I have tried to flash my elf but.. in second step i got my white screen and thats it.. nothing is happening.... on my pc it ask me for new hardware found.. and thats it.. nothing is happening.. I have to restart my elf.. then i proside for 3ed step but when i proside there screen go all red blue and white with origanal ipl and spl writen on top....

followed each step from 1 2 3... now i getting ERROR 270( Image file currpted) i dont know how to get over it now..

till now i would have hard rested my phone 15 times now.. hope now this much hard reset do any thing to my phone....

please help man.. feeling very down now..

Error 270 means your phone is still CID locked.

Did you get the white screen at all when running the application before flashing?

These may be the same steps that Aman gave you, but just make sure you have them covered:

1) Do hard reset
2) Remove SIM/memory card
3) Install Cert/EnableRapi
4) Do soft reset (not hard reset!!)
5) Run the USPL installer
6) Wait for white screen
7) Run Rom Update Utlity to update your USPL

u MUST run the ROM updateutility when u get white screen. when u get white screen, thats the only time u can flash the USPL.

Finally i could upgrade, after several attempts, and now i have the last IPL and USPL on my Elfin. I don't know if it is so but I noticed that after a bad attempt it was necessary to reload enablerapi and certspcs, maybe because of the several softreset? I also updated the radio.
Now as I am getting more confident due to the several trials i did, i would like to try to flash a new rom, maybe with some nice software cooked in, or maybe i should wait until there is a rom for my Elfin with manilla cooked in. I was following that thread and this interface looks so nice. Any suggestions? I would also like to know if there is a way to backup the whole memory, so that i don't have to reload program after program. I am currently using the standard sprite backup, but i guess it does not back up everything.

PS: first u have to enable rapi as u are running a stock ROM. and it would be better for u to read the Sticky Rollup thread before u do anything with the phone.

ok guys, we have managed to dump the SPL 2.81 :D
thanks to amelsfort for his patience. but this SPL is very old, even older than SPL 2.20 :D. so i guess, we don't need to patch it for CID unlocking and we don't even need to try IPL 2.81.

u can use the latest IPL/USPL 2.27/2.28. and u have to follow all the instructions mentioned in the thread (incuding the ones for cert specs and rapi).

I tried reinstalling ActiveSync, changing the USB Ports and so on...But ActiveSync simply fails to connect to ELF Touch when its in white screen.

how do I get the phone to connect to Active Synch in White screen?

the thing to remember is that when in the 3rd step of elf-uspl, Active Sync wouldnot be green, just go ahead and flash the rom. Even though it says the current rom as blank! This was the mistake I was doing, as I was afraid of bircking my phone and hence wrongly thought that I shudnt proceed beyond this point.

Did you run the elf-uspl.exe or the RomUpdateUtility.exe first?

You're supposed to run the elf-uspl.exe, wait for white screen, and then run the ROMUpdateUtility...

If you follow htctouchp's instructions there should be no problem.

before upgrading the same sim card is working fine....

no, its not necessary but advisable as it improves the speed and stability.

ELF IPL 1.17.0002 & USPL 1.17.0000
This is a newer version of USPL for Elf (based on SPL 1.17.0000) for CID unlocking on similar lines of pof's Elf_USPL based on Elf SPL 1.11.0000.

Credits:
1. pof: the name says it all ;)
2. ayyu3m: first person to test new USPL for me coz i dont have an Elf.

Note:
1. Should be used only on Elf with IPL 1.1X.XXX2. Some Elf owners have been using USPL 1.11.0000 with IPL 2.2X.XXX2 already without any problem. If that is the case, this USPL should work for those IPLs as well, but i can not guarantee.
2. Keep a shipped ROM for your phone in case of emergency.
3. If you are already using patched SPL 1.11.0000, then you can just run the romupdateutility.exe inside RUU folder to flash this SPL.
4. As it is based upon Elf_USPL, 'rapi' should be enabled before using it.
5. Check post 2 for USPL 1.19.0000, post 3 for USPL 2.26.0000 and post 4 for USPL 2.28.0000.

Don't hold me responsible if something goes wrong :D

I've been reading this thread for the past couple of days and finally felt confortable to flash the latest IPL/USPL. On my first attempt I got the 270 error that a few have reported but on the second try it went smooth. Didn't have to hard reset, so this was plus since I didn't want to reconfigure everything.

this is my original device info:

IPL : 2.24.0002 now 2.27
SPL : 2.24.0000 now uspl 2.28

i've did a big mistake...
I've used the olipov program from this tread

and flashed it to an elfin :-(

Now if the elfin starts only the splash screen is shown and the device powers off.

This means that you have a CID unlocked phone! Non_Bootable, BUT luckily CID_Unlocked!
So after entering tricolor screen
update the SPL with the right one from here:

After this update you should have something like this:
IPL 2.26.0002
SPL 2.26.0000

This is V2 of USPL 2.28 which has an extra feature (apart from the normal CID unlocking features etc) that you can flash ROM of any size now even below 50 MB using RUU. Yes, this USPL V2 removes the restriction of 50 MB size of ROM for normal RUU and that means the OS.NB doesn't need to be hexed if it is below 50 MB and one doesn't need to flash using SD card in order to gain the extra space.

BIG thanks to cmonex for enabling this feature. Enjoy!

i bought HTC Elfin from china urumqi.........
urumqi is not my home town its shihezi which is 2H from urumqi
i successfully unlocked cid and upgraded it with 2.27/2.28 IPL and SPL and flash a english windows but suddenly after i unlocked it i looses all of the network signels.....
i tried a lot of methods like change rom......upgrade radio.....again unlock.........reload my custom rom i do all than i plan to go back to urumqi(the city i bought from) to ask the coustomer service center....but when i reached that city it got all of the signels and no prob to tell them.............
i have tried other sim cards also but still no effect
***my brother buy the same elfin from same shop and he unlock by the same method and his elfin hav"nt any signel problems***
any kind of help will be appreciated

No harm was done!
Follow Aman's steps(for both Elf and Elfin):

1. hard reset the phone
2. install cert_spcs.cab
3. install enablerapi.cab
4. power off and power on (Don't reset with stylus)
5. remove SD card and SIM card
6. connect phone to PC, make sure Activesync is working
7. unzip USPL_2.28.0000.ZIP to C: drive
8. unzip IPL_2.27_USPL_2.28.ZIP
9. copy nbh file from IPL_2.27_USPL_2.28.ZIP and replace the nbh file in RUU folder of USPL_2.28.0000
10. run elf-uspl.exe and follow on-screen instructions

I had managed to update it successfuly.

Then for kicks, i tried to flash from the stock ROM to the TESSv3 rom, then the problem came back. I also tried dsixda's 4.0b, same thing.

1. Put your device in bootloader mode by pressing the power button and the camera button simultaneous. Then press the reset button with your stylus and release the keys.
2. When in bootloader mode flash an original rom.

But we need more people who actually read the stickies and do the searching on their own.

3.07 IPL/SPL is working fine on my Elf, but I had problem with the new Elfin 3.X rom XIP that kept me stuck on smart mobility screen. Maybe that's what you're facing ?

I fixed it by cooking a working nk.exe from another XIP.

u could try mine or Ameet's UCE. both are smaller than 50 MB. i didn't change the original version numbers of the SPLs.
3.07 is working well for me and a friend of mine over here. we have no issues as such.

Download Uspl 2.28 from post# 4, unzip it > find the Ruu folder > replace the .nbh there with the one you have > run the rom update utility and enjoy a moment of fear before you get the congratulations message.
Of course don't forget to read the instructions given in this thread before any action ;)

well if dont want to upgrade, u can choose to stay with current ipl and spl
if u want to upgrade just look at the rom provider
some only need ipl and spl 2.26
with ipl spl 2.28 v2 your device will be more compatible with more rom
buth with ipl and spl 3.07 your device will be compatible with ALL rom
about blue rom... our TESS rom is blue on the surface (yup only on the surface lol)... but than again its all subjectively your choice ;)

well, if it is not working for u then may be ur elf is an old device. better stick to ipl/spl 2.27/2.28

hspl mean's write protected spl mean's when u use ruu software it will not overwrite the spl to newer version.

your Elf might be an old device then. better stick to old IPL/SPL. if possible, try upgrading the SPL alone keeping IPL to some old version.

i've said this before also that for some Elfs new IPLs may not work, so in that case it is better to try new SPL with old IPL versions. this is another example for all the guys with Elfs.

I tried with IPL 2.7, 3.07. 3.10 all downloaded from this thread. Now I don't know what is the problem.

First make sure your device is application Unlocked. By installing EnableRapi.Cab (http://forum.xda-developers.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=92913&d=1213560044) & Cert_SPC.Cab (http://forum.xda-developers.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=92914&d=1213560044) on your device, then reboot the phone.
Take out MicroSD card from Slot.

Watch Screen and Press Enter When Asked.
Screen should Jump to White on Phone and on PC Flashing Loading Bar will Show.
Stuck in Black Ducky Loading Screen?, check Active Sync Connection or Do a hard reset on Phone first. But be sure to do the last Actual Flashing in White Screen. Sometimes this needs a few tries to go through white screen.
Done.

For users that have IPL 1.1X series


Steps below are all recommended to remove Micro SD card.

At this point you do not to install CertSPC.cab & EnableRapi.Cab
Done


Unless you are familiar with these processes do not try them, and wait for more confirms.

You can also update the IPL&USPL to 2.26 together in one go if you are already using the USPL 1.17.0000 or USPL 1.19.0000. You can also update the IPL&USPL to 2.26 together in one go if you are already using the USPL 1.17.0000 or USPL 1.19.0000. This has been tested by ChiemY(http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=2454555&postcount=44). So,if you are willing to upgrade together, download the ELF_IPL-USPL_2.26.0000.zip file and run the romupdateutility.exe.

Ah, been reading through the forums the past couple days and cannot figure out what the problem is!

Decided to update spl to 3.07cmon kept the 2.26 ipl on my elf, which of course bricked my device to boot loop on the "smart mobility" screen. I've tried going through the bootloader to flash a lower ipl to try and find the right combination to allow my device to run without success. (in bootloader the original ipl/spl remain)

EDIT 06/09/08: Directly upgrading IPL/USPL in one go may or may not work for all of Elf owners (if the Elf is pre-release or old one). If your phone (Elf only) is stuck at Smart mobility screen with IPL 2.26, SPL 2.26, try downgrading the IPL to 1.19 or 1.17."

I've also tried the snoopypro/mtty method with no success to even find my cid/model number to flash an original shipped rom, which prohibits the goldcard method as well.

It seemed other people were having the same issue but no certain answer has found to fix the issue.. then again i am a noob so i might have misread :D

yes, it only changes SPL. if the current IPL/SPL combination is working great for u, there is no need to change the IPL.

Can I use SSPL (white screen method using elf-uspl.exe) to flash IPL and USPL all at once?

Let me explain, currently I have 3.10 IPL and HSPL, but I'm having some issues on my Elf, so I want to try 3.07.
Now I have the 3.07 HSPL from here (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=2906450&postcount=1). It includes the white screen tools.
I also have the nbh with 3.07 IPL/USPL from this thread.

But everywhere I read the white screen method is only used to flash one thing at a time. Thus the question: can I just replace the nbh in the folder and flash 3,07 IPL+USPL all at once?

If the answer is no: can anybody send me the 3.07 IPL separately? (I have no access to mediafire, where the link in the wiki points at... :()

Probably you need to update your SPL as well, you can find it in the first page of this thread.

I've got a question.
I've installed IPL_3.10 USPL_310 on my elfin.
I've got some trouble with the touch screen (It seems that there is humidity between LCD and touch sreen) and I need to send my phone to htc.
Do I have to reinstall the original IPL/USPL addition to the original Rom?
I've bought my elfin in April 2008, wich uspl should be installed?

When I'm going to flash SPL from 1.17 to 2.27, following the instructions,
the screen doesn't become BLANK, but it shows me the three colours (bootloader mode) screen....

I brake the flashing procedure because my screen wasn't blank...


Should I go on flashing it in this way, or maybe I should retry untill the screen turns blank?


EDIT: Just retryied it... It works correctly...;)
Then i flash again my device with IPL/SPL 3.07... SUCCESSFULLY! :)

i flashed the latest ipl 3.10cmon spl3.10 cmon and the new original shipped rom wm6.1 (3.10wwe from htc asia). If i would flash a new cooked rom like the onyx 22/12/2008 o another based on the latest original rom it needed to reflash for the second time the latest ipl 3.10 and spl 3.10 or only the cooked rom?

i've d'loaded the latest IPL & SPL from Post#5

1. Turns out IPL 3.10 is actually 3.07 as reported by RUU while attempting to update.

2. Please inform whether its really advisable to upgrade IPL/SPL from my existing 2.27/2.28 to latest 3.10 if i'm not planning a ROM upgrade atm.
I'm not facing problems though sometimes (1 out of 5) when i reboot, i get a 'No Sim Present' error. Rebooting again usually works. So hoping new IPL/SPL may solve this?!

In continuation to above previous post,

1. Took a deep breath and went ahead with the upgrade! (Both IPL/SPL to 3.10)
The IPL 3.10 although showed as 3.07 in the RUU, after update showed correctly as 3.10 on the phone. Wonder why the controversy!

2. After update, i feel booting takes a tad bit longer and similarly the phone is a tad bit sluggish. Particularly while clicking on the X button, the HTC task manager lazily opens its drop down jaw!.....Maybe its just a feeling i have..and no other problems so far.

3. The 'No Sim Present problem as mentioned in my above previous post seems to have corrected. Booted 5 times in a row without it. So alls well i guess :)

continued from above!...Been several hours now and i've noticed a marked improvement in Device Audio!

I confirm updating IPL/SPL from 2.27/2.28 to 3.10 has improved the tone of audio on my Elfin. (Plays sharper, clearer). Even the notification sounds, ringtones play a tone better. No illusion here, I'm certain!
Also the 3rd party "SRS WOW HD" plugin performs noticeably better - The presets are much more distinguishable! Anybody else found this?!
