I've just flashed to 6.1 but am now having problems wiith roaming. My i780 constantly shows the triangle icon and the phone thinks I am roaming. This wouldn't normally bother me but my exchange push account will not sync if it thinks I'm roaming. I've tried hard resets, soft resets but nothing has helped.

Software version:
PDA: i780PXIHH5
PHONE: i780PUHE1

Anyone have any ideas?

You can set your ActiveSync to work as usual even in roaming mode by adjusting the Schedule option in ActiveSync itself.

When once in a while someone gives support to the i780 that works OK on the i780, we should be grateful and not miscredit this fact. If you don't like it, you can express yourselves in another manner :(

Try flash it first with DXHH1.img rom, make a hard reset then you can change pdapart like v4x or v5x if needed. All working files are collected in my mediafire directory (mediafire.com/xanadu)

Got the same problem with V5... Key Lock with holding hang up key doesn't work anymore...

I noticed that this happened after I set in "pocket tweak" animation fopr windows and menus... but don't know if there's a context...

I was slowly reading all the post of this thread. reading them halfway when i have the sudden urge to skip to the last page only to see this post..

Nevertheless, i'd like to give u my thnx for all the hard work u've put into making roms for the i780. its really sad to see that u've stopped working on this project. i hope someone else would pick it up and continue cooking. i would do it but i know nuts about cooking and will take a while for me to learn it.

In regards to the latest v5 rom. ive tried the 128dpi ultimate bundle. looks great. but a few things i'd like to ask:

1) how can i place a shortcut/link to 'Wireless Manager' (Currently from Start > Settings > Connections Tab) into my Start Menu or the Today screen?

2) is there a way to change the functions listed on the Today (Currently using the default theme that comes with the rom)

a) the sms sent notification doesnt work. ive already tried toggling using advanced config.

b) the mms function doesnt work. i cannot compose MMS. pressing on New > MMS doesnt do anything. im able to receive MMS but not open them. theres no MMS options either. i can see the settings from GPRS Authentication but not from Connections. i've tried redoing Operator Settings but it didnt help.

1)You can tap on wireless icon on top right of the screen beside Volume icon and Wireless Manager will appear.

2)First tap on the Function icon then the Minus sign lighted up then you tap on icon you wanna delete, after you finished, tap on the minus again and all unwanted icon will be removed, then tap on empty icon space and the list will appear for you to select new icon as you wish.

a)The sms sent notification retired already. Even in new Samsung original Rom it refuses to come back to work. I think this is related to salary increament issue. Ha ha ha just a joke.:D

b) You have to install MMS FIX Cab attached on first page for it to work.

I want to ask for my problem
I have installed the "V5X 128DPI Ultimate" to my i780
The installation was succeeded.
But, why the logo of "3G" doesn't appear, and I found that I can check the option of my 3G network, it can'be activated
When I found around, I got something strange here. When I klik the Wifi (to search network), although the network found nothing but the logo of data (in the top menu) change become a "BTS logo", and when after that I can make a video call.
Any suggestion?

Next, I've got GPS problems with igo8 and the latest ROM: It'll work once, but if I try again later, a reboot is required to get the GPS to respond. I saw waaay back on page 160 where EFN mentions a GPS driver cab from E1, but it doesn't seem to be in the cab collection from page 1.

Can anyone point me to the E1 GPS driver fix cab? Thanks!

When the phone is turn on, the logo "3G" doesn't appear.
After iI simply klik "internet", the logo was appear, even I disconnect the wireless data connection.
But when I look to the network setting, the "3G Cellcom" can't be choose/checked, although I can use video Call
So, the question is... What happened with this? Can I make the "3G" logo appear automatically when I turn on the phone

Very sad to hear that you are leaving us. I bought my first i780 when it was lauched and sold it less than 2 weeks. I've tried other PDAs like HTC, etc and finally come back to i780 after reading your blog. Thanks for all your efforts.

Thanks so much for posting this! i was about to throw the phone in the garbage because of my frustration trying to get this work... imagine buying a windows phone and it will connect everywhere except to msn and hotmail pages arrrghh! Once I changed the connections to internet only for all connections I was able to add my hotmail account and receive messages. I never would have thought the app would try to connect through another connection than internet unless i saw this post. You have seriously saved me alot of aggravation (and not to mention post-purchase remorse!)

Now all i have to do is be able to install google maps and im golden.

Am using a v5x with my middle eastern i780 .
I have a problem that the . (DOT) key is assigned to messaging..and keyboard layout of my i780 is the one that has no separate GPS key.

This could not be solved by the changing the key settings from the buttons applet..

What files do i need to copy from my original region backup rom to this one to set the correct layout..

i have managed to square this to the xenolite_keypad_us.dll file that has the hardware layout built in...
but i am not sure..is this the HAL dll ?

I've spent most of today searching for an answer but to no avail so here goes...

I've updated to 6.1 ultimate and all has gone well except for the most important part for me and my i780, I can't connect to my corporate network to sync with exchange. I've set up my connection under "My Work Network" as I have done on many occasions with my work APN.

The error message I get is:
"Please check your ID and Password or reselect Authentication Type if it's necessary".

I have set up this connection on countless phones in the past, so I know I have the correct settings. I can take the SIM out and connect fine on my Touch Diamond (also 6,1) fine, and prior to the upgrade I could also connect fine. I have done quite a few Hard Resets and repeated the set-up process so again I'm confident I have all the correct settings. I can connect to the internet fine through the standard default Orange Internet connection.


Any ideas?

I hadn't spotted the application "GPRS Authentication" that allows me to set the authentication to PAP (default is none).

I just upgrade to 6.1, works like a charm. but I dont like the threading sms view, so i disabled it, and it also disable the sms sent notification bubble. so i read it here http://www.mydigitallife.info/2008/06/24/enable-or-disable-the-sms-text-message-sent-notification-bubble/ how to enabled it again without re-enabling the thread view.

I have a i780 with V5X PXIHH5 and software wise it works a dream however I am having problems with the network set-up ... it connects but struggles with WAP and often says it’s roaming.

The problem is my network is “3” UK and it is not an option under "operator settings", so I downloaded HTC Network Wizard (Build 29982) this gives the operator H3G – it is with this setting that I get a 3G connection but not WAP and it tends to switch to roaming. I also tried Schap's Setup Operator v0.3, this did not run (it has been “discontinued”).

Does anyone have an application that works or updates for the above with the current settings?

I will miss the i780 but for some reason I just cannot get over the smallish screen (but everything else about i780 - I loved it)

So this means I will no longer make new roms for i780 and I hope you guys can make full use of the kitchen that I have shared for future development. Cooking is not difficult actually and I am confident you guys can do it :)

I have just got my i780 today - I know, a late convert!
I have the standard Orange UK ROM and plan on flashing it (I am on Vista) Also - can I flash the phone from the Orange ROM to V5X HH5 straight away or do I need to put the russian ROM on first and then update?

Had the same problem. Stopped it by going to Menu-->Tools-->Settings in Opera Mini and unchecking "Auto-complete address input".

Didn't lose any capability since I've never been able to get an address to auto-complete anyway.

If you just want to make it english all you need to do is flash a new PDA ROM with Mirage updater. (guide is on the front page :D)

i tried to flash my i780 the bootloader rom and the PDA ROM got no problem, but the phone ROM cannot be written, already try to flash it using the russian ROM but it failed, it cannot detect the local SIM card...:(

you will need to take out the sim card when you flash it as well and also memory card...

Please help! I got problems on flash the i780 to WM6.1 rom! My one is Uk version HC4, I flash the rom to russian HE1, successed! then goto English HE1, download fail in Phone 58%. Try to direct upgrade to the cooked 6.1 rom from Russia HE1, also fail in 58%!

So I have to flash it back to english HC1. Then try again! Got fail same at 58% of the Phone upgarde!

I got another question! I flash the phone from a .img file is mush faster than a .bin file. Is it correct?

I would like to help converting the newest WWE i780 WM6.1 rom from raw to a usable i780.bin (flashable). But I no longer have i780 because I have moved back to O2 Xda Flame.

The limitation that we are at now is that no one has ever succeeded in dumping and flashing the PDA and eBoot sections. So if you notice all of my roms only offer PDA section.

To get a full IMG rom file, it have to be coming from the original source, which is Samsung themselves.

So, my method of cooking for the i780 is actually the very same one that Famusc use. My kitchen is actually build on Famusc kitchen.

But if you want to convert the new part02.raw into a usable flash PDA bin, make sure the uploader also include boot.hv, boot.rgu from his i780 (the one he dumped from). The boot.hv and boot.rgu can only be copied over when the i780 is in running mode with the new rom. Failing to do this will make the new dumped rom unable to connect to the internet properly.

The boot.rgu and boot.hv can then be used and placed in \ROM\XIP folder of my kitchen before you run BuildOS.

Erm , actually i success to convert the raw file into bin file and i flashed use for two day already ,i'm not sure about mine converted version , the internet work or not =]Still need time to test it out
but what i know is now my GPS logging speed extreme fast ,once i log first time , then second time i can log within a minute , Thx to Gary provide me important information on garmin using =)
Other than this , my search function in garmin can use already =)

well this is the problem,we need boot+phone section of I1 rom i flashed my phone with I1's pda part and it works like charm!! very good and stable.I know that there are many improvements on phone part too and bootloader will help wm6.1 to load quickly and nice animations on boot.I hope a i780 brother will upload this nice rom to here.

guys need some help flashing in Windows XP service pack 3 ....o.k using mirage and trying to flash the i780 PUHE1_Rev12. So I choose EBOOT+PDA+Phone....the flash goes all the way to the end...till it comes to the phone part then it says Port create failed....and I get this KW.KIM create retry....on the log it says Phone Automatic driver detection failed...Attempt to open Com 0 failed...Port create Failed Com 0 . I am using the samsung driver provided...I have un-installed Active sync thinking it might be the problem...but I still get this error...I recently change my memory card to 8Gb could this cause the problem? When I take the battery out and reset the phone it still works....so I am not sure what the problem is...

O.K guys got it sorted...Russian Rom is installed. Don't ask me how:oJust restarted the Pc fitted the original Memory card....inserted the sim....got the Kw.Kim retry up to 9 and then it detected the port....so bloody glad! So now for the V5 update.

Had been using V5 rom just notice 2 things. Please let me know if anyone have similar problem (and possible solution...)

1) MMS (screen01.jpg)
I have tried to change MMS profile (adding/edit) but it doesn't work.
It actually has NO profile to choose from but the Active profile is the default "INDOSAT-MMS".

I believe INDOSAT is the provider of my phone's original region (or EFN's region, I'm not sure)

Anyone else having this problem?

2) For some reason, my keyboard has STOPPED working. The phone detects the button click of keyboard (backlight returns to normal brightness after pressing any keys).

After some checking, it seems there is a file missing in my "Windows" directory: InputSet.exe

If anyone has that file in their phone, please kindly upload so I can try if that fixes my problem.

I forgot the links but you should still be able to find them if you do a search on PUHE1 bin file. From PUHE1, you can actually update the PDA section directly with V5 series.

I have been using DX series and EFN's V5x back and fore due to Chinese support is a must on my case, V5 is unbelievable stable, never halt, not even once !! Light fast response, and if you need 96dpi, this is the only choice. However I am now testing on applications, so far, I can not get any GPS signal without using middleware on MapKing. Although EFN stopped his development work, this is still the best i780 rom on the planet so far. Thanks

I had a similar Problem using the ROM but this occurred with BT8010 not with BT3030. I contacted the Jabra Team They said that this was issue with I780 and BT8010.

I am still having problems with JabraBT8010 and i780.
This was what the Jabra people told me ....

-It was possible to answer/ place a call during the music streaming and there was voice audio in the headset.
-You are required to set the headset in wireless stereo manually every time when you turn off and turn it on again. This is a phone features on SGH-i780.

The SW version on the BT8010 is 1-4-0
The SW version on the Samsung SGH-i780 is CE OS 5.2.194

Suggestion: reset and try with other phone to determine.

I have an orange i780 which was locked to orange. I have flashed the i780 with an official Samsung wm6 image. However the phone is not unlocked. Do I need to get an orange unlock code for this phone?

Samsung in the states have came out with 2 models:
-Samsung Saga i770
-Samsung Epix i907

both these phone are American brothers towards Samsung i780 model which are running the WM6.1 but they don't have the front camera for video calls & taking pictures like the i780.

really, really stupid thing i did, need HELP!!!! i tried installing i780 rom on i907 "EPIX" very dumb i know. could not deal with att crapware, so i thought i would just f up phone totaly.

phone will not turn on at all, the charger wont even cause the notification light to come on when i plug in. any help with my retarded mistake?

I guess UMTS/HSDPA is necessary for calling and surfing at the same time, at least i can call and use the internet at the same time when 3G is available.
And surfing is interrupted when there is an incoming call and i'm in an 2G area.

Where are the other roms from? Are they language specific, country based WWE's or network operator branded?

Unpacked it there is another exe file, modem drivers and a readme.doc file which seems korean I can't open it.

The XP package is unpackabe... but there's a 90 ;B big BVHK1_XP.exe file. This is not unpackable... there are also many other files in the CP package.

Still can't install a ROM.

After tick 3 checkboxes and push "Verify Device" button there is message box "Incorrect software version. Check the device."

Application is labelled "SGH-I780 WM6.1 Upgrader" so maybe it need WM6.0 as originally I780 was released.

got some clue.

I've edited BVHK1_XP.exe with hex editor (you can do it by HxD ) scrolled to very bottom of file and edited "i780BV" to "i780CE" (I have CE version of soft on my device).
Now "Incorrect software version. Check the device." don't appear but it says that my battery is not 100% charged :/ = need wait some more....

Yes, that's true... I played a bit with the numbers in the download links and got these other roms:

i780PXBHK2 Vista (http://fus.samsungmobile.com/i780/NE/PXBHK2/i780PXBHK2_Upgrader_VISTA.exe) (Netherlands Unbranded I think)
i780PXBHK2 XP (http://fus.samsungmobile.com/i780/NE/PXBHK2/i780PXBHK2_Upgrader_XP.exe) (same as above, but for XP)
i780PCSHK3 XP (http://fus.samsungmobile.com/i780/NE/PCSHK3/i780PCSHK3_Upgrader_XP.exe) (also Netherlands I think, but maybe operator version)
i780PCSHK3 VISTA (http://fus.samsungmobile.com/i780/NE/PCSHK3/i780PCSHK3_Upgrader_VISTA.exe) (same as above, but for Vista)

BTW: For what I have read here at XDA, I think that i780PCEHI2 is a Spanish version, maybe operator version!

Humm, very very interesting... Tell us, it's a full rom (eboot+pda+phone) right? Are there significant differences to the PDXHI1?

Meanwhile, looking at the download links, it seems that the i780PAFHJ1 is from Orange from France! Not sure if it is in French or English!

well this rom is belong to telenor telekom but as i said before you can choose which language u want at the starting of wm6.1 and there is no operating settings it means we have to enter it manually. actually i am not using mms. wifi mouse camere bluetooth and nice samsung theme is working very well no problem seen so far
