if u want to change the build of ur ROM, u should port the xip n sys of that particular build.

Read this. (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=389772&highlight=port) I wrote it for the Herald, but it applies to your phone, too. (At least the SYS part does. I'm not 100% sure about the XIP part being the same.)

Hex edit anyone? dude just a hint a few people have given you links to what you need no one going to spoon feed you, great information was given

That works but it appears all the new guys in the Kaiser Forum don't like to search anymore and like to be spoon fed.

I have been using your method for awhile and it works fine....

wow, didn't think that there would be so much commotion over one question. apparently nobody here has ever been a newb before

@austinsync: how do we use hexedit to change the build?

Hi mbarvian,

If you simply need to change the build version (I assume the one shown in the HTC startup), look for the tool PagePool_Patcher_v1.4.3.

You can also change the version in mxipupdate_OEMVERSION_100.provxml.

You can also change the OS version by porting the SYS and XIP (already mentioned somewhere in this thread).

ok, just dump the diamond ROM with build number 19588. port the SYS and XIP from this, and the build numbers will change automatically.

NO
1. dump it, it is Diamond's ROM, u CAN NOT flash it to kaiser
2. PORT the XIP n SYS (assuming u already know this part, but i doubt it :))
3. flash newly ported ROM

THere are a few thread on how to port a ROM. Unfortunately it appears they all are for other devices that are porting the Kaiser ROM. I am on my way out the door but I will try to make a tutorial for you later tonight.

If someone else has the time to show him how to properly PORT a rom it would be great. Though the other threads are helpful they always don't work as easy for the Kaiser as they do for other devices.

I also plan on making tutorials on how to change the icons in a ROM at some time when I get the chance.

ryncppr, that would be amazing :D

thank you so much for your time and support :)

if you do, I think it would be a big help to the newbs in the Kaiser community (especially myself)!

please pm me if you do with the link

thanks again

I agree that this would be great, and I would greatly appreciate and applaud your effort. I believe I am one of many that would do their best to be intelligent sponges and soak up your knowledge and expertise and put it to good personal use.

Gosh, give the guy a chance to fulfill his generous offer - 24 to 48 hours of patience would be appropriate, I think.

Ok guys, I have not forgot about you I promise.... I am having issues right now for some reason as I am completely porting the SYS from the Touch DIamond ROm. OS,OSFiles, Shell, .VM, changing the .VM with G'Reloc but for some reason the build # is not changing....WHY I HAVE NO IDEA

ANyone?????

In a nutshell I am taking the Touch ROM SYS and replacing only the OS, OSFIles, SHell, .VM folders. THen I am running G'Reloc and entering the proper values. When I cook the rom for some reason it is not changing the build any idea.

I also have used BuildOS+packageTools4.b3 in order to do a XIP port??? I am clueless. I used to do this no problem but for some reason it is not working now???

OK, so here are the steps I have taken:

1. Dump the Diamond ROM with build 19588
2. Copy and Replace MSXIPKernel and MSXIPKernelLTK from Files and Modules to ROM/XIP
3. Copy .VM from old SYS and place replace it in new SYS
4. Copy shell32.exe and shellres.dll from old SYS and replace it in new SYS
5. Replace old SYS with new SYS is C:\kaiserkitchen

However, now, when I flash this ROM, I can't get past the boot screen, any suggestions?

Dear Lord!!

I suggest you go through (entire, I repeat, ENTIRE) this thread and each content as a start: G.W.E.N.I, which htctouchp had posted a few posts above

Then check this for porting guide: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=379598

Thank you ababrekar, I'll try that and post the results here

:mad:I am a noob but for cryin out loud, how many times must the same question be asked, after two months of reading i built my rom only asking 2 questions. All the answers are available on these threads, it just takes a bit of time and effort. If you don't understand what the mods and senior memmbers are advising maybe you shouldn't be attempting to cook! Give up and download a pre-cooked rom..:mad:

Hey, I don't know if that was directed at me or not, but I've been reading all over the place figuring things out as well. I've already built quite a few ROM's for myself without problems. I've been using the kaiserkitchen for all of it, but now I've been trying things out "the old way" just to see how and why things work. Hopefully to make me a better cook. Unfortunately, with porting ROMs most of the instructions are for porting ROMs (mainly Kasier ROMs) to other devices, nothing explicitly for porting to the Kaiser. Yes, I've been reading the Hermes forums, Polaris forums, and as many wikis and tuts that I can, piecing the information together to make it work for the Kaiser. I've downloaded other cooked ROMs and broke them down to see how the chef went about doing things. My question was to simply inquire if mbarvian had figured out what the problem with his ROM was. I fixed my problem, I was just curious as if his problem was the same or similar (I copied over the kaiser .vm then G'reloced it with a different SYS, 'nuff said). Just some information to help with cooking (like, "rom stuck at splash screen" --> Could be xxxx missing in SYS. Or, used wrong G'reloc value., etc.). I was actually thinking about adding to the wiki, so I would like to verify some of my information in case I decide to do so.

BTW: Here's a post with a little more information concerning porting ROMs. Specifically, for the Kaiser.
