I am looking for a 480X640 VGA Themes for SPB Mobile shell 2.1 and it is almost impossible to find. :confused::o

So if you have any info that can help me and all of us, VGA screen users, please post in here. :)

But there are no native VGA skins... In each case it's resized QVGA skin, so the quality is very poor ;(

I'll try and dig up my hacked version of the iPhone VGA theme that was from the clownfish one on ppc-theme but without the fish background and put it up later on tonight.

Ok here's the files I used to get it working. I did some editing of the original clownfish files to remove their original background but still able to keep the icons and menu bar. Works like a charm for me. qa_layout and the games.reg enable the 9 button support.

Is this a native VGA or a resized QVGA ?

I believe it's native vga. Like I said I just simply extracted the clownfish cabs and used the .dat files I needed and modified them accordingly to remove the fish background so I could just use the default colour theme backgrounds that come with it.

Basically it's the bottom menu bar, and the icon pack for the program menu. The rest is all default SPB stuff, but it works nice for me.

You can see some pics of basically what it looks like at the link below. Honestly I'm too lazy to screenshots and upload them, sorry, heh.

I have downloaded some and they looks excellent on my MDA Pro (which is 640x480).

BTW: At page 12 you find the Diamond theme in VGA.

this is an issue qvga reduced to vga.
So the graphics are poor because all the images were magnified losing definition.

It's not really a VGA theme but a blown up QVGA. But I made a VGA version of the diamond touch clock which is used in the "layout_C_3_contacts_vga" theme.

Just remove last bit of filename (starting from _) and copy to the "Program Files\Spb Mobile Shell" folder.

Why don't you use the blue earth one. To me it had only three disadvantages:
- only 9 menu's / applications in stead of 6+12 (see fix above)
- no data icon (don't care, got unlimited data anyway)
- wish it had the samurai weather icons (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=402124) (^_^)

You don't need the password. Just rename the file to remove the last bit of the file name (the bit after .dat) and copy to your device.

So, for the complete adaption i made to the beautiful "Blue Earth" theme (http://mobileshell.ppc-theme.com/page%205.html)

- slightly different .tsk theme file with better contrast start menu (after copying to \windows go to settings -> today and select)
- made the start and bottom bars pitch black to better fit the theme (and my taste) (.reg file)
- put back the 12 directly launchable programs in stead of 3 extra menu's (on top or bottom, you can choose)
- nicer samurai or diamond weather icons (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=402124) (only to replace the bigger icons)
- changed the windows bootup screen

I made it for fun so i don't want any donations. If you like it, please just let me know in this thread.

Has anyone retested with SPB 2.1.1. It seems to cause some glitches on my Blue Earth theme. For example, it seems that I now need to click just above the Mail, Text, Phone icons in some cases, or I bring up the time instead.

Very nice idea to make a theme with weather dependent background.

Start here (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=378367) to learn how to edit themes.

Then take a native vga theme based upon the diamond themes, like this one (http://www.actualitemobile.com/forum/index.php/topic,1654.165.html) for example.

Then merge the two by combining the code. Easy huh? ;-)

Greek and Hungarian localization PATCH are now available on the web-site.

Starting from today is possible to purchase extra components (Buttons, Clocks, Weather) to customize the skins. [For the moment I've added only one Analog Clock to test the process]

My new policy is:

- Platform will be FREEWARE also in the future for the new releases.
- Standard basic components will be included into the freeware package

it's a memory issue which happens sometimes with the VGA version. The weather icons require lot of memory;
For VGA version download the patch with reduced dimension images from my site:
VGA Weather Patch for all versions until 2.7
(Unzip into the "Storage Card" or "My Storage" root where you have placed the SpbMobileShellSkins folder, replacing existing files)

I use 2.7 but the same issue is there. But, if I reselct the city and soft reset, it starts to show big images.

I create this simple VGA Skin, from the original, for the "Mobile Shell 2" only to have a full backgroung image (480x640) in all screen and subscreen view.

I move the components (time, weather, profile ...) in the Now screen to obtain more space for the appointment (this make visible three appointment simultaneously).

To install the skin, replace (backup the original file) the four file .dat in "Program Files/Spb Mobile Shell" folder then SoftReset your device.

To edit the background image:
- Extract files from vp_bkg_now.dat (rename to .zip - password: b0fm18zq)
- Put whatever image you like into separator2.bmp and Tabs.bmp (but keep format 480x640 and 480x94 pixel).
You must have to save the file as a Windows - 16bit - R5 G6 B5 - .bmp file
- Recompress in Zip with password: b0fm18zq and rename in .dat
- Raplace the original file in "Program Files/Spb Mobile Shell"
- SoftReset
