WM 6 destroys my pocketpc.../ how and where can i get the good old wm5 /please help!

dear all,

i'm a user of the xda trion. i bought an o2 (german provider) brandet handy on ebay with windows mobile 5. i loved my trion.
weeks ago i upgrade it to windows mobile 6.
that was definitly a fault: the pocket pc is very very slow, the keyboard doesn't functure and also the touchscreen identification for the pen is very imprecise...

how can i find the latest windows mobile 5 version for my pocket pc?

i searched this board, but didnt find answers...
i dont have a clue for "flashing roms" "downgrading roms an create files"...

please help me, im becoming desperate :(

There should be a couple WM6.1 ROMs out that will run fast enough for you. If you were able to get from WM5 --> WM6 its the same process to go to any other ROM. I would say before you give up and head back to WM5 maybe try the Binkys11 or MRH ROMs for WM6.1. I had the same complaint about the ROMs being too slow until I tried those 2, Binkys is a touch lighter and smaller (iirc) and MRH has a few more apps and tools. Im currently on MRH 5.7 while I wait for the new Schaps ROM.

check this for a list of WM 6 and 6.1 ROMs available by developers:

but these are all (as far as I'm aware of) English ROMs.
for a german version, you can try Schaps WM6 ROM version 3.57a that you can find here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=318849
be aware that if you upgraded your device to the official WM6 without reading the wiki about the hermes, then you at least have to hard SPL your device before you trying any other ROM.
if you need more help, just ask...
NOTE1: If you had a look on some of the threads published here, you would find many ROMs announced... the links I posted here are only few threads under yours.
NOTE2: DO NOT download any ROM or any software before you read its features till the end, since the developers may include some notes about flashing or installing their ROM/software.

i read a lot in the xda-wiki and the threads where is flashing roms is descriped.
now i'm very frightened of bricking my ppc (i also read about hard spl)

is there someone who can talk german with me?
that would made my first flashing more easier and more safe.

I understand your concerns about bricking your phone which is where the Mr Vanx guides come into their own(www.mrvanx.org).

If you are wanting instructions in German to ensure you don't make a mistake why don't you copy the guides into your language using an on-line a language converter?

If you are careful and follow the guides step by step it is hard to go wrong.

1.) i tried to see wether or not i have the right spl version:

"Take the device (powered on), and press and hold the side ok button and the power button, then insert the stylus into the hole in the base of the device. The screen will show the tri-colour bootloader screen and your IPL and SPL versions will be shown."

...even that doesn't functure...i press the ok-button, hold it, then i also press the on-off-button, and then i just put my stylus in the hole...but the device just boots and i see my normal windows envirement...and not the tricolour screen with the spl data....???

2.) then i just thought:okay, just install hard spl on your device...
and checked: ftp://ftp.xda-developers.com/Hermes/Hard_SPL/ no version works...i always get the error message that this programm cant run...

only when i use romupgradeUT.exe...the programm runs but to me it doesnt look like to be the programm which installs "hard spl" to my device....it says "sspl rom flasher"...an it doesnt fit to the guide from www.mrvanx.org...
or can i use it as a programm to not brick my device?

i really followed the step by step guide...

I too am very new to having a Hermes (one week), but I was able to SIMS/CID unlock my phone will no problems. I used the Hermes unlock (see attach thread)

Anyway, it was easier than unlocking my Wizard. But more can happen with my Hermes.

You might want to go up a step in this forum to the Upgrading section and not the WM6 the first two posted pins for unlocking is what you really need to read.

i need the version 2.10.olipro...to not brick my device and up ord downgrade my device with roms safely...

I've never been happier than 6.1 on my jasjam, if you want out of the box try CRC 9.2 or a bit of tweaking try CRC 11 on my signature. Both are on that page.

...i download a hard spl programm, get my trion via usb in connection with active sync and then open the .exe-file...then windows says in german "the programm can't run"...

that is my problem: to get hard spl on my device in order to not brick it when i install a new rom on it....

and now briefly:
did you superCID you device before flashing the HardSPL 2.10?
delete all files you downloaded already and begin like this:


go to this thread (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=293665) to download the Free HTC Hermes SIM & CID Unlocker (ftp://xda:xda@ftp.xda-developers.com/Hermes/Tools_and_Programs/HTC_Hermes_SIM_CID_Unlock_v3a.zip)(make sure to read the features and the warnings)
download and flash the HardSPL 2.10 (http://forum.xda-developers.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=37669&d=1177280888) from here (http://forum.xda-developers.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=37669&d=1177280888)

in case the flashing process does not succeed again, do the following:


disconnect your device from your computer



go to the BootLoader screen



connect your device again and do the flashing process again.

thank you again for your help, i really appreciate that!

now i have installed this kindo og "cid-programme" an my bootscreen shows,
that i now have spl 1.40 olipro.

but when i try to install hard splv7, i still get an error message.
i also disconnected my device from my pc, set it into bootload and then connected it again via usb, but then i also get the error message.

in english it means sth like "the application could not be initialized"

I'm sorry but I couldn't read the code associated with this "Fehlermeldung".
but I think that you did not install Microsoft .Net Framework v1.1 and v2.2 on your computer
download them from here:

when you flash a cooked ROM on your PDA device, you should first extract the Zip/RAR file to a single folder where you have no other files.

all of the hard spl-ing and flashing a new rom worked out so far...
i installed shaps german version of wm6...

i hope i didnt brick my device because:

when i switch my device on, windows mobile says that i now can justify the crossline in order to work with my stylus.
the problem is that after tipping the 5 points (center..left..right etc.)
i have to do it again and again...the screen doesnt switch to the next configuration...

i tried it 50-60 times, but i always have to start justifying the position for my stylus...and again and again.

did i brick my device?

i have the problem with the configuration for the pen
since i upgrated to the normal offical wm6 of my provider...

what can i do now?



and yes i read the wiki, but couldn't find a thread where the technique behing hardspl-ing or flashing is described....i am very thankful for the comments of this thread....

Your device is not bricked, you would not have been able to boot into the windows mobile software to calibrate the touchscreen. After you select the 4 points, does it go back to the fist point again? is there any error message? I believe it is possible to skip the calibration (not sure of the button sequence) and get into the os, then try to recalibrate from within. I have not seen this problem before, but wanted you to know that it is not bricked :)

are you sure you are tipping in the center of the little "+"s?
this activity is not intended for any configuration, but to make sure that your LCD is responsive to tipping and it has an embedded message to tell you: "please, tip in the right place while using your LCD as an input for your device!"
anyway, I used this ROM (from Schaps) before and it has no problem at all.

i actually read the wiki...
really...its not that i'm lazy...

yes, i tip right in the center of the "+", then the "+" goes in one corner and i tip again..next corner...after center and the 4 corners the "+" is in the center again
and i have to calibrate it again...theres no error messagt, it just doesn't skip to the next configuration-display...

leave the device in bootloader mode and try flashing another rom. if this does not work, you will need to pack the ruu updater with the nbh file of your original shipped rom. if that does not work then read LOTS more.

These are if you have Hard spl on your device

my pc and active sync cant connect to my device, which makes it very difficult...i could erase the stucked rom with mtty in a moment of luck, where the device could connect to the programm and i could chose the "usb port"...

but now i just see the white htc screen, hard resetting doesn't work,...

i try to fix it....someway...

if not, find my trion on ebay germany :o

so i just have no acces to windows, because i have to calibrate my screen again and again without ending....

is there a key combination to skip the calibration in order to enter windows mobile???

when im in the boot-modus (tri-color-screen) and try to hard reset,
the white screen just pops up for less than a half second and my device couldn't do a hard reset....
