i borrowed a friends Centro to use...

MAN the voice quality sucks so bad... i dont know if its because of sprint or just the phone...

just made me appreciate the Tilt so much... now im hearing the new Iphones GPS is a dud... doesnt work properly even if u are in a car... and no turn by turn navigation.. (no tomtom)

maybe The tilt is still the best smart phone out there... besides the diamond.(too expensive)

I actually have both (both at&t) and I must say, I got the centro first since I got the handles on the palm OS...Nice little "entry level" smartphone...I then got the Tilt and had to go through the learning curve a bit because I am new to the windows mobile OS...The Tilt gets my vote except for one little thing that is still plaguing the Tilt...I have TCPMP installed on both phones, and surprisingly the Centro has a more spot on rendering and AV sync than the TILT without even lowering the quality of the videos on the Centro:eek:...

my wife upgraded from a 680 to a centro. she loves the centro, i hate the thing. then again, i've never like the palm OS. i tried to get her to get a tilt or a 750, but she says they are too complicated, go figure.

tilt > centro

my $0.02

I also have no idea why people like palm phones.

I currently have a blackberry curve I took in on trade. I am trying to figure out what people like about them. It has the dumbest interface I have ever seen. It seems very simple and intuitive, until you try and actually do something. Everything is hidden amongst menu after confusing menu. It seriously takes a little over 3 minutes to boot up cold. And I complained that my tilt takes a little over 30secs.

I wish the video playback was better on my phone. But the more I play with competing smartphones, the more I realize our HTC WM phone is really the best fit for me.

Now I will admit I am looking at buying a 1st gen Iphone to play with.

hopefully, when you say "play", you mean it literally. if you think palm hides things from you, wait till you step into apple country...

Yup..spot on. Apple has redefined the term "HIDE" and "MYSTERY"
The only Apple I love, is the one I eat.
Still love my TyTN II after over 6 months of heavy use, on stock ROM with an 8gb MicroSD HC card filled with tons of EVERYTHING, including several full feature movies, tv shorts, mp3's, pictures, sound clips, ALL my work files, music videos, applications and games galore, Core Player, TCPMP, Mortplayer, Resco Explorer, SK Tools, TomTom, Handimap and then some....Apple just cannot compete at the same level.

WOW! I'm surprised only some newbies (based on join date Sep 07 and Feb 08) talk bad about palm. The reason I left palm because it lack of HSDPA, A2DP, and non-upgrade OS.

palm treo/centro screen resolution is 320 x 320 vs. 240 x 320 on many popular PPC/Phone devices. Also, treo keyboard smokes 8125, 8525, 8925 and HP 6xxx. People on palm never complain about video quality if they have a chance to see how tilt (with much more RAM, stronger CPU) perform.

Actually, goes from 680 to the Centro is not an "upgrade." According to palm, centro is aimed to the newbies. With my experiences, go from treo 90, 300, 600, Wallaby SX56, 650, BlueAngel SX66, Wizard 8125, 680, Hermes 8525, and now Kaiser Tilt 8925, I still find that WM OS way too complicated over palmOS. Recently, WM OS on my Tilt, still lack of some useful essential applications e.g Snapper Mail/ChatterMail, Call Filter/Call Block, Takephone, Butler and PhoneTechnician; especially, callRec, which let you record phone conversations w/o the speaker turn on!
I also have no idea why people like palm phones.

What is your "try and actually do something"?

Well, I really think that you talk in reverse way! I don't have centro, but still own 680 stiffy loaded. If you seriously want to see how innocent you are, I'll post the clip how my Kaiser Tilt and Treo 680 boot up after a soft reset!

Let us know how great it is once you get it. :)

I've received a Palm Centro to review and I must tell you that the voice quality of the centro is better than any HTC or windows mobile phone I've ever used so far. The phone wakes and starts ringing immediately unlike (all) windows mobile professional phones who take ~2-4secs just to start ringing.

Yes, the phone does lack important features like wifi(blame palm) and multi-tasking(blame Palm OS), but it is a nice and fast phone.

from my experience even with full signal strenght, the centro's voice quality was muffled... i could barely understand what the other person was saying..

maybe i have been spoilt by using such top phones like Tilt and Tmobile SDA...

by the way, i think the SDA has the best of all sound quality and mic quality. The tilts microphone is not as good as the SDA mic... sound quality, both are excellent.

the centro looks like a kids toy... hehehe when i see people showing off the centro... lol it doesnt look right..... then i pull up my Tilt and they go wow.

im not making fun of Palm but just saying, when u compare Centro and Tilt.. its like comparing Hyatt Hotel to a Motel6.

You may want to take some listening classes. Just kidding. :)

FYI: You can get the Centro now on at&t with as little as $70; meanwhile tilt costs you $200. 3 Centro = 1 tilt!

Centro now sells for $69 at AT&T... it's a low end phone, call quality wise is of course compromised... The design I think is not very appealing... But they now also sells the Tilt for $199 after iPhone 3g came alive...

All my comments were about the blackberry. fwiw. My only comment about the palm was I don't get why people like them. Read a little slower next time before going into details about what you disagree with me about.

I played around with one the other day and I felt dumber as hell after using it. I don't know if uts the simple interface or what. I can't stand the thing and the palm OS. Just makes me feel better now that I got the tilt. Had it since Nov. 2007 and never looking back.

i dont see how anyone can type on the centro... those keys are just too tiny and too close together for me.
