Well, supposedly if you flash with the AT&T ROM it will work on 850/1900 UMTS... I was going to attempt that, but obviously when I found a Touch Pro made for the US I wasn't going to pass it up.

here in romania, they say it will not be available until september :(
Alex I'm also from romania, but I can assure you it's gonna be available by max on the 31st this month (this is the latest date of every european online store). Where did u ask? when i bought the tytn II, cel.ro had it 2 weeks before the representatives did. the raphael is now listed in 3 different sites (pdamall.ro for example) so don't be sad. Cheers

purelygadgets.co.uk av got the pro in stock:)

As said by ardsar, all it means is that they are expecting stock within a short enough timeframe (five days or so) that they can claim to have it in stock.

I placed an order with them Monday lunchtime, as at 5.00PM Tuesday afternoon it still said "Processing..." - I don't believe they had stock when they said they did. Cancelled my order and placed it with Handtec instead... (which was also cheaper and with next day delivery before 12.00pm)

All the UK vendors (that I've seen) have this listed as HSDPA.

HTC site specs have it as HSPA... so which is it?

HTC site specs have it as HSPA... so which is it?

HSPA is a generic term which can reference either HSDPA or HSUPA. If you are with 3 Australia as your account says then I'm pretty sure it is HSDPA which is compatible with the UK ones as far as I know.

So this is on W-UMTS (Wideband Code Division Multiple Access, if anyone cares)

HSDPA = High Speed Downlink Packet Access (Raphael is Cat8 - theoretical max 7.2 Mbps)
HSUPA = High Speed Uplink Packet Access (Raphael is Cat5 - theoretical max 2 Mbps)

QED
HSPA = High Speed Packet Access <- general 3.5G

I thought the norm was to refer to a device that has supports both HSDPA and HSUPA as HSPA. Sure this is also network dependant and 3 Aus only have HSDPA, but I'm talking in terms of the hardware capabilities.

So another way to put it... can the phones purchased in U.K support HSUPA?

I'm up for a Sprint upgrade in October... Really liking this phone so far... I haven't seen much in the way of release dates for the US but was wondering if anyone has any clue/ballpark as to when sprint will have the Pro. And/or are there any better phones that sprint will be carrying that I should be considering??

I ordered through clove on tuesday morning (UK time), tuesday afternoon they sent a request for a copy of a credit card statement for verification purposes, on tuesday evening I emailed that off to them and on wednesday morning I gave them a call to confirm they received the email and that it was acceptable. I went to bed on wednesday evening australia time (which was just after I called them, wednesday morning UK time) and when I woke up this morning there was no email stating that the order had been shipped. Sorry if it is confusing, the time difference makes it complicated.

Anyway, needless to say I'm not happy, we're coming up to 3 days since I placed the order and it still hasn't been shipped, now shipping will go across the weekend which means it will take even longer!

For those of us who want a Raphael on a contract..

No sign of the Vario IV on the T-mobile site yet, but I just got this in a news letter from Expansys.

I don't know why Expansys have this and not T-Mobile. Perhaps someone could explain?

"you can also get the HTC Touch Pro on an 18 month T-Mobile Combi 30 contract for only £141.99 . The T-Mobile Combi 30 contract will cost you £35 per month and includes 700 voice minutes, unlimited texts and 1GB wireless data. Call our connections team on 0161 232 3427 if you have further queries. "

Expansys are selling the HTC branded Touch Pro with a contract.

T-Mobile will be selling their own version, MDA Vario IV or whatever they end up calling it.

Because T-Mobile will never sell the Touch Pro. They will sell the Vario IV which is a derivative of the Touch Pro, but it'sh not ready yet.

Expansys are selling the Touch Pro which is available with a separate T-Mobile contract to subsidise it.

Still waiting for mine... :( Placed the order in early July from Handtec but I've ordered the Premium one which is bundled with Tomtom software and they don't have it in yet.

I emailed them a couple of days ago when I noticed they had the normal Touch Pro in stock and asked how long it would be . The reply came back last night that it would be "sometime this week", that really only gives them Today or tomorrow so we'll see!

Hello,

Can anyone tell me if the EU version of Touch Pro comes with the European AC Charger plug or comes with the UK AC Charger plug ??
I'm asking this because I'm buying the Touch Pro on the portuguese expansys website, and although the version of the Touch Pro that they are selling is the EU it doens't say what type of AC charger plug brings.

steveoidm

The plug has a uk adaptor type thing, I believe this fits onto the EU style plug.

I got mine from DeviceWire, though haven't tested it I am sure it is unlocked since it is HTC Branded and how would they know what network I was on before shipping it to me!??

My SIM went straight in and worked and am sure that another operator SIM would work fine!

If you buy and HTC branded device it should be unlocked. The only time it will be locked is if you get it from your network.

Well, Expansys are telling their usual lies about stock levels.

Site showing 37 in stock when I ordered, Currently showing 18, and is telling you that if you roder before 4:30 you'll get it next day.

Yet... order tracking shows "Estimated 3 days".

So as ever with Expansys, let the buyer beware.

Have to agree. They are a load of liars. Ordered from the UK store on purpose to have delivered to me here in Japan. When you go through the order process it gives your pricing on shipping from the UK to worldwide. Place the order. Then get told it will first be sent to China store after the 21st then sent to Japan.

F'ing joke. Half tempted to cancel the order and see if I can grab one online from taiwan.

If you're not satisfied with the company you purchased from, try Clove (http://www.clove.co.uk) next time. I ordered the Hermes, Kaiser and now Raph from them and they have always been honest about stock and are very fast shippers. They estimated arrival of stock by the end of this week. It actually arrived a few days early and should be delivered to me today in Florida from the UK. Has just arrived at my local DHL facility:D Now can't wait for HardSPL to be released so I can try this AT&T ROM.

Appreciate you testing, it all depends where you located if you'd be able to test T-Mobile 3G.... It hasn't launched nationwide yet :-/

I know it is available in the UK depends if the network on the pro can support 3G, Will probably have to wait for a rom to be unpacked for that

Hi,

I am not 100 percent certain on that. I think it is only covered in the UK to be honest. The only reason I have not given it much thought is because if need be we have a branch office there in the UK and I can get it back there easily enough if I need to. If that fails I have to fly there a few times per year anyways for work so can always do the warranty thing when I go back.

If you do not go there, and/or do not want the hassle of mailing it back you should jsut give HTC there in Singapore a call and ask them. I can not see why they would not honor the warranty. Stupid really if they do not. Sorry I can not be of much help.

Even if HTC do not cover the warranty, am quite sure most of the problems
can be solved unless it's the hardware.

I could order the UK WWE version right now this moment and play with it tomorow.

For those buying the HTC Touch pro for the US. www.SuperGPS.co.uk is no longer shipping to US because of the devices being stolen in the mail or some crap. SO DON'T TRY AND PAY BY PAYPAL BANK TRANSFER CAUSE THEN U HAVE TO WAIT 3-5 DAYS TO GET UR MONEY BACK.

As u can tell it happened to me :(

@gorrynel: How did you get them to give you information like that? I've been trying to sneak that info out of my AT&T rep at my local store since the end of July and he just keeps saying cryptic things like "well it might be on my list and it might not" and "well yea I think we're getting it but I really don't know when" as he starts looking at the floor and the ceiling and trying to avoid my question. I've been trying to get a firm release date for AT&T because my contract is due for upgrade and my mom is dying to get her hands on my 8125/Wizard.

I got the same answers from my local store in OH but I called a store in Manhattan and he said the third week of September, I called another store in New York City and they said the same.

I can confirm that AT&T is telling staff during training that the device will launch at the end of September, but only time will tell...

does anyone remember how much the tilt was last black friday and if you could UPGRADE to get it at that price or was it a new customer only deal?...im deciding on whether to sell my tilt now $300-350 (craigslist) and use my old 2125 smartphone until the release and upgrade or wait till black friday and try to sell my tilt the week of or a few weeks before. Last time i sold my 8525 for $290 and got a new tilt for $350 (december 07).
