I know there are a few options out there for WM and Mac syncing, but need to know which ones work reliably with the Diamond for Calendars, Contacts. Pics, music and video would be good too.
Is The Missing Sync the best to get in this respect and has anyone tested with the Diamond ?
cheers in advance.

If anyone has a Diamond and a MacBook Pro, can you let me know if the Internet Sharing with PAN Bluetooth works and is reliable?
My current Hermes has a bad latency issue which seems to affect a lot of WM devices when tethered with the MacBook Pro / Airs.
Thanks

Will give it a go later in the week if I get my Diamond ok on Weds. Mind you, will be fun being a new WM user trying to get it to work ;-)
Its a feature I'd like to be able to use.

Been having real issues with both SyncMate and Missing Sync.
Both do not sync correctly... I usually sync just one group out of Address Book (not the whole thing) and keep that up to date. 1st time I sync it works, subsequent times it insists on syncing all my contacts.
Calendar is also a bit flakey.
Running Mac OS X 10.5.4
Mark Space do not seem to warrant any pre sales support either so are of no help at all. Been waiting 3 days for a reply to my questions :mad:

Missing Sync does not work well.
Pictures of contacts are partly corrupt.
TF3D starts new, if i add a new favorite with some contacts.
Then i must delete the picture from this contact and add a new one, then TF3d will work.

First time, i sync the PDA with Missing Sync, in the options i switch on the button "MAC overwrites PDA". Then sync, then switch off the button and sync again. So it works at mine.

I am using Missing Sync WM 4.0.3 with Mac OS 10.5.4 and it is working fine but I have no picture attached to the contacts.
The first-time sync procedure I usually use is the following:
- launch iSync from the "Application" folder;
- reset the sync history in the iSync > Preferences menu;
- close iSync;
- launch Missing Sync WM;
- for each syncing plugin you need to use, select "Mac overrides Device", click "Debugging options" and then "Reset sync history";
- logout from your user session and login back again;
- connect your device as explained in the Missing Sync manual;
- enable detailed logging in Missing Sync preferences and display the log;
... then be very very careful ;-)
* click the "Sync" button at the top or at the bottom of the main Missing Sync window.
* some of the items selected for syncing will sync and some will not (look at the log during the syncing process). *Disable* the "Mac overrides Device" options for the successfully synced items. Repeat the two stared "*" steps until all the item are successfully synced...
- further synchronizations should run flawlessly.
Hope this helps... (be patient and good luck ;-)
[You may also want to sync a second Mac with your device but the procedure is a bit different and a bit more complex.]

syncmate is great. It does what it is suppose to do (I've only tried contacts).
I've used only USB sync don't know if WIFI works.

Syncmate is also working for e, strangely enough only via the Wifi - Sync option, not via the USB cable (but i prefer the wireless link anyways).
You should be aware, that you have to install the syncmate - driver on your phone, or no connection will be possible

I also had the problem that syncmate did not recognize my device over usb. Then I changed the settings in start->settings->connections->USBtoPC->Enable advanced network functionallity to yes
an then it worked fine.
But I also prefer the wireless connection :)

Yep, I use that too... Just so you know, if you just want to copy files, Mount as a hard disk on the Mac and it copied much quicker.

Just bought the Diamond, after using Polaris for a while.
On a MacBook, using Missing Sync, I was able to get all the contacts to the Diamond.
However, a few things remain unsolved, maybe some of you can help out:
1. If I add more than one phone number per contact, and i label them "custom"or "other" on the mac, they will not show on the phone. I installed Inesoft Address Book and edited them on the phone, but most likely, they'll get messed up again at the next sync.
2. Any way to get the messages from the Polaris to the Diamond? Got them successfully from the Polaris to the Mac, anyway to move them to the Diamond now?
Please drop a line here if you have an idea of how to fix these. Many thanks.

I had the same problem with Syncmate, so I think that is a Mac->WM problem.
If anyone have a solution... please answer us!http://forum.xda-developers.com/images/icons/icon12.gif

I posted this over @ the Syncmate forum but hoping someone can help me here!
I am having a similar problem with my i-mate 8502 (which runs WM6.1) and MB Aluminum running OS X 10.5.5. I am trying to get Internet Sharing via USB to work.
The MB is only a week old...
I installed SyncMate and it installed properly on my i-mate (there is a little icon on the Today screen).
When I connect the i-mate to the MB via USB, I get the USB icon that says 'Connecting'. If I mount the WM device, I see its files (both internal and on the memory card). So connectivity is working fine.
I cannot get the Internet Sharing to work. Before I launch the "Internet Sharing" application on the i-mate, I see the two arrows in the WM6.1 menu bar indicating there is connection. At this point if I check in Systems Preferences -> Network, I see a "Windows Device" that is active (green). The problem here is that the IP address always seems "stuck" at 169.254.2.2 which I don't believe is a proper IP address from my carrier. Renewing this IP has no change. At this point if I launch a browser, it fails to connect to an Internet.
Once I launch the Internet Sharing application on the i-mate and click connect (yes, it is set to USB and my carrier), it kills the connection between the i-mate and MB (the Windows Device connection turns to red).
I have tried playing Activesync (tried it both with Connections set to Sync via USB and unchecked).
I'm not sure what to do anymore?!? I really want/need this to work
Oh by the way, I also tried this on a Samsung Epix (also WM6.1) with just Wifi enabled and it behaves the same (again it doesn't get the correct DHCP, which I know should be in the range of 192.169.1.x from my router). HELP!

A lot of time and effort goes into Missing Sync. I'm sure the developers would rather you show your appreciation by paying for it.

I sync my Address Book and Calenders with Google, then on my Diamond I set up Active Sync and use the Google Exchange settings and sync my Calender and Contacts.
I use doubleTwist to sync music and photo's... much more reliable then Missing Sync, SyncMate or PocketMac.
http://www.doubletwist.com/dt/Home/Index.dt
And instead of Media Crapper Mobile, or other crappy media players, I use http://www.kinoma.com/play/
Much better.

169.254.2.2 is the IP that your computer uses when talking to your phone over USB. With this connection, the phone uses the IP of 169.254.2.1. This is because they have created their own network between them, and it uses a different set of numbers.
The SyncMate internet sharing is only for using your Mac's internet on your phone.
However, it's possible to let your Mac use the internet that your phone can get (over WiFi or your mobile signal) and you will need this app: ISC Control.
I made a post about it here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=3699037&postcount=5
The app is available here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=377047

Hi
I faced the same problem a month ago, luckily I found syncmate
u can use the free version to sync the contacts and the calender only (which is reasonable)
and u need to disable ur firewall in order to establish ur first connection
Enjoy
