Am I the only one who finds it very distracting that the diamond tilts when lying on a flat surface when you're operating it?
I wonder which devil designed that back cover...

Are there flat replacements available?

the xda version got a nice flat backcover with a slip-proof surface. i like this one more than the original bling bling high gloss cover...

Hmm... is there any well know company producing such stuff, so we know where to look?

My wish: a back cover like the O2 one (not glossy), but with an extra camera protection, e.g.: simply a retractable black piece of plastic would be enough.

Check that out - they've listed it as a Diamond battery cover but the location of where the camera lens cover is, looks to be more like a battery cover release button. Hopefully there are flat covers coming out from HTC.

Thanks! I think it's the correct one.

N.B. The product image is for illustration only, not the actual bettery cover.

Can any one who owns an XDA Diamond (the one from o2) tell me, if the see through lens cover on the flat back still lessens the quality of the camera pics, or if this has changed in comparisson to the prism version?

I lost the back cover to my O2 XDAII a few years ago. I went to an O2 shop to see if I could buy one and they gave me one for free! As the display dummies have their back covers removed and an anti theft sticky pad on string attached. Maybe worth going to your local O2 store and seeing if they will give you the flat cover.

Hmm, I don't really know where to put this post and I didn't feel like my question justified a new thread. Is it possible to pop the piece of plastic, on the back of the diamond, "protecting" the camera lens, out? That should raise the quality of the camera snapshots by a nice margin.

sure it is possible and sure it will improved camera quality, but you will have some more dust getting into your device whitch would be the reason for me not to do so and but often clean the cam-protection.

To the dust issue: I'm planning on putting a thin and perfectly fitting round seal, normally used for screws, between the cover and the device :)

well- but then you run the danger of hurting the qualtiy cover inside the phone (the glass cover on top of the camera).

nevertheless: best would be to have a shutter - hopfully any company release a solution - soon!!!

Yes I too hate the shinny, wonky, non symetrical, dirt attracting back cover.

Has anyone seen the MDA (XDA) style rubberised back cover for sale? Assuming it fits of course.

mda compact iv has rounded corners, the diamond is square so cannot be interchanged.

Ive asked in separate thread about possibility how to customize plastic back cover. My idea was to either airbrush backcover with standard black or use special ruberized layer. But I dont know how to make that kind of layer I guess Ill have to google to find some option :)
