(2) Free CID Unlocking the Elf using pof's patched 1.11.0000SPL (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=320155) or htctouchp's patched 1.17.0000SPL (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=408637#1) or koko-touchp's :p patched 1.19.0000SPL (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=408637#2) <= Use these if your original SPL is 1.1X.0000(or your IPL is 1.1X.0002)!
(3) Free CID Unlocking the Elfin (and the latest manufactured Elf) using djvw's patched 2.20.0000SPL (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=372152) or htctouchp's patched 2.26.0000SPL (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=408637#3) , patched 2.28.0000SPL (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=408637#4) & patched 3.07.0000 (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=408637#5) <= Use these if your original SPL is 2.2X.0000(or your IPL is 2.2X.0002) - There are some reports that Elf upgrading from 1.1X IPL&SPL to 2.2X IPL&SPL was successful, but take your own risk!
(4) Commercial CID Unlocker for both Elf&Elfin (http://www.imei-check.co.uk/elfunlock.php)
8. After CID Unlocking, better check if it really worked
A safe way to find out if your CID unlocking worked is following this method (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=1695355&postcount=1) & check the line:
g_cKeyCardSecurityLevel = ?
;If ?=0 => Touch=CID_Unlocked => Able to flash any ROM or Radio Update through Bootloader
;If ?=FF => Touch=CID_Locked => Try CID_Unlocking again BEFORE flashing anything
9. SIM Unlock your phone (So that you can use any carrier's SIM)
(1) Free Touch_Unlock (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=328221) (Members report that it's working only for Elf)
(2) HTC TOUCH SIM UNLOCKER FREE (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=327927&highlight=airtel)
(3) Commercial SIM Unlocker1 (http://www.imei-check.co.uk/elfunlock.php)
(4) Commercial SIM Unlocker2 (http://www.unlock-now.com/elf/)
(5) Commercial SIM Unlocker3 (http://www.htccode.com/)
(6) dsixda's free unlocker (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=418894)
10. Available Roms,Radios,IPLs&SPLs
(1) Original Shipped Roms
---(1.1) Elfin's Original Shipped Roms, listed by CID & DID (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=2045051&postcount=1)
---(1.2) Elf's Original Shipped Roms, listed by CID & DID (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=2045325&postcount=2)
(If one Rom matches your CID & DID, you could always flash it successfully through bootloader. Always means even without CID Unlocking)
But have in mind that Original Shipped ROMs include IPL&SPL that will ovewrite yours and your device will be CID Locked after flashing these!
(2) Elf&Elfin's Dumped Roms, listed by CID & DID (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=2046292&postcount=3)
(Consider these Roms as cooked ones, meaning that they can be flashed to your device ONLY IF it is CID Unlocked
or
[alternative1] you use SoftSPL
or
[alternative2] you use JumpSPL)
(3) Elf&Elfin's Custom Roms (http://wiki.xda-developers.com/index.php?pagename=Elf_Custom_ROMS) plus Alternative thread for old ROMs (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=414920)
(They can be flashed to your device ONLY IF it is CID Unlocked
or
[alternative1] you use SoftSPL
or
[alternative2] you use JumpSPL)
(4) Elf&Elfin Radio Updates (http://wiki.xda-developers.com/index.php?pagename=Elf_RadioUpgrades)
(They can be flashed to your device ONLY IF it is CID Unlocked
or
[alternative1] you use SoftSPL
or
[alternative2] you use JumpSPL)
(5) Elf&Elfin IPLs&SPLs (http://wiki.xda-developers.com/index.php?pagename=Available%20IPLs%20%26%20SPLs)
(Be careful with these ROM parts)
11. Flashing Roms
(1) If you have a CID unlocked device (Elf&Elfin) just enter bootloader & run the RomUpdateUtility (http://rapidshare.com/files/163660881/RUU.zip)(aka RUU)
(2) If you have a CID locked device & you don't want to mess with the SPL but still want to try another Rom you could:
---(2.1) Use SoftSPL (http://rapidshare.com/files/126617156/Flash_ROM.rar) for both Elf&Elfin
---(2.2) Use JumpSPL (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=334667) for both Elf&Elfin
But have in mind that if something goes wrong(Bad Flash or Bad Rom) you'll end up facing any possible problem with a device that is CID Locked!

This is similar to walking into a hospital... and then asking for directions to the hospital. ;)

I'm reading and reading but still don't understand...
quote>>
* ELF_USPL-v1.zip to your C:\ (drive)
* Extract hardspl_for_elf_xxxx.zip to C:\ELF_USPL\RUU
* Delete ELF_USPL_v1.nbh from C:\ELF_USPL\RUU, keeping ONLY the RUU_Signed.nbh
<<unquote
Which files should be in C:\ELF_USPL\RUU ??
- if i take the hardspl_for_elf_228.zip i just get one file: 228hspl.nbh
- if i take the ELFIN_HSPL_3.10.zip i get the whole thing with \LOADER, \RUU and elf-USPL.exe
Should i just run the elf-USPL.exe from ELFIN_HSPL_3.10.zip or copy stuff from hardspl_for_elf_228.zip and run the elf-USPL.exe from ELF_USPL-v1.zip as you described?
Please help, this is my first try and i don't want to mess it up!!
thanx

Sorry: for flashing the radio only, does ROMUPDATEUTILITY understand that the file .nbh is only the radio?
What happens if I flash an Elfin radio on a Elf?
Thanks in advance

Last nite i upgraded my elfin from 6.0 to 6.1 official. The interface is great with Manilla. Now on my visit to XDA forums, i found the ONYX ultimate ROM more interesting. My doubt now is that, is it safe to use the ONYX..? Is it possible to flash from 6.1 official to ONYX..? Is it stable...?
And one more.. in 6.1 official ROM, how can we disable threaded display in SMS..? Any thoughts...?
Thanks in adv..

If your phone is cid unlocked, you can flash any rom (Onyx is one of the better)
You can disable threaded SMS using AdvancedConfig (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=418151)

If you haven't installed a USPL o HSPL yet, your phone is CID locked...
To unlock it, read this (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=445666) :)
