Thank you for your 4.U it works fine on my unit, no bugs. Upgraded my factory rom (i780BSHD3) with i780DXHH1 img first then changed pda part to 4U.

I am testing to see which build performs the best on i780. SCH-M480 full build is also being tested.

So out of the four build, I will soon release V4.X with full XIPs (Pure Windows Mobile 6.1 boot section).

I have reverted to DXHE1 as my base because it presented less challanges compared to DXHH1. Also the builds mentioned above has shown great synergy with WMDC Vista USB syc with no errors. Stay tuned :D

Please also somehow test the battery performance. It seems to be that the custom builds (based on HTC stuff) seem to have much better battery life than the stock Samsung WM 6.0 ROMs (even with applied power saving tweaks)

i have downgraded from "DXHH1 + v4.0U" to "PUHE1 + v3.4U" and now:

1) MSN Messenger works perfectly in WiFi and in 3G :)
2) tomtom7 works perfectly, fixed in 2 minutes, without other programs :D
3) Perfectly synchronize with Vista :)

what other to write ?...........Nothing! it's all perfect!

Here another happy user of your custom roms, so first of all I want to thank you for all the effort you put into designing these roms!

I just read you are developing a new rom and I wondered if you are going to incorporate the new Flash Lite 3.1 in this rom?

I ask this because I think I read somewhere it is only compatible with a certain version of Opera Mobile (and up I assume). So this would mean you are forced to put this version of Opera Mobile also on the rom (and take up precious rom space) to make use of this new Flash Lite version.

If you don't cook it in the new rom, could you possibly leave out Flash Lite 2.1 aswell? Because if Flash Lite 2.1 is embedded in the rom, we can't make use of Flash Lite 3.1 (and watch all the little youtube videos directly in the brower and rub this in the face of our annoying iPhone cousins :p).

I don't know if you already thought about this and by any means do as you please, it is just a question :).

I am using 3.4U, i780DXHE1 phone pda and i780PUHE1.

From i780 Tweaks info, "To install SIPs which are not English, need to change to Tahoma." So, I changed the Font to Tahoma and installed Samsung Chinese Input ok. However, IE no longer display Chinese after installing the Tahoma Font. OperaMini is ok.

Any idea?

I like 3.3xx better. I'll flash back to E1 & 3.3xx soon to solve sync problem with vista. I've seen many sync problems between wm6.1 and vista but not an effective fix yet.

In other words, when I send a mail the email is sent normaly, but it stays on my I780 outbox and the message will keep on being sent every couple of minutes!
If any body has infos or suggestions on how to fix this, I will be really thankful

just wanna post my open issues for your next ROMs, because there were also some others experienced that:

1) I still have no chance to connect with my Vista Mobile Center (on two PC's). It tries to connect, after that It seems that a connection is established because Jeyo Mobile pulls SMS off the phone. But the connection breaks some seconds later.

2) The message button Fix via cab had no effect on the problem that hitting the message button the failure message appears:
"Shortcut Target
Error opening the shortcut or locationg the target filename."

3) I often have the problem, that sound for incoming emails doesn't work when phone is in standby. If i push the on/off button the sound runs immediately. Sometimes also only vibration runs in standby and after reactivation phone the sound runs. Very strange...

Hope these essential points 1 and 3 will be fixed on upcoming ROMs...

I have done about 60% of the theme conversion (All credit goes to our SPB MS Skinner Guru, Greatbal).

There are still several issues need to be resolved:

In the Home Screen, under Professional Settings, the Appointment does not show. Spent most of my time to resolve this, but still with no success. May have to think on how to resolve this.

Icons are not showing at this moment, but will be doing up the icons this weekend, and hopefully I can get it working by next week.

Background will be done up as well. This should be easy. :)

Currently my 780 is under the control of "Plain vanilla" @ 128 dpi + SPB Mobile Shell.

If you are using V4.0.U, you can restore the theme by selecting Default Theme in Today settings. Then you can restore the color by running Black Scheme in i780 Tweaks folder ;)

The issue is if your email exchange server is upgraded to 2007 then you will have the problem, otherwise there is no incompatibility between WM 6.1 and Microsoft exchange server (<2007). Hey guys, been on here a little while just lurking and reading the threads and I love the place. I love what you guys are doing and I recenlty upgraded my i780 to the V4 cooked ROM. Everything went through and loving the new upgrade. I do have an issue though.

My Active Sync on my phone gets kinda funky. I've synched everything onto our Exchange server using Active Sync push. I get all my emails and contacts fine, but when I reply to emails, the Acitve Sync kicks in and then a blank white screen pops up and the only options that show up are the keyboard in the bottom middle and the top tool bar. I can either hit the X to exit or hit the OK button to cancel out of it. It seems to work as far as sending the email, but then it looks like it gets stuck in the Outbox and everytime the Active sync kicks in on the phone, I get the blank white screen again and then it keeps resending the email.

Did I miss a patch? Background on my phone;

-Not sure where it was originally from to be honest, never checked. Purchased from ebay first month of release
-Phone is unlocked and I'm using AT&T/Cingular as my network
-Using Exchange 2003 connecting to webmail2 as the server
-Version on the phone is;
PDA: I780DXHH1
PHONE: I780DXHH1

I updated the PDA part of this with one of the bigger buttons and stuff (forgot name of cab), before updating to V4 and it was working fine.

Need your guidance. Thanks in advance!


EDIT: I guess i should add that I'm also getting an error or Action Required from my Active sync on my laptop
"You have stopped synchronization. Support Code: 8500200e"
Searched for the code (http://www.chicagotech.net/exchange/activesynccodes.htm) and it's;

"8500200E
A failure occurred on the device that is not indicated to the user. "

Sometimes I don't get the "Action Required" message on the laptop and it looks like it synched perfectly fine. Is it the phone or is it Exchange server and WM6.1? Thanks.

Looks like it's the phone based on the error code. I changed the PDA version and still got the same issue;
PDA: I780 DXHE1
PHONE: I780DXHH1

Looks like I'm going to need back reving. What Loader was solid prior to DXHH1?

Ok, flashed the phone with the russian rom (PUHE1) and then powered it up. looked like it took but since i can't read russian, i couldnt test it. i then ran;
PDA: I780DXHH1
PHONE: I780DXHH1
and it's the same issue. I think the white screen that pops up is part of the "Message Sent" or confirmation that the sync has finished or something, but it still shows up and still broken on that end.
Next steps 1) try looking for the registry fix that stops the "Message Sent" from appearing or 2) try an T-mobile SIM which I'm sure will do the exact same thing since it's going to be a PDA issue.

EDIT 4: FIXED!
Not sure for the life of me why this fixed the issue. Anyway, I told you i was originally connecting to webmail2.domainname.com to configure my server since my mailbox is sitting on a 2003 server and that's what i connected to with WM6. Anyway, I tried our original webmail.domainname.com for the hell of it and it seemed to work on WM6.1. When I tried webmail.domainname.com on WM6, that never connected. Weird--wondering if WM6.1 added certificates to work with the older version of Exchange 2003. Anyway, thanks for the assist/looking. No responses but I managed to fix my own issue. Figured I'd document it here :). Still a great site and I'm loving everything you guys have done!

Out of 19960 (HTC Raphael), 20721 (Omnia), 20273 (HTC Diamond), 19216 (SCH-M480), it seems that 20273 runs best with i780. The performance so far is phenomenal and it has passed some of the rigorous test I can think of so far. Last night I spent hours testing the GPS driver and the German BHHF1 GSP dll seems to work quite well.

One minor test to go through now is Windows Vista WMDC USB Sync which seems to work fine and will always sync after the first pairing.

If all goes well expect to see EFV4X Series to be out by today. And it will be running 100% new on 20273 SYS section with partial XIP (kernel) upgrade. DXHE1 XIP is used over DXHH1 because I believe DXHE1 is superior in most aspects.

you can try to flash follow the version in the text file then only flash to V3.4XG Reloaded , i think this may help you...:D

Well unlike other chefs, I measure performance by actually using the builds extensively. I don't use benchmarking tools.

As many would know already, a plain WM6.1 without additional apps will run fast and smooth. But when we start to add apps to them the os began to slow down.

Among the four builds, 20273 has shown great resilience under pressure - I installed all of them with full load of programs, heavy mail sync (push mail), rigorous programs load concurrently and 20273 showed nimbleness more than the other three.

20373 also displayed good handling of glyphcache etc...

The released bin for 128DPI has been tested thoroughly and I can clearly recall not having this problem. I will re-upload the modded Nadavi dialer cab later so that u can reinstall the dial pad.

My mistake -you are right ! Installed HTC Home cab and it works.
But I have a problem with it,and not only with this rom.Buttons for messages,calls are not fully dispalyed.They are covered somehow by the menus buttons.

I am on V4.x 128DPI and "Battery indicators with percentage & 3G Icons" is working fine and it should work with 96DPI too. NOt sure about TomTom or Igo8, but running Garmin Mobile XT is working fine. Could it be that I am on DXHH1 phone rom instead of E1?

On my i780 V4x works fine with dxhh1 phone and eboot (V4U was perfect too)
I found only one small issue: When I install hungarian language cabs extracted from t-mobile.hu firmware: dialpad works no more I press left softkey or green button- do nothing. With 4U worked pecfectly.

I had that problem as well with the icons. But strangely after I did a full backup using sprite backup software, all the icons are displayed correctly.

Anyway, thanks EFN for his hard work and effort. It has indeed "brighten" up all i-780 users inlcuding myself. :)

I don't think an official WM 6.1 for i780 is available yet. It should be downloadable at the Samsung site, which it isn't. For your problem about the stand-by when connected to activesync go to:
start>settings>system>power>advanced and remove the tick at "On external power: Turn off device if not used for ..." (or site the time higher than 5 minutes)

i am trying to install a business application on my i780 that used to work on Samsung i600, for sure i am installing the WM6 version of it.

the problem it is detecting the device type which i780 and not compeleting the installation

If those tech guys come to my house and upgrade my phone whenever I call them, then I might accept that, but I'd never send my phone to the Samsung Center if it is not really broken! I like testing my phone with different versions and only then decide which version to keep, unfortunately this is not the case when you send your mobile to the Support Center! No choice, no party!

I just found another problem with v4.x, the bluetooth function is half working, pairing is working, sending file is working, but receiving file failed (always connect error on the other phone, tested with a few other brands). I have also enable receiving all beam. May be you can test that out before you upload the new 4.x

Succesfully dumped my factory rom and made a flashable pda bin from raw 2.
Could somebody explain me please how to make flashable bin from part 1 and part 3 raw files?

i am not sure of it , but i think part 1 & 3 are used in the process to make the .bin file from part 2

You will need to download Omnia Today Plugin 2, SMPlayer, Opera, LsMapClient.dll, the modified swf to fit our square screen, all which can get from that thread, but scattered throughout that thread.

If you can't dump and upload it then it is kinda moot to leak the info to us here. I can't imagine how frustated we will be seeing only screenshots and not the real thing. I am holding of the release of V4X because I tought at least someone could do a PDA dump so that I can cook a proper WM6.1 for the community. Well it's not gonna happen it seems.

I hope also.. but for what reason you cannot upload the rom.. making a dump is done is 5 minutes.. uploading it should notbe a problem.. you problaby work or you are a student, so wifi access is available.. anyways I think EFN is right and hope somebody does dump to rom.

I have an i780, China version, and was wondering if anyone knows where I can find the original ROM that was on it. Not thinking, I've put a new ROM on it and never exported the original. I have to send it back to Samsung for repair. I would like to put the original ROM back on it before sending it.

Another point regarding this thread: It's a really big thread with 100s of different subjects... wouldn't it be about time to make an own i780 board part? It is not really easy to read all the individual spreaded posts with different subjects with or w/o qoutes...?

I personally do not think that Samsung would publicly release the ROM, at least not for the next coming month or more, so we could wait forever for that new ROM unless someone who has sent his mobile to Samsung could do that for us. If Anbotta can not upload his new ROM, then that's OK, nobody wants him to lose his job, we understand that :)

The Omnia widgets has nothing to do with the rom at all. you got half size is because you did not do step 3 as what Spencerlim had indicated, which is to download the GrandL.swf and the widgetidle.dll and placed them into your windows directory.

After placing it, just soft reset and enjoy.

I agree, I was waiting with updating my i780 untill I got with my new provider. I'm now with my new provider, but there is no EFN update available. I'm still running XKHA3 for PDA and telephone and am now very eager to update! Please EFN, share the latest version! :)

Hey you guy, I just called to Samsung contact center in Thailand, They updated me that latest that they have is HH2 in WM6.0, So I've no idea to drive through central of Bangkok for up wm6.0,

I understand that some of those graphics are contained in the dll, for example, Nadavi's extracted 3g dialer or the widgets. This is only the first step, and the next would be getting the graphics placed at the appropriate position. It would be cool in fact if we can modify these to suit our devices.

What do you guys think?

Do using 96dpi rom now?
this is for 96dpi only , if you want to find the dcnobar , i think you have to find the treat behind omnia goodies and read thread almost end...

My brother's i780 (orange from UK, he got it with Polish ROM) had problems with wifi and gps. After trying to fight with portsplitters, patches for GPS (with no luck) i decided to flash it. I did it many times with all my PDAs, but this time I failed. First I tried to flash to Russian ROM, then to DXHE1 and then to wm6.1. After these steps Samsung behaves like this - i remove the batt, push the power button, the screen is blank for about 15 sec, samsung lolo appears and it's frozen forever (waited 15 minutes or so). It freezes when I perform a hard reset (formatting memory....).
I've tried Russian ROM alone, Italian (from parts), Polish (unbranded, Orange...) all the time the same results. Lucky me, that the bootloader works and I've run still try other ROMs, but I came out of ideas. What can be wrong? I flash the PDA from XP SP2 (tried 2 different machines), installed i780 modem drivers, disabled USB connection in Active Sync - I did everything with the manual from XDA-developers forum.
I've found 2 cases like mine, but without any answer, so I'm asking you again.

Any ideas? I'll appreciate any help from you guys.

Have you installed the Samsung Mobile Driver first on the computer you are flashing your mobile from? Are you also using ActiveSync 4.5? When you flash with the russian ROM, does everything work fine?

My brother's i780 (orange from UK, he got it with Polish ROM) had problems with wifi and gps. After trying to fight with portsplitters, patches for GPS (with no luck) i decided to flash it. I did it many times with all my PDAs, but this time I failed. First I tried to flash to Russian ROM, then to DXHE1 and then to wm6.1. After these steps Samsung behaves like this - i remove the batt, push the power button, the screen is blank for about 15 sec, samsung lolo appears and it's frozen forever (waited 15 minutes or so). It freezes when I perform a hard reset (formatting memory....).

Yes, I used the drivers both from this forum howto pdf and blackjack drivers. My Active Sync is 4.5. It doesn't work at all, even with Russian ROM. Does anybody have any else "must work" ROM?

Hardware issue would be an extremly tough luck. The guy I bought i780 from has flashed it before from UK (I believe) to Polish ROM. It went dead just after I did the first step - flashed to Russian ROM. Seems unlikely but you never know.

I'm still trying...

EDIT: Maybe there's any EBOOT-level selftest I might run to see if the HW is ok?

I never had this problem with my i780 so I can't tell if it will work for you. Just make sure you enable and click the "accept incoming beam"

Yepp, I did it another, and last time. I'm gonna complaint hoping I'll get a new one or money back. Thanks for a piece of advice, Dudes. At least I'm not wasting my time on it anymore. I hope to get another i780, my issue doesn't seem to be very common.

The same problem is not present with all the WM6.0 ROM.
I have a i780 device with the mail push on the mail server of my company (one the biggest company in Italy).
As soon as I configure the activesync and I start the connection throug our APN I'm able to complete the sync and I have all my emails and my contacts on the device.
BUT sometimes (I don't know why) white popup activesync appears and I need to close it. And if I try to send an email the e-mail is sent more times because it stays on the delivery status for ever.
It's terrible. And for this reason I must to download to the ROM with WM6.0.
All my colleagues with your ROMS have the same problem.

Similarly I work for one of the largest IT company in the world and we use Exchange Server 2007 (perhaps the largest and most complex). Never had any issue with ActiveSync Pushmail

The 3G icon on title bar does not refresh itself... supposing i switch on wifi and the 3G icon changes to the directional signs. Even when i switch off wifi the directional signs continue to turn and not revert back to 3G. Am i alone here? Aaargh... any solution, EFN?

Hello. Currentrly running 3.3 series works perfectly, thinking of upgrading to 4 series, but reading the warning , I have a swedish version of the i780. Is there any way to know if its a DX version or not? Or is it only asian units that are DX??
