Anyone have an idea to correct the problem with S2P button alignment? As was mention in V2 when using S2P the place where you press the buttons do not work. You have to press off or in my case above the actual button to press it. In the V2 I read a fix for this was to change the resolution to 120dpi then back to 96dpi. Since RealVGA is not installed how would you propose to fix this.

What is the current resolution? it looks like 96dpi.

That is the fix. To make the fix work, you need to install RealVGA and the 2 cab files (96dpi and 128dpi).

Instructions:

Uninstall S2P first.
Install both 96dpi and 128dpi cabs.
Install RealVGA.
Run RealVGA and select 128dpi.
Install S2P in this 128dpi mode.
Run S2P, and the touch button is also offset.
Quit S2P.
Run RealVGA and select 96dpi.
Run S2P and you will get back the correct position.

V3 comes with bigger and wider font than the standard Tahoma. This is expected with some windows. If you want to fix this you can change back to Tahoma. Replace all entries in the registry from "MS Reference Sans Serif" to "Tahoma", use the PHM Regedit to search on MS Reference Sans Serif and change it. I reckon there are 6 locations affected so it's not tedious. But after you reboot with Tahoma the display will revert to how V2 look. You can always reverse this anytime you like. Cheers.

I would expect that to happen if you are running 128DPI....but noe 96DPI so it's kinda bizzare. It has to do with Icon graphic sizing. meaning if you run 96DPI while the program is natively 96DPI then sometimes the icon may dissapear. But I have not seen that happened with V3 no matter how many time I flashed them.

I am thinking of releasing a CAB file for those wanting to revert the font to Tahoma and back. What's the verdict?. But of course Tahoma will look smaller on the screen.

That is the fix. To make the fix work, you need to install RealVGA and the 2 cab files (96dpi and 128dpi).

Dont worry about RealVGA, contrary to popular believe, RealVGA is just a very simple registry changing tool to change the logical pixel with the corresponding DPI files. Installing it is quite harmless because everything is reversible. The reason I took out RealVGA from V3 was because I don't like the implications of running the rom in 128DPI full time (it's like going backwards with WM6.0 component)

Now I managed to flash my phone to WM6.1.
But I have to do it all over again.

I tried Droid Sans Fallback font and found it to be quite a heavy load. Droid has a size of 3MB and compared to Tahoma or any other sytem fonts which has very small footprint. So true enough afyer changing the sytem font to use Droid, I can immediately see the system has been slowed down quite a bit. I was forced to remove it and revert back to MS Reference Sans Serif.

Same goes with Segoe Ui which is sizeable as well. Personally I will not recommend the use of any font bigger than 1MB unless you are willing to sacrifice performance for look.

I will be releasing a cab or two later to enable fast switching to Tahoma (which is already in the rom). This should help to resolve unreadable windows if you are facing them :)

EFN, the missing icon is expected, like you said, I did install RealVGA 128dpi to get the proper working of S2P. I revert back to 96dpi after this.

The other issue which I am referring to is Domain Enroll. Correct me if I'm wrong, but I don't remember seeing the Domain Enroll in the E1 standard ROM. Is it a feature in WM6.1? :)

I have an German I780 with QWERTZ Keyboard.
Is there any Way to get this correct working?
I have tried German_Input_for_WM6_by_ZakMcRofl.cab and also (in past ROM Versions) the German Lang Pack of RealVGA.
But never get working the Keyboard right. Ok it is no great Matter to think about every tiem i type something that i have to pay attention at wrong z and y keys. But it will be more comfortable to have native German Keyboard Support.

Hey, download the Tahoma Font Switch and run on your V3. I think the font settings in registry have prevented Chinese SIP to work properly. The cab that I posted above will revert it to similar settings in V2. Try it out.

Of course you need a soft reset after installing.

Windows Mobile natively defaults with Tahoma. V3 was changed to MS Reference Sans Serif when I cooked it. I put up two cabs to enable fast switching (require soft reset) ;)

I originally had the B1 ROM but upgraded to E1 and WM6.1 when you brought out V2.

One problem that I have is Internet connectivity. For some reason I'm unable to connect to the internet. I phoned my service provider who told me that I need to contact Samsung for the settings as their standard settings which they normally send via sms cannot be utilised for WM.

Any idea on what I need to change/setup ?

I dont fancy waiting till Monday morning when their customer call centre re-opens.

Have u flashed the Russian rom (phone & pda) before flashing the WM6.1? Flashing the Russian rom is important because the rom require compatible phone (radio) version is required to work with HE1 version. And it seems you have a radio problem. You can also check that your operator settings are selected correctly in Settings-System-Operator Settings. Good luck :)

just type *0002*28346# and play around with the db. I think there is a short guide around here, search by "*0002*28346#" and you will find some results.

Don't forget to hit "Apply" after making changes in every page. This tweak is extremely useful when dealing with Bluetooth headsets.

Don't raise it too much, it could burn the small speaker thus you won't be able to hear incoming calls/sms!!!!

My knowledge in this is really limited my friend, someone will know better than me to reply on this! Sorry.

One thing i can say is that you can't find anything related to the sound db inside the registry, i have searched enough for this back in the days i had problem with my bluetooth headset and i couldn't find something.

I think it's ROM related, as you can see when you type the keycombo it says Mirage, like the flasher. I think it's an ultra light version of Mirage Loader specially crafted for the sound volumes.

That's exactly what Display Switch are meant to do, toggle the display off without putting the phone to sleep. Display Swith is best assigned to a button for fast display on/off. The display will be switched on again by pressing the same button or the on/off key ;)

Chances are good it will work if u say the previous WM6.1 DXHE1 works because this rom is build closely to retain the native i780 capabilities offered by the predecessor. No harm trying eh. Cheers

How can I reduce the delay before the phone goes back to the TODAY screen after I end a call (call summary)? Except for pressing the RED button twice..

And one more, is it possible to reduce the time it's necessary to hold the RED button to LOCK the device?

And a other thing, I have the feeling that I had faster GPS fix with a program like Portsplitter. But it's maybe between my ears:D (Dutch saying)

Hi thanks for the feedback. I suspect this may be related to the huge TCPWindowSize assigned to v3 release. Bigger TCPWindowSize will work good with stable broadband connection like Maxis HSDPA. no worries, I will post a fix to change the value tonight. Stay tuned ;)

It may happen sometimes and not limited to V3 only. But it is easy to fix. All you have to do is open Settings - Button and assign the keys to something else first, press OK and then reassign the keys to the shortcut you desire. It will never happen again after that. Hoep this helps

Unfortunately I am have very limited knowledge in tuning GPS software, in fact until today after owning i780 for 3 weeks, I hev yet to decide on which GPS software I want to use :p

As mentioned earlier, if you are having issues with Internet link (GPRS/3G/HSDPA) getting disconnected and attempts to reconnect, you may want to adjust the TCPWindowSize using the following cabs:

Switch to normal i780 TCPWindowSize (32768)

NOTE:
TCPWindowSize with a big allocation will allow for optimized speed but have lesser ability to sustain connection IF the 3G/HSDPA link is poor. This behaviour will affect any service requiring internet link (Windows Live, Push Mail, HTC Home Weather Plugin etc)

I have tested Opera Mini 4.1 with the following cab and it's definitely waay better than Opera 9.51b. Give it a try and you will know what I mean.

This problem happens to me with every newer rom than [dxhd1_messenger unlocked]. I tried to replace the oemdriver and the resco registry.

Just copy the file in the \windows directory of the smartphone, and then the look of vista will change as you can see on the attacched images.

All will happen "automagically" if the phone is connected for the first time.

If not, you have to connect the phone, remove it from device manager, disconnect the phone, and plug it again.

The icon was done by the user Endymion, and fixed by me.

As mentioned earlier, if you are having issues with Internet link (GPRS/3G/HSDPA) getting disconnected and attempts to reconnect, you may want to adjust the TCPWindowSize using the following cabs:

Switch to normal i780 TCPWindowSize (32768)

I have tested Opera Mini 4.1 with the following cab and it's definitely waay better than Opera 9.51b. Give it a try and you will know what I mean.

Of course not.. install only one, they both change the same value(s) - thus by installing them both, only the second one (last one you installed) will be active (as in change registry values)

i think i solved the problem. settings - connections - select .. the internet, then proxy settings, enable "this networks connects to the internet"

V3 defaults at big sized TCPWindow. Previous releases (V1 & V2.X) are set at regular size. Official Samsung i780 Roms are set at regular size as well ;)

It may happen sometimes and not limited to V3 only. But it is easy to fix. All you have to do is open Settings - Button and assign the keys to something else first, press OK and then reassign the keys to the shortcut you desire. It will never happen again after that. Hoep this helps

It's a bug in Opera, not this ROM. Opera 9.51b1 will disable notifications on any PocketPC you run it.

BTW, someone asked how to track changes on the registry. I use CeRegEditor (a PC app). Connect your PocketPC to the computer with ActiveSync, run CeRegEditor and connect, take a snapshot, do whatever you need, then compare registry with snapshot.

Forget Opera Mobile 9.51b!!! Use Opera Mini 4.1 instead - much better performance, smaller footprint and no bugs included :D . Opera Mini cab cqn be downloaded on the first page.

You must push Detect Button of the download application before you connect the usb port

Phone Image downloading

The green progress bar is done all the way to the end, maybe missing a last bar so say 96%. It's been stuck like this for a while.


It stopped here while I was flashing the Russian ROM. So is this Russian ROM good for my phone? I am suspicious that it is not compatible with my phone. Mine is a Philippine model.

Any help appreciated. Is it safe to reboot the phone at this point?

Ok, I got the RDFGC buttons working. That's nice coz b4 this I have to take out the stylus to move the cursor.
But for the HTC Modified I can change the theme or icon like in HTC Final.

The problem is caused by USB drivers. Please reinstall your USB Drivers and this time please search for i600 Modem driver for Windows XP. I have encountered this problem before once and it was solved using the correct USB Modem Driver.

PS:
If the USB driver provided in the first page dont work for you. Search for others that can. There's a few type lying around. Just have to keep teting the one that works.

How to know which one will work? Put your i780 in emergency mode and DON'T run Mirage Updater. Plug in your i780 to the USB cable and see if you Windows XP can detect and install the drivers successfully (ususally this will happen the first time you plug in) You can also check Device Manager to see if the i780 is detected.

And yes, at this stage you must consider doing the battery removal and re-insertion everytime you want to flash - just to be sure. Sometimes flashing will not work with shutdown only

I experienced the same things, ha ha ha
I found out that I did not install Samsung USB.
Please check the 1st page for link.
Try again n it's safe to pull the usb,
coz I did and the phone didn't explode

2. Sorry, my knowledge on TCPMP is very limited. I simply use the readily available TCPMP Package from Tomal's V8 Universal rom. I would do something if I know how ;)

Latest Update:

First off, I am writing this based on my scenario, and wanted to share with you guys what I have experienced.

Just 15 minutes, while I was using the phone, it suddenly went dead. Looking at the screen did not show the call was cut off. I did a soft reset , and when the today screen appear, I had lost my touch screen and sound.

I did a couple more soft reset, but unfortunately did not solve the problem, and that left me with no choice. I finally did a hard reset, and I thought that would solve the problem. However, the hard reset did not do the trick. There was no sound and my touch screen was lost. However, mouse pointer was working. I did another hard reset, but still the same situation arises.

Finally, I had no other choice but to revert it back to WM6.0, which fortunately I had downloaded it earlier (thanks to EFN that included the original WM6.0 Rom)

After restoring to WM6, the sound and touch screen came back (whew!!)

Please let me iterate that I am not saying the rom is buggy, in fact more likely that I am fooling around my device too much that may have "broken" the OS.

For those who does experience problems, please do keep the original WM6.0 rom which you can always revert it back.

EFN, thanks for sharing this ROM, it had been a wonderful time for me. Though it did not work out for me, I had learned many new things from you.

Now if only you can teach me how to fish, instead of giving the fish to us... :D

Just 15 minutes, while I was using the phone, it suddenly went dead. Looking at the screen did not show the call was cut off. I did a soft reset , and when the today screen appear, I had lost my touch screen and sound.

I did a couple more soft reset, but unfortunately did not solve the problem, and that left me with no choice. I finally did a hard reset, and I thought that would solve the problem. However, the hard reset did not do the trick. There was no sound and my touch screen was lost. However, mouse pointer was working. I did another hard reset, but still the same situation arises.

Finally, I had no other choice but to revert it back to WM6.0, which fortunately I had downloaded it earlier (thanks to EFN that included the original WM6.0 Rom)

After restoring to WM6, the sound and touch screen came back (whew!!)

Please let me iterate that I am not saying the rom is buggy, in fact more likely that I am fooling around my device too much that may have "broken" the OS.

For those who does experience problems, please do keep the original WM6.0 rom which you can always revert it back.

EFN, thanks for sharing this ROM, it had been a wonderful time for me. Though it did not work out for me, I had learned many new things from you.

Now if only you can teach me how to fish, instead of giving the fish to us... :D

gOOndu I had this happen to me one time on WM 6.0 I tried and tried and still not sure exactly what I did to get it back but I did not reflash the ROM. I think it has something to do with a driver problem, or maybe it could be a hardware problem. All I know is I had the same thing happen to me and I know how you felt and all the nice words that were going through your mind at the time. It might even have something to do with the Wifi problem when you turn off the device it will not come back on. That is using the WiFi.exe program.

You might give it another try.

The problem is caused by USB drivers. Please reinstall your USB Drivers and this time please search for i600 Modem driver for Windows XP. I have encountered this problem before once and it was solved using the correct USB Modem Driver.

Actually I am not so sure if it was a USB driver issue. Should I be able to flash the phone properly if it were a USB driver issue? Because it *did* flash.

I already installed the USB driver on the first page before I started, and yet I got this problem. I have not yet tried to look up another driver to use, but basically what happened was this.

The PDA ROM was updated to the Russian ROM despite that error, but the Phone ROM stayed the same as my old one -- (the error did occur when Mirage was trying to update the Phone ROM). Thankfully the phone ROM wasn't damaged. It seems that the Russian Phone ROM is for CDMA? When I tried to install it WIndows tried to recognize my device as a CDMA device (but failed). Are you guys using CDMA? My phone is GSM and I have a feeling the Russian Phone ROM did not like GSM so it just refused to install. I do not know for sure though. It's pretty weird though regardless.

Anyway, I just took the battery out and rebooted the phone, it started up with the Russian ROM and the tutorial in Russian. I looked at the Version and it showed my phone was still in i780DXHD1 whereas my PDA was updated to the Russian ROM.

I then went into the bootloader again and installed the E1 ROM, which installed fine and for all intents and purposes it looked like my stock D1 ROM. (phone came out of the box with D1).

I then installed your V3 ROM and now my version looks like this:
PDA: i780DXHE1
Phone: i780DXHD1

The phone is currently running with some of the problems EFN mentioned (like off-center messages) but basically it is running perfectly. Actually it is running too much like the original, and even has some of the same problems as the original D1 ROM. The only real changes I am seeing are the HTC Today plugin, the smaller font size and that it is running 6.1, giving me threaded app support.

I still can't run spb Mobile Shell (exact same error - "out of memory" when trying to get to the Now screen and the phone basically hangs at this point) and I still have the same Bluetooth problem my BT Headset always has with Samsung phones (if I turn it on the phone can't find it automatically, I always have to go into BT Settings and set the device as handsfree -- very annoying) and I still can't use the BT Headset to activate MS Voice command.

Other than that, the ROM is great. I would like to customize it to my liking further -- the fonts sort of give me a headache. But I basically have no issues with the ROM -- I do not have some of the problems some people here have like the Function key not displaying the status of the Function on the bottom bar. Mine still works just like the original.

Great job on the ROM again EFN, it works awesome however I am not sure if I have the "correct package" seeing as my Phone ROM did not update.

I think I want to upgrade the Phone ROM it may be what is holding the Bluetooth back.

Is anyone else having problems with their Bluetooth headsets and MS Voice Command 1.6? 6.1 with builds 19200 and up should be able to activate Voice Command properly already with the headset.

And does anyone have a clue how I can upgrade the Phone ROM? The Russian ROM simply did not work for me. Will trying to update the USB drivers fix this? I mean the phone is detected properly in USB.

Manage to get the port splitter to work with Mapking.

Heck, this problem has existed since long before the i780! I had a Samsung Blackjack and it had the same problem. It's a royal pain and one thing that HTC (and pretty much every other Windows Mobile phone manufacturer) has over Samsung. Samsung has the absolute worst Bluetooth support I've seen and I have absolutely never gotten MSVC to work with my headset on a Samsung phone, whereas with registry hacks and eventually ROM flashes I could get all my previous WiMo phones (WM5 and up) to do it.

This is probably the only real dealbreaker for me with this fantastic phone.

My i780 is surely a traditional GSM/3G/HSDPA phone and the Russian rom works like a charm for me. In fact I am astounded how strong the signal is from my i780 specially after upgrading. No sweat at all to maintain full bar where previously on my HTCs and O2s, I will get two or three bars only. Thanks for the input on BTH and VoiceCommand, I have not played with this function yet because personally I don't use them. As far as I can see, Bluetooth works perfectly on the i780 because I use it heavily for my Jabra Handsfree (very responsive) and Internet Sharing over bluetooth with my laptop (in fact I am online most of the time using my i780 V3 with this connection) and V3 rom itself was uploaded to RapidShare THROUGH my i780:D

It's a bug in Opera, not this ROM. Opera 9.51b1 will disable notifications on any PocketPC you run it.

BTW, someone asked how to track changes on the registry. I use CeRegEditor (a PC app). Connect your PocketPC to the computer with ActiveSync, run CeRegEditor and connect, take a snapshot, do whatever you need, then compare registry with snapshot.

The removed dll was also responsible of the battery monitoring, that now is provided by the standard WM6.1 dll, which looks better and has four working bars instead of the previous three.

The 3G and 3G+ icons are changed in U and H, now the tecnology sequence is correct (G->E->U->H) and not the stupid mixed one used by samsung.

The battery meter icons are coloured (green,yellow,red) to give a more rapid feedback on the battery status.

The download link is inside the attacched .txt file.

Exactly.

The ICS works well via BT but the bandwith is limited just above 1Mbps (here in italy the speed of the HSDPA networks is from 2 to 3 MBps).

Via USB the connection is faster but is unreliable if the connected PC is running XP, and absolutely unusable using Vista.

Sadly, if the PC runs linux, the connection is very stable, so seems that the cuplrits are the Windows drivers and NOT the WM6 drivers.

For the instance the situation was the same with the treo 750.


For the moment the only workaround is the ICS via WIFI, using some hacks or WMwifirouter.

I think you should straight away flash to Ver 3.1 after you Flashed Russian, Eng. No need to Flash Ver 1 or 2 or 2.1 or 3 as the latest one already fixed all bugs n troubles everybody faced before.

I have loaded the latest 6.1 v 3.1s and so far this is great. Will continue testing and report back.

I really like the new status indicator for battery and 3g.
I have tested this with Windows Live & wifi and GPRS all work with no problems.
There is no missing icon problems in this version.
Opera mini works really fast. Although I like the zoom and look of the regular Opera mobile 9.5 I think I will wait until they work all there bugs out. Opera mini uses only a fraction of the RAM that Opera Mobile does.
As with V3 I think my battery life has improved with these new ROM's.

The only thing I wish is that there could be a fix placed in the ROM for S2P. I have not installed it on this ROM yet but I suspect it will be the same as V3. And require the installation of RealVGA and change to 128 dpi install S2P then back to 96dpi. I really don't understand why this is. On my factory E1 WM6 ROM I had realVGA installed at 96dpi and installed with no problem at d6dpi.

A lot of people use S2P as it uses much less RAM than WMP.

Keep up the good work. My simple basic setup while I'm developing other apps & skins.

after intalling v3 and v3.1s I realized my weather tab is not working anymore.

after the flash my internet connection with ORANGE gets set up fine automatically and I can browse the internet, internet sharing works as well etc.
basically everything needing data works, just the weather tab always says "unable to retrieve data for selected city".

any ideas?

v3.0 worked for me, but when i flashed 3.1 i have no phone radio. Any ideas?

Also, I heard that this is the same chipset as the Blackjack II / i617 which is a quad band device. Perhaps samsung did what HTC did with the Diamond initially, switching off the fourth band, but recently it was hacked here to work on XDA then released officially by HTC. Anyone know how to see if our device is actually quad band and to get it to work?

Congratulations! For the extra icons you will need to download battery status program, you can find it here or just google it. I used a theme from slick and adapted it to fit the I780. I will try to get it together and post it here. Be patient when I have time.

Thanks for your ROM, I may have crashed my i780 but it's not gonna stopped me from installing your ROM again.

As Bob has said, there is a wifi activation program that may be the cause of it. And I have use another alternative as substitution. Let's keep my fingers crossed... :)

For me it is not so much about the threaded sms, but overall performance had been boosted. Seems faster, and people are reporting better battery performance...

Thanks for your ROM, I may have crashed my i780 but it's not gonna stopped me from installing your ROM again.

As Bob has said, there is a wifi activation program that may be the cause of it. And I have use another alternative as substitution. Let's keep my fingers crossed... :)

For me it is not so much about the threaded sms, but overall performance had been boosted. Seems faster, and people are reporting better battery performance...

Personally I myself am amazed that this cooked rom turned out to be quite a stable performer. I have cooked on three different pdas before and not one of them can really match the level of success like what I got from i780 cooking - of course it's not perfect but hey what is? ;)

At the rate we are going, I am not surprised that by the time Samsung released their official WM 6.1, we would have been so far ahead that it's gonna be a tough decision to choose which one to use.....

Congratulations! For the extra icons you will need to download battery status program, you can find it here or just google it. I used a theme from slick and adapted it to fit the I780. I will try to get it together and post it here. Be patient when I have time.

That's one of the major setback of rom upgrading...whatever you install and configure that's not part of the rom will have to be reinstalled all over again. Unfortunately, to go from V3.0 to V3.1s, it's like starting all over again.

As for backup and restore, I recommend that this practice be limited to restoring PIMs (calls, mails, sms, speed dials, calendar etc). It is best that restore does not include programs because it can change the behaviour of that particular build. You can always use the PPCPIMBackup which is included with all releases of this rom to perform your backup, I have personally ditched my SPB Backup in favor of this one because it's so effective.

My i780 is surely a traditional GSM/3G/HSDPA phone and the Russian rom works like a charm for me. In fact I am astounded how strong the signal is from my i780 specially after upgrading. No sweat at all to maintain full bar where previously on my HTCs and O2s, I will get two or three bars only. Thanks for the input on BTH and VoiceCommand, I have not played with this function yet because personally I don't use them. As far as I can see, Bluetooth works perfectly on the i780 because I use it heavily for my Jabra Handsfree (very responsive) and Internet Sharing over bluetooth with my laptop (in fact I am online most of the time using my i780 V3 with this connection) and V3 rom itself was uploaded to RapidShare THROUGH my i780:D


Well that is mighty strange, why was I having problems updating the Russian Phone ROM then? Was it really the USB driver? If it were I shouldn't have been able to update the rest of the phone, right?

This i780 surely has some great radio components. It has a far stronger WiFi radio than my iPod Touch, when I go to the bathroom a few rooms from the router the Touch nods off but the i780 still has 2 bars in its WiFi signal.

The GSM/3G signal is also strong, as expected from Samsung. I had the same powerful signal on my Blackjack, put my Atom and Jasjar to shame.

Regarding the bluetooth headsets, I have a feeling that Samsung is picky about using name-brand BT Headsets. I have an Omiz BT headset which is practically an OEM and it has issues working with the i780. It also had issues with the Blackjack. This headset works perfectly with every other PPC I have used such as the Jasjar, the Atom, the Mini and even the iPaq 6365.

On the other hand I have another BT stereo headset from Logitech which detects properly with both upon turning on, no problems. I get the feeling if I used a Jabra or some other more "known" headset the phone wouldn't be so finnicky.

On the other hand the Voice Command function is still not working properly, if I could get that to work that's really all I need from the phone. You should try it! Voice Command is wonderful especially when driving. Also if you commute in dangerous areas it is best not to put your phone out, it's incredibly convenient to have your phone in your bag or pocket, and only fish out your headset if you need to take or initiate a call. Now if only Samsung could fix this bluetooth issue and let us activate Voice Command via bluetooth!

If you are going from 2.0 to 2.1 or from 3.0 to 3.1, you can safely follow the way of full backup and restore.

By the way people under v3 the fonts and stuff are a little too small for me, and it's hard to press precisely on smaller tabs/scrollbars/buttons with my fingers. Is there a way to make it larger like the original e1 ROM? I tried using RealVGA and used the 128dpi setting but it was horrible, only two columns for icons in the menus and other graphical glitches.

I am not sure if has been discussed in this thread already, if so please point me to how to fix it. Thanks

I have one problem with it, Although the volume levels for bluetooth handset and speaker are ok, i would like to raise them, there is a tool which is accessed with this code: *#0002*28346# which is used to raise volume levels for BT speaker and handset, as far as I remember even on EFN v2.1 it was still working but on v3 (havn't tried 3.1 yet but according to change log it's almost the same), the tool is broken, it starts with many empty fields and it doesn't save any changes.


Tested on v3.1s and everything is ok, no corruption in fields, sound is loud and clear as setted by me.

The 3G and 3G+ icons are changed in U and H, now the tecnology sequence is correct (G->E->U->H) and not the stupid mixed one used by samsung.

Just an update,

Because I wanted to have S2P, I have installed RealVGA, and both the 128dpi and 96dpi pack. Take note that you will not be able to cleanly uninstall 96dpi (since you are in the 96dpi mode). Also while S2P now works, the color of the battery indicator is completely gone. It is now purely white. Still had the new signals and 4-bar battery though....

Is there a chance that we can modify the dll for realvga and install a cab to correct this. I have not installed realvga yet and may hold off now until we can resolve the problem with S2P. I really like S2P as it only uses a small amount of RAM compared to WMP 30+ mb RAM.

Also installed Wisbar advance 3, works great with this version of WM.
I have no one big battery bar on the top of my screen show the status of the battery in color.

Runs very smooth and fast, just looks like i can't connect to messenger anymore.

Hey no worries, just look a few pages earlier and you should find a fix cab for Windows Live. But actually I never had any problem witn MSN Messenger because I am always on HSDPA 3G for connectivity ;)

Seems like you ran into the same problem I did. I was able to update the PDA ROM to the Russian one, but not the Phone ROM. You then upadted the PDA to E1, then to V3 resulting in that current version.

In practice this is all good, no problems occur from that. I don't know what is up with Messenger though. Are you able to connect to Messenger when you are near a WiFi hotspot?

Yes it is a strange problem. Have tried everything but always with the same result, the mouse stops working. With the complete E1 in Russian it works, but then with D1 or E1 in English it stops. Must have something to do with different models - my is a Swedish

Try this, it's my exported registry (only relevant keys) after running the tool .. this might help with the missing entries and I've boosted some values (such as BT TX, RX ..). Not sure IF it will help, so try at your own risk ;)

Tried the CAB file at night, the volume values seemd ok, then at morning found out bluetooth sets don't work (not in my car or my ear headset) even uninstalling the CAB didn't work (although the values returned to previouse)

Well it was opertunity instead of just hard resetting to install 3.1s :)
on 3.1s the volume level utility works great out of the box, amplified the volume and life is good once again :)

I have a small prblem, I have hebrew on my device with 3rd pary application the Sans Serif are much better then Tahoma but they don't display hebrew (only empty squere for each letter) any advice? how do i check different fonts? or is there a way to increase size of the tahoma fonts?

Yes and it is a shame. I flashed the 3.1 rom and tested it with the stylus and the rom is very nice compared to the stock 6.0 rom. Would love to be able to run it with a working mouse and d-pad

with the HHC u can download some applications.
I installed the audio manager and i think it use less battery than windows media player.

The other applications: HTC Album, Sprint, Task Manager and StreamingMedia dont work:(

No specifics were given about what feature will be added, but at least it's still in progress.

Related to this is ASUS' decision not to launch a significant part of its upcoming WM6 portfolio in Singapore. We were told by the Taiwan-based company that the P560, M536, P550 and even the Lamborghini co-branded ZX1 will not be available for the island-state. We are awaiting a response regarding the rest of Asia Pacific and will provide an update once that's available.

Thanks for the support guys. But please be reminded that any rom Samsung release for i780 will surely be running 128DPI. The bad news for us who like 96DPI is that because i780 was designed specifically for 128DPI, changing it to 96DPI will result in off centered pop ups still.

And yes I am very keen on getting a proper WM6.1 XIP for my cooking base :)

If GPRS/EDGE/HSDPA is ACTIVE all the time then this is normal.. using EDGE, my mobile also gets warm, be it with the official ROM's or EFN's ROM's.

Hi, I replied to your other thread here. (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=2467077#post2467077) I think you need to dump the ROM in order for it to be used as opposed to just making a backup :)


On another note I'm on Orange in the UK and using V2.1s (need to get time to move to V3.1s) and the connection APN had defaulted to orangewap and I was experiencing flaky exchange connectivity I added the orangeinternet APN and it has been stable since.

Hope this is a help to any other Orange users.

That doesn't sound right. I have owned my i780 for about a week now and all I can say is the battery life is phenomenal thus far. I mean I am not using 3G but I use WiFi a good portion of the day. My phone was at 50% after about 32 hours and that was with a lot of WiFi surfing, calls, and fiddling with the phone because it's still new and fun to play with it. That's amazing since with most other PPCs and my typical usage habits the battery goes down to 50% after just 18 hours or so.

I also once accidentally left it on EDGE the entire night when I slept, and when I woke up the connection was going at 7 hours and 38 minutes, yet the battery was still near 100%, I mean wow. I know I wasn't actually doing anything with the phone but usually I get like 10% drain overnight with other PPCs, this one had EDGE on and still had barely any drain.

It's also interesting to note that even with WiFi on the phone never got hot like some of my previous PPCs. It was just a slight tinge warm but well within expectations.

Seems like you ran into the same problem I did. I was able to update the PDA ROM to the Russian one, but not the Phone ROM. You then upadted the PDA to E1, then to V3 resulting in that current version.

In practice this is all good, no problems occur from that. I don't know what is up with Messenger though. Are you able to connect to Messenger when you are near a WiFi hotspot?


i had the same issue first but to update the phone u have to choose the bin file in the PHONE in mirage and then u have to load the PDA part on mirage... its a two step process... i have been able to load the phone and PDA both after a while...

I would like to ask about the battery life after upgrade V3. My i780 battery life only can use one day. I have use push email and only 10 call per day. Is it normal? Also feel the machine quiet warm. Any person same as me?


its a bit hotter but battery life is great last me 2 days some time if i dont abuse calls, SMS, and Wifi.. must turn off the bluetooth and wifi when not using.. my car stereo is the handsfree so i turn on the bluetooth and when i get out i turn it off..

Yes and it is a shame. I flashed the 3.1 rom and tested it with the stylus and the rom is very nice compared to the stock 6.0 rom. Would love to be able to run it with a working mouse and d-pad

Yes, I also tried to flash the 3.1 and it's really great. But go back to C4 again because of this issue. Maybe there's corruption in the registry or driver for the d-pad. I hope someone could help us.

Thanks to Mehamrick, now we have a full dump of the OFFICIAL Samsung SCH-M480 WM6.1 rom extracted from his phone.

Now I will need some time to reconstruct the raw dump files and hope to be able to construct a flashable English WM6.1 out of it.

The first goal will be to reconstruct a flashable rom which will not contain any modifications other than MUI change from Korean to English. Mehamrick need this for his Korean CDMA SCH-M480.

Next using the available components, I will construct WWE WCDMA SGH-i780 version which will the base of my upcoming V4 release (hopefully)

It's weird that any request to live.com domain was rejected no matter which connection method I was using. It affect both activesync connection, wifi and gprs(edge). I think there might be some domain locker within this ROM.

Anyone else has the same issue?

I'm not sure, but I believe sch-m480 uses wm6.1 and is a cousin of the i780. Perhaps EFN will be able to check it out.

Chances are that it should be based on 128dpi. :)

Just wait patiently for EFN. If it is too small, just flash it back to WM6 at this moment.:)

i found a big bug (for me)
i have parrot CK 3000 Evolution in car (BT), and work good (not much for audio but work) but if i start a gps program iGo or TTM7, after few minutes if i make a call, i hear other people but other dont hear me, and if a drop down call, new call have same problem immediatly, only think do to is soft reset, BT work ok till start navigator...
same in 3.0 or 3.1

have you tried going into programs ? all the icons show up in 2 rows on the left leaving a big gap on the right. the HTC com manager is totaly out of preportion at 128dpi, infact nothing sits really well.

I sincerely wish I can help you with the port splitter but my own knowledge in this area is very limited as well.

If you want java just install the Opera Mini cab posted on the first page because it contains Esmertec Java which is very light and nice

Do a test. Save a flv file on your i780 and try to click on it directly and see if Youtube or TCPMP Player can play it automatically. Else you can assign Youtube player as the default player in the settings of YouTubePlay

Progress update:

The SCH-M480 rom has been converted into a flashable format but it failed to boot properly on my i780. Further investigations revealed that some components in the OEMDrivers section of the rom does not want to load WM6.1 - I think this may be a fact that SCH-M480 is a pure CDMA phone and i780 is WCDMA.

But there's still a lot to salvage on some of the drivers...

I don't have 3.1s but the original V3 .. but I recon the GPS works the same. In TT you HAVE to set the SAME baud-rate (4800) as in the External GPS settings. Sometime, it can take around 4-5mins to get a fix. To speed up, use Enhanced GPS - with this, I get a fix in 10-60 seconds!

That screen is only possible on HTC Athena, HTC Shift or HTC Universal at the very least. And I know the screenshot is actually from HTC Athena which comes with it.

But may also run on Diamond I believe since Diamond is 480X640

I have been using version 3.1s now for a few days and I can say my device is much faster. Very noticeable when accessing the Today plugins. Now it only takes about 3-5 sec to open Today items. Before it took forever. Startup is also much faster.

Even though there are still small issues it's well worth using this ROM
