Where do you report a bug? Text entry does not work with the Touch Diamond Keypad or Keyboard on the Wizard running 19588. Does work with the Touch Diamond QWERTY.

Great find! Thanks!

I like how the screen cap shows aim up and running along with the status of contacts, but yet there's no connectivity on the task bar.

Looks good, but it's slow and a memory hog. It also doesn't seem to support proxy connections. Back to Palingro for me.

moegdaog
23rd June 2008, 09:59 PM
its slow of course because its a beta...when the real one or version 1.0 comes out it will deff. be alot faster and not taking as much program storage space. Its a beta for a reason...this thing has huge potential...do you remember what the older p.o.s one looked like? the one they made for WM2003CE? garbage stuff...now this aim for windows mobile actually looks and feels like the new aim for vista.

nufsaid
23rd June 2008, 10:01 PM
idk why, but mine is hella fast, no lag on either switching conversations or input, landscape to portrait is also very fast...don't know why, do you have it installed on device or storage card? i'm on device.

Not working for me keep getting the error message "invalid password or username" mayb I need to create a new screenname?

1jaxstate1
23rd June 2008, 11:25 PM
It's fast on my 8525, and the text entry is working just fine, but it is a memory hog! It's still nice for a beta. And now I get to save on my txt messages.:D

Oh yeah, that constant data connection is chomping away on my battery, but that's expected.

laakness, what on earth gave you the idea that something for yahoo..would work with an AOL beta instant mesenger applications.... O! I know....your under the assumption there are magicians here with magical problem solving skills... correct my good lad?

anywsyz...that app gives me no slow problems...especially after a good 'ol fashion daily soft reset to get my program storage memory rolling along and not getting all clogged with running programs constantly. SOft resets solve alot of laggy problems, you have to soft reset once atleast every other day, once a day if ur a power user...see if that helps, and remember it is a betaa

I installed AIM beta on my ATT Tilt successfully. However, when I tried to run it using WIFI connection, it just hangs there as "Connecting...." for a long while. I have no idea what's going wrong. I can't test it using my data plan as I only have the TMO $5.99 w/ proxy access.

any ideas if it woks on wifi connection or not?

Works fine on my Treo 700Wx, albeit a tad sluggish but it's a nice interface. I kinda wished it could be pinned to the today screen and it had a vibrate mode.

I installed this on my Tilt as well and installed without a hitch, but when I try to connect I get a "Authentication server error" I've tried both WiFi and 3G and get the same error on both. So unfortunately I haven't been able to try this.

yes im using it right now through wifi. You probably have some settings errors...check your wifi settings and just ask around, maybe you just need a hard reset after you installed the aim software

Nice find and I can see many people are going to love this, but for us over here in Europe its wasted excitement imho as AOL mess was a pile of crap when I used it previously back when.I remember when the arses bought out or at least took over ICQ and screwed it up completely....and this is seriously not much better which is sad. But I guess each to their own.

Works on TMO 5.99 Proxy. Load up IE before launching AOL Mobile.

Wait, I read through the thread. Does this use SMS like the old client, or data connection?

I'm glad they're finally developing a client though. Third-party apps are way too expensive. Agile messenger, etc. $45? Are you kidding me!

That, my friend, is like music to my ears. Haha do you think once v1.0 is out third party apps like agile, im+ and all those will start losing customers? :P

In my opinion, if JiveTalk stays free when it's out of alpha/beta/delta/epislon/whatever it is now then AIM has a problem.

But definitely, Agile & IM+ are over. Nobody will want to pay just to use AIM, plus JiveTalk has all of those ims integrated and looks way better than Agile & IM+. Pay-to-im is over with.

I tried installing it on both the storage card and main memory, still came up with same error. I know it can't be my settings on my phone either because my internet works over both WiFi and 3G and so does Jivetalk. So it must be something with the beta.

what rom are you using? What happens when you try to open Beejive? I have had some troubles with it myself, but the most recent version seems to be running pretty smoothly on most roms now.

Yeah, very slow on my tilt, connection is fine, but keyboard lag, and screen oreintation lag, and switching IMs, heck, everythings slow. But it's still beta. I'm exexting good things. I also like the new windows live mobile. pretty nice :)

Wait which client uses SMS to communicate?

Since I have an unlimited SMS plan, SMS is actually advantageous to me as it saves battery life and also allows an always-on option since I would be signed on at their server with them relaying messages to me (ala Sidekick). I hate having to open the program and sign on, only to sign off once i quit the program again. I'd prefer if there was a low memory usage program that ran in the background and updated me as IMs come in without sucking battery life constantly connected to data.

You shouldn't be having connection issues on death v4 with BeeJive. I used it the whole time i was on that rom. what were the issues you had? This AIM is nice though.

you could just remap calendar to a different key, and leave AIM on the left soft key. I actually have my calendar as a today screen plugin so i don't use the left softkey for that. I agree it is annoying though.

the aim from aol is really slow and bulky compared to say fring which supports aim chat...

aim beta 2 is over 1mg and supports only 1 chat program, fring is only 600kb and supports over 5 chat program and voip, go figure...

It is bulky, but I love using it overall. Wish I didn't have to choose between what I think might be the best overall IM experience (ads don't seem to get in my way... yet? so far they're ok and if they help make it free and they stay like they are then that's ok too) with this client vs. the overall speed of some of the other free ones mentioned in this thread. I really only use AIM and not all the time at that, so I don't care about support of other IM types besides AIM. It's nice to finally have choices on WinMo after having so few options in prior years.

Palringo is awesome.

You can say that again! Much faster better more flexible than AIM. Thanks for hooking me up!
One question. Does everything go through their system? Do you have any idea how secure the voice and photos are on Palringo's site?
