I had been getting the same errors on my vogue until earlier this week. I deleted the cab, re-d/led it and now it seems to be working. I also use pocket scrobbler and love it, but I mostly use it because im obsessed with tracking my listening on last.fm. They have an unstable version out (1.7 #3) that has a new interface that is much better.

I've found some ridiculous bug where the volume goes up when you hit the "OK" button on the phone while music is playing. If you do it again, the volume goes up some more.

On my Omnia the volume goes up when you hit the D pad up and down when you hit it down, which makes sense and is quite nice. This volume control for Pandora is independent of the normal speaker volume and cranks up pretty loud, which is good when I am driving my car and want to listen to Pandora.

the way i overcame the debug error was to hard reset. then the first app. to install is pandora. then all your other cabs. it conflicts when installed over other apps. give it a try. i have a herald/wing/atlus on 5.99 t-mobile proxy. and have not had the 2 debug errors since doing the above.

Most likely a proxy issue. Was for me. Try turning the Proxy off then load Pandora.. Worked for me.

So Pandora 1.1.4 is "PARTIALLY" working on my HTC 8525 now. The application was able to connect to Pandora site and loaded the list of my radio stations, but for some reason it just wouldn't finish the job to play a song without crashing with a "DEBUG ASSERTION FAILED!" pop-up. I also made sure that my proxy server was unchecked before opening the application.

I think I might have an answer to why this is happening: Most of you PDAs/Smartphone users subscribe to ISP connections as your default data plan, and very few of you AT&T subscribers are using MEdia Net (WAP.CINGULAR).

The program writer of this posted Pandora.cab probably left out the script to include supporting PDA users with WAP connections for the rest of us, and I believe that might be the cause of it. Would someone please help us on writing a Pandora cab that supports WAP.CINGULAR connections for AT&T users?

So there is no fix for this debug assertion error other than hard resetting the phone? You can't just reinstall the most recent ROM, you *HAVE* to hard reset? I had been expecting this problem to go away with the official version, which is now available for the mogul, but I get the same error as the older cabs.

Open File Explorer, hilight but don't launch Pandora, open your keyboard and hit the Enter key to launch it. The keyboard will stay open.

I downloaded a Pandora.cab onto my T-mobile wing I registered online at Pandoras site and it works with no problems. The thumbs up/thumbs down feature does work you just touch it and in a couple seconds it'll appear by itself.

here's what i have on my fuze on at&t

I had the trial cab installed, dl'ed the full cab.
before i installed the full cab i installed the cabs from posts 146 and 187.
i'm waiting to install the full cab to avoid a subscription fee.

the trial cab functioned well, but was somewhat slow.
the posted cabs functioned better, but at a sacrifice of interface.

the 2 posted cabs seem the same (forgive me if they are, there have been several cabs posted in this thread.)

If they indeed point to a different pandora server as chavonbravo said, 2 options come to mind:
- either adapt the qvga app to vga resolution or
- adapt the vga app to use the settings in the qvga.

There was trouble with the decomp of the app mentioned previously. just curious where this ended up.

Anyone found a solution to use the non at&t servers in vga res?

I have pandora working great on my Samsung Omnia (Verizon). However, it stops after about 30 minutes to ask if you are still there. You have to press OK and then it continues. This is bothersome to have to give it input so often just to keep listening.
Does anyone know of a tweak to change to 'timeout' time?

Isn't the AT&T Fuze VGA? Does this mean you got a VGA working version since you got a mobile download from pandora.com? If it works could you please share.

I can't get it to connect on 6.5 either... I can't decide if i like the pretty or i like pandora better. I try not to use pandora on data cause im paying att for web on a razr :-P

I grabbed the .cab posted a few pages back and installed it on my diamond. theres no SIP support at all, but i figured out a way to log in.

First I grabbed the demo for pocketvnc: http://www.pocketvnc.com/projects/pocketvnc/index.php (timed demo, you have to be kinda fast)

and I already have ultravnc installed, great software: http://www.uvnc.com/

pocketvnc should show your device's local IP address in the "options" tab if you dont already know it. enter that into ultravnc viewer.

Once you get your connection working, open pandora via your desktop VNC viewer, sometimes youll get lucky and itll show the SIP key while connected, if this is the case you can click that and enter your login.

If you cant see the SIP key in the viewer, you may want to copy/paste your email address for the login. (for some reason it wouldnt register periods for me so my email address wouldnt work)

You should be logged in to Pandora on your VGA device now, my login stays after a soft reset, but you may want to keep a copy of the VNC stuff just in case. I know theres probably apps that make windows mobile VNC server easy, but this way works, and pandora is running fine on my phone ;)

Lastly, the icons are overlapping and the keys are pretty messed up, but the only major bug is that you cant create a station on your phone, as the SIP doesnt work unless you make a vnc connection...

the pocketvnc file is an exe to be run from your phone.

the pandora cab seems to not be vga, but it works fine once you get logged in. The only real problem is the keyboard, you cant make a new station because you cant type or paste, but you can listen to all your stations, rate, bookmark, etc.

I loaded the CAB from this thread and although it is not VGA, I have full functionality including adding stations. I am not having any problems with typing.

For keyboard issues you might try loading KforTouchPro and change to MIM$. This is just a guess based on getting logmein.com to work.

This works on my 8525 with 6.1 the only issue is that it doesnt show in x button and altf4 doent work with it. I guess it loads in a non typical way but other than that it works great. ill try to post the cab but im logged in from my phone atm and not quite sure how.

So I have an ATT Fuze running the RRE 6.5 Series6 21215 RC3 rom.
I downloaded the Pandora cab from internet explorer (www.pandora.com).
It gave me one cab that I installed and it said my trial was over. I had previously used the att version on my tilt. I then tapped on the subscribe link and it sent me to a page confirming my wish to subscribe. It then gave me a second cab to download. I tried to connect and when I chose a station,
it timed out as it has with others using 6.5 versions. I do not know if anyone can do anything with these cabs, but here they are labeled as pre-subscription and post-subscription files. The application was displaying the text formatted for VGA. All other versions I have found online have had the text formatted for QVGA. See Screenshots.

Here you go guys, this worked on my AT&T Tilt, or the Kaiser as you may know it. On first run I had to use landscape to use my keyboard for the email and password, but after that you can use it in portrait or landscape.

It plays the songs all the way through, sees all my stations, its terrific.

ok i think i just figured it out. Download both caps from post 299, yes its not for qvga device but trust me download it. install the pre subscription first and run it. it should work, sign in and try testing it, play a station or something, if it works, exit install the post subscription. and try it again. it should work, go and find the actual cab for qvga. i tried to find one on this site but couldn't, if you don't know where else to get it from. just message me and i will give you the link. idk if xda want me to put it up here since its a warez website.

you know these guys have obviously been given a device list from ATT on which PDAs to allow it or not. They said it didn't work on my treo 750, but I downloaded the cab from here and it works just fine.

I'm assuming some of you are using this? I have had this on my sprint vogue, can't recall where I downloaded it a while back to give the person credit; sorry if this is a repost. Keyboard does not come up when trying to create a station, otherwise everything works. This is not a trial version, no payment required.

I downloaded the app directly from Pandoras site via my phone. I was curious to know, Has there been any fix to get this to work over WiFi yet?

I am using it on my Fuze and I get a warning about needing an unlimited data plan to use it, and it only works when I have a really good HSDPA connection.

Meanwhile, I could be connected to a very strong wifi signal and it wont work. It only uses 3G/HSDPA.

i am using 6.1 on my wizard. THe cab installs fine and when i open the program Pandora pops up but it has a spinning white loading thing which goes on for a few min and then says "We're Experiencing issues" and to try again later. Tried several times.

what device are you using? on my diamond all the options are in the dpad. I think the exit command is in dpad up. Its not the most beautiful pandora app but it definitely works like it should.

Using the Fuze as mentioned. I don't mind it not bein' pretty, but even when a song is playing, only the left half of the image is displayed. No menu or exit option once the music starts.

Thanks so much for posting this hack...it works on my Fuze! Yes, the type is small, but I can totally overlook that for free music! (Hate that ATT doesn't think they get enough of my money every month that they have to charge for music everyone else gets for free!)

for people that have a problem that the keybard wont pop up i found that hiting start without exiting pandora and hitting programs will bring the keyboard icon below so the only thing u have to do is hit the keyboard icon close the window and voala u have an onscreen keyboard dont know if it will work other devices but it works on my htc touch viva. hope this will help some people.

Anyone else still having this issue? I'm getting it on my Sprint HTC Touch running NFSFAN 1.12 (WM 6.1). Songs play fine all the way up until the end, then they are cut off and Pandora goes to "Connecting..." until the next song. This happens every song.

Anyone else still having this issue? I'm getting it on my Sprint HTC Touch running NFSFAN 1.12 (WM 6.1). Songs play fine all the way up until the end, then they are cut off and Pandora goes to "Connecting..." until the next song. This happens every song.

I've tried several Pandora versions, including the latest official (1.1.10) and also the VX6900 cab posted in this thread.

this is a VERY wrong assesment....

I'm running a wm6.5 rom one of the TPC roms and installed and have pandora v 1.0.25 running perfectly.

anybody having the issue that they cant use the headphones when they hook up the charger?

i have a TP(sprint/ stockrom- Tweaked) and when i use the adapter to plug in the headphones it works; but as soon as i plug in the charger cord to that adapter, it stops the output to the headphones and outputs through the speaker. as soon as I take out the charger, it channels the audio back through the headphones.

this started happening after I installed pandora and the 977radio app.

The only problem, and from what I have heard hasnt been fixed....Is that with mine it will only work for a couple weeks and then it gets that "Windows Debug assertion" or whatever issue, and only works again after a hard reset, has this been fixed ACE?

tried it on my att tilt and it didnt work. same as all the others. i found another cab that does work after a month of trying eveything i could find. i just installed it and it works. i cant believe it lol. it said trial version and its for a fuze so im hoping it'll just keep going since my phones not a fuze. we'll see. anyways ill post the file someone jus tell me how to do it.

I installed the cab from post #350 on this thread (Pandora ver 1.0.25) -- VZW TP2 WM6.1 stock ROM -- It plays a song for a few minutes, then stops before the end, displays "Connecting" for a while, then starts playing a new song. Is there any way to make it play the complete song?

Here you go guys, this worked on my AT&T Tilt, or the Kaiser as you may know it. On first run I had to use landscape to use my keyboard for the email and password, but after that you can use it in portrait or landscape.

It plays the songs all the way through, sees all my stations, its terrific.


I'm still trying to get Pandora to work on my Tilt. I've downloaded the cab associated with this text #187 but the file just sits on my desktop. When I try and extract it, nothing happens. Can someone point me in the right direction?

Yea I downloaded one of the cabs posted in this thread for my Diamond 2. It still isn't "pretty" but works well and displays the keyboard during the login process. Looks like the images were for a QVGA device running on a higher resolution screen.... but again... it does the job.

Ok so I have a working version of Pandora on my Pro2, and also fixed the issues with the songs cutting off towards the end with advance config, BUT the icons and menu features are way too tiny for my fat fingers.

Is there a better version of Pandora for WM phones with bigger icon and such?

Here's a version for portrait qvga devices. Only change is the Pandora startup screen image not cutting off.

To get the input panel to show up, you can also temporarily assign any of your assignable buttons to <Input Panel> and bring it up that way, then put back to normal. You only need keyboard in the beginning to sign up anyways.

Challenge to talented decompilers out there:

I know this is probably not going to be easy, but since the Pandora streaming bitrate changes from one app to another, there MUST be a way to hack this particular app to use a higher bitrate.

I've communicated with Pandora staff (and received response from the very top of the foodchain) and it doesn't look like there'll be an app anytime soon that uses a higher bitrate since they are still convinced that carriers are the ones that are going to install the app, not end-users, and that their app only runs on certain devices (ha!).

The apps for both iPhone & PRE use a significantly higher bitrate than the WM app. I don't believe this changes from one version of the WM app to the other, but could be mistaken. I'll try a newer version, perhaps things have improved and I was unaware.

1. Uninstall any versions of Pandora you may have on your device first, also make sure you deleted the Pandora folder in your device via File Explorer.

It's sending a HTTP user agent of "Pandora-WindowsMobile-0.9" to the server. The initial request is just...

to which they respond "HTTPPayloadLine: {"stat":"ok","result":{"upgradeRequired":false}}"

We then get a url for the graphic of the artist (just a jpg).

Then it starts the stream.

Wow, thanks for that look into the binary! It seems hopeful to me - if there's a way to ask for the 64kbps stream... I'm sure someone will figure it out. Pandora's not going to bother with us for quite some time, I'm sure ,so hopefully your work has inspired someone to play around with this.

Dude, that is some really good work.. if we could sniff the packets from the iphone (might have to try that with my wifes phone) I'm sure we could implement their calls via windows mobile.. put a prettier interface on it than the crap on pandora gave us.. at least finger friendly..

I'll have to install studio on my laptop and try some tests based on what you came up with.. maybe I can get something working..

I currently have a Pandora CAB installed but am suffering from the low-quality stream issue that makes it unlistenable with headphones or through an AUX jack.

No the sound quality is terrible, I have pretty much made the switch to the new Slacker radio app for windows mobile. Much nicer cleaner app. MUCH better audio quality on WM. Not quite as flawless streaming, but works well when you have good data rate.

I'm far from a 'talented decompiler' but I just looked into the app and took a packet capture and found some things...
It's sending a HTTP user agent of "Pandora-WindowsMobile-0.9" to the server. The initial request is just...

to which they respond "HTTPPayloadLine: {"stat":"ok","result":{"upgradeRequired":false}}"

then a bunch of https traffic gets bounced around (can't see in it).

We then get a url for the graphic of the artist (just a jpg).

Then it starts the stream.

Here's an example of one such stream...

and there's your problem... 32kbps!!!!!!! ugh. I tried some basic flips of the "version" string but didn't work, no clue what valid options are.

Grabbing similar info from the browser player on a windows machine returns a URL like...

which is a 64kbps AAC stream.

So is WM even capable of playing the latter stream? not sure. But looking in the binary, I don't see a real easy way of just changing a 32 to a higher number to get a higher bitrate. Looks like the pandora server is deciding for us based on the client and I'm not sure how easy it would be to 'fake' a different client.

Is anyone still working on this? It seems as if all that needs to be done is trick the Pandora server into thinking our application is running on a device which would get the higher bitrate. I can't stand this horrible sound anymore.

I downloaded and loaded up the cabs listed above on my HD2 TMOUS and it starts, but when I get to the point to enter data in, it does not give me the on screen keyboard. Anyone want to take a crack at this?

i'm on at&t with an unlimited plan. i know at&t has a subscription agreement with pandora, but i've read posts of at&t users who are using pandora without subscription. after reading through quite a few pages of this and other threads and trying quite a few different cab versions, ive had no such luck.

what is it that i need to to in order to use it without subscription on my samsung epix? delete reg keys? new pandora account? please help...

Theres no Pandora update for WM. Thats one of the reasons I went the Android route.

In order to get the TP2 install from Post 350 to install on my Samsung Omnia II (SCH-i920) I did two things I found here earlier:

1. Start in landscape mode
2. Use file explorer with the Swype keyboard open to launch Pandora.exe by pressing Enter.

Then the keyboard was available to enter login info and configure Pandora.

Works on the QVGA screen, but the font is about a 0.5 in size and you need reading glasses to use it effectively.

But it does work, so thanks to all!
