Anyone who has installed this, please post up your results as I've stuck with WM5 and would like to upgrade to the latest STABLE version. The problem I have with my Helmi 1.3.1 ROM is that sometimes ActiveSync will not connect (forcing a reboot first), and calls will not always receive (phone rings, I 'pick up', hangs for about 10 secs, then tells me I missed a call). Also sometimes when I place a call, I get a notification "Call cannot be completed." (when I have full reception) which is also quite annoying.
Is there a good way to flash the phone COMPLETELY to make sure that there are no leftovers from the previous? I know that this shouldn't be the case when flashing, however this Helmi ROM was working great, then I tried WM6 / WM6.1 out, didn't like them, and flashed back to the Helmi WM5. Now I am experiencing these issues that weren't there at all before WM6 was flashed to it.
Anyways, I have no time these days to install and test (which I REALLY want to), and I cannot be without a functional phone. Please post any mini-reviews of this ROM that you can if you've tried it.
Thanks in advance!

sorry, which file is the rom file?
It's in the "ROM_FILES" folder in the .zip file, named "nk.nbf", size 66,715,820 bytes.
Please let me know if ActiveSync (over Bluetooth) + WiFi works for you. Also, if anybody knows which radio ROM version is included, please let me know. I have 1.15.00 myself.
** EDIT ** Never mind about the Radio ROM ver. I believe it's 1.17.00 as stated in swat4's sig.
Thanks!

Hi,
I'm newbie... how can i upgrade using this rom?
thanks
orakanggo, all of your answers can be found in the XDA-Wiki, specifically for HTC Universal, at this page:
How to upgrade your ROM (http://wiki.xda-developers.com/index.php?pagename=HTC_Universal)
Take a look at the subsections below that area if you run into any problems (- Error messages while upgrading and measures)
I'm running the ROM right now. Seems to be fully functional, very slim, and reliable at this moment. I had an o2 XDA Exec, but it wouldn't boot after flashing. If you do NOT have a T-Mobile MDA, this ROM might do the same thing for you (JasJar, Dopod 900, o2 XDA Exec, etc.). If this happens, read this thread (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=256454) for more information on how to edit this ROM before flashing it. Note that you'll need an original/official ROM update for your exact phone so you can read some parameters from it, then inject them back into this ROM.
Hope that helps!

Did the upgrade, without hassles. Good ROM. :)
Am facing one problem. The old 'pim.vol' file generated when the Jasjar was operating on the original Jasjar ROM is not compatible with this new ROM.:( The old 'pim.vol' contains all my contact & calendar info.
Can someone suggest a method to extract all info from the old 'pim.vol'. I do not want to reflash with old ROM.
Awaiting a response.

in order to upgrade to this aku 3.3 rom, do i have to go through the motions of unlocking, or i can immediately upgrade without the preparations? the wiki doesn't seem to contain the info on how to do it. can someone help?
also, are there applications that will get lost once i upgrade to this rom? will i lose autoconfig, MMS, a working WIFI, etc?

Hi,
as I wrote I've had some problems downloading the file, so I tried a remote-upload with the given URL at rapidshare.com, and after a few hours it was done!

I'm looking forward to flash this rom today.
thanks for providing it, wohlgetan
PS: The Rom works since August 2008, we use the MDA Pro with TomTom Navi (whole central europe) and a Bluetooth GPS device, two SlovoEd dictionaries, Tomeraider with german offline dump of Wikipedia, including pictures. One flaw: when using another than the standard input method (e.g. InterKey for portuguese characters) the system totally hangs after a softreset (white screen). So we set the input method every time back to the standard keyboard.

Second day of using of this ROM after PsiDOC. It's really seems faster, applications works correctly. No any task manager I use now, just X-button pre-installed. Registry tweak for BT stereo activation. Internet Explorer (in 3G mode) works not so fast, but remote desktop app (RDM+) runs. Good Rom.

Really great rom, it works perfect for me: wifi, bt, a2dp + avrcp, fast and really stable. Guys, I need your help with one thing. I d like to remove all T-mobile elements: especially big logo in the dialer pad (changing the dialpad skin doesn't remove the logo) and it will be nice if I can change first page when the device is booting. I haven't install T-mobile package software in the ext rom, only nk.nbf file. This is not a big problem but I really want to remove all T-mobile accents, so please help me, how can I do it?

You can take rom UNI WM5 T-Mobile 2.00.41 unbranded that is removed all T-Mobile elements by PsiDoc from this address:
http://rapidshare.com/files/68384378/htc_uni_wm5_2.041_tmob_unbranded.rar.html
PsiDOC

You have to unpack the rom and replace the dialler skin with a different one then update the core registry file with the new settings for it. Also if you like you can remove all the stuff from the TMobile customisations folder (if you folder view by thumbnails you'll see all the web n walk junk etc in the necessary folder - sorry I can't remember which folder it is in off the top of my head) delete all of this except for the sdio.dll and update the .dsm file o reflect the changes.
Minshu, I didn't even know that link was still valid. :D The enhancements of Swat4's rom really put that rom in the shade, although it may be a good base to rip all the drbranded bits from. ;)

Well this rom is fast and does everything that i wanted it to do! :)..
but...... My bluetooth headphones dont work with it now :(.. It keeps on pausing during my mp3s. Pretty annoying as i installed all my apps but forgot to test my bluetooth headphones till a day later. now ill have to test another rom...
Edit: Sweet it now works. I had a go at installing http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=291639 I did it as a last resort. But now it seems to run with out any pauses. It takes about 6 meg memory though and it dosnt seem to connect automaticly to my headphones when i turn them on. But apart from that im happy now :)
Edit: it also keeps playing when i turn my phone off :) (unlike my stupid blue angel!)

Thank you for this great rom Swat4 - Any chance you will update it with new features soon?
8gb SDHC Class 6 confirms to work flawlessly! (when you install the rom the 1st time and put your sdhc card, the phone may not recognize it --> you must reboot the phone so that it installs the required driver automatically and your card will appear. Only do this once and that's all!)
Video Call working too! Stable, reliable and fast - no hangs at all for several weeks now! Thanks to this rom, I never missed important calls/messages when going out!
Games, Musics & Videos play smoothly also!

After a long absence of power supplies support of 128 memories will cease to work
Support is included since on last wearing you had a support of 128 memories

I don't understand well 128MB support.
I have G4 HTC Uni O2 branded with 128Mb support.
My questions:
Is it technically possible to add 128MB to WM5 ROMs?
When I install WM 6.1 Rom for example Tomal 8.9 or 8.71 what I will miss from orignal WM5 ROMs except Video call? Anything else? Is better speed on WM5? Did I miss some WM% specific applicatons?

the difference is that the Uni's drivers had been written specifically for WM5.
that's all...
What difference between WM5 and WM6.x read Wiki...

All Windows Mobile 6 for universal do not have video call because only WM5 was made for this phone. The WM6 versions are all ported from other devices to make it compatible with our Uni. Wm6 is great looking and have some extra options, but due to the reason mentionned above, your phone may freeze at times making you missed important phone calls/text messages. If you want a stable windows mobile version + video call, you can use the one in this thread - I think the "Final WM5 faster than WM6" is probably the fastest and the most stable WM5 for the Uni.

i just bought a universal, i flashed your rom and attempted to use a 16gb pny sdhc class4.
didnt recognize it, tried 128mb, no go, tried 1gb no go.
works fine with every other rom. any ideas why it aint working?
also, anyone have any suggestions as to how to get this rom going with VGA? I've attempted mrtvga and ozvga, but they both screw up the os icons horribly.

For vga, use MVRTRUEVGA(there are some files which you need to replace to make the power/wlan...etc icons and fonts to appear correctly) and regarding your post for the card problem, did you use mtty116.exe before flashing to this rom? Try to reflash it once more. And restart the phone, then insert your card to see if it is recognize.

i have NO idea why the sd was screwy, i reflashed and about gave up. thenstarted tinkering alittle more and got it to detect both my 8gb and 16gb. im extremely happy with that.
as far as mvrtruevga, mind pointing me in the right direction for them files? I'd really appericate it =D
ohalso, i'd like to comment on this.
i fucking love the universal. once i got rid of wm6 i'm really loving it. feels so..fast and clean. being able to watch a house ep without converting is bloody great. 45minute of video and it only drained 15% battery. I LOVE THIS SOMUCH. =D

MvrTrueVGA can be found here :
http://www.jaml.com/MvRTrueVGA/
Also, if I remember(I'm not sure since it's been a long time...) there are a bunch of files which you must install for some icons to display correctly but I can't find the link. If you have downloaded a vga pack files from vidmes.com, extract the files from the folder "vgasystemfiles" to your pocketpc 'Windows' folder and it should be working.

I tested this version of WM 5 for several days, and is nothing special, especially when lifting the system, it should be a lot more time and battery life is 1 day while in other WM6 ... versions of at least 2 days, receiving the signal is bad, although I was also "Universal" with T-Mobile network

aright im confused here.
bluetooth has always confused me to some extent however im fed up with it.
explain to me why a wm2003 harrier can join my bluetooth PAN just fine, but the universal has ZERO support for it.
all it can seem to do is a2dp. why.

you can downgrade easily like you flash tomal's rom - but use mtty116.exe first before flashing.

...use mtty for what exactly.
just flash the image O_o, i was under the impression mtty is used to recover from nonbooting/sd backups, not preflashes.

Anyone who has installed this, please post up your results as I've stuck with WM5 and would like to upgrade to the latest STABLE version. Please post any mini-reviews of this ROM that you can if you've tried it.
Thanks in advance!
I've been having a frustrating time with trying to find a good ROM through these forums too. I see whole pages and tables of cooked ROMS, with almost all of the download links no longer working. Several of the good links have images which fail CRC check, or just don't work properly on the device, or have beta-expiry dates hardwired into them, or simply refuse to boot up.
So after all this frustration, and just before going to bed, I came across the ROM in question here. Billed as a "fast WM5", this appealed to me, especially after struggling with the sluggishness of the Tomal v10 ROM. I had just enough time to flash the ROM and cold-boot before going to bed, but not enough time to try it.
This morning, I powered up the JasJar and found a very clean, responsive and sensible software collection sitting on the device. Strangely, the locale was set to Croation, but this was easy to fix. An ISP-specific item sat on the Today screen, but this was easily disabled.
What I've ended up with is a largely vanilla software bundle that simply Just Works, and works damn well. MMS integration is better than other ROMs.
My only complaint is that, just as with all the other ROMs I've tried, Bluetooth acts a bit weird with my handsfree/stereo device (google "BCK-08" if you're curious). It pairs well with this device, but subsequent connections don't automatically route system audio to the device, so I have to delete the pairing and re-pair every time I want to use the device.
This little issue aside, I'm delighted with the ROM. Less of the visual gimmicks and fancy artwork of later WM versions, but performance wise it's excellent. I recommend it wholeheartedly.

Did you solve?
I just flash this rom, I used mtty, so everything clean.
In my first experience, only a old mmc card work, a normal SD donīt work.
Another flash, (mtty again) and now a SD can be recognized, but how can I make my SDHC work again??
The rom is very fast

My uni is like an old man with 6.1 and I have to be gentle and patient with Opera. Then trying to find the best rom, I finally brick my uni big time. :( Fortunately I have a spare main board :) but I'll leave it W5. Hmmm... not so good, so I bite the bullet and flash this one. Wow... it's like a phone should be - everything works properly and so smooth. Yes it's fast for me - faster than the shipped W5 I had on my uni. Thankyou.

Have you tried JWright's WM5 1.90.96 ROM... just giving you more options on WM5 ROMs. Compare the two and maybe you can decide which is better that suit your needs.

Hi Jjjasjar,
Can you please get me a working link to JWright's WM5 1.90.96 ROM? (JASJAR_WWE_19096_19505_11300_AKU_3_2)
All his ftp files have been removed from the server... (I wonder why?)
Thanks
