Hi all,

since I find the Actionscreen feature from the Touch very useful, i thought i'd try to port it to VGA.

With the help of l3v5y in the Prophet forum (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=366729) I figured out everything to do was to resize the graphics and change some RegKeys.
The only thing I couldn't change was the font size, so this is a bit tiny...

I also included the Action Screen in TFlo 3D's Home menu on the left softkey, how it's stated here by mooooooa (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=404982)

I built two cabs one English and one german (since I am from Germany). Other languages can be easily done by editing the corresponding RegKeys.

Since I got a couple of PMs asking how I mapped Wifi Toggle to the right softkey, I'll share it here:

To do your own Localization just download the English version and the Locale Reg and translate the Values. Keep in mind that the 5 spaces before each value are for positioning, since the app is badly hardcoded for 320x240 resolution.

Thanks the idea of lele.d I uploaded a new German Version. This one cannot be localized through the reg files since the RegValues are in fact empty and the text is included in the graphics.

So give me some time and I'll do the available localisations, or if anyone of you would...

Also in the new Cabs there is the MMSLauncher.exe linked to the MMS button, since the original key just started an SMS. Also thanks to lele.d.

I tried to install this one on my Diamond with the original Swedish ROM. But when I press the 'NEW' button it says that it can't start the application due to problem either with the certification. Or the program isn't signed. It also says that it could be some files missing.



My bad. It just didn't work when installed on the 'memory card'.

Happened to me the first time.
This is because I put the text links directly into the background.
You need to edit all 15 images by writing the text and in the registry keys under the heading "Name" of App you must leave the field empty.

As mentioned in the first post, localisation through reg files only works with the small font, since the big font has to be integrated in the graphics.

You should use normal enblish with your reg (no big font) or edit the graphics to match your lang.

Sorry to bother you again, but i'd like to do some adjustments. I'll do them myself, but I need some help - I have no idea how to edit the graphics. Expanding the .cab file just gives me a bunch of files that I can't use :)

Hi,

You need to extract files from the cab.

Either install the cab to your Diamond and copy the files back to your PC or open them to extract the graphics files via the excellent free MSCEInf.exe.

If you haven't got Photoshop, Photofiltre is an excellent free graphics editor which I use extensively these days as it's so quick and easy.

Use it to add the Text ttles you require e.g. New SMS for each relevant pciture.

Save each file over the exiting old one and recompile into a cab ready to install.

I just wanted to edit the app a little, change the looks. This is what I made so far, using the beautiful png's available here on xda-dev forums. I might make more designs, with different icons and see which looks the best. It's not finished yet, and it won't be for the next two days (busy in work), but i'll post the final version once it's done.

Found the error. You have to install the program in the ram not in the internal memory. Now everything is working fine.

I have installed the english cab. First I got the same error as you - just a blank screen. But I deinstalled and reinstalled the application, now into the internal ram, not the "external flash", like ppcuser1287 described in his previous post. Now it works like a charm.

Don't know why this makes any difference. :confused:

Hi..very nice work! I like that optic. But Do not understand how to integrate the changed psd in the cab? (I changed the lang to german). How can I do that? Do I have to convert the psd?

It's little more complicated, i'm afraid.

You have to manually cut out every button (both in highlighted & pressed condition, the dimensions are 480x80). Once you have those 14 images, you need one more - the whole image with highlight&pressed effects removed (hmm, i didn't save the psd in that way - but you should be able to simply remove the text effects). Then save the whole image (15th image).

All these images have to be saved sa .bmp, so you can run them through a tool posted in this thread - to convert them into .brn file.

Finally, either rebuild the .cab file with new .brn files or simply copy the .brn files into /Windows/ directory on your Diamond, to overwrite the originals.

Sorry, I don't think there is an easier way :)

I think they already exist inside the _manila files ....
So Its just how to change TouchFlo to use them... and they are on the way to make a manila tool....

Looks like a very cool feature! But I get the following error when I press the New button:

"The file HTCActionScreen cannot be opened. Either it is not signed with a trusted certificate, or one of its components cannot be found".

I installed the english cab from the first page of this thread. Am I missing something? :confused:

All 14 button-images and the background-image do have the right german text and in the registry the "name"-field of each app is also empty.
So where is the mistake??

Hi guys,

sorry for the delay, but I really got little time for the AS.

The version is nearly complete, including a small app by raiisak to toggle wifi, the possibility to install to internal storage (at least the images) and a config util to change backgrounds according to your lang and setting the softkeys.

Concerning MMS: I havent found a proper icon, but with the second app
<spoiler>which makes easy theming possible</spoiler>
that will be possible.

So please be patient, I think I'll release the new "Raphael AS" tomorrow.

You have to edit the psd file according to your language, save them as bmp, convert them to brn and put them to the install folder. Just works with the new Raphael version.

Okhay.. i have a problem.. the "DIAL A NUMBER or SELECT A TASK" text is visible on the top of the page.. and i can not get the text below the icons.. tried changing the language... The Actionscreen is a standalone program from HTC which has nothing to to with TF3D. It was introduced with the Touch I think.

I just customized it with some nice graphics.

I just found out, its in the mui file, which is for English. since I got a german Rom I don't see the text.

My curiosity : how can i change this file??? (for future customization...)

Two ways:
-edit the psd file and contained in the zip in the first post convert to brn
-convert the brn to bmp, edit it andd covert back to brn

I just found out, its in the mui file, which is for English. since I got a german Rom I don't see the text.

I'll try and edit the mui to remove the text.

metti il file nella cartella di installazione ...programmi\actionscreen
poi vai in programmi, settingactionscreen, scegli lingua Italian, soft reset e funziona

put this filein ...programs\actionscreen
then go in programs, start settingactionscreen, chose language Italian, soft reset and it's ok.

Hi Folks! A question...I've installed Lele Italian Version (first in Internal Memory then, after uninstalling, in Device Memory). But I can't find the icon of the program....I can uninstall it (...-> remove programs) but I can't launch it. HTC Rom 1.93 and (is this the issue?) Spb Shell & Spb suite installed.

Mr. Niccolo, I've made this resize for my OMNIA.
It work fine except "Favourite" because the original program links to a file Manila.
In next days I'll try to fix that one too.

i see the icons, they work fine, but it doesnt say below, what is what. I mean, i have figured by now, but it looks strange. any suggestions?

Another issue is to remove the sentence "Dial phone number or select a task below:" above the screen, how do we do it? So far no luck..

Go to Start/Programs/ActionScreen Options and select a language other than "No text"

To edit the links, go to first post and read the posts linked there. Its all done in the registry.
to remove the text please delete HTCActionScreen.exe.409.mui in the Windows folder.

Just use search and look for bluetooth toggle. You'll find very much, even with bt discoverable...

Thanks Slow23, this is fantastic! At last I have got back some of the functionality of my little ELF without getting rid of Touch Flo3D : )

In order to tailor things to my exact requirements, I've changed a couple of registry entries to allow me to create a new MMS instead of Web Search, and to toggle bluetooth on and off (using BTOnOff.exe, available at www.freewarepocketpc.net) instead of web favourites, but I'm having difficulty changing the BackGroundEnglish PSD containted in the Raphael ZIP on page one. I've managed to change the text below each icon, but editing the icons themselves is way beyond me (LOL!). Also, I haven't got a clue how to save my edited PSD file as a .brn. Could anyone help Mr Stupid here?

Just in case anyone else wants to edit their registry settings in a similar way, for MMS, under HKEY\LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Biotouch\ActionScreen\ APP_6, I changed "Param" to "-new" and "Path" to "\windows\tmail.exe" (no quotations). For Bluetooth toggling I placed BTOnOff.exe in Program Files\ActionScreen and then under HKEY\LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Biotouch\ActionScreen\ APP_7 I removed the text under "Param" and changed "path" to \Program Files\Actionscreen\BTOnOff.exe

You need to reboot for the changes to take effect. With regard to new MMS functionality, this doesn't take you straight into a new MMS, but it does take you to an account selection page where MMS is listed. Still, two key presses is better than 11ty million IMHO ; )

Any help RE editing the icons in the PSD file would be greatly appreciated, as would learning how to save the result as a .brn file....

EDIT Sorry, just discovered Bmp2BRN here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=1466941&postcount=41. Would still love an artist to make a Bluetooth Toggle and MMS icon though ; )

It would be great to have an option to press the "action" key and have a variety of app icons to quickly choose from (much like the new start menu in wm6.5), along with the customization of having which ones you will actually use...
