Do certain radios only work in certain countries??

Hi Guys,

Newbie (well, at flashing), from Australia.

Have the TyTnII, on the 3 (Hutch) network.

Want to do some mods, but like ta ask a few questions (that I did search for but didnt find answer)

I gather I can use almost any ROM? The ROM will have the OS and applications to be installed?

What about radio? can I use any of the radios (Nikki, etc) in Australia, or are some only for certain countries??

I understand from some posts that certain ROM's work best with certain radios.

My main problem, since flashing with the 3 Win 6.1, the GPS iunder TomTom takes a LOT longer to get initial fix. Sometimes 5 to 10 minutes :(

Have installed Hard DPL and it works ok :-)

My findings;
Malaysia Celcom 3G network carrier : Some USSD command are not supported.
Niki Radio 1.65.24.36 = didnt support *122*16digit# command
All neon radio OK.
I also tried one radio for MY MAXIS 3G & didnt support *122# but didnt remember which version. I already check with pof & he confirms it.:cool:

So for AUS, maybe u better check closely.

I don't get it,... r u sure that its not rom-radio incompatible related??? but only radio related???

as far as roms go.....(it doesnt matter which country you are in...a ROM is a ROM)
UNLESS the rom comes with a radio....in that case your network provider may have issues with that particular radio...
if the ROM you flash comes without a radio then you have to see the suggested radios that the "cook" reccomends and try each one untill you find the radio that best suits you and your "network provider" mainly signal strength and 3G internet speed differ....

ofcourse i prefer always being CID unlocked before attempting to flash a radio...

p.s i played with a couple of radios untill i found the right one for me :D
