View Full Version : Notification Settings Keep Clearing Themselves

I couldn't find anything already posted about this. Every day or so, my notification settings will clear. Specifically, the checkboxes for "Play Sound", "Display message on screen", "Flash light for", and "Vibrate" will become unchecked for every event. The listboxes for the sound file and the "flash light for X minutes" don't get reset, just the checkboxes. My ringtone settings are also unaffected.
This is driving me crazy because when it happens I won't get notified for new e-mail, text messages, or reminders until I realize it and check the boxes again. I haven't been able to figure out what causes this to happen. It's not after a soft-reset, as I can do a soft-reset and the boxes stay checked.
Has anyone else ever had this problem?
I'm using ROMeOS v3.1, Windows Mobile 6.1, OS 5.2.19214 (Build 19214.1.0.4)
TIA!

Opera 9.5 beta installed by any chance?
If so.. check the Opera forums it's a known issue. (one that drove me mad also!)

Timing is everything!
I was going to search for that myself...pulled Opera beta, hope that takes
care of it. Was driving me nuts, since I get (work related) email & SMS, I'd
look at my phone and have missed messages.
Thanks!

The bug occurs when exiting Opera. When you exit, it wipes out the notification settings. I can't stand PIE, so I created a .Reg file I can run to reset my settings after I use Opera.

THANK YOU!
I've been trying to figure this out for quite a while. Time to revert to an older opera I suppose, and see what sound problems remain.

The annoying thing with the other diamond-leaked version is the hardware keyboard problem.. personally I can stand the notifications issue (also made myself a .reg file) better than not being able to type stuff with the keyboard.

i had the same problem. Found a fix here.

basically just create a .reg file to load after you exit opera. instructions on how to do it are in that thread.

Holy Crap! This was absolutely driving me crazy. I thought it was a radio rom issue... then I thought it was tom tom 7. I just happened to see this thread bumped up. Cheers :)

Excellent! I was just about to post about this too. For me it was always just settings for one notification, such as email or text messages. Also, today I noticed my backlight timeout was reset to 10 seconds instead of 5 minutes. That's only happened once. I hope not using opera fixes that, too.

How about just downloading the new Opera beta released a week ago? Notifications bug fixed in this build...

I took a punt on this one, and it seems to work... the general consensus is that this is an Opera issue... so rather than reloading reg settings, try opening Opera up then doing the settings the way you want them. Opera will then reset to those settings only, which fixes the problem...!
I tried it and it seems to work...
Let me know if it works for you.

Hmmm... maybe not...
it seemed to work with opening and closing opera again, but after a soft reset, all my settings were blown away...
Well, not all, but the same particular setting that always gets blown away.
Damn....
So is this an Opera issue or something else...?? it's only with a soft reset that seems to effect my settings...

just download the latest official beta and be done with it
Background: the problem you are referring to only applies to the FIRST OFFICIAL BETA released late 2008. a few weeks later, a NEW OFFICIAL BETA was released which fixed EXACTLY the problem mentioned in this thread (among other problems). i'm surprised this thread has been revived in Q1 2009 when opera fixed this admittedly annoying issue back in Q4 2008 !!!
