Tempus v13 FINAL - Animated Weather and diamond clock today plugin [Updated 12/07]

This is a animated clock and weather flash theme, it works only of you have flash installed and a flash today plugin, you can test it working here:
http://www.zshare.net/flash/14340560ee3a457c/

It only has 4 buttons:
- Change between clock and weather (the bottom left buttons)
- Configurations (individual, the top right buttons)
- Update weather (the bottom right button)

To use it:
- Install Flash 7: http://www.adobe.com/products/flashplayer_pocketpc/downloads/player.html
- Install ThrottleHTML Today plugin (thank you so much, APBilbo): http://www.throttlelauncher.com/portal/index.php/the-news/1-latest-news/77-twolfflash (this link seems to gone offline, I've added the cab in the attachments of this post).
- Configure in notepad and copy myConfig.txt to the \Windows\ThrottleHTML folder
- On the today settings select the ThrottleHTML Today plugin.

NOTE: The swf was embebed in the TSK, but since the release of the ThrottleHTML plugin its no longer needed, its already in the CAB. You'll just need the myConfig.txt.

If you want to know your city weather code:
- Go here: http://weather-cities.sytes.net and copy your city code.
...OR, just click in http://www.accuweather.com , then in the international tab search for 'city, country', and it shows the code in the address link...

New version 13(th):
- fixed a bug in all long dates by...
- decreasing the font date a little
- removing the bottom left buttons, now all that area is a big button
- added the Greek language
- fixed a bug with the 11th and 21th days
- fixed the AM-PM not showing up (behind the seconds)
- The name shoud be tempus_v13, but then the plugin wont recognize it, so leave it as it is, in order to work...

TO UPDATE JUST COPY BOTH FILES FROM V13 TO THE \WINDOWS\THROTTLEHTML FOLDER!
THEN RESET OR UNCHECK AND CHECK AGAIN THE PLUGIN ON THE TODAY OPTIONS.

TO MAKE A NEW INSTALL. DOWNLOAD THE CAB FROM APBilbo:

AND AFTER INSTALL, UPDATE BY COPYING BOTH FILES OF V13 TO THE \WINDOWS\THROTTLEHTML FOLDER!

New version 12:
- if you update the weather and there is no connection, he jumps to the "please update" screen
- Painted the grey lines black in the tsk again
- added the chinese language (finally, it wasnt easy)
- Reduced the height size back to 110 px again (v11 went back to 113 px, sorry)
- Made some quality tweaks for a smoother animation switch (between the clock and weather screens)
- Added the source-code in Flash and a separated FLA with the weather animations, just in case you'd like to use them in any other software. ;)

New version 11:
- fixed the mixed up Spanish/Hungarian language (the txt settings file changed too)
- Removed the chinese language option (sorry, if anyone gets me a font with chinese and western characters I'll put it back)
- Added the font choosen settings (added that option to txt settings file also)
- The change color menu now only exists in the weather config (lack of space)
- Changed the "Please update" weather screen to a more colorfull one
- The start menu text is now white (it was black)
- Fixed a small problem with the fishes not changing randomly (there are 6 diferent species, you know...)
- Simplified the fish animations so that the they'd swim smoother
- Added a small animation switch between time/weather.
- Changed the butons sensitive area

New version 10:
- Italian character on the date and display fixed
- English date fixed again
- French date fixed again
- Added black lines to the tsk
- Added a small easter egg (hehehe)
- Added the Dutch language

New version 9:
- Retouched the buttons shadows
- Fixed the clock icon in the white background
- Slimmed down the sixe to 240x110 (less 3px in height) by request
- Changed the startup animation
- Fixed the font (it had a little error since v7)
- IF you change the degrees, it now auto-updates (it didnt since v7, my bad).
- Added a alternative clock font (just as a test for now)
- Added the correct pronounciation of the english date(th)

New version 8:
- Added the reload button on the weather config.
- changed the local weather config, there's now the 'MY' (as myConfig.txt) option.
- changed the Portuguese dates a little
- if you go to the weather config and dont change the location, he now doesnt need to re-update the weather
- changed the background graphics a bit
- Bigger sensitive area on all buttons
- minor change in the settings symbol (the icon previously known as pacman)
- Created a link to the setting text file.

New version 7, just bug fixes:
- Smoother seconds animation (not much)
- Capital weather code fixed (it had a extra "|" in the end)
- Small shadow on the weather degrees
- Removed the letters C and F in the degrees (so it just show 20º)
- Moon and clouds images with more quality
- Fixed bug with the white background (it didnt updated the settings on both configs and removed the date text)
- Guerman date fixed
- French date fixed
- New loading
- Fixed strange characters on the country code issues (I think...)

Animated today allows the use of a flash file in the today screen, but it doesnt allow the swf to connect to the internet, dont know why. So the clock works, the weather doesnt.
Also, it isnt freeware. ;)

Well SPB MobileShell isn't Freeware, too....but there is a MEGA-Skinning-Thread in xda-devs.com :P

Just a workaround:
In ThrottleLauncher the Weather-Tab is updated through a MortScript! It reads the google-weather-xml-file and writes this into the registry...The weather-Tab now reads the Registry and shows the Weather!

Maybe you can do something like this! Update the Weather-Information in the Registry or a file on the device and read it with the flash-plugin!

I'm almost getting this to work, but my today plugin problably doesnt allow the swf to update online. :(

For now I only placed the capital cities from 4 countries, if you want your own city weather:
- Go to: http://netweather.accuweather.com/adcbin/netweather_v2/signup-page1.asp
- Press 'My NETweather'.
- In the 'Choose Location' tab write the name of your city and click 'search'.
- Locate your city and press 'NEXT'.
- In this new page press 'NEXT' again.
- Click the 'I agree to these terms and conditions' square.
- In the 'Web Page Code' text area search for you area code, if you live in the US its just a 5 digit number, outside the US its a long code like 'EUR|PT|PO012|LISBON|'
- Write this code in the 'CUSTOM' tab and click the round button in order to be selected.

The icons arent finished yet, remenber this is a work-in-progress.

You can use a weather plugin's data to update. Most weather plugins update and write the data to a text file... just get it there...
and yet you'll avoid another web connection to update your flash.

but you'll need 3rd app...

Have tried Animated Today but it sticks an icon in the tray.

I use UL full screen so the icon stuffs up my screen.

why did you need a today plugin who accepted flash, you can make a flash whith all that is in the today screen i have make a test with your timer ( geet work congratulation for that )
i have include in a flash that i make for test with the operator name and batterie indicator and level bar for the reseption. (it s juste a tes with your code and another code before make in flash for wm7 theme and a bottom bar with 4 shortcuts.
i poste a screenshot, if you are interrested i can participate with you to make an today replacement .

windowv, yes, you can resize it, just use the SWF provided in the first post and POCKET THEME MENAGER to create a new TSK with a new flash size.

sudf, I can make a EXE with flash, but I prefer a today plugin, so that I can use it always, and still have access to my other plugins.

pmorganii, yes, it still has a few update wuirks, but if you update it when connected thru active sync is shoud be ok, Im not sure about 3G/gprs, havent tested it yet. one of the problems is when you restart the plugin, it doesnt safe the previous settings or weather data.

Ok TWOLF, update can be made thru GPRS, since you start it thru another aplication.

If you clic the update on the weather screen, the connection doesn't start

So if you are already connected thru gprs or 3G it updates the weather, but if not it doesnt start a connection itself...hmmm
I cant consider that a bug, gprs isnt cheap in Portugal, lol...

If you place the code on the MyWeather area of myConfig.txt like this:
&MyWeather=EUR|PT|PO014|PORTALEGRE&END
...then it should work fine.

I have a wm6.1 with 73 free ram and 400mhz pocket pc, if I try to see both at the same time it becames veeery slow, the seconds skip like crazy and the weather animation stops and drags a lot, I reaaaally dont want to show anyone a messed up today plugin... :(

When most pocket pcs became faster I'll make a fullscreen today plugin.

It depends what you understand of "reload", the only way to do this is to load a diferente TSK, press ok then go back and reload the tempus tsk again.

Actually I can make a new button (in the next version) that reloads the txt codes... Never thought of that... :)

The second you activate any TSK file, your a2tk.htm and a2tk.swf files on the windows folder are replaced by the ones from that selected TSK.

So all you need to do is activate the lite version tsk, go to the windows folder and copy that swf file to wherever you want.

Sorry, so far im still stuck with the theme because of the lack of a proper flash today plugin.
Just use something like POCKET THEME EDITOR or Animated Theme Injector to use the swf in another theme.

hmmmm, that certainly is a bug, and it becomes harder to change since it would have to be dynamic because there is the 1st and 2nd and 3rd and so on... so, is there another way to see the date without that?

- Retouched the buttons shadows
- Fixed the clock icon in the white background
- Slimmed down the sixe to 240x110 (less 4px in height) by request
- Changed the startup animation
- Fixed the font (it had a little error since v7)
- IF you change the degrees, it now auto-updates (it didnt since v7, my bad).
- Added a alternative clock font (just as a test for now)
- Added the correct pronounciation of the english date(th)

If you want to, post here a preview of the font you'd like in the clock.

As for enhancements... if I go to Flash lite it can have program links, caller photos and etc... but if someone makes a plugin it can had much more AND still be compatible with wm2003, because flash lite saddly isnt (for no reason at all)...

Downloaded and installed animated today

selected a animated theme. but i don't get any clock/weather

The temp_v5.swf gives me an error when clicking on it. something about opening the file from the installed program. Can someone give me further instructions?

it becames too slow and the seconds tab skips 3 or more seconds at a time, and that is in a 400mhz 73mb of free ram machine.;)

The auto-update can be done, but that will eat your gprs/3g data silently... is it cheap for you?
Also, the flash cant force the gprs connection to be started, so if you are not connected and he tries to update all you get is the "please update" screen... :(

As for the separation, for now its not possible, since all the flash today plugins use the same html with the same swf, what you can do it try to install 2 diferent plugins and choose diferent screens on each. :)

Actually thats my assurance that the hours and minutes are never wrong, if the animation gets slow because of the system (remenber that there are 200 and 400 mhz machines out there) it just skips a second now and then.

Thats why I gave the option to remove the seconds tab, if the animation is too slow for your machine then the seconds skip like crazy, this way you can enjoy the effect without glitches.

I refer to the upper (start bar) and bottom (soft keys) bars.
In my pda when I select the tempus_v10.tsk the bars are grey, no black.

:(

ohhhhh, now I get it...
The software I use to make the TSK is for WM2003, so it must show things a little diferent in WM5, since I have Wisbar and my default skin is black, he hides the tsk bars, so I never noticed it was my fault... :D

As a Portuguese i must ask why you choose accuweather? it only as three portuguese cities and what about a press-5day forecast. What font do you use ? I like very much the fish you can make a (selectable) trigger that activates them in 30secs or 1minute. Thanks and good job. I think your the coolest project in the forum now.

Thank you, but if the fish become some sort of a screensaver it defeats the hole perpose of the clock, because it would be hidden most of the time (plus the fish use a lot of memory)... :/

I'm using a font called ALDO, its in the new settings options.

The 5 day forecast was my objective in the beginning, but Ill only start doing that when I have a decent plugin, this plugin looses the weather data very easily and that makes you need to update very often or with every reset... I need a better plugin to have better options... :(

Tryed to change the grey bars in the TSK to black, but its a little more dificult than I thought,xvx45 has helped me a lot, but the end result is not fully compatible with all systems (wm2003, wm5, wm6 and wm6.1), so... sorry but I'll continue to make the old tsk colors, you can then change them in your system with a theme editor or Theme ui.

As for enhancements... if I go to Flash lite it can have program links, caller photos and etc... but if someone makes a plugin it can had much more AND still be compatible with wm2003, because flash lite saddly isnt (for no reason at all)...

OH , V11 not full black screen , I like V10 so much , but if V11 is full black screen that's perfect....anyway you can found out "Mingliu ttf" chinese font on internet , this is hard for me to upload here cause this is really a big file.

I thought I had remove them, sorry....
They dont take extra space, I just painted them black in the previous version, and were suposed to remain black, Ill paint them again in the next version...
Its a TSK thing, not related to the flash.

Hi Twolf, I have the same problem. These lines do take up extra space as animated today reports the plugin as being 113 pixels high where V10 reported 110.

Had to tweak my UL icon spacing to get rid of the scrollbar.

Not complaining though, very happy

Dont wish to be picky, but I can only update weather when i go home (using activesync) and its depressing to see a "Please Update" screen instead of animated weather. Can you make it so that when not possible to update, it will show back the last updated weather? Hope you understand. Thanks bro :)

I do that too, it was working like that before, but it remorted some wierd values sometimes (zero degrees).

What I did was fixed the variables to stay in memory always, but if you press update (and only if you press it) or change the city, he jumps to the "please update" screen _IF_ there is no connection available.

So all you need to do when offline is not to press the update button. :D

I guess adding the Dutch language corrupted the order of the languages a bit:
1=English
2=Portuguese
3=German
4=Italian
5=Hungarian
6=Corrupt (Should be Spanish but just shows 4 7)
7=Spanish (Instead of French)
8=French (Should be Dutch, the one I'm after :()

Furthermore the Active Today plugin made your plugin work on my Samsung i780! But as I expected it doesn't fill the portrait-width of the screen (it's 320x320 instead of 240x320). Is this something I can adapt myself or could you maybe change this?

rename the .tsk to .cab, extract it with winrar...

youll need all those files (with the correct extensions) in the windows folder.

The moment I downloaded the latest release today it was v11, but you changed it to v12 while I was testing :).

I installed v12 and it works perfectly now (in Dutch), furthermore I got it to properly fill the width of the screen with ActiveToday.

You ned to edit the txt config file in windows, as explained in the first post.
Its best if you change it on your PC an then copy it to the pocket pc.

This is a animated clock and weather flash theme, it works only of you have flash installed and a today plugin like ANIMATED TODAY, you can test it working here:

- Configurations (individual, the top right buttons)
- Update weather (the bottom right button)

- The start menu text is now white (it was black)
- Fixed a small problem with the fishes not changing randomly (there are 6 diferent species, you know...)
- Simplified the fish animations so that the they'd swim smoother

- Changed the butons sensitive area

- Italian character on the date and display fixed

- Added black lines to the tsk
- Added a small easter egg (hehehe)

- Retouched the buttons shadows
- Fixed the clock icon in the white background
- Slimmed down the sixe to 240x110 (less 3px in height) by request

- Fixed the font (it had a little error since v7)
- IF you change the degrees, it now auto-updates (it didnt since v7, my bad).
- Added a alternative clock font (just as a test for now)
- Added the correct pronounciation of the english date(th)

- Added the reload button on the weather config.
- changed the local weather config, there's now the 'MY' (as myConfig.txt) option.
- changed the Portuguese dates a little
- if you go to the weather config and dont change the location, he now doesnt need to re-update the weather
- changed the background graphics a bit
- Bigger sensitive area on all buttons
- minor change in the settings symbol (the icon previously known as pacman)
- Created a link to the setting text file.

- Smoother seconds animation (not much)
- Capital weather code fixed (it had a extra "|" in the end)
- Small shadow on the weather degrees
- Removed the letters C and F in the degrees (so it just show 20º)
- Moon and clouds images with more quality
- Fixed bug with the white background (it didnt updated the settings on both configs and removed the date text)
- Guerman date fixed
- French date fixed

- Fixed strange characters on the country code issues (I think...)

Yes, when I started doing the weather part in flash I first thought of using the htc home xml weather that is updated automaticly, so that I could have a correct weather report and be able to use that always, either after a reset or a reload of the swf...

But I also wanted to make it as compatible as possible, and that it would work the same way in a wm2003 or wm5/6 (I had a magician with wm2003 untill last month so I know what its like being left out in the cold for no reason)...

So I decided to load the weather variables direcly into the swf memory, however by doing that, it only keeps your data untill you reload or reset.

But the source code is available now to everyone, so if you want you can read the variables direcly from the xml left out by your htc home plugin.

Download UI tweaker, you can make the bars totally black with it. google it, it's a free program.

Installing his dialer will change your today theme. Just choose your prefered colour. :)

I believe THEME INJECTOR does that, you take any TSK and embbeb the swf into it. I never tried it to be honest, but I hope it works, for all the VGA and diferent sizes out there... (maaaan, we really need a good plugin)...

In the 3rd step, you say the tsk file goes to the "my pictures" folder (i think?), shouldnt that be "my documents"?

Now that this program running so beautifully is there anyway to throw some colour into it? I don't want to force anything just hope we could get some colour in the clock. Great clock program so far. I just use Ultimate Launcher to turn it off when im not using the clock so no battery drain. But colour please! If I can get my paypal account running full speed I smell a donation:D

I'm hooked up via activesync to my pc, but it just says "Please update" every time I hit the refresh button.

Its vectorial, so you can make it bigger. To a VGA screen I'd advise a 480x220 swf size.
Im not sure the animated today plugin allows heights bigger than 200px, others plugins like pocket theme manager might... Also the animations can be slower in that size, im just not sure.

It had severall colours in the first versions, but I removed it because ppl didnt use them, sorry.

I stopped developing more stuff to it simply because the most important, a today plugin, isnt being done by anyone, so... a freeware flash interface with a bad AND payed today plugin isnt nice.

The moment I downloaded the latest release today it was v11, but you changed it to v12 while I was testing :).

I installed v12 and it works perfectly now (in Dutch), furthermore I got it to properly fill the width of the screen with ActiveToday.

Thanks to the above information, I managed to find the code for my country. For Singapore, the code should be SINGAPORE. I'm not sure if caps is important or not, but it works fine for me.

I installed Animated Today 4 and loaded the .tsk. This created the two files (at2k.htm and at2k.swf in the \windows folder) The at2k.htm can be loaded in Active Today, but the width of the plugin was still 240 pixels, so I edited the .htm on the pc to a width of 321 pixels and a height of 140 pixels. Then I put the files back in the windows map and set the plugin height (of Active Today) to 141.

I uploaded the at2k.htm, at2k.swf, myconfig.txt (with Dutch language and weather-settings) and an Active Today 1.2 cab (found in this thread) in one .rar here (http://rapidshare.com/files/127273941/Tempus_v12_i780__Knuruft_.rar.html) (this link was in my previous post as well..)

This is how I made the plugin compatible with the i780, but all credits go to tWolf for creating this beautifull plugin!

Edit: in the myconfig.txt file in the file I uploaded my weatherline looks like this:
&MyWeather=|EUR|NL|NL007|BREDA&END
But to make the weather work properly you should type it like this:
&MyWeather=EUR|NL|NL007|BREDA&END (without the "|" in front of the EUR)

For the people who are suffering of the 'Please update weather'-screen: you should make sure you have an internet connection (GPRS/3G/Activesync) running before you update the weather (by opening PIE for example), it doesn't start this connection by it self.
