It may make it clearer on how you can get from either your Rom update program with exe extension all the way to the dump file. All the tools needed are also provided in the above two threads.

I'm happy to take part also, being I'm a 7510 owner already posting. This is something that I probably cannot attempt without a PC handy for the next week or so. Of note, none of the support disks that came with the phone had the stock ROM in .exe format on them. Was that the same for all?

Anywhere should work, really. Standard ones include RapidShare (http://www.rapidshare.com/) and MegaUpload (http://www.megaupload.com/). I'm pretty sure there are plenty of others.

Try a PM to CMONEX, she is really good in SPL knowledge, OLIPRO is really skilled too (they work together too using with OLINEX as username) but is harder to get in contact with

I've been poking around with something, and depending on how well this integrates, I should be able to upload something this weekend.

I'm running a bit late, but I should be able to upload something tonight. It's more or less a vanilla* ROM, minus several items that I have absolutely no interest in building and testing (e.g. I don't use MMS, I've never used MMS, and I'll probably never use MMS, so there will be no MMS in the ROM). Now, that's not something terribly unusual, but what would be coming out a week later would be: if everything goes well, I'll be releasing the kitchen for it, so that all of you who want x, y, or z added or subtracted from a ROM would just be able to do it yourselves instead. :D

I'll have a fairly extensive post explaining where things came from when I post later tonight. Part of this is due to my professional background (where it's my job to keep track of niggly details like this), but it should also be helpful to some of you in case you'd like to track down some of the originating files.

If everything goes smoothly, irus, taxist, if either of you would be willing to publish some of the registry tweaks you've done, everybody would be able to benefit, if you wouldn't mind. I'll be publishing some of my own, although they're fairly widely known at this point.

* imho, a vanilla ROM is one that it most similar to a shipping ROM. What some are referring to as a vanilla ROM (one with minimal "cruft" in it), I would term a clean or minimalist ROM.

Official ROM from 7510 is very well flashed on 7500 with SPL3.5, but buttons, the Dpad and MicroDrive certainly do not work.
For working buttons, Dpad and MicroDrive function, it is necessary to edit nk.exe and to replace the driver of the keyboard and driver of the MicroDrive.

2) NO OFFICIAL ROMs from HTC for X7510, so you need a COOKED Rom. "official dump" doesn't means Official ROM, after the dump the rom has to be cooked (and you need the 1.2 SPL to flash it)
3) To have an ATHENA X7510 section just ask for it in the General forum, I will suggest to open a thread there. If there are enought users asking for it the section will be opened

My X7500 felt down and broke. The screen was broken, so I gave it to CRC Poland for service. They did not do it within one they as promised so I had to pick it up as I needed it for next day. Then I've found that my GPS is not working, although before giving it to CRC it was OK. Now I need to buy a new one and have decided to go for X7510.

But...
I wonder what is in standard ROM? Is there any GSen staff (flipping the screen and some other things)? What about GPS Photo?
If not, can anybody give some advice how to prepare cabs from OEMs from Sogarth's ROM.

Or if Sogarth and/or Irus can provide some knowledge about how to prepare a ROM containing all this staff. Of course we need to dump the original rom. I hope I will be able to do it using the tools described here, but then I will need some guidance to prepare the new rom. I did it for X7500 using Sogarth's wonderful kitchen and it works well on my broken old Athena, but am afraid cooking a new rom for X7510 is another challenge. Also what about SPL?

Those questions were put here already, and I hope gurus can help us move things forward.

I got my new toy, X7510. It is nice, but with some disappointments.

1. No GPPS Photo option. After enabling it using Advanced Config, and trying to use it in camera, it shows GPS initiation error exactly as in Irus FULL an some others ROMs.
2. Can't use TCPMP. It crashes. I've tried 0.72 and 0.81 version. It says that the log is crush.txt file and asks to send it to TCPMP developers. Some advice were exactly to send it?

But flash disk is great. Now I can use it without thinking how fast it will eat the battery.
Later I'll try to give some more reports.

I have an Axim51v WM5 and a 7501 WM6 Pro and run all the same
apps on both machines,not all but many of the people who have
apps not working are using cooked roms.
I don't have a 7510 so possibly the rom is causing grief.

For me it had the screen messed up, like it was fo 96dpi, not for 192dpi, as we have here.

I think only OLINEX :) , or CMONEX could answer to this question.... but having any original X7510 rom from HTC it is hard to make experiments...

Have you tried SmartMovie? I mainly used SmartMovie to play all avi files, very smoothly without any lag. Can you install SmartMovie on X7510?

I installed SmartMovie before on FS N560 (that complicated version with code generator on PC). When I tried on X7510, on that window with 2 lines for codes, the first line was unselectable. So I tries the deme version but again, only certain clips can be opened.
Below all, I'm very disapointed. With FS N560 I had a pleasant experience.

Don´t worry, we find a solution, sometimes i´m shure. yesterday I buyed a logitech dinovo mini Bluetooth Keyboard, maybe a really good alternative to the crazy click on magnetic zapp on keyboard :-)

I dont use the ameo really, i dont found applications that apply the feeling that i can work fine with ameo.. hmm.. better usability is maybe the htc shift, but the mechanical realization of the shift lets mechanical deployers like me wondering too ;-)

But, sometimes all will become to better.. :-)

There is one post here from person, who maneged to upload AP4 ROM on his X7510 Athe400 device. He or she says that everything works except the 16GB SSD. I think the keyboard should also be not working, but am not sure.

As we know, AP4 has its specialy tailored SPL 3.5, which was made by OliNex Team to be able to contain bigger ROM from Athe400 on Athe100, but it seems that it also could be used to unlock Athe400 devices.

This means, that if OliNex Team could make a procedure to upload SPL3.5 without uploading AP4 then we have a tool to unlock our Athe400 X7510 devices. This could open a world of cooked roms for X7510 Athena.

Next would be to exclude drivers for 16GB SSD and Athe400 keyboard, and we can start working on new ROM using latest OEM and SYS packages to build the fast rom for X7510.

Not sure that it is the case. Just like the first 7500 unlocker would brick 7501 device, I think the latest spl3.5 based unlocker would also brick 7510. I would not try if I were you.

This is what I thought as well, but this person installed succesfully AP4 on x7510 and claims that the only problem is that there is no SSD 16GB on the system, obviously because AP4 has drivers for microdrive instead of SSD. The person asks for help on this issue in the post on this forum.

I see what you mean, Tadeusz. So, it it is true, the only thing is to start cooking ROM. I guess if you use your stock ROM as a start, it would already have all the necessary drivers, for the keyboard as well as SSD. I hope that works out, as I think the 7510 community are all eager to find improvements, to throw away unwanted components, and to add commonly used program such as wktask, etc. So, perhaps 7510 and 750X do have more in common than I thought initially, as least when it comes to unlocking the device. I wonder if the method of downgrading from spl3.5 to 1.2 would also work for 7510???

Perhaps Pawell has left the original keyboard driver in there. Wonder if he could have done the same with the SSD driver so that it is capable of also reading it. If he had done that, perhaps it is possible to use the same ROM for both 7510 and 750X. Anyway, only Powell could answer the question. Hope when he comes back, we could eventually have a superROM that works on all the Athena... and perhaps we could even swap the microdrive for an SSD...?

Yes, That would be great. However, I am afraid, it is not so easy. AP4 has SPL 3.5 upgrade procedure inbuild in its RUU. All other roms have only XIP set for 3.5 or 1.2. It means that if you are on SPL1.2 you can not install any of Irus products for SPL3.5, because it is not going to upgrade your SPL and you would end up with bricked Athena.
I have no idea, how to set up a new rom to work as AP4 regarding the SPL, so we need OliNex help anyway.
Of cource then we could use rom dumped from X7510 as a source of drivers, as this is already a WM6.1 version, but again, I am not sure if I am able to find out which files are for those drivers. This is only a matter of time thou.

If you are in English rom, it will be very easy to convert it into Traditional Chinese mode just as what I am doing right now. I just use English rom and then install a Tradtional Chinese language package. For detailed discription in Chinese, please visit the following website:

Saied, you can do that yourself, but personally I wouldn't try it just yet.

There are people working on an unlocker for the x7510 and I'd wait for that to be released as stable before planning on any flashing!

uiii, I sell my X7510 after some days. It is not really usable. Now I buy a HTC Shift but, this ist not really better.. :-(

Better to use a cheap NetPC, with that you have more fun ;-)

one guy over at aspireoneuser.com even cut an apple logo into polycarbonate
then cut the same hole in his shell
then put led's inside and had a lt apple logo on the lid

its loads of fun modding your netbook. hard and soft modding.
and cheap too, £250 for the aao 150

last year I used my athena for writing in classes (at 6th form)
now I only use my aao because vista is so much better than wm obviously...
think can wm run cad and matlab??? :D

Did I miss it in the official specs in your forum or does the Aspire One lack for GSM support?

I've compared quite a few devices, but none of them except the Athena would offer mobile phone support, a big display for navigation and Windows Mobile with power for at least a working day...everything packed to be placed inside your jacket?

They just fit the hole between UMPCs and mobile phones, nothing more, nothing less... exactly what I need from my device! :-)

I am moving to Asia, and will need to view and input Traditional Chinese in the future. Currently my x7510 has English firmware installed that does not allow me to view/input the characters.

So would like to see if anyone here is able to help me out that may have the original CHT ROM...

no did not...i only flash it with ap 4.0 exactly like the ap 4.0 guide says and it works without errors...i dont know why:cool:

The Pawel idea about AP4 seems to be correct: The SPL tool in the AP4 could unlock the X7510 (CMONEX, were are you? your opinion is needed )

Then flashing AP4 in advance any 3.5 spl ROM should be flashed without problems.
Michy, is time to release the first x7510 ROM, extracting, may be Pawel could help, the internal storage drivers from the dumped ROM ? :)

I posted my opinion in the other thread just now but I'll copypaste this here:

"I have to disagree with PK and I already told him on msn why - AP4 was not designed with x7510 in mind. my plan for a proper hardspl is that it will specifically check ATHE400 modelid, and will not flash the rom if it is not for ATHE400. also AP4 is a complex big package, not just an SPL update. be just a bit more patient."

I would like a couple of testers for hardspl - it will include two pieces of code that was never used in other hardspls for devices, so i'd like to double test this to eliminate any bugs.

please send me a PM if you want to help - but only if you are sure you will have time in the next few days/weeks, and if you have MSN or an IRC client, the latter is highly preferred (but MSN is ok too). another requirement would be that you have used HTC devices before and have flashed them before so not a total "noob".
