Hello all kaiser community, after i have my Garmin.DK.1, then i'll try my luck for my second ROM for kaiser,.

This is my second ROM for kaiser, so i named it Garmin.DK.2 and updated to Garmin.DK.2.1 and the final version is Garmin.DK.2.FINAL

Hi!

Garmin The only thing about the ICONs is that sometimes we get confused which are folders/applications...

If it is fixed this ROM will be much better.

If not, then It will be a PREMIUM ROM anyway 'cause we know you do a excellent job.

I'm in the same boat as you, to get around it i just unplug my comp from network and use 'internet sharing' on my kaiser and reload the page.

I cannot seem to find the file explorer in your ROM from teh screen shot. I need to locate it so I can then get my Total Command to take over.

Look in the start menu when its uploaded. Most cookers add it there lately.:D

Pretty sure he just doesn't want people taking his icons and putting them in their own roms without his permission. Kinda like every other chef feels about things that are specific to their rom. Perhaps copyrighted wasn't the most appropriate word, but i'm pretty sure most people got the point.

My understanding is that the fix for skype and arabizer is what slows down the rom a little. My guess is that you'll see a similar slowdown to what DK.1 and DK1.2, which in my mind was insignificant. I ran the more compatible one as i feel compatibility is more important than speed. I can promise you that if there's a way to have the speed and the comp ability that Garmin will be as thrilled as can be to share it with you all.

I'm sure when he gets on (it's only 8am in indonesia) then he'll fix it. You might try relaxing a bit. Stuff like that is what i PM is for. Or talk to a mod if it's REALLY bothering you that much.

Hopefully you will make this work with all TCPMP's - your last ROM only ran the fixed for 6.1 TCPMP. Yet Dutty and also Romeo's ROMs work ok with all TCPMP versions. Maybe you can check with one of them to see what tweak is needed.

Why not just use the version that works? I think there's better things that Garmin could be working on than fixing incompatibilities with OLD software :) Just a thought though.

I couldn't agree with you more. If there is a version of TCPMP that works with this rom use it and quit asking for the cook who is doing this for free! to waist his time to make you happy. I am thankfull for all that he has done and if I were you "bsw11" I would just say thanks for all your work Garmin! Great Rom.

Because there are other versions of TCPMP that work better than the fixed one - speed wise - .81rc1 specifically.

Also just found out that Hyperdragon's new IIIr lite also works just fine. So it would be nice if one of them posted exactly what the fix is so all the burners could have it.

I don't think the issue he's discussing is related to bluetooth. He is asking related to an issue that we both had on another rom. I do not use bluetooth devices, as i don't often have to driver very far. There is definitly a bluetooth related sound issue.

In my quest to figure out why some people were and others were not having issues with the task bar disappearing i believe i may have found a workaround for now. hopefully someone can take what i learned and possibly fix this issue. Now for the point of this post:

When i disabled "advanced networking" in settings/connections/usb to pc, then i do not have any issue with the taskbar disappearing. will some people please confirm my results? I will post this in the other thread as well.

I will not flame you, but here's the answer to yoru question. I think that he had planned on releasing it sooner, and that he's been busy trying to get it out. I am sure when he gets on here again, he'll see your words. He did change the post to XX rather than the 17, yesterday. I think he just got excited to share his next build with you guys. So hold on a little longer, i'm sure it'll be worth it. :)

WOW Garmin your ROM's rock!
I have all my fav. applications going on your other ROM & my phone is still more responsive than out of the box stock!

I did have one issue (dare I say it bug) with the weather bug. (a documented issue here @ xda.) Other than that, the ROM is flawless & super fast! I love it and plan to donate :D

A few side questions.
When using task manager the task bar would disappear on occasion. But I did a hard didn't install the software this time around, problem solved, anyone know of a task manager that works well with this rom? Thanks in advance & keep up the good work!

- Icons changed with GARMIN DK.2 ICON SET !!! (including 3G, G and H logo) - COPYRIGHTED !!!



I like the Icons but I have to admit it is easy to get confused, They would be great if they were folder looking icons with the pic's on top of the folders so you could distinguish between Icons for programs and Folders. That is just my 2 cents. All in all both of your Roms so far have been fun and I can't wait to flash DK-2. Thanks for all the hard work!

maybe you should wait with starting a new thread untill to rom is finished.. only just update the prev thread with what you are doing for next version..
reason for this... now you will have 20+ pages with only posts like "I can't wait" "When is it released" and "where is the link" so when the rom is released you have the 20 first pages with unusefull post and this will also put more presure on you to release it.

I am not disagreeing with any of you but just for your INFO...... Garmin was going to release the rom when he made the thread.....but in the last minute he ran into quite a few bugs on the rom and had to abort the upload.........

so yes it was a mistake but as you all know he tries to perfect his rom for everyone and ran into unfortunate events with the rom..... so please be a little patient and as far as i know i think he is going to release really soon.....

cut him some slack guys..... He is doing this for us to have the best rom possible...... and im actually greatful that he just didnt go ahead and threw the rom with bugs.......

--> When i am playing and tweaking it, while waiting for the connection come back from cutted down, i just found what make the taskbar disapearing for task manager and for wisbar advanced, so i delete the file from 4shared quickly, and start working all over again

B. Arabizer and Skype support, FOUND
--> its not a secret anymore, that to have the skype and arabizer works, we have to use WM6 XIP, just suddenly, my brain think about some tweaking and changing inside SYS folder
--> and it works, so now, for me, WM 6.1, have no problem with Arabizer, nor skype, and didnt need any WM 6 XIP anymore

D. The compression method of RAM
--> This is one of the biggest invention, this ROM, use another way of compression, which make a smoother RAM working

---> RMB was just more than right, the ROM have been uploaded to my private folder, just to link it up, and done
---> Why?
A. Task Manager and Wisbar Fix, FOUND
--> When i am playing and tweaking it, while waiting for the connection come back from cutted down, i just found what make the taskbar disapearing for task manager and for wisbar advanced, so i delete the file from 4shared quickly, and start working all over again

B. Arabizer and Skype support, FOUND
--> its not a secret anymore, that to have the skype and arabizer works, we have to use WM6 XIP, just suddenly, my brain think about some tweaking and changing inside SYS folder
--> and it works, so now, for me, WM 6.1, have no problem with Arabizer, nor skype, and didnt need any WM 6 XIP anymore

D. The compression method of RAM
--> This is one of the biggest invention, this ROM, use another way of compression, which make a smoother RAM working

you go my man.... i'd rather you delay the rom and offer us a great bug free experience than rush it like too many do and leave bugs behind.
lots of us need our phone for work and cannot afford to have a rom full of bugs even though we can't resist trying the new orms (flasher anonymous i hear you say :) )

I never tried your roms since I found SJ's Hyperdragon the best rom to date. But your new announcement got my attention. I really like the look of your work.

I've noticed that everytime I soft reset the phone, both the start menu and the SMS inbox are cleared (in the case of Start Menu, it "resets" to the original menu). I'm pretty much sure that this should be something that could be set on or off (I hardly believe this could be a bug), but I have found no answer yet. I even deleted this Start Clean program in StartUp folder (inside Windows directory) and soft reset again, but it still does the same.

I'd really appreciate any help about how to change or "fix" it.

Beside SMS and MMS issue I am having problem to reduce MMS sind limit to 100k.The only avaiable option is 300k that will be refused by my local provider.
Beside this everything else works fine: iGO,Garmin,TomTom,Youtube Player,Core Player,Fringe,RSS Hub,Opera mini,HSDPA,WiFi,Google Maps...I don't know if some of the applications that I installed after flashing could create problem with SMS and MMS,but I don't think so.At this point I will flash back to DK 1.2.I will give a try with DK2 once released.

On v2 if you softreset it will reset your recent programs on the start menu but it does not clear your sms box!!

Just for the records, once you told me that, I flashed one of the latest Kaiser ROM's Ship, and it clears the SMS Inbox, but not the most recent programs, in start menu, once you soft reset it. Go figure!

I have installed/uninstalled, enable/restart, disable/restart etc.. with no luck as of yet. Look forward to installing all of my crapware to SD and hope there is enough memory left to access MSVC without IGO (TTS) crashing. I have been rotating all of the latest ROMs out there and I have had more success with the lite ROMs as I can install more to SD.

A Garmin Request: A System Tools and Utilities folder option/cab with your choice of beautiful icons would be nice surprise if it came available.

you can use total commander or similar to make any folder or subfolder you want..... if you dont know how just let me know and ill show you!

hello, is anyone having a issue restoring the text/mms from pim back up 2.8, i have used this 100's of times, yes 100's, im a junkie, normally it takes 3-4 minutes to restore all my contacts, text/mms, appointment etc. i noticed after flash and reflash i went to restore from pim, contact went fine, then it just hung at mms/texts, i did a hard reset, and again in hung, but after about 15 min it completed, all my contact are there, but more than half of my text/mms are not there, only old one from about 1 month ago, this is a first, i have 2 tilts, so i thought maybe i have a bad back up, so i did another pim back up from my tilt im currently using, move it to the other tilt im flashing and same thing, contact moved but hangs at mms/text. so i reflashed and same thing, :confused:
can anyone confirm,

I personally love Garmin and austinsnyc's work, Jealousy is not what this issue is here. I think people have just different views and obviously his is that cooks shouldn't accept $ for their work. I personally don't have a preference. I do think the bashing needs to stop though, I have seen far to many great chefs leave the boards due to BS and would hate to see either of these guys leave or be upset for that matter.

I think that austinsync is entitled to his beliefs about cooks, and donations. I don't think he has any business posting them in this thread. If he wants to discuss it in a thread, then there's a general sections for that stuff. Virtually all cooks in this forum accept donations so he's obviously in the minority on the issue. I'm not suggesting the minority opinion isn't valid, I'm simply saying that I believe it's a discussion for PM, IM, or a general thread, no for Garmin's rom. The point that was being made by austinsync was disappointed that the rom wasn't dumpable, and took a bit of a personal shot at Garmin regarding his decision to accept donations.

As for your technical issue, i'm not sure what you mean by the data connection doesn't work when connected to the computer. Mine is fine. Please explain.

I just have all my cabs set to install to those dir's---> Dutty's dir structure. I just thought it would be nice to see Garmin's Icons for those folders.

Moving forward on getting all my .cabs installed to SD. (Phone keeps ringing though!) Does anyone else out there run Igo (w TTS) and have it crash with phone calls or MSVC? This is the ultimate ROM test for me. I believe it is due to available memory while Igo is running. I know there are some good minds in this thread that may have an opinion on this subject. PM me as to not sway from the thread topic if you have any comments on this subject.

So far, this ROM is working great. I should be able to run the Igo (TTS) crash test tomorrow morning after work. (Fingers Crossed)

I have been loosely following this thread since it came out. I haven't used any Garmin ROMs, but this looks interesting and I will give it a try.

I just donated $ to Garmin for no other reason than I feel badly that someone who is clearly trying to help us all has been so misunderstood and mistreated by many (probably well intentioned but overzealous) junior and senior members. I would like to believe that they represent the minority of XDA users, but I am not sure.

It's so large because a Radio is included in the Flash.

This has allowed me to do some Java benchmarking to test the 3D performance of the new drivers:

My battery was at 88% when I installed the ROM about 12 EST. WP updates every 30 mins as well as my POP3 mail. I have also been on the phone for over 30 mins and my battery still reads 88%. Has anyone noticed anything similar? Short of flashing another Rom can anyone tell me if there is an alternative way to verify if the reading I am seeing is accurate?

Same issue, will look into it. Did you try a hard reset, and then restore before any software is flashed just to be sure it was rom related?

I did not had any problems with DK1.2, but i have changed the radio cause i had the same problem , i live in Fryslan . The Chef advice a specific radio cause he made the rom with that one, but u have always to try wich radio is the best for u. Groetjes

I think that is 3D aceleration driver that was not implemented by HTC to the Qualcom chipset ( processor) that we have in our device. Read this ----The drivers (small pieces of software that govern your device's hardware) in question are responsible for all drawing operations. This means absolutely everything having anything to do with putting something on your screen is affected. This includes normal programs, video playback, games, taking pictures, etcetera. If it's on your screen, it's affected. This makes the devices feel really slow and unresponsive. :D

You may have to be patient. My restore took about 30mins to complete. However, I believe I have all my SMS. Not sure why is longer, I have noticed that on some various roms. I have just learned to be patient with them.

Ok I need to go back a step. In case you have missed the news, a group of developers have managed to find their way into some initial 3D drivers for the HTC TyTn II which weren't supposed to exist/be possible at http://www.htcclassaction.org . There had only been a handful of basic OpenGL scripts that could test how the device was performing. There isn't a program that natively tests the 3D graphics on a TyTn II because they weren't supposed to exist.

However, something I came across yesterday is jbenchmark.com which uses Java Midlets to do the benchmarking for you, but this is where it gets sticky. There isn't one Java Midlet that does everything on a Windows Mobile device probably because it hasn't been actively encouraged by Microsoft and so in a nutshell depending on how you want to use Java, forces your hand on what version you want to install (I only learnt a couple of days ago that there were so many varieties. If you are interested in this, I suggest you read this thread http://www.modaco.com/content-page/260951/the-java-midlet-bible/page/20/ in it's entirety. The problem was previously that you either went for a stable Java like the one installed on Garmin 1.2 or if you want to play 3D java games or test the 3D performance that require M3G you start having to fish around. The link I posted in my last post http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=2127317&postcount=65 is a user modified version with M3G support, which allows for installation on a SD card should you wish to do so. It has appeared stable throughout all the testing that I have done today.

As for the question about the results for Garmin 1.2, this can be attributed to 1) the Java version Garmin had cooked and 2) any tweaks/changes between 1.2 and 2. A better comparison would be to run it again with Garmin 2 Full which I assume has the original Java version.

For those who have PIM Backup issues, here is what i did to restore my 2,500 messages.

1) clear sms/mms had to do it twice for some ready
2) Use kaisertweaks to disable threaded sms
3) soft reset
4) restore messages only using PIM Backup
5) opened sms/mms to see that my messages were restored and not threaded
6) use task manager to kill the messaging window
7) Use kaisertweaks to enable threaded sms again (this took awhile, combined by contact, then threaded each conversation)

Now my messages are all properly restored.

On money subject,lemme put it this way. MAny of you kaiser's owner are lucky, we in Indonesia never have that kind of operator subsidy and plan. All Kaiser sold here is plain $800 (now it's around 720 sumtin). If you considered that big amount yourself, then think how much its worth for us here, in this country.

The point is, no matter what, it's not a common people toys here, hence neither Garmin. But I think you understand that sometime people runs into trouble right, and from what I knew, he's also a student. I guess now u understand his condition.

I attempted to test pcm keyboard on the 1.2 garmin but it won't pop up ... im guessing that u need sipchange....is that the case with 2.0? plz advice...thank you in advance

For those who have PIM Backup issues, here is what i did to restore my 2,500 messages.

1) clear sms/mms had to do it twice for some ready
2) Use kaisertweaks to disable threaded sms
3) soft reset
4) restore messages only using PIM Backup
5) opened sms/mms to see that my messages were restored and not threaded
6) use task manager to kill the messaging window
7) Use kaisertweaks to enable threaded sms again (this took awhile, combined by contact, then threaded each conversation)

Now my messages are all properly restored.

the PIM Backup, works well, but its a slighly different,.

remember the one i wrote above about the delay? i wrote, i found the way to make the compression better, (it makes the RAM have a smoother move each byte),.


There you go, before i used that, the PIM backup took longer time to restore (this used to be a bug), but i make it better, by adding new compression, and there you go, the PIM works faster than the first one, even its not as fast as normal,.

I also restore from PIM, and its just a bit slow, but all normal,.


do this:
- restore and wait till finish
- soft reset

I use the same method to restore PIM as Skat, disabling then enabling threaded sms etc. The difference being I used jeyo sms backup to restore/backup, not PPCPIMBackup.

I found jeyo being less buggy for sms restoring (be it threaded or not), since its a very specified tool for sms restoring. But anyway, since you already used PIMBackup then my suggestion will only work to your next bckup/restore cycle.

I couldn't get activesync to work with BT using Garmin's first release but I didn't spend anytime trying to figure it out. It didn't work so I plugged in and never mentioned it. I haven't downloaded 1.2 yet.

Oh, ok, it was caused by the VGA affected,.

so this Build is a real FULL VGA build,.

and i ported to QVGA, so some module just keep in vga, i didnt found it yet, to change it to QVGA,.

Just take a look at start/setting/today/items, and you will see, the check sign, wasnt like normal,. thats a VGA check sign,.


This issue have been reported by RMB via PM,.

I hope he could give more explanation here,.

Notes syncs fine for me, running ActiveSync 4.5 in Win XP.

Has anybody encountered any strange issues with the backlight? When it dims, it never goes back to the "normal" level again (the level set using the backlight utility).

If I go to settings / Backlight, even though it shows that I am 4 clicks from the maximum, the screen is really dark (as if it was the lowest click). Yet as soon as I try to adjust up/down, the screen brighten's up again and remains so for the minute or so that I've setup for the backlight to turn off.

And then when I turn the phone on the next time, it's dark again as if it was the lowest click.

Strange... never encountered this behaviour before in dutty's, hyperdragon, dk.1 etc.

Anybody have any suggestion on what might be wrong?
