Thanx for the work and upload man
Im currently using the 1.37.407. ROM but im guessing that it uses the .net Compact Framework 2.0 protocol, what i want to know is what is the big difference between that and the 3.5 version on your ROM, plz let me know coz i am always keen to eak out a bit more performance... :D
theloanranger
22nd June 2008, 08:47 PM
On .net CF apps in particular, you'll see a noticeable speed improvement IMHO.
re: the issues list in the first post, that refers to issues identified specific to this ROM.
Link in first post corrected.

There is DEFINITELY an improvement in speed. I wonder if it will slow down eventually like the others but so far it is definitely the fastest out there

I installed this from stock 1.34 and WOW what a difference! Just had the opportunity to use it for 3.5 hours straight with a combination of games, reading, video and tomtom7.
It was fast and slick. Never had to reset once.
I used it all the time with auto backlight and battery is still at 50%, so yes battery life defo improved.
I was slightly unhappy with my diamond but now its everything i hoped it would be.
THANKS :)

I've tried 1.37.405.1 and 1.37.707.1. Now I flashed to this ROM. I can tell you that this one is the fastest yet. And I wasn't really impressed by the 707 (SEA) one. More lags than the 405. I'm really satisfied with this cooked ROM, thanks a lot!!

Good job my man, fast and furious. The ROM is efficient and the memory seems to be a tad better as well. No issues that I have seen so far, but I have not gone in deep yet. The only thing missing is the animated startup which I just manually entered in the registry (I like it), but on the other hand you left it open for customization. Thanks for leaving the OEM files on there. What do you have planned for this ROM?

This will be as possible as extracting working Diamond 3D drivers on a TytnII :p
Sorry pal, but you'll have to wait for the US releases.
Blame it on your carriers - providers :(

Tell me which rom you used before.
I have tried them all...
- The 1.35.426 which came with my device
- Elite 1.0
- (the widespread-hyped Euro/Mideast one which I thought was crap)
- PDAVIET v01
- 1.37.707.1
Okay - I've flashed again - now on 1.37.456.2 WWE and it is certainly better than this one.
To be honest I didn't too much time on 1.37.405.1 before flashing to 1.37.456.2 but I can definitely feel a difference in responsiveness with TFL3D and everything else

there is a audio booster bug when enabled, after sometime the sound produced by earphones would be "tiny" (bassless)
only way to resolve it is to disable audio booster while music is playing and unplug and replug in back to the htc jack..
if u can fix it, i am getting yr rom :)
and is it possible to make one for 1.37.707.1?

OK, you're new and I know it might be confusing as I reported to Olinex .;)
You're simply running the wrong HardSPL.
You need to install unsigned developer version. And do a hard reset after flashing. (find it in your manual)

Can someone check settings - buttons.
i guess we should see 6 at least, but I only find one...?
Maybe i am missing something and it might not be a bug.
Running this ROM now 24 hours (playing with it for at least 6) and It looks we have a good base to cook with.

Very pleased with the ROM, thank you.
The device is pretty much almost upto my initial purchase expectations thanks to this ROM.
One feature request if at all possible. Really would greatly appreciate it if someone could work out how to remove certain tabs from the touchflo 3d.

23rd June 2008, 11:31 AM
The ethos behind TLR ROMs is to make them stock in appearance, as fast as possible and easily updated.
None of us like reflashing our devices every week, so TLR ROMs will be updated via the 'Additions' package for minor tweaks and updates as they appear, with full ROM flashes available only in the event of significant updates.
I'm just downloading the 1.37.456.2 ME ROM to see if there's anything useful in there.

all the ROM's i have tried have that, only the one programmable button (for the call button) so yeah its not you. But you can make some changes to the call end long press under Settings - system tab - Long Press End Key. but that's it, so no its not just you, its everyone. Think you can change that in a cooked ROM?

This ones probably best answered by "theloneranger" unless anyones tried yet - BUT - does this Rom work with bbconnect (BlackBerry) or are we still waiting for walshieau and the HEX editted Elite 2.0?
(Foot Note to explain why I'm so keen on a bbconnect fix!!!)
As a heavy business user getting my email straight to my phone (via blackberry connect) is soooooo important and being without it is "killing me" and I'm only hanging in there because the Diamond really is great to use in all other respects and I keep getting "glimmers" of hope that the bbconnect issue will be fixed?
theloanranger
23rd June 2008, 11:58 AM
I'm not a bbconnect user myself, so no idea if it works.

This is definitely the fastest ROM to date. You'll really notice the difference when you launch Opera.

OK yeah nice ROM man, it is faster than the standard 1.37 ROM's (i noticed you have tweaked Glyph cache up to 32KB form 8KB, and increased the filter cache up to 4096 sectors, nice)
One problem i have noticed and cant find a solution to is the clock on the Home scree is in 24 hour mode (no pm, am) and not 12 hour mode like it used to be, how do you change it back, i don't see an option in the clock settings page, what am i missing... 24 hr clock bugs me, cumon who in the UK uses 24 hour clock ;) lol
thanx in advance ppl
PS. love the implementation of the MoDaCo UK localisation project :D

Thanks for the offer to help :) I'm not technical enough to fully understand why bbconnect doesnt work from one Rom to the next as there seem to be a few reasons - the Thread below deals with current progress and discussion - Walshieau is working on a fix for the next Elite 2.0 release - maybe he'll share some of the more "techy" stuff with you?
Thanks again......

A new version of the 'additions' is now online directly in ROM via AppToDate.
Included are:
- updated EnlargeStartMenu from ME ROM
- updated TaskManager from ME ROM
- updated VolumeControl from ME ROM
- updated XT9 from ME ROM
- updated YouTube from ME ROM
Update is approximately 4MB.
This is what I call CLEVER & good service !
I decided to stick with your release(s) for a while (untill you let me down :D)
You might open a Paypal account (hint)
Gonna run AppToDate now an see if the cork stopped the leak in the ship :p
EDIT: I hope all goes well as the previous tlr-diamond additions cab is over written.
EDIT II: Job well done - everything went fluidly. Damn, if all Chef's would use ApptoDate, the world would be a better place

Superb ROM by the way. I tried them all (well at least 5 of them), this seems to be the fastest. And stays fast after a while!
I thought the TLR was the fastest until i flashed the ME ROM. yuo can notice the difference especially the 3d touchflo!!

I'm working on as many performance enhancements as possible, including identifying leaks, and these will be deployed OTA via AppToDate.
Sorry to bother you, but is the AppToDate started from the ROM, and will it download and update the components of the ROM automatically? And will it overwrite the old components?

Post 349: YES, it over writes old TLR settings. no, it does not remove programs.
You'll just need to optimize some personal settings again.

lol no voice speed dial is different thats the included Microsoft app, there should be a program called "Cyberon Voice Commander" its different and better coz you dont have to program in voices, and you can launch apps on it etc, i had it on my original ROM
and since you can only see the standard voice speed dial app, it does not seem to have worked 4 you either...
theloanranger
23rd June 2008, 05:41 PM
No, voice speed dial is the cyberon app... and is what comes on the diamond. There is a voice commander app by cyberon, but it's not in the standard diamond ROM.
You can see for yourself, uninstall the CAB and 'voice speed dial' disappears...
What you have installed is what is repackaged from the standard ROM!

OK so here's the deal...
UK ROM (1.37.405.1) - Cyberon Voice Speed Dial
ME ROM (1.37.456.2) - Cyberon Voice Speed Dial
Asia ROM (1.37.707.1) - Cyberon VOICE COMMANDER
I'll repack that in a bit and put in the first post.
Guess we found another difference between the ROMs :)

I ran into a small issue with the AppToDate just now.
I was installing the new ROM update (just update, not a complete flash). It requires restarting of the device, I did that. But upon restarting, the devices had some strange behaviour; I was at the Password prompt (because I enabled the Lock feature on my device, for security reasons), but at this prompt, something was sending keystrokes to it and the device was not responding well (it was still responding, but something in the background was using a lot of the CPU cycles). I would see text being input into the Password prompt automatically, by something. I'm guess it's something about the post-update-installation that caused this.
Any ideas?
I would suggest others to disable the Lock before updating the ROM with AppToDate.

I'll write this from the point of view of someone who doesn't care about the technicalities. Sure, I'm a developer, but for my phone I just want it to work.
Thank you for this one. Extremely glad to have installed it, just had to re-install Google Maps as indicated but besides that, now my Diamond feels like it's worth the money I paid for it. Didn't pay for no darn lag-fest fitting in my pocket, right?
AppToDate feels and works perfectly judging by the update I just received as well. Thanks to little things like allowing OTA updates, this whole ROM feels good, works good and doesn't 'change' the experience besides making it better. For an OS, little details like this make or break things.
Also, the fact that nothing is 'missing' and all the original features remain is a real plus for this one. Contrary to, lets say, the missing keyboard functions in PDAVIET's ROM, or Tweeter missing in another (or was it the same?) ROM.
After installing this ROM by using the Hard-SPL Developers edition (of which I'd like to thank the creators), your data will be gone, and your mobile will be set to the English language. Besides that, there is no obvious difference between the original ROM and this one, basically all that happens is that the thing feels and ís faster. Improvements like the updated .NET engine must do their trick because TouchFlo 3D barely lags anymore.
Kudo's to you, have a pie.

I'd like to say thanks also... Works really well for me.
Just wondering though, should I be expecting the ROM version to appear as 1.35.707.3 (my original) in device information? Or is that down to me doing an SPB "rom upgrade" restore?
Cheers, Daz.

Something I wondered about as well. I concluded the version you see is the version of the TLR Diamond ROM, not of the stock ROM that is used as base for the 'cooked ROM'. I wonder why they don't just say 'custom ROM'.
The first post is the proof:
TLR Diamond ROM 1.08.06.20, based on the UK 1.37.405.1 (latest!) ROM.

anyone having problems with Opera on this Rom?
I was lying in bed surfing the net :p I had phone connected to the charger, and using WiFi here. It got quite hot (it always does) but opera was shutting down on me all the time.

Credit to you. So, now you have our IP's I guess?
PS. You might have noticed that I reccomended your ROM for signing by Olinex team if you don't mind. It is simply the best available yet.
Used it for a whole day, moderate usage, some gaming, sms, google maps loading, internet and still got 65% capacity.
As for the memory leak, I started with 47 mB this morning and stil had 25MB this evening in "program" This without emptying cache or closing applications.

from my experience: don't tap, wait. sometimes it took a longer time, maybe related to the waiting for the phone signal maybe because of other processes. let it be for a while don't jump to tap it:D
same thing like installing a program, getting full bars and "remaining one second" but it'll take another minute to finish...:D

Hi - ok, I hard reset the device and let it take its time without rishing it. It started, played the intro movie on how to use touchflo and then touchflo started and it promtped me to install Vodafone settings - which I did. It then restarted and allowed me to put in my SIM unlock code. It then went to the 'tap here to start TouchFLO' screen and has now been there for over 3 minutes. I can switch the display on/off and tapping the display switches the backlight on again once it has faded....but I can do nothing else with it...
ideas??

Have since soft reset several times - ended up immediately going to settings and turning TouchFLO off. This allowed me to config the entire device without issue - LOVE AppToDate! I then turned touchflo back on. It didn't crash but I have had some 'laggy' experiences with the whole interface. YouTube wouldn't load etc. Since then I have soft reset a couple of times and not it appears to be more stable with everything working...
Seems odd that everyone had such a good experience apart from me - is there something I may have done wrong??? It seemed to go wrong right after the auto-config of the vodafone settings - anyone else used this on Vodafone (UK)?

yeah soft reset, then when it comes to the tap here to launch TF3D screen wait a second, then tap the start tab and let the start bar come down, then press the start bar again so the bar goes away, a second later it should say loading TF3D :D
it does seem to freeze from time to time when u just tap the screen, doing that start bar thing don't seem to freeze it (an odd work around i know but hey it works)

I think the problem with enabling this would lead to too many conflicts in the phone, apparently HTC looked at making that ring work with scrolling but decided not to because it just didnt work that well.

On topic: I have the feeling that this ROM seem to run the battery flat quite fast.... I previously had the 1.35.403.1 and the 1.37.707.1 and they seemed to take a bit longer with one charge of the battery.... Maybe the .NET 3.5 is more of a burden (only significant change I guess...)?

0% when flashing? read through the hard SPL pages. You're not using the correct HARD SPL.
Teeter cab? it won't play on anythinh els than a Diamond though. As the chef whom did not included in his releases (viet?) to make it. or change to a ROM where it is included.

Hi!
I flashed my diamond with this ROM and it seems perfect.
I have just one question... because I was used to use PocketZenPhone with my old phon (Qtek S200) but now I cannot use it because TF3D doesn't permitt to use any othe items... do you think it would be possible to cook in a new ROM one profile swithcer?? like PZP is? That changes a lot of settings with one touch (also bluetooth, wifi, radio, etc..)??
Thanks!!

Good ROM so far, thanks for your efforts. You invited feedback, and I see that someone else has this problem too but the Diamond has suddenly lost the ability to play bass in music.
I flashed the ROM on Tuesday morning, listened to music perfectly until Wednesday evening when all of a sudden all bass in the music was lost and the playback was very tinny.
I do not know if this is an artefact of this ROM or a legacy from the base ROM but do you know the cause and/or solution? Is a fix planned?
Thanks, Cojo

What other ROMs have you tried?
By your last remark in regards to memory leak, I take it its still present?
I'm currently using the 137.456.2 ROM. I now have 50.06 memory free in program memory, I have been using all kinds of applications all day like Google maps and Tomtom etc. The ROM i'm using is quite good inregards to the memory leak.?Any plans to make a TLR based on 137.456.2 ? If yes will wait to flash.
I take it ApptoDate can't do that kind of "deep" update ?

re: basing it on 1.37.456.2, the core is the same as this ROM, and the improvements come from updated application bits from HTC, which are deployed already in the latest 'additions' via AppToDate.

For starters, great rom, better than the stock rom. Thank you for your hard work!
Possible bug: "All Messages" view in the sms/mms section does not display any messages, it says there are (for me) 14 messages. Messages are displaying in the Touchflow, also I can click on a message to see all from that person.
It seems to work sometimes, while at other times to not.

once we run apptodate, it will prompt you to update the apptodate. must update if not it will exit if we click cancel....
once install, reset as required. when we run it again, it prompt you for update the apptodate again....never ending...
Running the apptodate in Elite 2.0 is completely fine. I copy the apptodate.exe from my 2nd Diamond (Elite 2.0) to the other(TLR ROM 1.37.405.1), and it run without problem.

Previously testing ROM S.E.A. 1.37.707.1 WWE, but what the heck I'm gonna give this a try! Installing now & quite excited....:D
Finished installing... 1st thing detected was my local operator.
Cool it has Configuration setup for my local Hong Kong Operator so that was a relief & skip the hassle of manual input of proxy server settings on the device!
I might be speaking too soon but I think I'm going to like this much better.
Was just wondering, in terms of "fixes / enhancements", I'm assuming that it'll even including Registry tweaks that was posted on another link on this forum? I already noticed something when unit boots up, no htc.gif & none of that annoying wave sound each time during soft-resets. :p

Just POP, back to home screen, fully closed. Started it up again, but in a few minutes POP, off it goes.
I'm having problem with Opera 9.5 of this ROM (but this may apply to other ROMs as well):
Opera 9.5 doesn't seem to be able to load www.rottentomatoes.com (http://www.rottentomatoes.com) completely, and it would just terminate by itself.
I had exactly the same problem. I noticed that it was constantly on the same sites. I then suspected it had something to do with flash.
Once I disabled "Enable plug-ins" in Opera, the problems were gone!
Maybe it is some combination of this ROM/Opera with the Flash Lite cab from the start post

Yes this is a very annoying problem! It is indeed related to flash, when ever you try to access a page which has flash is embedded on it the browser completely shuts down/crashes. You're right on! It's a problem with the combination of this ROM with the Flash Lite cab from the first post.
Here's what I did to confirm it (in the following order):
Hard reset (I'm already using this ROM).
Went to rottentomatoes.com right away -> No problem. -> Manually quite Opera.
Install Flash Lite cab -> Went to rottentomatoes.com again -> Opera self termination.
Uninstall Flash Lite cab -> Went to rottentomatoes.com again -> No problem.
Looks like Opera 9.5 of this ROM and the Flash Lite cab from the first post don't really go well together.

Solved it..!
It turns out that Camera Shots is a search folder that combines the My Pictures and My Videos folders. Except, when you apply the TF3D language tweak (I did to get it in Dutch), one needs to make some registry changes.
For the TF3D language tweak I changed HKCU\MUI\CurLang from 409 to 413 (hex, for Dutch). To get the Camera albums to work again, I changed:
HKLM\Software\HTC\Camera\Image\SaveFolder_0409
HKLM\Software\HTC\Camera\Image\GpsSaveFolder_0409
HKLM\Software\HTC\Camera\Video\SaveFolder_0409
by replacing 409 with 413. Job done, all is fine again

A little update for you all...
- I am investigating the SMS problem which I have now had on the stock ROM too! This occurs VERY VERY VERY occasionally in my experience, and can be resolved by closing messaging (long press X) and reopening
- It seems Flash Lite doesn't like the UK shipped build of Opera 9.5. I am currently differencing this build with the one shipped in the Flash Lite featuring ROMs, and will deploy a fix via AppToDate TLR Additions as soon as I have one ready.
I hear from HTC a completely new build for the Diamond (again!) is out shortly, so likely I will have a new ROM based on that in due course.

If you mean the photo folders, you just have to rename these keys in the registry. So not change the values in them, but rename the keys themselves.
Offcourse this can be done with the registry editor of your choice. I did it with Resco.

Maybe it has been answered already but I cant find anything.
I have the issue with all OS releases that after a while the audio goes away. No audio in phonecalls, no audio in general.
Now I have hard resetted the device. After the initial calibration thingy you get the message that some applications will get installed in 3.. 2.. 1.. and then it starts.
This time I have resetted the device again before the time was over. So i got application or whatever installed. Now I have no Opera, No Touchflo3d and so on installed and the device is working fine. After some hours of use I still have audio isues anymore but I have the feeling the device works a bit slower then before with installing the default stuff.
Can someone please let me know what will get installed after the initial startup?

The new WWE ROM that has just been posted (1.37.401.3) contains newer components than the shipped WWE ROM, but no new components compared to the TLR ROM + additions EXCEPT it has TouchFlo 3D 1.0.1630.30 (vs .23).
I will be firstly making .30 available as a seperate install CAB for TLR ROM users, and secondly I will of course be baking it into my new ROM.
I WON'T be deployed it via 'additions', as I feel it should be a seperate install due to the fact it will inevitably increase storage memory usage (as it will install alongside the 'ROM' version (unavoidable)). Of course, this may not be too much of an issue and it may well be worth it!
Watch this space.

VERSION 1.0.1630.30 OF TOUCHFLO 3D (MANILA) IS NOW AVAILABLE IN CAB FORM FOR TLR ROM USERS.
You can grab the CAB installer here (http://theloanranger.romraid.com/tlr-manila.cab), please note you MUST go to System -> Settings -> Today and turn off TouchFlo 3D before installing (and then turn it back on after installing / rebooting).
Since this is a CAB rather than ROM integrated (for your convenience), it WILL use up to 20MB of Storage, so bear this in mind! It IS completely uninstallable.
A new TLR ROM with this integrated will be available in due course!

TLR fans (:p), i'll have a pre-release version of ROM 2.08.07.01 online shortly for your pleasure.
This has been brought forward by the updated Touchflo 3D (Manila), and numerous requests to produce a ROM where Manila is uninstallable.

According to the link on the right the new ROM has other enhancements aswell as the TF3D upgrade... http://www.tracyandmatt.co.uk/blogs/index.php
is that true??? and will they be included in your ROM
theloanranger

It's sorta true. It has enhancements over the previous UK / WWE ROM, but those enhancements (aside from the Manila) are already included in the TLR additions and the ME ROM.
Just testing the Manila uninstall and this new version will be ready to roll. Unfortunately, uninstalling circa 950 files seems to be taking an AGE!
Then I have to upload the ~100MB file too ;)

Cant wait, loved your first ROM.
Can anyone tell me which is the best settings to use in Sprite backup in anticipation for the new ROM.
The last time it asked for 3 levels on the restore and I just clicked one and hoped for the best.
I just want my programs and PIM data saving and then to restore back. I am worried because someone said that certain backups actually put old drivers etc back on over the new ROM stuff.

TheLoanRanger,
I noticed that in your rom you have disabled the functionality of muting the ring tone when the phone is turned face down.
I find that one of the nice features of the diamond, do you have any reason to have disabled it? I found the tweak to re-enable it and am teaching it to some people who is asking, so maybe other also like this function.
Great ROM, I am looking forward for the next release.
Thanks man

OK.... a 6 pack on your doorstep soon. you were one of the first to provide a good base ROM with well thought options, so I feel obliged :p
Just a Q; I am gonna stick for a while with your first release as I got it almost perfect (except for the icon issue)
If I continue using Apptodate on the first release, what is the risk that tweaks-updates for your V2 might slip in the V1 , and cause issues?
Is Apptodate for your releases ROM dependent?

The additions are versioned, v1 updates it's v1 additions, v2 updates it's v2 additions etc... so no worries there :)
For the 'thanks', I was gonna have the splash screen in the ROM as the standard one but with the names of donators in the background a really tiny grey font... cool or not?

Good job my man, fast and furious. The ROM is efficient and the memory seems to be a tad better as well. No issues that I have seen so far, but I have not gone in deep yet. The only thing missing is the animated startup which I just manually entered in the registry (I like it), but on the other hand you left it open for customization. Thanks for leaving the OEM files on there. What do you have planned for this ROM?
I like it tooo how did you enable it again? Please thank u very much.
cheers boys
