mainly to avoid confusion with the layout naming convention of version 1.1.

I was thinking of making these layouts (D-G). But, I guess it's not advisable anymore since the Layouts A, B, C and H can be made compatible with SPB Phone Suites buy installing the SPB Phone Suites profile.dat included in the zip file under Optional Files folder.

I also have an 8525. I mapped Lock Device to a hardware button (the PTT shortpress). That way I can lock my device with a single press of a button. :)

if you end up making a layout F on your new version 1.2, please check that the touch area of the profile button. on the version 1.1 it seems really small and hard to hit or activate with fingers, i suggest you make the touch area a little bigger please.

This is for 4x3 contacts In other words 12 contacts per page. It is great, because pics are large, but you still have 12), it was very kindly provided by mtkates.
It is for layout C. Just unzip and drop it into your MS folder.
The include frame is to be used in photo editor software if you wish to add frames to pics.

This thread only has about 240 posts, so I think you mis-typed the number, or is it in a different thread, as I'd like to see the 9th games icon too.

Agree, I really use the big profile button on the now screen a lot, that's why my prefered layout on 1.1 is D, as I do not have spb phone suite installed.

If you just show where to edit to get it, I can adapt one of the new layouts.

I also liked the large profile indicator. My problem with the new small version, is that although it looks great in the Now screen, once you add the file to phone suites, it changes the indicator in phone suites on the Today screen also. Obviously it looks pretty silly with the other indicators, so I had to disable it from showing on the Today plugin, since I do use both the Now screen, and Today screen.

I installed tylr's cab from post 202 but this only put in the extra 'Active Tasks' tab, not a games tab.

This thread only has about 240 posts, so I think you mis-typed the number, or is it in a different thread, as I'd like to see the 9th games icon too.

the Games menu is there.....first go to SPB MShell Settings....in Menu, tick box for Games and it will then come out on your Programs Menu.

Mobile Shell does not have the option display different weather icons at night. It's a limitation of SPB MS not of this theme.

I found that by pressing the OK button on my Tilt, I can exit to the Today screen. I think that using the regular SHELL 2.1 skins there was another way to do this.
