Hi Friends....
I have a small question....
I lost my HTC-S710. The phone was having device lock enabled.
Is it possible that the person who got it can use the mobile by reflashing it?
(Is Reflashing is possible even if they dont know the device unlock code?.... as when I connect the device to PC the ActiveSync was asking pasword for me... So can the person flash ???)

i think it's possible ;) but not 100% sure. Because with my wizard a friend entered 3 times the wrong code and blocked. After hard reset i can get in my wizard again.

Yes the device lock will be wiped during the reflash so it won't help unfortunately :(
Call your operator and the imei will be blocked on all networks if it's stolen. At least that's how it works here in sweden.

The person can simply turn it off, perform a hard reset and they are back up and running. Any data you had stored on your SD card will be available to them!

Hi asmarttechie,
I know it is easy.... but after I disabled my SIM from operator when I went to Police station they refused to log complaint and advised to register the lost/stolen mobile with e-seva. I roomed 3 e-save and got one where these kind of complaint is taken. and I could register it 2 days later of my mobile lost.... :)
I agree with you to track/block mobile using IMEI number and I have the BOX with me..... But I am too not sure if Cops will show any interest to do that :(. Also Mobile operators will not do that with out police interfering....
Also in Jagdish Market they can rewrite the IMEI number it seems :( So loosing hope because of Cops and Operator :(

Hi Prabha... the police r hopeless i suppose in this matter, anyways i came across a very interesting news that has been making rounds quite for some time now::
Simple to find Lost Mobile
An IMEI number-The International Mobile Equipment Identity (IMEI) number is an international identity number used to uniquely identify a mobile phone. The 15-digit IMEI number is an electronic fingerprint transmitted every time a phone is used, which reveals the identity of the mobile handset.
How can I find out my IMEI number? IMEI numbers are independent of the phone number and are usually written underneath the battery or on the back of the handset. Mobile phone users can also check their 15 digit IMEI number by dialling *#06# on their mobile handset. Mobile phone owners should make a note of their IMEI number and keep the details in a safe place.
If u lost your mobile, send an e-mail to cop@vsnl.net with the following info.
Your name:
Address:
Phone model:
Make:
Last used No.:
E-mail for communication:
Missed date:
IMEI No.:
"No need to go to police station"

Hi
I would like to add some pc of info
I am using the software called remote protect.
As soon as a new sim is inserted it gives you an sms on a alternative no registered by you at the time of install stating the phone stolen
This blocks the phone to start completely
You can give command/s from remote number like batt ,status wipe phone mem or card mem your device will respond without the thief knowing tht sms are being sent..
If can also let you know the International Mobile Subscriber Identifier (IMSI) and IMEI.
Also there are other softwares like mobile Swipe from Sprite.

This software works on non-PPC devices?

yep I run sprite terminator on my smartphone standard, if the retard swipes my gps as well I can track the fecker, though looking forward to getting a smatphone standard with a decent built in gps...
you can also wipe, lock, and it reports sim changes to several chosen numbers, you send commands over SMS which dont show up in the message box and don't make a noise so the thief is non the wiser
cook your own rom and include terminator in it and even if they hard reset you still have control and can track it, wipe it, lock it, hopefully soon you will be able to taunt them with pop up messages on the screen... It would be worth having a phone stolen.. every time they chance the sim, it tells you and then you can taunt them further...
the only way they could stop it is to re flash.. and how many of your average thieves are bright enough to do that...?
