any ideas how to get Opera 9.5 to act as if it was IE, or at least PIE???

there's a WiFi spot I always use, but whenever I use my Kaiser, I can only use PIE!!! nothing else works!!!
and as you know PIE sucks :(

there was a similar option in NetFront as I recall... but I couldn't find it in Opera??

I really appreciate all your help
thanks

how does 'nothing else work' exactly?

if you wnat opera to present itself as PIE, navigate to 'opera:config'-the setting's (and loadsa others) there somewhere.

Nothing else means: The only web browser that works on that hotspot is PIE, while Opera mini, Opera 9, opera 8.65...etc don't

and I have allready searched the config... but no good :(

I might be missing sothing though!

thanks

I asked how they dont work, not for a definition of the word nothing duke911.

The behaviour of the other browsers could point one of us in the right direction - insisting nothing works wont mate.

It's simply that 'nothing else works' tells people very little!

Ok mate :p

As for Opera 9.5: when I go to, let's say: google.com, I am redirected to the homepage of the ISP!! but when I use PIE, I can surf normally, except for the fact you can't really surf with PIE :D

Opera min cant' open any page at all...

other explorers either do as Opera 9 does, or as opera min!

BTW, I have searched the registry hoping to find something that can help, but came up with nothing :(

cheers mate

The ISPs page - it wouldn't happen to be a page put up by the operator of the hotspot would it?

Feel free to correct me, but it sounds like it may be a (normally) paid-for service, into which you have to login to be granted access through a proxy..? If it is, can you log in?

I know a loada things you could try from laptop (windows OSs), not that many from WM though.

you said you 'config... but no good' - did you try geting Opera to present itself as IE? if you did, did it make any difference at all?

Well, That's the strange thing!!!!
When I use PIE, I can use WiFi free of charge, but when I use Opera 9.5 I am redirected to the ISP page, and it does not have any place to login... just a normal home page...!!!

BTW, everyone at that cofee shop is using WiFi on their laptops/phone..etc free of charge

I meant I looked in the config for something that let Opera present itself as IE, But I could NOT find any thing....

are you aware of any option like that in the Opera Config??

thanks mate

Everything is ok now...
I tried reinstalling opera, and trying different build...but that did not work...
but after I refreshed the ISP homepage couple of times... opera now works...

still there is a strange thing... when I tried replying to this topic from opera (typing in the yellow box)... Opera shuts down!!!

anyway.... thanks a lot mad_tunes... you have been very helpful ;)

cheers

I've had opera mobile Build 1126 keel over and close on me a couple of times - tends to do it with the same sites, they must have included something it didn't get on with.

If you haven't already, give build 1184 a go - there are no huge noticable changes, but I've found it to be more stable.

I found it through this site, I think it was from here: HTC Diamond Opera 9.5 Build 1184 (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=401715)
