does your touch cruise have variable touch screen sensibility? from what i've noticed the pressure needed to "press" a button in the middle of the screen is higher than the rest. also if i draw a horizontal/vertical line that intersects the center of the screen, keeping the preassure constant and at the minimum level needed for a side/corner of the screen, i'll get 2 segments, interrupted by a blank space at the center of the screen.
