i have found some small issues..

1. the wifi indicater icon do not change even after the wifif connection is dissconnected.
2. HTC home tabs can only reset after softreset.
3. my apps on HTC home launcher tab were reset this morning.
4. wirless manager is in diffrent language as i can only see boxes insted of characters.

i am ok with all this small issues... as the rest of the things are great... i love this rom.. fast and smooth...GPS drivers are grate...wifi drivers are great.. battery life is great..

Try reflashing two or three times with the same rom: Some i780 has hardware weekness.

Biggest power consuming are screen and wifi. Try method #2013

I think "OK" hold (Taskmanager), "hangup" hold (lock) and "gps" hold (data call manager) are fix.
Reflashing could help sometimes s. #2013.

I would like to say that I've encountered the same problem but I've one more information: for me, holding the red key lock works fine before the first exchange synch and relative policy that forces the lock of the device automatically with password, every 15 minutes.

With the previous builds, this feature worked fine.
I've tried an hard reset but with the same result. I will try a new flash of the entire phone later.

In fact, thinking about it now, when I restored my backup after loading 4.0, I'm sure that 3.4_128 overwrote 4.0

If I change number type from mobile to work everything is displayed fine, but I lose the ability to send text messages. Does anybody have the same problem? Is it ROM or WM6.1 specific?

Just an update, since vitux used the X 128dpi, I thot I'll try the 4X 96dpi to see if I have the same problem with bluetooth receive. Turns out same problem.

I agree but as long as Messenger and Live mail (hotmail push) isn't working it's no option for me. I tried it for a day but couldn't get Windows Live mail working. For messenger I could use another program like IM+ or so. But I want the push hotmail working.

It is true that the wireless icon at the top bar does not update. However, it only happened when you are using wifi. Icons does update when using GPRS.

I found two bugs of the ultimate rom:

1:bluetooth problem, can't send file to i780.
2:wifi icon doesn't update, and this leeds to problem of all the data connection icons.

I have flashed the rom for several times, these problems are still there, so i think it is the rom's problem.

I know that a fix for the ALS notification is:

Another bug seems to be a problem with the alarms! It goes off 1min before the time you set it. Adn then agian on the time you have set it for....and this time it goes all crazy! You can't turn it off! Happened with one of my appointments....phone was stuck and just made a crap load of noise....looked as if it was running threw all my previous and current appointments aswell as alarms.

I tried it again this morning and again the alarm went crazy!
Another bug....is that the phone refuses to except incoming bluetooth files.

Otherwise it's seems o.k.

But I think I prefer V3.3XG. I just wish I could have all the extra tools...like the one to turn of the connections etc. I want to only use wi-fi as my subscriber is to expensive to use 3G etc.

1. I cannot deactivate the automatic time setting, my clock is always changing, use to have this set to manual in the clock profile, but now this setting disappeared.

2. just now my messaging button, the one with envelope pict suddenly doesnot work, said some link is missing. soft reset doesn't help have to do HR

Again, this is my conjecture, if anbotta's rom is a beta release, well the release of the official 6.1 rom might still be quite far away.

You can download the 3.3 version. It is in 96 dpi but 128 dpi is also installed. So if you then change the realVGA to 128 and do some tweaks you have a working 128 dpi.

listening to musics. I looked into amazon to find an adapter with no luck :-(

You can look for G600 or omnia adapter. its compatible with i780.. if you using G600 adapter try dont buy those with volume control coz it will hang the lcd screen. hope this is wat you want

I just got my i780 this week with E1 rom. I found the msn is always trying to connect by GPRS automatically whenever wifi signal is not stable. Could anyone help me on this issue? any software or setting can fix this?

another observation is sometimes the system hangs when I am trying to connect GPS by Navfone, and after that can't even power up by power button, the only way to recover is to take off the battery. Anyone seeing the same problem?

By the way, any software resources ? especially GPS software?

Regarding bluetooth, I just found that any files transfered to the i780 device fail, while from i780 to other devices work.

Using AdvConfTool 3.2, I found the following entry under Bluetooth whether or not to enable OBEX (receive incoming file) to be Disabled. But Enable-ing it doesnt seem to solve the problem either.

Are there might other registry values that needs to be enabled to fix this?
Could we compare registry dump from older ROM (with working Bluetooth) to the latest one?

Thanks for the ROM, it's working perfectly but of course with some minor bugs. Here's what i found so far.
1. Hardware lock button is not working, I tried to flash to WM6 and it works. Anyway this is just minor for me so i decided to flash it again to V4X and retain the phone version to H1.
2. The old problem which is camera did't work still exist. Maybe its a hardware problem. Any ideas?
3. Tried WIFI and it works perfectly.

I was going to say that i thought this rom has much better battery life. I upgraded to the full russian rom first, then upgraded pda to this.

Also, what do people think about starting new threads for each rom. There seems to be a trend at the moment to continue old threads. Makes it almost impssible to search for issues though because if you find a relevant post you dont really know which rom they are reffering to, then you have to read all the way through to try and find out what rom.

The russian rom is PUHE1. DXHE1 is an Asian rom. The only available phone rom is the russian one (PUHE1) in the internet. As far as I know there isn't any DXHE1 available, except at Samsung Service centers.

Please note that when you flash PUHE1, you are flashing the eboot+pda+phone and the phone will be in russian. But after you flash EFN WM6.1 PDA Rom, provided it is in WWE, then everything else will be in English.

Yesterdayevening I finally gave it a try and flashed my i780. The Russian part worked fine, the English PDA part caused my computer to crash, but after reboot and doing the flash again, that also worked like a charm. Flashed EFN V4X Ultimate, which also caused my computer to crash, and again after reboot and again a new flash worked like a charm.
Looks very slick now! Thank you EFN! :)

At DXHD3 rom possible to flash only pda part but DXHH1 rom is az img (eboot+phone+pda) After flashing with this image you can flash with every pda rom part. well, for lets say no.. it doesnt matter flashing your phone with a russian rom.. had to do it also, the thing is, you dont boot your russian os.. after flashing it to russian, i turned off the phone, turned it back on again and flashed it with these roms

Please help me resolve my upgrade issue.
I was using your i780 v3.3X WM6.1 Final for sometime now, I saw you released a new version and I wanted to try it out. I downloaded the i780_WM6.1_20273_EV4X.U Final on my phone and PHONE download started to fail at 58%.

So what I did is to start from the scratch, using my Windows XP Pro SP3 i did the following:
1. Followed exactly the Flash procedure. downloaded i780_PUHE1_Rev12, i780pda_DXHE1, and i780_WM6.1_20273_EV4X.U Final.
2. Reinstalled the Samsung USB driver MCCI 4.34.
3. Successfully installed the Russian ROM, i780_PUHE1_Rev12.
4. Successfully installed the English E1, i780pda_DXHE1.
5. Failed at 58% when PHONE downloading the i780_WM6.1_20273_EV4X.U Final.
6. Also, I tried to revert back to v3.3, but it also failed to PHONE download at 58%.
7. Re did the whole Flashing process and it always failed the 58% even using the EFV 3.0 or i780_WM6.1_20273_EV4X.96 Final.

It didn't happend to me before when i first upgraded to V3.3X, but now I can't seem to have it woorking. Had you or anyone else experienced it before?

Did i missed something in the process that made it fail?

Are you sure you are loading the correct image using the PDA button? I got this problem when I was distracted and instead of clicking the PDA button, I clicked the PHONE button and it failed at around 58% !

I am having the feeling that wifi is on, but that i dont see it on..

i am using wmwifirouter.. after shutting down the program ,my wifi SEEMS off.. but it is still on.. there were my pc stills is connected to the wmwifirouter.

EFN: is it possible, the reason for depleting the battaery so fast is that wifi is online, but not showing in the connections manager?

Has anybody news whether there will be an Upgrade for German users? With nearly every ROM Version, except DXHC4 and the russian rum, my touchpad won't work. So i hoped for an official german rom, but Samsung replied:

I was going to say that i thought this rom has much better battery life. I upgraded to the full russian rom first, then upgraded pda to this.

Also, what do people think about starting new threads for each rom. There seems to be a trend at the moment to continue old threads. Makes it almost impssible to search for issues though because if you find a relevant post you dont really know which rom they are reffering to, then you have to read all the way through to try and find out what rom.

What do you guys think ?

After the hard reset I managed to load, register and get the program working. However half an hour later it was the same error message.

I managed to get hold of one of the techies at the Garmin agent who told me that the problem is caused by a blank sms that resides on the Sim card. Although I couldn't spot the offending sms, I deleted my whole inbox / outbox / sent items etc etc and lo and behold, I then had a working version of Garmin XT.

Damn frustrating to try and solve the problem but it now seems to be working ok.
this helped me immensely.

i was getting a Data type misalignment at program address 0x03f94e04 error, and found this post while googling.

i didn't want to delete my text messages, so i went thru all 800+ of them and found two that seemed to be either malformed or blank, and deleted them, then Garmin Mobile XT started working again.

I really like all the features of the Ultimate version, but prefer to have 128dpi resolution instead, 96 dpi is too small to see for my eyes. Are you planning on developing a 128 version?

If you have problem with Bluetooth Send/Receive, here's the fix:
I have tested them successfully on my i780 sending and receiving files between HTC Touch Dual WM6.1

NOTE: Enabling "Receive all incoming beams" will temporarily freeze the i780 but this is completely safe and will be okay after 2 mins

I have recently migrated from my original D1 ROM that came with the phone (I am using Asian DX). Handset originally from Indonesia and was shipped to me in Australia.

Previously, I would use GPS for about half an hour a day, half an hour of phone calls, an hour of wifi and sometimes my 3G internet would be connected for up to 8 hours due to me not disabling it after it checked emails.
I would use up about 60% battery per day with this usage.

I upgraded to V4X two days ago. I stuck in a battery at 100%. I have had roughly the same usage except that I used wifi for over 5 hours yesterday while studying/researching and I might have used 3G internet less because of this. However, 3G internet was left connected all night. Most importantly, perhaps, I haven't used GPS on V4X yet.

After 2 days on V4X, my battery is on 80% capacity. It used roughly 10% per day. Now either the battery life is extremely good right now, or GPS for half an hour was chugging down 30% of my battery. I know GPS uses a lot but doubt it used 1% a minute.

So, basically, this ROM is incredibly awesome on battery life for me as compared to my original D1. Now, I haven't tried this V3 ROM but I still don't see why everyone is complaining. I don't use Bluetooth so haven't noticed that (now fixed) issue but I do use wifi and 3g net a lot and have never noticed an issue with this.

Does the time change or timezone? iGO 8 GPS navigator has a bug that changes the timezone...

I used the BHHA5 Rom from this forum and all my outlook phone-#s stored in the i780 get automatically transfered to the hands free system in my car via BT with no problem.

After upgrading to V4X only the phone numbers stored on the SIM card get transferred via BT, the outlook data is ignored.

Is there a secret switch or is this a limitation of VX4 ?
( with my original German Rom from Feb-08 I had the same problem )

Apparently, it was a miscommunication somewhere internally with them and Samsung that the WinMo 6.1 already arrived, but apparently that isn't true... they actually thought it was 6.1 but it is not. Oh well, resuming our wait for the official release of the i780's update to ver 6.1...

and off to explore commercial threaded sms applications... or on to the kitchen for some rom cooking...

WM 6.1 for SGH-i780 is real and should be made public next week according to internal sources.

I believe we have evidence (pictures from the italian release) of it in this same thread... just look ;-)

Since my phone has been frozen on the samsung logo no matter what rom i flash i want to take it to a service center...i've heard some peopel mention this, but i cant seem to find where this so called service center is...when i call samsung they tell me they dont even support the i780 and i have to contact the website i ordered the phone from. So is there some service center i can send my phone to to get it fixed? thanks!

LOL. I was just having the exact same problem today and I've got the solution for you.

Download and install GPSProxy (http://sourceforge.net/project/showfiles.php?group_id=139292&package_id=152765) - Ignore the warnings you get after install.
Start GPSProxy
Click Menu, Extensions
Delete the Garmin extention
Configure NMEA
Set GPS to COM8, tick "mirror" and output to COM1
Click Menu, "Virtual COM Ports"
Click Add, COM1 should pop up
Click Start

Now in TomTom, reconfigure so it uses COM1.

I don't know what magic GPSProxy is doing, but I get instant lock-on even indoors. :)

EDIT: Just read your COM error, try restart your Windows Mobile then start GPSProxy and add Virtual COM.

Mine says "Invalid" for a couple seconds too.
Click "page" and switch to "GPS Satellite Info"
You should see at least a couple of bar columns, indicating there is adequate GPS signal. If not, try outside.

I'm sure its working for you but you don't have a clear signal.

A few days ago I was in a hurry - I needed to get to one address, so I fired up TomTom 7 and could get a lock (first time I used GPS in TT7 on the freshly formatted device).

Because I was reaaaaaalllly in a hurry I took out my Nuvi250, knowing I usually get a fix in about a minute or less - and guess what, not even the Nuvi got a fix!

the latest 4.x ultimate, but i have 2 problems:
1. as i stated, using my jawbone (first generation) with this new rom gives me a lower BT volume then before with any other rom.
2. when i am charging the phone at night and coming in the morning to unplug it from the charger i see that it's stuck and won't wake up. this happens to me during the day also, reminds of the "sleep of death" i used to have with my tytn and WM5. i sure hope it will be fixed in the future.

- installed programs : Opera 8.65 , Java , Messenger , Win Live , Alarms , Explorer , RSS Reader , Podcasts

It's not a seperate ROM, it's an executable file. The software for flashing includes an boot, PDA and phone image.
the phone does not have to be reset to emergency mode.
just connect, start the program and the phone is flashed.

I am not allowed to say that I can look if I ca create a dump, so I will not say that I can create a dump for the same reason as mentioned before....

hi EFN i'm a new member of this thread and i have to ask the following question: now i'm working with the DXHH1 + 1.2 (the solutor) - PDA versions and they seem good; i'm also using tt7 but when i use the wi-fi connection i have to reset by switching off the phone 'cause TT7 doesn't fix at all. I think it's a problem of WM6.1 hanging a process of wi-fi. Can you tell me something about this problem? thanks in advance.

Well, I guess bugs never go away even in the Samsung original ROM eh? :mad: I think I'll stick to my current configuration of PDA and PHONE which proved to be the best ever (of course, to me, I don't know about the rest)

I don't know about you guys, but my phone is rocking with the configuration above. It is fast, stable, and everything is working fine with no bugs at all (knocking on wood), except for the GPS which is working also great with PortSplitter!!

Well, remember that the HH5 is only the PDA part, be it official or not. Although I think it is, and I have tried it for like 5 seconds, I came back to the configuration I mentioned 2 posts before.

Remember, a good working phone is a combination of 2 parts, PHONE and PDA. The Italian PDA might be working perfect if Samsung Italy flashes it for you because the also flash the PHONE part. I haven't seen the HH5 PHONE part anywhere!

We cann't judge whether HH5 is good or buggy until we get the right combination. It is like running Windows XP on a 386 hardware, and you complain about the XP performance. It is not XP, it is your 386! So, HH5 might be a good ROM, but you gotta get the corresponding PHONE part. I bet an IMG which includes the BOOT,PHONE and PDA part is the ideal solution to really judge whether its worth it or not!

This is the reason why in my above post I said that the combination that I have is PERFECT :)

I hate the silence of Samsung, not even a word on their public website. They said by the end of August 2008 a new ROM would be available, and now we are almost in the mid of October and still nothing :mad:

The rom itself is in fact perfect, it's just the way it's being dumped and reconstructed - some crucial info was not assigned properly in boot.hv and boot.rgu and some other XIP components. Fixing those components immediately removed the bugs. So a HH5 based release is coming after all.

But it took me the whole day to discover this and I am really tired. I will continue working on the roms later.

Thanks for asking. I am doing a trial run of the translated PXIHH5 (WWE) 128 DPI now on my i780 and it has been running superb for the last 12 hours. No major bugs. GPS locked (Garmin Mobile XT GPD1/XTRA) within 5 minutes for first time and less than a minute for subsequentt fixes). Exchange push mail worked 100%. No issues with BT & 3G Icons. Can do multiple selection of emails/sms etc. I am pretty much happy with the results so far. Just some fine tuning need to be done.

I am currently travelling so would not be able to resume work on cooking until the next 12 hours. More time to test before release. And this is just the basic 128DPI version. Another 3 to go.





And yes, when I can find the time, I will re-cook the ITA version (unmodded) with the bugs fixed as well. But don't expect this to come too soon because I have a busy schedule (on my actual job) ahead this week.
