well this rom is belong to telenor telekom but as i said before you can choose which language u want at the starting of wm6.1 and there is no operating settings it means we have to enter it manually. actually i am not using mms. wifi mouse camere bluetooth and nice samsung theme is working very well no problem seen so far

Just run the setup, and it will flash the phone automatically?

Could you share some snaps? Does it incl. Chinese? So interesting...

well well i installed PCSHK3 and at the end istallation there is option to choose language i chooses english but there is no operator setting in the rom i think it is specific rom

Have downloaded two of the roms: the PBVHK1, and the PCSHK3.

My phone version is DXHH1, while the pda part is PXIHH5.

I have read in a previous post by Melgurth that he used HxD to change a string in the exe from i780BV to i780CE.

To which version must i change the string? i780DX or i780PX?

Secondly, if these ROMS are operator locked, ie Orange et al, can the method described in this post

i780PBVHK1_Upgrader_VISTA is a Orange customized ROM with an orange boot screen... and in english. There's a new Today Plugin from Samsung, looks good.

Many user told that the downloads of the ROM's from fus.samsungmobile.com are terrible slow...:

Use some download manager like flash get or so. I get then nearly 100 kb/sec :)

I think the traffic is really high. Do the wonder why ;) ?

dude I just noticed (on HxD screenshot) that you are editing i780PCSHK3_Upgrader_XP.exe. The file you should edit is CSHK3_XP.EXE and it must be extracted from i780PCSHK3_Upgrader_XP.exe by Winrar (or other unpacker) :)

With some help of Melgurth i updated my phone to the CSHK3 rom.

When installing i got a choice for language dutch, french english and italian but after the rom was on the phone and it started firts time there where other language choices to make in which the rom is installed on the phone.

those are: english, danish, norwegian, finnish (suomi) and swedish.

Because my norwegian is very bad i chose english but i really wanted to have dutch.

Ill try and put on the other rom (XBHK) to see if there is dutch involved and let it know here.

for the XBHK rom the same thing is on, the rom is WM6.1 scandinavian or english

After upgrading from wm6.0 to wm6.1 i also tested SPB backup fro putting al the things back that i already had installed on my device.

Works like a blast and everything i had in before from call history to text messages is back in the new 6.1 style.

I an sure now that it is worth the investment for this upgrading possibility too.

Maybe it's a problem with the scrolling function in SPB Pocket Plus 4? I had the same issue after i installed PP4.

I've edited BVHK1_XP.exe with hex editor (you can do it by HxD ) scrolled to very bottom of file and edited "i780BV" to "i780CE" (I have CE version of soft on my device).
Now "Incorrect software version. Check the device." don't appear but it says that my battery is not 100% charged :/ = need wait some more....

Removed this rom due lot of problems. Upgrading to i780PBVHK1 works with the same method and seems much better: "," OK, Buttons OK.

Got update thing working now, i have to press OK and the device will reboot..
but then the image isnt downloaded.. the phone does not go in flashing mode, it simply just reboots..
using vista ;d

make sure you delete all old samsung modem drivers, furthermore if flashing still doesnt work, try a second time while you put the device manually in image mode, using the FN and ENT tool while putting it on.. flashing now : )

Take care of the following -
1. First of all remove all the us drivers for samsung.
2. reinstall from the unrared file.
3. Use hex editor to REPLACE ( Overwrite) the ROM version donot delete and overwrite. Use search and replace function.
4. Use the edited exe for upgrading!

Yes, that's true... I played a bit with the numbers in the download links and got these other roms:

i780PXBHK2 Vista (http://fus.samsungmobile.com/i780/NE/PXBHK2/i780PXBHK2_Upgrader_VISTA.exe) (Netherlands Unbranded I think)
i780PXBHK2 XP (http://fus.samsungmobile.com/i780/NE/PXBHK2/i780PXBHK2_Upgrader_XP.exe) (same as above, but for XP)
i780PCSHK3 XP (http://fus.samsungmobile.com/i780/NE/PCSHK3/i780PCSHK3_Upgrader_XP.exe) (also Netherlands I think, but maybe operator version)
i780PCSHK3 VISTA (http://fus.samsungmobile.com/i780/NE/PCSHK3/i780PCSHK3_Upgrader_VISTA.exe) (same as above, but for Vista)

BTW: For what I have read here at XDA, I think that i780PCEHI2 is a Spanish version, maybe operator version!

i780PXBHK2 is the lastest NoBrand ROM (Netherlands - English) but it has a bug in "input setting"... cannot change keyboard settings... :mad:

Mit i780PBVHK1 rom mein Gerät lauft viel schneller und bleibt etwa 5 MB mehr RAM übrig; beim Telefon und GPS sehe ich kein Unterschied (bis jetzst war auch alles in Ordnung) Kein WLAN-Symbol bleibt oben bei mir.
Die Dateien sind meistens nich meine ich habe nur gesammelt ingendwo. Deutsche i780BH*** rom kann mit mein romup.rar Datei einfach upgraden: herunterladen, auspacken und BVHK1_XP.exe starten.

Hi everybody. What the Samsung upgrader does when you run the exe file is, it checks the software vesion on your phone. If the version on your phone does not correspond with the one in the exe file it will give you the error of "incorrect software version".

If you know from witch country and operator the update is you can try to change your samsung with the following codes. Try at own risk!!!

Backup everything before trying this.
Hope it works. Have not tried it on I780 but it worked on my Omnia. The codes work on the I780 but I am only downloading update file tommorow so I have not done this on my I780.


• Press the 'dial' Button.
• Press Keypad to bring up the keypad on screen.
• With the onscreen keypad input *#1546792*#
• Select 'Preconfiguration'
• Enter Password *#81230*# and select OK
• Choose correct country and operator.
• Press Execute.
• I think the phone will reset (Hard Reseted on my Omnia)
• Try to run the update again.

"C:\Documents and Settings\<your account name>\Local Settings\Temp\IXP000.TMP\"

Then copy UPDATE.exe to Desktop.

This is the file that contains the update.

Got this from Omnia flash instructions. So the temp folder might have different name. Just check in the temp folder for a new folder. Do not close the exe because it deletes all the files.

Using the HK1 ROM there is no problem so far.
Keys especially "," and messsaging was not properly working in HK3 ROM

Yes, it's only PDA.. but works OK with HK1 EBOOT/PHONE - tested by me. For HL1 EBOOT/PHONE we will have to wait until an official upgrader is released (leaked).
If this converted ROM works I will create a topic solely for the discussion of this version.. let me know if it does on your phones ppl.. it does on mine - and yes, you must use Mirage updater (it's mentioned in the TXT file accompanying the ROM ;) )

If I were you I'd strip the PDA BIN from the extracted EXE, flash it via Mirage and then use the official EXE to update the whole phone.. instructions for creating the BIN file from the EXE (using i.e. HxD HEX-editor) can be found in this thread

I finally got PDA L1 and the rest as K3 going. SPB backup seemed to restore most everything, but I've been getting plenty of crashes as well: shell32, etc. Worse comes to worst, I reinstall everything one by one....

Anyone know the registry tweak to turn off the awful startup sound? Seems like it's been missing in previous ROMs, but now it's back. Help!

Eboot + PHONE of PBVHK1 plus PDA of PMSHL1 is a good combination. Everything is working fine except for 3G connection. Even though you managed to connect to the 3G service but no data transfer is happening. This problem is for Malaysia users only. Stick to your I1 or H1 ROMs.

XP worked fine, it installed a french version of active sync, the modem drivers and it succeeded in downloading phone, eboot and rom (all i2) to the i780. I also find this one working better than the i2/j2 combination.

I`m fighting with that, installing every possible flash player and Opera version, hard reseting and so on..
I have managed to know there is Flash 2.1 probobly already inside and Opera9 main folder in Application Data, what can possibly complicate things..

I know it's a daunting process, but start reading back through the topic. Basically, the easiest way I found was to extract the PDA rom (there are instructions on how to do this), flash it with Mirage then use the full updater afterwards.

Senior Folks like Xanadu and others need your help on this. I have been using the hex edited HK1 rom without any issues when I decided to move to the PMSHL1 24 PP version. While updating using the Mirage Updater, I chose Phone instead of PDA. Quite rightly the update failed at 58%. I restarted and was able to complete the PDA update using the correct options.

Now the phone does not seem to work any more -:(
Under version both
PDA:PMSHL1
Phone :PMSHL1
which is not correct.

Need all your help to fix this .....Do you think if I flash any of the working phone radios like K1,or I2, it will be back to working condition?
Please help.

Same problem with my friend's i780.. he couldn't flash my cooked HL1 ROM - stuck at 58%, failed. However, then he flashed EFN's v5 (not sure which one) and then my cooked ROM and voila - it worked.. I've flashed as many as 60 times and NEVER had this issue BTW

Now I have backed up another swedish i780 (I have three raw-files (part 0,1 and 2)) but I don't know how to make a writable ROM-file that I can put in my phone. The information is probably in this thread but with over 300 pages to read maybe someone can tell me how to do or where to find the info? THANKS!

Download the kitchen from the first page, unpack and read the enclosed PDF - it has all the info need for converting RAW -> BIN ;)

Well I think the updater file will have to be edited by Hexeditor .... But what version should I change to ????? Mascian were you able to update by changing the strings as you have mentioned???

As far as I see in the posts before the thumb rule to the Hex(String) editing is change the second and third letters to the PDA part which is present in the phone.

Mine i780 is PDA PMSHL1 and the Phone Part is PCSHK3, what should I do???

Thanks benveq, I hoped in .img files because I have a problem with this official update.
My actual rom is: PDA PMSHL1 / PHONE PBVHK1 and I have downloaded "i780PDXHL2_Upgrader_XP.exe", and extracted "DXHL2_XP.EXE"; Opened "DXHL2_XP.EXE" with HxD and changed the string named "i780DX", with:

First time) i780PM
Second time) i780MS
Third time) i780PMS

...but update not start: "Incorrect software version - Check the device"


Where is the problem?

Hello guy I had the same with you last night but after i reflashed i780 with pdxhi1 to pda via mirage, and then retry again the problem was gone,
now my i780 run well with L2
I guessed caused of error due to uploader software check for device soft version while we back it to same series pdxh.... so then it allow for further process.

Hummmmm, Seems you are correct, What about the phone part is it changed to the latest version too????

No, I have old driver, no problem with update; and none change in the image with hex editor.
U need to downgrade back to ROM PDXHH1 OR PDXHI1. No need to extract anything from the official L2 exe ROM. make sure u hv the modem driver installed, sync with ActiveSync and then launch the exe updater.

I believe it is the unnamed file in your mediafire directory! Downloading it now. Should I just run the update ?? No change required in the file name or any thing else??

I'm surprised with one thing, I have MSHL1 PDA rom ( with CBHE1 phone/boot from POLAND) which states that WIFI ver is 1.0.8 and newer DXHL2 rom states Wifi 1.0.7.7 which seems to be older... Am I right.

Does it mean that the older WiFi (1.0.7.7v) software is better than (1.0.8v) and they decided to downgrade it in newer PDA rom? What do you think?

Hi I just upgraded my rom to HL1 and so far its great, there in no problem but I noticed the opera skin, the button are huge... maybe it's more finger friendly but... It's so HUGE... i like it better when i use the HTC opera cab witch i installed before I upgrade it..
does anyone have a skin for it?

Thanks Xanadu for your help! But using your edited ROM image I was able to update the PDA Part successfully but it didnot update the Phone Part. Now my Phone is PDA 1780PDXHL2 and Phone is i780PCSHK3. Any ideas as to what I should do???

Hey Donot be an Idiot Like me!!!
Just managed to update my phone. The problem was with the drivers!
Uninstalled and reinstalled the drivers and presto I was able to update the phone.

Now A Piece of ADVICE for NEW USERS. ALWAYS REMOVE THE SAMSUNG DRIVERS AND REMEMBER TO REINSTALL THEM BEFORE THE UPDATION.

Best is to restart the computer when one is uninstalling the drivers.

i wish to extract the PDA part from - L2 rom - by copying in a new file named i780.bin the block starting with 101000 and ending at 4E79512.
i've downgraded my 780 with the PDXHH1 and flashed with the new i780.bin as before: the flash starts but it doesn't end and the PPC doesn't switch off.

can u resolve this problem?

another two questions..
the first one is the following: where does i780 store the information about the firmware code?
the second one: where is the starting year (2008)? and the GMT time (in a previous ROM - L1 - was as "home":e8 : london)

Folks, I'm a bit confused since I'm new to all this.

I downloaded the package at the following URL http://fus.samsungmobile.com/i780/sea/PDXHL2/i780PDXHL2_Upgrader_XP.exe and it asks me to install the "Samsung CDMA Modem driver". My phone is a GSM phone so I'm wondering if this update is for a CDMA version of the phone (though I did not hear of the i780 being available in CDMA)
I also get the other error of "incorrect software version" and I plan to correct it via the HEX editor as posted in another thread.

So basically and to recap there is no native support of AZERTY keyboard on English/UK ROM.

I am totallay new to WM 6.1 and don not have a clue how to change this setting.

I am missing my special characters "æåø" which are on the keyboard but are not mapped to these.
