ok guys here my first contribution to the forum, this is a custom slim down 6.1 chome panel credits go to NRGZ28 he made the discovery on how to change the Height and Width of the chome 6.1 panels i just change the values to comfort our 240x320 device's resolution and also i changed the Height and Width of the music and photos icons as they were to big and came out of the panels and they lookt pretty bad so i fix that ^^.
How to install
1.download "rafy_vitto's_custom_6.1_slim_panels.zip"
2.go to setting/home screen change your layout to "windows simple"
3.connect your phone to the pc sync it with active sync go to your windows folder look for the file "CHome_240x320.cpr" make a back up of it(drag and drop it anywhere on your pc).
4.unzip my file and extract the custom "CHome_240x320.cpr" and drag and drop it into your phones windows folder.
5.now go to setting/home screen and change your layout to sliding panel. and thats it your done.
hope you like it and please fell free to ask me any question il be more than happy to answer them ^^
update:ive added the landscape version for does of us that like my self use the tornado display manager.

it might be that your device has a OEm rom wich has security on the roms system files and its not letting you replace the file, try making an aplication unlock or you can just flash your phone with a non security enable rom

Raf, I can't seem to delete the CHome_240x320. file. The device won't let me copy, move, rename or delete? It keeps telling me that I don't have permission to delete the file? ? ? As far as I know, I am the System Admin. I am running Vista. . . What am I doing wrong?

It might be because you are using sliding panel homescreen right now. Switch to different homescreen, reboot the phone and try again.

I'm not sure, but I get another message that states you cannot delete a file that's in ROM?

I'm not sure, I'm changing screens prior to trying to access the .cpr file and I still get a message that states I cannot delete a file that is in ROM?

bobd104,
I suggest using Resco File Explorer on the smartphone itself. Just copy unzipped file to windows. Resco will say something with 'Are you sure?' in the end. Maybe it'll warn about files in ROM. Just press 'yes' and reboot. It works!
If you don't like the new chome, find its file in \windows and delete it with Resco. Original file will be restored from the ROM and after reboot you'll have it like it was before.

thanks mate!! slimer panels are much better. I am completely lost with the new home screens and cpr files, although I tried to make some changes.
1) I moved up the alarm icon to fit better in the highlighted area of the panel
2) The date was out of panel's borders, so I moved it up, also I prefer it in the center of the panel.
on the left you can see the original, and on the right my changes.

Does anyone know what's the correct icon number for a Battery?
I added a Battery page to the Settings panel (it was included in this chome, but not activated). But I can't find the right icon. Default is a red circle with a white cross, which is inadeqate here. I think I saw something like that in a different WM6.1 rom.
Anyone?

I noticed in some chome panels Battery page with a cute icon, but not in this one. Well, it turned out to be a separate .png file. Its path should be written in HKLM/Software/Microsoft/CHome/Settings/Battery/PICTURES.

Hi Vitto!
thx for the lovely panels I'd love to have, but...I followed your steps but my phone is still showing the old panels (ricky watt ones) I used Resco Explorer to overwrite the .cpr file, but it looks like that nothing did happen...
any suggestions?

don't use resco explorer just open your phone with active sync go to windows folder and drag and drop my .cpr into it and hit confirm to replace it, it should work that way, if not it could be that rick watt ones are very similar to mines hence you see almost no difference.

@vitto
1st thx for your advices :)
..mmhh strange, I copied the .cpr file as you suggested, but I still have my old backround image and the battery icon is the old one. however I noticed that the date has changed position. Do I need also to copy the backround picture and the? :confused:

franculito,
if the date position has changed, it means that you have successfully replaced that cpr file. As for the background, it can still be changed in Settings\Home Screen as usual. A .cpr file does not contain any background.
And what battery icon do you mean? The one in the icon bar? Well, as far as I can see, these custom panel do not contain new icons for the icon bar, do they, Rafy Vitto? :) I think, he installed it separately.
But there are other custom chome panels at http://www.freddyreyes.com/forums/index.php?board=26.0 and http://forum.wce.by/viewtopic.php?t=10817&postdays=0&postorder=asc&&start=15
They are installable cabs, and they DO have the new icon bar. But they are NOT SLIM. So you can install one of those cabs, then replace the cpr file with Raffy's. :)

why replace the cpr file? if you have a customized homescreen, e.g. changed with chome configurator, the homescreen might not work anymore after replacement.
so just open the existing CHome_240x320.cpr file in the windows directory and change
<Canvas>
<Image ID="Background" Opacity="1.0" Top="-27" Width="240" Height="315"/>
<Layer ID="StaticHomeArea" Visible="False"/>
<ListView ID="HomeNav" Width="240" Height="266" Columns="1" Rows="5" ItemWidth="240" ItemHeight="36">
<Layer ID="Focus" Width="240" Height="130">
<Image ID="Image Default" Width="240" Height="130" ScalingAlgorithm = "TriLinear" Opacity="1.0" />
<ControlSequence ID="Action Sequence" FramesPerSecond="30" Loop="False">
...
in line 5 and 6 the height from 130 to 110 and you have slimmer panels!
