HTC Touch - registry entry to enable text message alert

Does anyone know a registry entry to enable alerts for incoming text messages?

This is changed in settings, sounds & notifications, notifications tab, In the "Event" pull down select "Messaging: New text message" then check the box for "play sound" and change the sound. This setting is muted if the ringer / sound is muted however.
