In the zip-File (Diamond 1.2) from Greatbal is a Folder named "Optional Files" in this is a Subfolder named "BackgroundImage" there are all Diamond Backgrounds;)

The thing is I do have phone suite. The new layout in 1.2 moves phone suite to the top bar and changes the icons. I kinda like the icons it uses now. Is weather.xml the only change you made to qa_layouts?

As you can see, I made this to work on the black background.

Other backgrounds are done. It doesn't look good, but it's your choice! The "Coal" background is kind of wicked. Who would have thought to check weather under water.

Please use the correct layout for your theme. Just extract, and replace files in the \Program Files\Spb Mobile Shell.

As I guess you don't read the thread carefully. First thing you have to do is install the file I uploaded to Megaupload. Then you can find the background theme to overwrite the weather files.

Do not just download the *BG_Weather.dat and install them. You do need the qa_layouts.dat to make it work. Both files are included in the main file from Megaupload.

Also, I should have said that this only works with portrait. Landscape will be supported later, I guess.

this qa_layouts.dat files would be modify my Launcher.xml, so this is better to fit the photo from edit mainweather.xml as better.

I DO have it in transparent already. It should be in the file uploaded to Megaupload. The reason I created with different backgrounds is because it looks clearer, shaper and when you click on it to go to the detail page, there's no color shown through. It looks better that way.

As the instruction said, if you're happy with the transparency, you're done. You don't have to download any specific background weather at all. It should work with any background you throw at it.

Landscape version is not difficult, it's just that I don't have time. I'm working on a new design. So if you can, Greatbal, by all means, make it work for people to use for me.

I wish SPB would fix their programs to make it work like Weather Panel. But for now, that's what you have to live with, unfortunately. I know it's funny to see the bright sun at 10 PM.

But, everything is just an illusion! ;)

In my case, I turned automatic updating off, in order to conserve battery, but when the PPC is cradled, it can connect and update via ActiveSync (at least, SBSH Pocket Weather behaves this way).

Wrong weather forecast? it's normal from Gismeteo.

But, you don't have to use Gismeteo as your weather source. This weather forecast is so unreliable.

You can go to the website below and read. You can change the source to Weather.com. I'm using it now. It's more reliable, and it does have more cities, more "accurate weather forecast"

You don't have to turn off automatic update, though. It won't update unless you have data connection. Turn on "Update when docked" so get weather update when you plug in your phone to the computer.

The pics are inside the DAT files. You have to use a program like WinRAR, WinZIP or 7Zip to open the archives. There is a how-to thread (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=378367) here, which has a password you need to use to get at the images, as well as use to re-encrypt the files.

2. Extract it.

3. Find the correct layout for your theme, and open that folder. (It should have Layout A, Layout B, Layout C, and Layout H)

4. Please copy those two files to your phone \Program Files\Spb Mobile Shell folder, over write them.

5. Reset your phone. You're done!

Wrong weather forecast? it's normal from Gismeteo.

But, you don't have to use Gismeteo as your weather source. This weather forecast is so unreliable.

You can go to the website below and read. You can change the source to Weather.com. I'm using it now. It's more reliable, and it does have more cities, more "accurate weather forecast"

You don't have to turn off automatic update, though. It won't update unless you have data connection. Turn on "Update when docked" so get weather update when you plug in your phone to the computer.

SPB Weather does not use PNG or separate icons, but the whole file in .BMP, so there's no PNG for you :( Sorry!

It sounds like the problem is in your end. Try to uninstall Mobile shell, remove the whole folder, and reinstall them all back and see if it works. Sorry to hear that.

I am using layout C v1.2 with Samurai icons - how do I get rid of the weather description at the bottom of the screen as the description is already present in the samurai graphics?

Also the graphics obscure the temp display and date - these are absent from the demo pictures in post one - have I done something wrong or does this happen to everyone?

ps. do we actually need spb weather? I am using the weather built-in to mobile shell which seems to work ok.

I just deleted (make backup first) qa_weather_description.dat and soft reset and the description is gone.

now if we can just move down the graphic to fill in that spot we will be perfect.

For the members using the Samurai weather icons, I uploaded these dat files for the second page of weather. These icons match closely to BeyondInvisibles main weather page icons. He hasn't worked his magic to beautify these. But I'm hoping he does.

Back up your original .dat files and copy these over. You can copy one or both files.

The qa_weather_small_lock.dat is the 4 icons for the daily selections. The qa_weather_lock.dat is the bigger one that shows in the upper left of the screen. My suggestion is to copy them both over. If you don't like what you see, just replace with your old file.

I can't edit these. Any improvement requests need to go to BeyondInvisible. He's the man.:p

Credits go to 420Mac for dat files and Bob_55 for original graphics.

It's raining most of the time here in Seattle, that's why I really want to see nice icons for "Rainy days" look nice with the raindrops.

The thing is the weather of SPB MS is so wrong. You can read in other threads there are lots who complain about it. Compare it with other weather apps like Pocket Weather or the deafult HTC Today weather.

Then theres this SPB Weather app, where we can customize the weather source (like Weather.com) to get a more accurate weather forecast. Thats why I installed this app.

But the question is....where does SPB MS get its weather data? Does it have its own source and can we customize it? If I install SPB Weather...can I incorporate it with SPB Mobile Shell's weather tab?

Pmorganii, if I move the temp down, then it will look too crowded down there, since I still want to keep the title page "Weather" in Portrait mode, and the date information. Right now, I have the temp on the bottom if you switch to landscape mode.

Sorry Dinoalbert, I tried to re-produce your problem, but I can't seem to get it. It must be the beta version for your SPB weather?!

If you can, back up everything (Contacts, programs) and do a hard reset on your phone. Then download again, and install the trial version of SPB shell, and weather.

If all works, then using your serials to register again.

Good luck. I don't know what else to tell you.

So true. I can't get away from your Samurai icons. Looks more like a weather forcast than a wallpaper. But you know you're gonna get tons of request to share your latest work of art.

By the way, don't change it to "Overcast" just for me. "Heavy Cloudy" just doesn't sound right. I thought it was a Russian translation problem, from SPB. "Heavy Clouds" I've heard of. Like I said, it was a silly suggestion.

Hello Seattle neighbor, I haven't heard of "Overcast" when watching weather forecast on TV, that's why I thought Heavy Cloudy is appropriate :P. I'll make a change for you. I personally like Heavy Cloudy.

But I just noticed one thing now....my weather icon in the main page of the Weather Tab is different from that of the 2nd page (qa_weather_lock.dat) although they both show the same Hi/Low temprature. The 1st page image shows a Thunder+Shower....but on the 2nd page it shows a Cloud+Sun image. I think the 2nd page is the more accurate one because now here in Manila its sunny.

Maybe you should use weather.com template instead of the default one from SPB weather (Gismeteo), which has been known for inaccurate weather forecast.

For the icons, it should be the same order for all, whether it's Samurai, Samurai Diamond, Diamond, default SPB, ect...

I had an idea for a decent solution for you. But it didn't make enough of a difference.

420Mac had posted a new theme yesterday. It included his large Samurize weather icons. You had mentioned that the icons for the second page matched better to your actual conditions. Well he is the author of that set.

Since he had just posted his matching big icons I figured that I could adapt them to any theme. So I spent quite a bit of time working on it and was 90%successfull. I applied it and took screen shots of both his and BeyondInvisibles.

I'll post the screen shots. Fiirst 2 are 420Mac's and second 2 are BeyondInvisible's

Anyway it's not enough of a difference to adapt your layout. Plus it's not perfect. I could make it perfect , but it' not a good enough option. Anyway I tried for ya.

Bad news is that I completely got some files confused and ruined my layout and the backup. Oh well, gotta goto work in 5 hours so I'm going to sleep
now. I'll redo my setup tommorow.

2) Initially I would have settled for 3 days, just to get more info. I wanted to not have to make you make too many adjustments.
Then I figured I'de show you what I really want. The second request is very doable. Since all the components are already there.
And refresh or swiping my finger always takes me back to main weather.

3) No I can't. You can go into weather.xml, play around, and customize it.
I go in there, screw around, screw around some more, and F it up.:( It's a sad and proven fact.

I am using Layout C and Im getting a 5-day forecast. Did you try to tap on the weather image? By doing so you will get a 2nd page of the weather tab showing you the 5-day forecast

You can't use the full page icons because you have no page to put them on.

You can however use the smaller icons for your weather page. Just place these files in your folder.

That, I think, you have to ask SPB Weather tech support. I don't know at what time they separate night, morning, day and evening. According to my cellular plan, my night starts at 7:00 PM ;)

Very cool...thanks...I've renamed it from .dat to .zip and attached it. If you only change the XML files necessary within it to change it to carousel, that would help me do a diff to figure out how to do it myself in the future also!

Brenn, I'm not that talented, nor do I have a 240x240 device or photoshop.
BeyondInvisible is the man to ask. He's got graphic skills and a great understanding of the .xmls.
My only part in this is to help share his work just cuz I think that they look so cool.
The batches of icons are all included in his download folders. In the various weather.dat files.

I actually think that most people know how to insert those.

May I suggest that you include a seperate folder with the .xmls in your downloads.
That way it will save people some steps in adapting their own layouts.
And it should also help make it evident that, that's all that is needed to make it work for them, should they have a different layout than the ones offered.

Here ya go. I had time to resolve your weather screen. Portrait is good landscape needs temp position relocated. I didn't know where you want it placed. If you look a couple of pages back, you'll see how to move it. Or wait for me to get back. I'll be gone to a wedding in S.F. for 3days.

As far as your bottom bar, on your detail page, I'm not sure what you want. This bar actually looks good to me.
Although the look doesn't match your main tabs. It's better than your other secondary bars. In my opinion those are the ones that look really weird. There are blanks where it look like theirs supposed to be tiles? The arrow tiles don't fit the blanks?

Just my opinion, if you replace those with a solid one, then you can also use it on your detail weather page. It'll be in your background.dats

I'm back. I changed your qp_background.dat to give you an idea of what I meant regarding your bottom bars. I used the tabs from the original SPB shell, so they change color when you change your .tsk or spb theme color.

i have i request please ... i have a vga device and i'm trying to convert your work to vga resolution ... and to do that i have to double the resolution for every image (which you have resized for the qvga theme ) .. and when i do that i lose the quality of them .. so if you have those amazing icon in high resolution (double sized) i'll be very glad if you upload them for me ... :)

G layout is almost like Layout C but the calendar is replaced by MRU. So the main tabs would be clock screen (whether its analog or digital) then MRU then menu launcher then weather tab then contacts (one page).

The main difference also is that layout G uses Spb Phone Suite.

I also use this layout (layout G) so I would appreciate it a lot if you could make for this one. :)

I want to remove the title “Contacts” from contact page, how to do that? I did manage to remove all the titles from the rest of the pages except "Contacts". And how can I remove the titles of the icons for my Programs page? What I mean is (Organizer, Internet, Multimedia, Tools, Programs, and settings) I just want to see the icons with out any text.



I think you should just re-download the weather files again, and replace them per instruction. Layout C is working good, unless you've done some modification with them. It should not be over lapsed.

On your private message, just remove the reference regard "PageLabel" It should be in "SpeedDial.xml" file

The text under icons can be removed by removing this whole line:
<Rect Name="TextRect"/> in the "Launcher.xml" file

Or just use the one I already did. Look under my signature.

That's the max resolution I have, unfortunately. For VGA, maybe you should just use smaller weather icons. I remember a thread on high resolution icons somewhere in this XDA community, but can't remember the link to that thread. Just search for it, I guess.

So unless someone will mod my graphics to match up Diamond V.2, I won't support it. :( Sorry.

I might be mistaken, but I'm almost sure that BeyondInvisble's layout H will work for you.
Greatbal made layout G in his first release. Layout H is the equivelent to it in his second release.
Please give it a try. If it doesn't work for you, just post your layout. It's quick to do. Even quicker than it took to type this response.;)
Please let me know either way. That way other G users will know if it works.

BeyondInvisible, your Samurai 3 icons work easily on Greatbal's new theme. I posted on his thread and included the edited qa_layout and weather icons. There was no need for the qa_weather_big.dat in that theme.

Thank god there is only one layout. The only thing I need to do is to move the back button. Right now I have to press to the left of it to activate the press. When I reposition the text, the press point also moves. So far wherever I move it I still have to press to the left. Aside from that it works great.

I wasn't even gonna download Samurai 3, but it seems to suit that theme.

That's good. If you don't really mind, some texts will be obscured by the graphic though, especially when there is snowing, or heavy cloudy; unless you resize the icons. But then it's not "Big" weather icons anymore when it's not "big" ;) It won't work for Samurai Diamond icons.

I won't be using V.2, so I didn't know he removed the main weather, and keep the detail weather page.

About the back button, I don't know what he did in V.2, so why don't you go into his weather.xml file and see what's in there, then match up with that in my weather.xml? It might be just the background or different size of the "back button" issue.

So if anyone doesn't mind using a different detail weather page, I guess any of my second page weather will work for V.2.

For users that prefer night weather, I'll upload the file later, and here's the preview. It doesn't really function as I would like it to be, but I guess there's so much I can do with the SPB weather because of its limitation.

Dinoalbert, I don't use V.2, so I think Greatbal is eliminating the Main Weather page, and keep the detail weather page.

So you can just extract my Weather.xml and replace it with the one in YOUR qa_layouts.dat, and copy all my files to your phone. Reset, and you've done. Instruction is in my first page.

By the way, I think these layouts doesn't work with Greatbal's theme V.2 without some modifications of the weather.xml file. I'm not using it, and like I said I don't support V.2. So if anyone has problem with V.2, I'm sorry. :(

If you use any theme with Main Weather and Detail weather, then you can have BOTH Day and Night big icons weather :) I hope that would satisfy somebody that only wants night icons, but still have the day forecast.

I think you missed the answer, on page 20 .You must have skipped the last few pages.

Okay, I'm now done with my sarcasm. Time to try and help.

I remember it cuz it is structured way different than most layouts. Nothing like I have seen before.
The normal procedure doesn't apply to that one. I adapted it.
If I were you, I would try the layout I posted. Also please read my response on that page.

If that is Diamond 2.0 you need to make modifications. I posted in Greatbal's thread a layout to switch to Samurai icons Ver. 1.3.
Later in that thread I posted what I just now uploaded in the post above. I wanted you and BeyondInvisible to see it.
If you want to keep the diamond page layout, Tom108 posted icons that he resized here on page #21.
Looks like you can use those with no modifications.

Anyway just some options for you. If those are the night icons, I haven't taken a look at those yet.

An Idea for all to try! Day to Night Weather Icon application switcher

As I previously stated.. with more thought into it. A nice touch would be is to have the normal Big.Dat Weather Icons and replace the small.dat weather at the bottom that would also be Day weather Icons into the new Night Samurai Version 1.4 (that was nicely done), then we can all have Day and Night setup..

Better yet maybe make an application/mortscript where it switches the weather dat files at a certain time let's say 5pm, and switches it to Night weather dat files.. Well GreatBal, Azzambm, AC or any other creative mind should take a try to this one.. They're creativity have been outstanding achievements here in XDA.. This would really be a nice feature.. Any one intrested..? :)

When you unzip that file you will find a folder with the qa_layouts.dat file. Just put that file into the Spb Mobile Shell folder of your phone. Along with the all the Samurai Diamond V.1.2 weather.dat files that you downloaded. Reset and you're done.

The downloads from page one of this thread all have folders for different layouts. It doesn't matter which folder you choose. The only differences between them are the different qa_layouts. Which of course your gonna use the one I provided for your specific theme.

Pick anyone of them and copy all the files except the qa_layouts.dat. If you accidentally copy that over also, don't worry just put my file back in there and it's all good.

Make sure you first back up your files in case you need them.
Make sure you use the right version. You'll find it very easy and safe to do.

Weather.xml is for the second page.

The thing is that Night weather use a different dat file, and day weather use a different dat file. It CAN BE the same file, but then it needs a different layouts.dat file.

So if a mortscript changes the dat files, it still needs to reset the phone in order to take effect.

Unless you want a smaller icons, which show both Day and Night, then it can't be done. For that, I already have a solution which you can find in V.1.3

Im sorry I never responded. I went on vacation right after I posted and just got back. Since then I have been trying to fix the bars. Keep getting a memory error and have to reboot in safe mode to fix it. Not sure where I am going wrong as im pretty sure all the files are in the right format. Hopefully Ill figure it out soon. Lol, I feel you man... Alot of props you Beyond and Gagaza, B.I. your theme is truly a work of art and Gagaza your mods are redefining more creativity into GB'z diamond.

Will one of the mods have the original weather icons on the top (water drops all over screen) and having Samurai Night icons on the bottom. This would be nice. (basically a flip flop with GA's icons with the mod and adapting the new V2 with weather day details and the bottom buttons back and setting as is on V2)

I made this in Paint/PhotoShop to show the idea of having the big day dat file and having the bottom night dat file.. Since It's been said that makin a script to change day dat's into night would still need to make the PPC reset, so then I thought I'd show in view of this is the other option idea.. What do you all think..? :)

Sorry Gagaza, I didn't mean to step on your toe :) But I've got so many private messages asking me to support V.2. I thought I had a version close to what V.2 has on post #181. Could it be because I didn't post it as a release?. The only different are the "back" and "Setting" buttons?!

But then I found out last night that the coding is also different. No wonder some people can't use the back button.

So that's the reason why.

It can only be done with Paint/Photoshop, like you did.

SPB Shell or Weather doesn't support it. It simply cannot be done. Who knows, maybe in the future, SPB 2.0 will have current weather, and animation or all you can think of.

I don't use that theme, and doesn't know how it work. If you upload your layouts.dat file here, I can help you out. I tried to download from the provided link, but somehow I couldn't finish downloading. It could be my company is blocking file sharing sites.
