just install the cab file on main memory and go to:

I found a minor bug in 941 though! In settings, even if English is selected, when setting a new path, Storage Card for Instance, there's a dialog still in cirylic.

OK maybe I'm missing something here, but when I go to : Start -> Settings -> Connections -> OBEX Inbox to choose where u want to recieve files , I dont see the option your talking about?? Can you be more specific?

You don't install it on your SD of course ;)

Nice app! But like tnyynt said there are still some strings that are non English. Even when English is selected.

Any way we can contribute in providing you with some translations? I could do the Dutch translation for you if you like.
But to do this I need the correct English strings.

OK I did but still no option, but initially I installed the latest Cab first then the cert.cab, so Re-installed the hc4_inbox.cab, and now reseting incase the order of install was important. But basically there should be an Obex Inbox applet under connections to launch correct?

Yup - That did it. :) Course the confirmation dialog appears to be in russian or some other language, I assume you should select Yes to that. :)

THis will save time as I always have to wake the device to copy files over via BlueTooth.. Great App.. Now just a matter of testing it.

Be careful about IDS_MAIN and IDS_MAIN_NOSIZE. In translation you should have the same order of parameters (begins with %).

Also bug with save confirmation dialog is fixed in 0.942. But I want also add there new localizations and then I'll put here new build ;)

First try it without cert. And only if it will not work, than you should install cert. I've signed app because of some security issueses in WM6. For example, for me it works without cert, but some guys on forum can't use it without cert.

No. Only one for your WM version :)
Actualy they both will work on WM5 and WM6, but in second there is no support for soft buttons. So for WM5 and WM6 it is better to use first file (hc4_inbox.cab).

the cancel choice during recieving a file is missing...if its a big file i can onle hide but not cancel it

last, a confirmation to accept or reject incoming files would be great

As I understand, such things are managed by OBEX Server (not by extension). So I can't do anything to it. Also I hve no such problem on my PPC => If i turn off beaming or BT - it is stops working ;)

After installing and soft-resetting my device (Qtek 9000 using the latest WM6 Jwright's ROM - probably just a device-specific issue) I was unable to send anything from any phone to my device.

Thankfully I thought about searching the registry and found a solution which is already posted elswhere on the forums, but I'll quote it here as well:

Using any registry editor go to 'HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Obex' and verify that the 'IsEnabled' DWORD value is set to '1'. The value should be set to '1' to enable OBEX and '0' to disable OBEX.

If it's set to '0' just set it to '1', soft-reset and voila: files come through without a hitch :D

Mine was mysteriously set to '0' even though I had already changed the value to '1' a while ago before I installed the app.

Apart from this (extremely minor) issue, great work! :)

I think, this information not necessary, after file had been received ;)
So I decided to use notif space, to display all files received until you close this notif. Very useful feature, when you need to receive 50 files at a time ;)

there is a browser included in a BT software called (moblue) that you may adapt (by the way, i had errors recieving with moblue..but i just like its explorer) ... also i have resco file explorer & i send files from its menu...i am not a programmer at all & what i say may not be useful, but to layman it seems that the file list tree that it pulls out looks useful

again i am happy with your CAB the way it is now...just suggestions

Yes - it is correct for now, because I don't like windows's default implementation of file browser and I can't find any other useful and free inplementation :(

But This is actually meant for saving files. Might be an idea...

i agree with you, i like that the application recieves all incoming files then you can delete ..& now you can turn it off...cool
but how difficult is it to add an accept / reject files (like the original WM notification - if you like to save?)...if it is not difficult, maybbe you can add a "check box" option for users who may like that? what you think?

i know its a lot of work...but you did such an excellent job & raised the bar..we are getting greedy :)

I hope someone can help. I installed the latest hc4_inbox.cab and when I send a file via bluetooth the file appears now at my device root directory instead of my_documents before installation. However, I do not have any icon in my start->settings->connections that others in this thread seem to have. My registry has entries for the obex inbox so I believe the .cab installed.

Thanks for the suggestion. I use memMaid which has a tool to do a soft reset. I have also used the xv6700 push button reset - but neither solve the problem. I have also tried installing with and without the certs.cab and neither seem to work. I wonder if I may need a later version of the .net framework (I have 2.0 now).

I reviewed this thread and haven't seen anyone who tells you which OS they use being less than WM6 - except for a post regarding WM2003, I tried that one as well with no luck.

I think, this information not necessary, after file had been received ;)
So I decided to use notif space, to display all files received until you close this notif. Very useful feature, when you need to receive 50 files at a time

I see, and it's a good idea ;) but if i receive a file from someone is great to know who have sent this ;) (for example i use it on university, but i don't know who have sent the file, and it's a problem. If is possibile and if is not hard to implement, can you add this as option? (something like a check button for enable/disable).

Strange. I have also Palm Treo 750 (with WM6) and I can see the OBEX Inbox in "Connections" tab.

1. It was suprise for me also. But it seems that it is possibility of bluetooth HW to wakeup device on incoming connection. My program only don't give device to go to sleep, until file will be received. So I haven't noticed any increase in power consumption :)

2. I hope also. For now best variant is gsGetFile, but it supposed to be used as dynamic library, but I don't want to have another DLL in my prog only for File Browse Dialog functionality :)
As I said - normally you change this path only once ;)

And whats wrong? If you don't push OK button - it means that you don't saw message. Why you don't want to press OK button?

It doesn't on my Touch Diamond. If I recall correct it did on my old Kaiser. But I'm not sure a 100%.

On my current device the line is empty.

Maybe you could also add a version number to the screen. I'm now using the latest you've posted. The one where Italian was added if I'm correct.

I find, why CPL doesn't works under WM5.
If I try to load this CPL using LoadLibrary, it returns error 47e (Newer version of windows needed). But in same time, base program dll could be loaded perfectly.
I've searched throught all projects settings and didn't find any dufference.
Maybe somebody knows, why it could happen?

I've had the same problem. I've only deleted the content of the "Textbox" and clicked on the button. I think this bug happens when there's no folder "\Storage Card" (I'm french and my folder is "Carte de stockage").

I don't understand, what bug are you talking about.
After installing the new version, you need to SoftReset device.
Only thing, that I see, is that by default file store path is "\Storage Card\FTP". And I've made it, because "Storage Card" is default name for SD-Card folder. But some vendors in their devices change this name.
E.g. I have russian phone, and this folder named Storage Card ;)

ps. You don't need to remove old path from editbox, to choose some other throught folder browser.

Hmm.. No. Just imagine, how much time do you need, to download at least 50mb throught BT ;) So you could not afraid of it...
Also you could disable file receiving in options...

hc4_inbox.cab - unsigned version for WM5,WM6,WM6.1 :)
hc4_inbox_signed.cab - the same, but signed (because some devices could work only with signed libs)

Use the dialog screen from the last version.
If you use an older version you can just manual change the storage location.

1. It is more bugfixing, than developement ;)
2. Maybe.. But you could receive many files, and all of them will be displayed in one notif. So I don't know, which of this files to run... but I could make such possibility, if only one file was received :)

It is plugin for microsoft obex server. Server itself is windows service. If there is incoming file, than server call my dll to download this file. So my program didn't stay resident all the time. But it seems to me, that server didn't unload this dll after file donwload... only in case of low memory.
But my programm uses about 50kb of RAM... i think it is not too much ;)

First of all I'd like to thank to the author of this great application - you made a tremendous job and I really appreciate what you've done! This is exactly the kind of application I've been looking for lately.

But if I may, I'd like to express a couple of my ideas that could be useful... ;)
As someone before has said, it would be great to incorporate a progress bar into the popup window.
The popup window blinks each time it is reloaded/updated - is it possible to avoid that?
Is there a chance to make the blue BT icon more detailed for the VGA screen? Or maybe it would be worth trying to differ the icon somehow from the normal BT icon - I think the icon in the top bar should represent data transfer (so maybe some arrows?), not the BT itself. But that's just my opinion.

One thing that I still find strange. I have 2 identical Samsung Omnia (WM6) with only the internal memory card different (one has 8GB the other 16GB). Both have the same ROM version which I personaly upgraded. Both phones are more or less similarly configured (just some apps are different since one phone is for me and the other for my wife). BUT..... I installed the program (signed version) and after soft reset, I can see the OBEX icon in the settings panel, but not on the second phone?????

Some other people experienced the same problem. But I am puzzled by the fact that 2 almost identical phones behave differently? Of course I can still change the destination folder from the registry, but just wondering why this behavior???

Have you double checked whether the path you entered is valid? I mean - when I had E-TEN, the storage card was mounted to "SDMMC" folder, not the "Storage Card" one...

Check the following on your registry:

Mine was mysteriously set to '0', all I did was set it to '1', soft-reset and files come through without a hitch.

I afraid that program is not work on smartphones. But it is strange and I don't know why. Try to install version for WM2003.

Check Beam settings. There is should be checked option "Receive incoming beams".
Also try all 3 versions.
I don't know any other possibilities :(

after the istallation (and a soft reset) (in internal memory... not mystorage) a
i can't find in start---setting---connection any OBEX config. why?
if i send from another device(from 6630 or from my Notebook) a file to my omnia:
on the sender device i have an error (can't send the file...)
on the omnia i can't accept/decline... but i have a first notification ballon whit information like name of file, transfer speed ecc... only for 1 second... and then another ballon: FILE RECEIVED nameoffile.extension* (es: image.jpg*)... what the '*' ??
but the file 'image.jpg aren't in any folder of my omnia(not in classic folder MYdocuments... not in Mystorage....)
i think any file are received from my Omnia

Because I have a Samsung Omnia I900 with Arabic MUI but I can not find your program icon under Start->Settings->Connections!

I managed to change the Obex StroePath in the Register under HKLM/Software/ObexInboxEx to \My Storage\ which is the Omnia's internal 8/16GB memory. I think it was \Storage\FTP or so.

Anyways the program is receiving files fine but I can not access the settings.

Yes, look in settings and disable incoming beams inside the program... ..This program has a few options. Disabling incoming transmissions is one of them :D

Also, turn of incoming beams in your normal Settings tab should also work.

Turning off incoming beams in Normal settings does nothing...Obexinboxex seems to override that control......

.hopefully a tweak or a new version can be released that links the normal "incoming beams" setting in comm manager and the check box settings in the obexinboxex settings menu so when i press the normal incoming beam button, it unchecks or checks the box in the obexinboxex setting.


Obexinbox seems to go over all the usual windows mobile settings...for instance, even though I have the box, "Beam Authentication required checked" the files still come in from strangers without a passkey......

This is a HUGE security vulnerability.........although this may also be the secret to how ObexInboxEx works so well...so it may not be something that can be changed..

Try "\Storage Card\FTP", that's the default place, if you don't have icon, you can change it in the registry, I've got similar problem with my old TyTN, but it solved itself after Soft-Reset :).

i can't get this working at all :( i'm running wm6.1 (CRC 13.2) on an htc hermes, and when i receive a bluetooth file, i get the normal notification dialog, it saves the tempfile in the hklm\software\microsoft\obex\...\basedir registry setting and promptly moves it to my documents when i click 'save'. no sign of obexinboxex anywhere. i've soft-reset the device several times, and confirmed that the obexinbox registry keys are present - currently out of ideas.

About problems with devices (like i900). As I see, on some devices it works, on some not. I think that this is the problem of customized flashes for that devices.

It's everything, that i remember to say. If you'll have questions - ask. I'll try to read this topic sometimes.

Changelog:

I only have a small problem,I think not really bug but annoyance.

The problem is installing the program on some Diamond's ROM that when I click on "..." button to open the folder it does nothing. (not open the folder options)
In some others Diamond ROM's (As "Nataly") it works perfect and open the folder to choose what you want.

Installation steps: Install, soft reset and go to start->connections->Obexinbox control panel
I have tested signed, normal, and serveral old and new versions with same result.

For ROM's that doesn't work, I noteced that if I clear some part of the text box and click on "..." it runs, Exit, open again and the same problem (it saves the new path with this method)

In official 2.03 rom have these problem too, so don't understand what happens.

Did you check if it works on ROMs that have .NET pre-installed?
Could explain the problem...

As far as I remember, for me it was solved by installing .NET Compact Framework 3.5.

Is strange. I tried with ROM's that have .NET 3.5 installed. Most of them are coocked ROM's. The 2.03 Oficial has .Net 2.0 and the same problem.

For example: VIC 3.4 Diamond ROM with .NET 3.5 not working well, Nataly 2.0 with .NET 3.5 working ok.

The selection folder appears, but in ones ROM is working directly clicking on "..." button (As Nataly 2.0) and others (most of them) I need to delete the "Text input path" before if I want to see the folder selecction.

I have tried your VGA Diamond version (thanks wizaard) and the same problems with the same ROM's.

Is like something is diferent from one ROM's to Other's but can't find them. (I decompile them and Cook them again with the same results...:confused:)

The only thing I know is that out there, there is some extended file chooser dialog - maybe those ROMs use it and the OBEXInboxEx conflicts with it. That's all I could come up with.

Some of them cause that when you press the folder button not open the dialog.
When you delete the textbox, you active part of the xt9 and after this can open de the dialog.

Try to open the keyboard (diamond) and after write something to xt9 bar appears and after this click open, you will see that the button works.

Better is to cook a ROM with other versions of XT9.

I try it and was the problem.

Recoocked the ROM with the XT9 from Nataly and ROMs that where working and all ROM's works perfect!!!

hc4: I think that would be interesting informing in your russian forum and other threads that can be some incompatibility with XT9 files, especially in Diamond, HDTouch, Touch Pro.

From my point of view the best thing would be to somehow convince the author to release the source files and someone smart would make a few improvements (for example the status bar and some workaround to avoid blinking of the info on refresh). Then it would be totally must-have app for WM ever.

Yes, that would be nice. Although we must respect the autor as he made this fantastic tool and is comprensible that he want to improve this tools with his name.

BTW, I am happy that hc4 made this fantastic tool and if he decide to give source, would be cool, if not it's not problem, we have a wonderfull tool to play with BT:)

About sender name. I didn't saw devices, that send it's name throught Inbox protocol. Another way to get this name, is to hack BT stack, to get active connection inforamtion. And I don't want to do it :)

And you can always search in the registry and change it there, I've made myself an .XML file, so my settings are imported automatically after installing the app, after ROM flash ot Hard-Reset.

I couldn't get the control panel to show in the connections tab. But reading through the thread I saw that you can edit the path using a registry change. I did that and it works great!

Then I was wondering why I couldn't get the control panel so i found the control panel in the windows folder and clicked on it and it opens and works fine. So as a "fix" for all of you that can't get the control panel in connections just make a shortcut of the actual .cpl file (/windows/obexinbxex.cpl) and place it in your /windows/start menu/programs/ folder and you can launch it from your programs menu.
