well test it for yourself ....
Dedicated to my new born child - AALYA (1 month old on 20th June 2008) .... peace
As usual, this is a port from my old lite rom ... coz dunno what is wrong with my pc since ill always get error when cooking a new rom ... so after flashing just cancel the o2 config. If u want the setting pls use the network cab (link located below @ post #3)

Hi kakarato,
Does it mean the "cross language" problem happens only when flashing ROM from PC? And by flashing from SD, you can up ROM cross language? Like flash WWE ROM from a CHT ROM-based device, for example ?

When you flash the ROM from PC you will execute the flash program and usually in the flash programme it will do some checking before it start flashing. Usually this kind of validation will check your device model, WM version, WM language and etc..:D
This kind of validation is to prevent you to flash the wrong ROM to the device. However when you use GanFan's tool to extract the ROM from the flashing program all this validation will be by pass. So you can do what ever you want

Just finished flash it. This ROM is extremely fast compare to your first released (build 1990 on March 2008). Will use the clean ROM for few days to test out stability.
In your next build you may consider to integrate the hack version o2Config from your first post. Then your ROM will be almost perfect :D
Your may also can consider to integrate the WINCE.NLS that can support China region and Chinese font and publish to China O2 Zinc web site. I think there must be lot o2Zinc fans will help to test the ROM and provide feedback in a second.;)
For those had download and try out the ROM please post your feedback to help cruzzmz improve future release :p

May i know what is the pagepool size for this ROM ? IT it possible to change the storage size from current 37.68MB to 49.95MB as show in picture below ?
http://www.o2zinc.cn/attachments/month_0804/20080423_bb9ce3c117c3fd44b065G0Sm3FbQHXUn.png
http://www.o2zinc.cn/attachments/month_0804/20080422_a09239a0e42d04df7454BZUWwyQ28XL7.png
page pool i think still remain as 4Mb i think ... to do as in the pics i have to delete more files in the OEM folder as in China the operator seldom support video call, also i think he deleted the T9 alsoa brand
Regards
Just extract the MARSII_G4.ABI from the picture i showed and found out that Ext_Rom.BIN is only 240KB compare to 10,240KB from yours rom. Do you have any idea how to do this ?
Is it possible to just replace the Ext_Rom.BIN (10,240KB) replace with the smaller size and create a brand new MARSII_G4.ABI ?

hi cruzzmz:)
i tried your kitchen.it was very good.in fact i made a rom by deleting many part of orig one due to obtain more free rom space and i deleted almost all fills in ext_rom.bin and the rom works normally but a little problem?????
why rom space still is about 37.XX when i deleted more than 18 mb of fills...
pleas guide me friend....:D
where is the missing point.

ext rom is a lill bit strange, u have to do a hex in order to delete all the files inside it & then u have to repack it back

which previous rom that u used?
When I was using 19202, I face lots of problem till the phone became unstable and I have reflash back to original WM6 ROM. But didn't face much problem with this.
Generally stable though I experience bits of problem here and there.
Sometimes when I answer call I can't hear the other party, like the phone just went dead. This happens twice only.
Once it rests all my buttons apps, not sure how it happen, could also be my installation of other apps that cause it.
Once the call and end call button doesn't work.
So far I have very please with this new ROM, thanks for the great work again. Will be trying your new ROM soon, hopefully will see more storage.
Thanks.

Do you installed any others 3rd Party Software ,utilities or today's plug-in  ? So far i haven't face any problem above with the ROM release this thread;). Read from forum, and found out usually this kind problem is caused by 3rd Today's plugin and phone related Utilities.
May be you should try the ROM stability by the clean ROM it Self only for few days.

Test that has been done by me for this release ROM:
1.Blue Tooth beam File and receive file. - Working
2.Use Zinc as a USB storage. After transfer file and later switch back to activesync mode. - Working
3.GPRS surfing. - Working
4.Dial Button 100% working with this these few days test. -Working
(Only these 2 day After installed a Clock plug-in, sometime it stop work. so i conclude Dial button some times not respond is cause by 3rd party today plug-in)
5.ActiveSync for normal File transfer - Woking
6.ActiveSync for Sync-up with OutLook - Not Test Yet
7.ActiveSync with Bluetooth - Working - Tested By Keltong. Thanks keltong
8.AvtiveSync with PushMail - Don't have chance to Test :(
9.Camera take picture - Working
10. 3G Video Call - Working - Tested By Keltong.Thanks keltong
Please post yours test result to help other users Zinc experience :D. Please help to test those items with "Don't have chance to Test :( " If you have this kind facility

Yeah...you are probably right, can't really live with basic program, so installed them as soon as I flashed the ROM. Generally I like it a lot, and the recent repack ROM with 43+MB storage will be even better! Got to find time to flash it.

Just download spb backup to backup your system. Flash with new rom and restore it. Basically the repacked version almost same as previous version except the storage size has been greatly increase. Good if you plan to install lot today plugins, Fonts (esp Yahei font take up lot space) and input methods.

Yup....that's what I need, lots more space. Heehee....
For SPH backup, do you experience any problem with it? I used it once to restore my contacts and it all became duplicate, and I have to reflash the ROM and sync over from my outlook again. Also, some of the contacts didn't restore properly, so rather do a clean install and resync outlook contacts and calender and also use jeyo sms backup to restore the sms. Program can also add slowly.

I will be doing more testing on SPB mobileshell and pocketplus. So far seems to work quite well except for one time the button can reassigned to basically no program, could be spb's fault or other 3rd party programs fault. Once I reflash I will get a better idea.

This is because SPB backup already backup 1 copy your contact info and if you sync with your outlook again another copy of your contact from your outlook will be copy to your phone (if you don't remove the relationship between your phone and outlook).
If you used to store your contacts in Outlook on PC, when you use SPB Backup you can leave the backup contact option untick. After you restore the backup and then sync up with Outlook again.
You can also make a full backup with SPB Backup. Remove the contact from Outlook on PC before you try to Sync up with your phone.
For your current case, you can remove duplicate contact by using SKTools. It will help your to list out all the contact number and let you remove it.
For me i used to use PIMBACKUP (freeware) to backup all contact, sms and call log. I use SPB backup for the main system backup only. After i restore from SPB backup i will restore my contact info by using PIMBACKUP. So far so good no problem happen.
Hope this will help you.
No worries about the XLt, worry about your baby more.

Power Saving Mode ? Do u mean press and hold power button until the hp is totally shutdown (I use to call this shutdown)? or just press power button and release to make the screen turn off (I use to call this stand by mode)?
So far i don't face any problem wake up from stand by mode. But if i turn on my hp from shut down it will take longer time which i think is pretty normal.

hey cruzzmz.. i was referring to the newest rom as Zinc WM6.1 19900 (Uploaded 23/06/08)+(Dedicated to your new born child - AALYA (1 month old on 20th June 2008))..... the power saving mode is located in the Settings, under the System tab.. the "Power Scheme".. sorry i didn't make this clear in the first post i posted..
I put my phone "Power Scheme" on "Power Saving Mode" always.. and when i turn off and turn on back my phone(as in turn my phone completely off, NOT turn off the screen only) it takes a long time to start up my phone.. it will be on the Windows Mobile 6.1 load screen for roughly 2 minutes plus...
but after reading kakarato's post....i think its normal for a longer time to start up the phone?

UC rom is by Kakarato ... using my based rom. So all UC credit must be to him ;)
What is UC? It is a feature contained in UC capable ROMs. A UC capable ROM extends initial customization to your SD card so you can load cabs and install XML files that are located there too. What this means is that once you get your customization scripts right, you can flash any UC capable ROM and all your apps and settings will be restored as part of the initial customization process whenever your SD card is inserted in the slot
I will try to unchecked all my read only files & see how it work ... Thanks

Dear Mate,
I have downloaded the ROM and trying to flash it but no success.
I have been following the steps described by you but no luck. Device just stays in bootloader and nothing happens. A soft reset brings back the device to its pre-state.
I have waited hours to see bootloader showing any progress but none happened.
Should I delete all other files from my SD card and only keep the rom image (MARSII file)?
Is my device locked and I need to unlock it? (I dont thisnk so coz I have used it in Saudi, India, and Dubai with different SIMs and all worked.
By the way I have tried all device unlock tools from this forum but seems that none works with O2 ZINC
Also I need some tool to unlock extended rom in my device.
I would really appreciate any help in these issues.
Many Thanks.
Sorry..forgot to mention 1 important thing..in my O2 Zinc, its 'down' d-pad button to be pressed with a soft-reset to reach the bootloader (not the 'right' d-pad)

I would really appreciate any help in these issues.
Many Thanks.
Sorry..forgot to mention 1 important thing..in my O2 Zinc, its 'down' d-pad button to be pressed with a soft-reset to reach the bootloader (not the 'right' d-pad)
Hi,
I used to have the same prob. The reason is because of using "down pad" instead of "right pad".
It seems that having down pad + SR only take you to the Bootloader (for some purposes that I dont know) but not to flash ROM from SD card. To flash a new ROM, please do exactly the same as cruzzmz's guide (press and hold right pad, and then have a SR).
And make sure you put the .abi ROM file in the root folder of your SD (meaning in no sub-folder). You can keep other files in your SD.
Hope this help, good luck :)
P/s: You might want to check the below page where there're conversations between me and cruzzmz about this issue before, and the solution (as mentioned above) according to my own experience, for your reference.

Hi Leo
Thanks for your reply bro,
I went through your discussion with cruzzmz bout the issue and found the same is happening with me too. I mean when I press 'right' key n do SR it just keep showing o2 screen n nothing happens. I have waited bout 30 minutes in that stage hoping the upgrade process to start but did not succeed.
Can you tell me how did you manage to overcome that problem.
I am keeping the .abi file in root of SD card which is 2GB and following the exact steps.
Plz help.

Actually, there's no trick here, just do as the guide.
The reason I had problem with "right pad + SR" before was I did not put the .abi file in SD card when I did the above combination (because that time I did not intend to flash the ROM yet, just try to see what happen since it's the first time I flash a ROM via SD card).
As soon as I put the .abi ROM file in SD card, I had no problem to flash the new ROM, as you can see through the conversation.
Ok, I'll put it that way so you can easily figure it out:
- Press and hold DOWN pad + SR will take you to Bootloader, but not for flashing new ROM via SD card, I'm afraid. Maybe the purpose is just to check the Bootloader info,
- Press and hold RIGHT pad + SR, without having the .abi ROM file in root folder of your SD card, will make Zinc hang at O2 screen,
- Press and hold RIGHT pad + SR with the .abi file in SD card, it'll flash the ROM in SD card to your Zinc
(Note: the above conclusion is based on my personal experience)
So in your case, if you already put the .abi file in the root folder of your SD and still have problem when flashing the ROM by pressing RIGHT pad + SR, I really have no clear idea about what happened :(
However, I guess one of the possible reasons might be there's something wrong with your SD card. So you might want to format your SD first (using FAT32, right? I'm not sure about this, anyone else can confirm about this?), then copy the .abi file and try again.
Or if possible, you can try on other cards.
Just my two cents
P/s: If it works, it only takes 3-5 minutes for the whole flashing ROM process. So you dont need to wait 30 mins next time :) Good luck.

You're new comer, right?
I think you should look for the answer by tracking the thread from the beginning, instead of simply asking a question ;)
BTW, for your reference, you might want to check these below topic:

This is the first WM6.1 cook ROM from cruzzmz for Zinc. There're several versions of this ROM (lite, Xltr, Big Storage, ...) and you can find the difference between them when reading this thread

It ain't going to be easy to change. You will have to strip down the ROM, put in your own graphics, than 'cook' it again. Cooking instructions can be found in this forum.

sorry missed this q since very busy now a days
actually u can use the kitchen or just the ganfan abi extractor to do the job
really straight fwd
To change the bootscreen,
1. drag ur .gif to ReplaceGIF.exe
2. A folder WorkSpace will be created
3. Inside it will be a new BOOTLOADER.BIN file
4. Replace the ori BOOTLOADER.BIN
5. Use ***.BAT inside the OUT Folder, to combine back all the ROM inside OUT Folder
***** .GIF file must be less than 159,488 bytes

I noticed that Lite ROM caused the network to hang when PointUI installed, there will be no service at all. The Lite ROM will not connect to activesync as well when PointUI is rebooted and loaded, previously with the orig Zinc ROM there is no problem

also, i encountered a dotnet initialization error with this one, when i run/installed e-sword(a Bible reader application) and an application i created on my own, using the latest version of c#. what is the dotnet version for this one, 3.5 or 2.5? first, i thought i had something to do with sd card encrytion enable(by default) but i already reflash to the previous rom(6/20/2008).

guys, please excuse me for being OT(off topic). it's better to post it here since we don't have a zinc specific group/forum. if i maybe allowed, may i ask the ff:
1. is it possible to unlock/view the hidden partition? previously, as i was using another device, the total commander can do the trick via _QHiddenPartition.
2. my device was just handed down to me by a very kind individual who move/switch to a new/better unit. i'm not sure if the front vga camera is working or not. sorry no way of testing it using 3g. i tried the self diagnostics and it didn't display any image. does this mean the the front camera is not working anymore? is there a software that i could use to verify this. i'm also looking for a software that will switch w/c camera can be used to take pictures.
3. is there really not built in equalizer? i've seen the srs wow but have not tried it. i think it would be better to have both equalizer and srs wow for better sound/audio quality.
4. is there an auto redial software for zinc? i've search in vain :( is this even possible?
5. is it possible to change the casing? i woudl like it to look brand new again. i've search for accessories such to replace the casing but no luck :( also some of the keys are intermittently hard to press, on of the soft key(right) is already out. would cleaning it from the inside fix the keyboard problem. can these keys be replaced?
my apologies for asking too many questions. i really enjoying my device with this rom. i would just like to get the most out of it. thanks.

1. No

3. No build in EQ, WOWSRS can be use but then for some reason the build in dll will make zinc sound slower ????

Has anyone tried the Manila 2d on Zinc?
I have tried the Manila 2d for non-HTC devices.
Some of them who have non-HTC, but on my Zinc, weather is not working.
That's the only problem I'm having.
Just wanna say I totally love the cooked rom, which I installed. To my dismay I looked back at the 1st post and autoconfig doesn't work? Now I can't get access to the net and all my isp's instruction was to tap on the O2 autoconfig.
Anyone has any suggestion how I can set up my isp's settings automatically for access to the net on the cooked rom?
Is there any way I can get the same rss reader and the bundled channels that came with the O2 WM6 rom on the cooked rom??
