Yes, you can flash eBoot + Phone + PDA at one time. Just make sure you selected the right one.


Note:
Some i780 models from certain countries seem to be built differently from other i780. And since the rom that I am working on is based on DX (Asian) models, some odd behaviours are expected if you phone is not natively from DX series.

Before I set about applying this ROM image to my i780, I wanted to check the following:

(1) Has anyone tried this on an UK Orange branded i780 (my current ROM version is i780BVGK3)

(2) Will this allow me to access the "Alternate Line Service"/"Orange Line 2"?

(Orange advertise Line 2 as a feature on the business version of the i780, so the phone can definitely do it but then unhelpfully disable it on the consumer version)

I also have the same problem that sayuntu had of the Phone part of the flashing just not installing... it says that its trying to open Port 0 and then tries about 20 times and gives up. Should ActiveSync be enabled or not? I have tried both the USB connection in ActiveSync allowed and not but still no luck... any ideas would be appreciated! Thanks

It depends actually. I personally like V3.3XGr in the V3 series. It's the most stable to date. V4 is here because now we have HH1 which is a huge step from E1. We hope that HH1 will be friendlier to Vista because 3.3XGr is not.

Ok, here's my suggestion. Sometimes a Hard Reset after flashing can help with certain errors. Try this and see how it goes.

Another option is to run USB mode without Advanced Network Functionality. On my own Vista, I removed WMDC 6.1 completely/reboot and then reinstall WMDC.

As for the bluetooth, if you can use the sync option, this has got to do with the BT pairing which sometimes will fail even if the partnership is established. make sure you create a partnership with Passkey.

I am synching full time using BT now because it will work all the time.

First are you on XP or Vista? Mirage has been known to have problems on Vista.

This error is caused by mirage not detecting the modem driver. Try uninstalling the modem driver, I think it might be able to be removed from control panel remove software. And uninstall Activesync. Make sure you have Active sync 4.5. Reinstall activesync and Modem driver. Disable usb connections in activesync. When you plug your phone in a new hardware window should come up and it should find the driver and in the status tray should show it is connected to your phone model not active sync. If it does the driver is working. Try to run mirage again. I hope it works.

There's something u can try. Go to the DXHH1 thread in this forum and download the full IMG file which will flash your i780 in all three areas. Once successful then u can flash the PDA part only with V4.0 series.

Maybe this is the reason why Samsung is delaying the release of the official WM6.1 - they are stuck as well with Vista USB compatibility

If you can run the PDA + eBoot on HH1 and Phone on PUHE1, I think that's quite a progress. The key thing is you are getting the things you like.

Use them ONLY if you have problem with GoogleMaps. They are different GPS drivers from DXHE1 and SCH-M480. DXHH1 has its own drivers

That's one limitation with 96DPI. Most 96DPI device are on 240X320 resolution while i780 is on 320X320. So the 96DPI keyboard is actually running in landscape mode and I have no idea how to expand it further:o

To flash version V4 using mirage and phone with installed v3.4 (phone PUHE1) i should:
Assign "i780 eBoot Upgrade ROM DXHH1.nb0" to Bootloader
Assign "i780 Phone Upgrade ROM DXHH1.bin" to Phone
Assign "i780_PDA_Upgrade_WM6.1 Ultimate EFV4.0.U.bin" to PDA section

I have had this issue since saturday when i tried to reflash the 3.4 ultimate and wm 6.1. The eboot just does not work. i ended up flashing the 3.4 u and the wm6.1. Any clues?

1. cannot sync with Vista (not every time but many times)
2. find wifi ap but cannot connect (after several soft resets, the problem goes away)

found the error. Was using wm5newmenu and the shortcut there was pointing to hte "000-youtubeplay.exe" in the windows directory.

hello.. just wanted to say I've flashed v4 on Vista - if you don't have time to reinstall your OS just install VMWARE trial version and install WinXP as guest OS, launch the guest OS in FULL SCREEN mode, install Active Sync 4.5 and load up Mirage and away you go... flashed no problems, working good so far

i had installed the v4 128dpi
and i faced the following problems:
1- problems with sync sometimes
2- can not recieve bluetooth files from my pc
3- sms recieved in the indox doesnt show contact names its only show numbers with international code which make the threaded sms does not work since the sent msgs show the contact name and the recieved does not, so it could recognize that it is from the same user and put it in thread mode

After replacing the sound drivers I have sounds and wifi (so cool).
My first attempt for sync with vista was nul. I remove from the computer the WMDC update and the USB samsung driver and the second try was a success (so so cool).

I have H1 original with win mobile 6 and the gps fix is very very slow... somtime gps never fix until reboot... it seems that gps driver isn't good... EFN what do u think about?

great rom.... i had to flash it few times as it stoped at the eboot few times... i dont use GPS so i dont know...

i tried the SPB mobile shell 2.1 and i followed all the instructions it did not work for me... and i have to load the ne w dialer as well as the dialer was the old dialer some how..

It's not an old dialer. It.s the latest one from HH1 ROM and native to 128DPI. Loading other dialer actuallly means you are downgrading the telephony to older model before HH1. Nadavi 3G dialer is from C1 version.

The GPS works for me. Garmin Mobile XT works on COM1 with XTRA disabled.

Yes, for some the H1 GPS driver is not as good as E1. That's why I included two different GPS drivers cab to revert to E1 GPS files. Or you can also try SCH-M480 drivers which could be good as well

Great Work EFN!!

I updated my dutch i780 with 3.4u and HH1 (eboot/phone/pda) and everything is working like a charm!

I had only one minor issue, namely that updating the firmware only worked the following way:

1. Put Mirage in detect mode
2. Put usb cable in I780 and PC.
3. Turn off/on the I780

The alt+enter way didn't work anymore (before it always did)

Actually V4 was built to cater for a more VISTA friendly synch. I was hoping that using the HH1 build and drivers the USB sync issue will be resolved but alas the problem is still there even if it's not as problematic with V3.4.U.

So I recommend that if you are happy with 3.4.U, stick with it because other than the OEMDrivers and some minor changes here and there, 3.4.U and 4.0.U is very similar

V4.0.U uses native HH1 3G dialer skins dll file. V3.4.U uses Nadavi 3G dialer and unless you are a heavy 3G Video Call user, the improvements will be marginal.

Hey EFN! Great job! I flashed my phone to the latest version. I'm using the standard 128 and everything works fine so far. I thought the new GPS driver would help my TomTom but that was not true. Even in this ROM I had to wait like 30 minutes to catch up with satellites, so I just dropped the idea and installed the Port Splitter, and it works fine :)

I wonder what did Samsung do with their GPS! It seems that the packets received from the GPS and redirected to the navigation program are so small or so large that TomTom cannot decrypt at first glance, but Port Splitter does the trick perfectly. Of course, this has nothing to do with this ROM!

I tried the wireless connection as well, and I had the same irritating issue I had with the original Italian Samsung ROM. That is, when I connect to a wireless point that has Internet connection and start Internet Explorer, it starts my provider's GPRS connection rather than going through the wireless. So I had to modify the connection settings, and now it is working fine :)

Vista syncing still abit of an issue for me, BT or USB.

found a workaround though. Just close WMDC and reopen, if you get dropped connections or errors and it'll work again.

After syncing i usually just close wmdc to make things easier for me

After you flash your mobile, and if you want to use TomTom, you HAVE to do the following (just one time):

START -> SETTINGS -> SYSTEM -> External GPS, change the port to COM8 see image below:

If the mix and match is so good, I really wonder when Samsung releases the official 6.1 rom, I might have a ferrari engine in a Japanese car.

As to the Nadavi 3g dialer, I tried many ways to update the dll files, but unfortunately do not have any success. The dailer just did not changed I hope you have better success than moi. :D

you should try AEKmap. Thats what I use for my German Keyboard.

News from my GPS problem. I have strong problems to get satelittes with the full package DXHH1 with V4U from EFN.
I tested many different PDA and Phone Versions with the V4U but no luck with GPS.
Portsplitter also doenst work, somtimes hi found outgoing ports and sometimes not.
Now i found the german BHHF1 in another thread here. And this Rom works fantastic with GPS!!! I get a compl. fix within 2 min. behind a window (no extra GPS!)! WOW, no other Rom founds satelittes so fast and get a fix.
Other Roms need a the same position behind my window over 10 min., with the V4u i get no fix, i must go outside and wait 5-10 min.

But its only WM6 :( I love the EFN´s Roms but i need GPS very often. EFN, can you make a mix of BHHF1 GPS part and your great V4u?

I tested the spb mobile shell and it is working. It should work with all roms, provided you use ms spb2.1 build 3363. Any other versions later than build 3363 will not work at 96dpi.

Also, if you use 128dpi as your default resolution, then any version later than the build 3363 should work.

I don't think it is the rom version. It could be a certain combination of usage (example, wifi on and also you are on the phone) that might have caused this. The previous roms do not have this issue is perhaps you have not have a combination of usage that causes this at that point of time.

I have encountered no touchscreen before, and even hard reset does not solve my problem, until I flashed back to WM6.0. Later realise that there are some software that are quite sensitive, though on its own, they function well.

Right now happy with the V4U. :)

I have a weird connection problem since 3.3XG:

every application works fine when accessing the internet by means of 3G, except netfront 3.5CV. it gives me a TCP error.
if i disconnect the cellular data, and let netfront connect himself, it works perfectly well.

now i have the problem, that internet sharing doesn't work either. somehow i think the problem is related. because when i connect my PC to my i780 by means of bluetooth PAN, the PC reports the network connection as local only, and i cannot access the net from the PC. but the i780 also doesn't try to build up a connection, it seems.

I only have a single connection in the settings, altough the automatically generated o2 settings (generated by the operator settings thingy, i dont use o2 but three) are there too, but disabled in advanced config.

can somebody help me on this? it worked nicely up to version 3.4. I am on 4 U now and use a Vista PC, but i think this shouldn't matter with a PAN.

1) I have installed MSN Messenger , it function very well under 3G/HSDPA network BUT not function under WiFi , why??

The only difference is that my bluetooth is turned on over night. BTW the shut down happened somewhere after 2am in the morning. becos that is the last time, I received a mail in my pda. Will monitor further and if needed, then i do a hard reset and reinstall all my apps all over again.

I too have problem with the GPS on v4 rom, yesterday managed to get it work on COM4, but I supposed that will hamper the 3G connection right ?

I too have problem with the GPS on v4 rom, yesterday managed to get it work on COM4, but I supposed that will hamper the 3G connection right ?

It says there is no need to have port splitter or GPS gate to get the GPS working. Again I am not sure about the 3G connection thingy.

If HH1 Radio is not working well it is possible to run PUHE1 or DXHE1 on the Phone part only. Just flash the full IMG of PUHE1 and then flash only PDA part with V4

I think HH1 Radio is not so friendly with some GPS apps

So I have installed this update and everything worked fine except for the phone portion, pda and loader installed without a problem. I have reviewed this thread and installed all modems out there and am still experiencing problems installing the phone portion. I have installed the following modem drivers, and each one said that the driver installed successfully:

Samsung_USB_Driver_Installer
MCCI WHQL Modem Driver 4.40.7
Samsung_USB_Driver_MCCI_4.34_WHQL_v3.4

When I check on the device to see if I have modem available as an option...it is not listed only activesync and mass storage are listed.

Each time I tried the installation Activesync is disabled.

After selecting detect and then connecting the phone it will recognize the device but then the phone turns off and it will not install and I get the kw.kim retry messages. I have tried just a regular restart and the method where you hold down the function and return button, no success.

When I go to wireless manager on the device bluetooth and Wifi work fine its the phone that does not turn on...do I need to unlock something or install a cab on the device that will install a modem? Why doesnt Mirage complete the phone loader? What do I need to do to get the software to install properly?

Any assistance would be appreciated.

I believe your i780 will run better with the PUHE1 + V3.4.U. The main difference between V3.4 and the V4.0 is the base rom file. V3.4 on DXHE1 and V4.0 on DXHH1.

You should use the Standard V4.0 if you want to use Port Splitter. The Ultimate version will not work with Port Splitter

By defaullt i780 has a bug with led notifications. 4.0.U has Zinyee Notif blinker loaded by default on startup. All you need to do next is to configure blinking option in Settings - Sounds & Notifications to use Led blinking :)

COM8 + ENABLE XTRA and keep the unit outside as long as it takes to get green bars :D (could take up to 20 mins the first time)

Worst case, try installing the clean version (96dpi). And check out garmin. it should work fine. hope this helps. :)

O.K just went to fetch my phone outside....still only 2 reb bars signal doesn't get to green....it has been outside for allmost 5 hours. Tommorrow will try to install the clean 96 version and see if it works...crap this is annoying. I'll just wait for EFN with the German GPS cab file. Hope that will cure the problem.

For the very first lock, you will need a good clear view of the sky. If you're in the midst of tall buildings (like I am), it may not lock at all as the visibility of signals from the satellites is not consistent. Take it to a open field or park. You should be able to get a lock within 5-10 minutes with XTRA turned on.

True, but I think there must be another issue causing this on Boerseun23's i780 when it still didn't got a fix after five hours under open air. Directly after flashing to v4U I got a 3D-Fix within five seconds with XTRA turned on - just standing in front of an open window (Garmin XT on a german i780).

Do to the people having trouble I decided last night to install my garmin to test it. I started the program and I could see it searching for satellites so I clicked on the signal indicator taking you to the GPS page and clicked on the info tab to see the satellite strength and numbers. I then with program still open clicked start button, system, Extra GPS and activated it, got passed warning screen. Switched back to garmin XT and I had a 3d fix. Now I was indoors on the second floor with 2 windows in the room. Could not have taken more than 1 minute to get a fix.

So I'm not sure what is happening with others and their devices but mine is working just fine.

Thanks EFN.:D Just to be sure the eboot + phone you are talking about is the Russian version....the first one we installed? I will reflash today and only install the pda part of V4 U. Maybe that will help. Thanks to everybody that gives comments and try to help one another. Really great to be on this forum, where people actually try to help eachother.

O.k just reflashed....phone is now Puh or something version and pda DHH1. Turned Extra on with downloading enabled aswell. Turned GPS to Com8 and left the hardware at com9 with 4800. Turned on GarminXT straight away got the 2 redbars....so now I will leave it a while and see what happens.

I have DXHH1 flashed with eboot+pda+phone and I'm not having this issues.
GPS works with IGO8 on COM4 -the only thing is that I can not see the sattelites in the GPS radar,but it connects quite fast after first time.

after the problems with H1 (boot and radio) + V.4 i decided to downgrade the pda part to the original E1... now it seems all right... tomtom and igo8 fix fastly and i havn't problems with other applications... You think this marriage with H1(radio and phone) + E1 original PDA rom is safe?

Hey good for u. I am back with PUHE1 as well. For me DXHH1 gives more "issues" than good. Performance wise I think both are similar is just that DXHE1 is a lot predictable and less problematic:cool:

No. I will not be releasing the German GPS cab because installing GPS drivers through cabs seems to break the GPS system even more.

If you want to get good GPS working on WM6.1, please use PUHE1 radio instead

For me, the combination of DXHH1 Radio/Eboot and the german BHHF1 PDA (thanks to EFN!!!) works best with GPS. No other Rom has an faster fix!!

for example can we use a 8GB MicroSD with I780?

Hmmm... v4.0 has a weird bug that doesn't allow me to use Wi-Fi for internet access. Even after Wi-Fi is connected, it keeps initiating a GPRS connection to download data. Doesn't bother me much since I don't surf on the mobile phone, but thought it's good to provide some feedback.

yes u can.. use sandisk micro sdhc 8gb class 6 works perfectly

i could surf with no problem on WIFI. am on v.40U.

no need install the fix. just go to Setting -> Button and reassign it.
