All,

I have a Diamond locked to Orange (no customisation) and have had various discussions about unlocking it (before the 3 months standard period of waiting) Has anyone else tried to do this with any success? I have paid Nextgenserver.com for an 'any htc, any network unlock code but so far have not recieved anything. Sudarshan at HTCCode.com claims he can do it also. I will try him if the UK supplier proves no good to their word (3 days and no code so far)

Cheers

Neil

Hi Kabir909,

how long did you have to wait for it to arrive. I ordered from them a few days ago and still wait for any answer?

just wanted to see what the discussion was about.. whether it worked for everyone and how it works in general... find it quite interesting.

the discussion was very similar to the current one, nothing interesting apart from this confirmation. You may find the same comment on dealextreme website in reviews, there is no rocket science - you put a sandwich of two sims into phone and it works straight away.. just click on the link and read ..

I remember Orange unlocking my M5000 for £20 a few years back....
Surely they do the same thing with the Diamond? Anyone know how much?

Do they now do it for free after a certain period of time?

UK I suppose ? I think they would unlock it not for free after a certain period of time 6 or 12 months, but not 100% sure ..

Hi,
I paid money on MobileFixed.com for an unlock code but they sent me files to flash my ROM of the PDA. I then used htccode.com they sent me the unlock code which i typed and it worked. Very smooth transaction and would recommend to anyone wanting to unlock HTC Touch Diamond.

Was that for a UK Orange phone?

I used an unlocker for my Orange phone no problem. Just do a search for "Diamond unlocker" on isohunt. Basically you flash hard SPL, then a ROM, then run an exe on the device. It's tricky to get the last part (because the app closes in a split second before you chose unlock and apply changes, but it works once you get the hang of it).

In fact I've done it on 2 handsets no problem.

Then flash back an OEM Radio ROM. et voila/

I used an unlocker for my OPrange phone no problem. Just do a search for "Diamond unlocker" on isohunt. Basically you flash hard SPL, then a ROM, then run an exe on the device. I am looking for an unlocking system for Orange that uses an unlock code rather than flashing the ROM or radio. That way I can be sure that my 2 year warranty with Orange is unaffected. I have seen both htccodes and unlock-mda do it by this method and I would like to hear from other Orange users how they got on with either of these (or any others that use code to unlock).

that way you need to pay for it - and any rate you still need to flash a doctored RAdio ROM to unlock (even the paid for services AFAIK - that's what happened when I did my M600 and M700).

Your warranty will be voided regardless - there's no way round it. Whether Orange would a) find out or b) really care is another matter.

It's a good reason for not buying from Orange direct. Carphone Warehouse are very "pragmatic".

Guys Olipro's unlocker is instant, send £10 via paypal (a small fee for all of the contributions this guy makes on XDA) and you will then recieve an email with a link direct to your sim unlock app, took about 3 mins!! :D

Link Olipro Unlocker (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=414835)

And yes it works with Orange locked handsets, Mine was locked to orange as it was supplied on my staff account ;)

You do not need to re-flash the ROM if you obtain an unlock code - all you do is when you put the other SIM in it asks you for an unlock code and you put it in. How else do you think the phone companies unlock the phone? That is how it has worked on all my other phones I have legitimately unlocked. The whole point of using an unlock code is that your warrabty is NOT voided.

And there are examples on this forum of people reporting that Orange (and others) have refused warranty claims because there phone has been re-flashed. They find out because when you make a claim you have to send it away for repair first, and the repairer checks!!!

And finally it makes no difference where you buy an Orange phone from (I got mine from dialaphone, who are part of phones4u) orange still have to suuply the unlock code (unless you can get somebody else to find it)

Ok found out a bit more that may be useful to all UK Orange users. Once you have been with Orange for more than 3 months they will sell you the unlock key for £20. So you have a choice

use unlocking system that reflashes radio and probably voids warranty cost £10 to £15.

try to get unlock code from unofficial source - 25Euro = £20

or pay orange £20 and get a code that I know will work and keep my warranty

Given that if I lose the warranty and the phone goes wrong (and from these forums that is not unusual) it will cost me over £300 for another one I think this decision is a no-brainer!

My only problem is that I have not been with Orange for more than 3 months and I need my phone unlocked sooner. But it may be useful for others out there like me who thinks paying a bit more and being safe is the best way with a £300 phone!

Final bit of useful information is that Orange do not generate the unlock code themselves - they have to apply to HTC and that can take up to 10 days to get.

looks like you have paid for the unlock software instead of codes. i have paid for the software which was cheaper and got it done less than 5 mins, they got the cheapest online prices.

didnt you read the description before ordering, stop going around and blaming ppl when it is your fault.

i also get the diamond pro raphael codes for 18 GBP from www.mobilefixed.com

they now unlock diamond pro raphael for 18 gbp (codes)

A bit scarry but it worked for me too. Credit to whoever developed this software - much appreciated.

PS - I used HardSPL 1.24 instead of the 1.40 from the downlod.
