Hi guys,

with this tool you can switch between 'volume on' and 'vibrate' by shaking your phone :-)

Just run it and click on 'Hide', so that it always run in background.

Please test it and tell me if the sensivity is ok and if it's not drain your battery to much.

Please donate for me! I'm a student and I spend all my free time for developing tools for you!

Vibration feedback (1x long: vibration mode on, 2x short volume on)
A lot of settings for parameters. Just play around with them, because it's difficult to explain them.
At the moment settings will be lost, after closing my app.

Sounds nice!

But how "hard" do you have to shuffle? I mean can it happen accidentially for example by running with the phone in your pocket?

That's why it takes so long until i published this app.

I coded it so, that nothing can happend! Only if you shuffle the device, it change to vibrate or back to volume on.

I think it is not possible, that this happens, when you having your phone in your pocket ..... ok i don't know what you are doing the whole day...maybe it is possible :D

COOL!

Not to be ungrateful...but would it be possible to write something similar that will put an alarm into "Snooze" mode?

eg...Alarm goes off and instead of me having to navigate through the menu's to stop or snooze, I would just shake it?

i'd like to have a function by shuffling the diamond, that the screen goes on or off...

horstborsch
9th July 2008, 07:00 PM
well done!

But is there any notification if you shake it that the status change is preformed?
So if you do it with the screen switched off you need a feedback if it was sucessfull. Maybe one beep for vibrate and two beeps for volume on?

It doesn't work, when the device is in standby!

If the device is on, you see it in title bar.

But i could also add a vibration feedback when switching.

I will have a look at this...

@sushi : did you use the Gsensor API for that ?

@MonteCristoffOn:
I figured it out by myself, how to use the gsensor.

But at the end it was easier and faster to use the finished api, which was published a few days ago.

After testing, i figured out, that my app works when the phone is in standby. First i said, that it won't...

In next release i give you the possibilty to change parameters, so that we can find the optimal settings.

Yes please provider a slider or something to be able to set the sensitivity by ourselves..... cuz sometimes when I shake it, it changes... other times it doesn't :p But the intention of this program: I love it!

Working Great!!

Awesome App!

i agree with other comments about the below....

As mentioned, a small vibrate or noise ( maybe make a noise when switch to loud, and vibrate it when switch to vibrate ??)

The shake to "wake up" the fone sounds awesome.
also shake to snooze or turn off the alarm.

Also things such as turning the phone over would work well with the alarm functions, and turning off the alarm

How about turn phone over to snooze alarm... shake it to stop alarm ??? :-)

akito
9th July 2008, 08:26 PM
Thinking of things... perhaps you can make a 'record' function to record the users shake. Like that it can react to the way the users shakes instead of a pre-defined sensitivity :D

Fantastic...

Just what I was hoping for when I started my "Shaking the Diamond" thread:)
I'm starting to feel that there is no limit to what we can do with our roughly cut Diamond... It's realy starting to shine:D

Two improvements already mentioned in this thread that would make it perfect is 1. that the program runs completely in the background like a service
2 that it give some kinda sound/vibration to confirme the switch

Thanks again a keep up the fantastic work
Peace out...

Hi!

This is awesome!
To be most flexible the user should be able to select a prog (script/exe or anything) to execute on shaking. That would make your life much easier not to pump your code based on requests... :)
Cheers, Cina.

I release the next version with vibration feedback soon as possible! ;)

It would be great to have the option to select a sound as additional confirmation. I think that would be really cool *shake...beep* (yeah I know what you think...nerd alert)
Would it be possible to add it to apptodate?
Thanks a lot for this great app!!!

I also like very much the idea.
I use a profile switcher mostly for bluetooth discoverability.
Do you think it would be possible to add also the option of switching on bluetooth?

Thnx for the answer!

One hell of the application for the accelerator and now with vibration feedbacks too... WOW

I am not reading the threads so sleepy, but would it be possible to create a setting to adjust the sensitivity. Like say I am in my office, and teh phone rings, the phone is on the desk and doesnt need to be shaken hard at all, the increased sensativity applies. At a theme park on a rollercoaster, lowest settiing applies. Also why not just put the options in and the app then only does that function, like shake to wake, shake to answer, shake to end, shake to change profile, shake and bake.

DiemetriX
10th July 2008, 10:51 AM
@zmob123: If your phone rings at work you can just turn it face down, it will mute the call ;)

I don't know how you guys are shaking, but I don't find it sensitive enough.
It always takes several shakes for me to get it to react.
So at the moment, instead of looking like some retard having an epileptic seizure I'd rather press the volume rocker for 2 secs.

ok we need a personal sensitivity setting :) that would be great

and sometimes when i shake my Diamond the taskbar opens instead of a status change is preformed?!

SkizZO
10th July 2008, 10:38 PM
This can be an hint... Assign some movement as an upper right corner tap, so the ok/x button (and taskmanager) are assigned to one type of shake ;)

fraggar
10th July 2008, 11:12 PM
When shaking you need feedback if it worked.
Feedback like vibration or a sound.

Now I'm not sure if it worked, I need a couple of tries often.
So feedback would be nice :-)

After 1h testing these are my settings:
100
300
1
1
1
1
2
1

With this settings it´s in my opinion impossible to change the profile accidentaly. You´re changing the profile moving it not very fast (but also not to slow :D) left-center(right)-left.

Notice:
1. The program doesn´t work when the display is off.
2. After closing the program all the settings made will be cancelled and the next time you open the program you will see the default settings. I hope v.0.3 will come soon.
3. The program need 286k of ram. Can you improve something in future versions?

to 1.: That will be never possible, because all running applications are stopping, when your device goes to standby

to 2.: I know. It's not implemented yet, as I said in the changelog

to 3.: Hm.. I think there is nothing to improve, because there a just a few code lines. The 'big' ram usage is caused by the sensorapi i think.

Why shake 'left right'?

Just put the CAB on your internal device memory. Then click the cab in your device explorer and it wil install it self. When you launch the program you can edit it.

Is there any way to start the profile switcher, minimized?
I usually add it to startup, but it's a hassle to get it popped up with every restart.

Maybe add this option in 0.2.1 ?

Now sins you have used the gsensor for this ap do you think it is possible to use the light sensor in the speaker to put the screen on and off during phone calls in another aplicaton? A little bit like the iphone, when you take the phone to your ear it gets dark for the sensor - switch of the screen. And when you take it from the ear during a phone call it receives more light and put the screen back online.

What do you think about that?

Very nice tool.
But it reacts way too slow, or it doesn't react at all sometimes.

Edit: I realize that you have to get used to this tool. - You have to know HOW to shake your device.

First impressions with the above settings seem nearly spot on.

I found that this tool eats up about 1% of CPU all the time!
I'm sure this can be optimized.

As mentioned earlier in this thread, you are able to mute your Diamond by flipping it so the screen is down. That would be somewhat of a more effective way of muting, I'll say : )

Activate it from registry or from Diamond Tweak!!!

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\HTC\PHONE: FaceDownMuteRing

Value from 1 (enable) to 0 (disable)

why the development for a great program like this died?!...at least release a version where modified settings can be Saved...?!?!

that's really upsetting and disappointing:(

maybe coz the program's developer is busy? think programs like these are a privilege, not an entitlement.

COOL!

Not to be ungrateful...but would it be possible to write something similar that will put an alarm into "Snooze" mode?

eg...Alarm goes off and instead of me having to navigate through the menu's to stop or snooze, I would just shake it?

Request:
adding time window for profile switching, and adding cell-id for profile changing. (i.e http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=448783)

I want my phone to go "silent" at timewindow 2359-0700.
or "sinent" at morning meeting from 0800 to 1000.

I just recently purchased the HTC fuze and I'd have to say since I have been testing it's limits, I managed to add all of the Diamond tweaks to it and they work like a charm. Especially love the SHAKER:)

Hi,

Yesterday i fleshed my Diamond with a new ROM but i just detect there's something that kill some processes like "Diamond Profile Switcher".

Indeed i must check very often if the preccess is still alive and then re-launch it. I's a bit frustrating...

Any idea?

Thanx

Hi
Try to put a shortcut in Windows/Start up.
It will work.

i tried this succesfully, but everytime it asks to apply the settings... this sucks really!
if there is a chance to make the settings once and autostart it everytime this would be great
