Hey,

is there a offical HTC-update for "Windows Mobile 6.1"?

Yes there is. I just downloaded it and installed it last night.

You will need to backup all your information because it wiped my device (contacts programs and everything) except for my storage card.

You can get the official update from the HTC website. Just go to the Touch for whatever carrier you use and go to the support page for that phone. You will find links there to download.

that's where I got mine. Like it said, that's the one for Sprint so dunno if your carrier has one out yet.

Hey boys... you might want to put this update in the Vogue Section... some people might use this to update their Elves and end up bricking their device.

Other than that, am glad WM6.1 is out for Vogue already. Elf should be up next shortly...

Kidding aside, pal, Both the ELF and VOGUE are HTC Touch devices. The Elf is the GSM version (meaning you have to use a SIM Card on it) and the Vogue is the CDMA version. If you don't use a SIM card, then that's the CDMA version. You have a Vogue Touch.

If it worked for you and you use a SIM card, let me know, 'cause I'm gonna update my device too!

I read somewhere in these forums where this guy posted HTC Customer Service's reply to his email. He was asking if they had plans of releasing a WM6.1 update, and HTC replied that there will be one very soon...

I really hope they pull through this time.

I think so, Even I am getting same error when I enter serial no of my phone. I think this update has been release only for specific versions of HTC Touch GSM phones. It might be for elfin, which is also called as HTC touch..

Ok, it was already confirmed a couple of weeks ago that it's not going to work, so don't waste your time trying.

HTC mixed up their CDMA Touch with the GSM Touch... so the download link was on the wrong page (the GSM Touch one).

If you've got SIM card, your Touch is GSM version

AFAIK there is no official HTC Win6.1 upgrade suitable for the Elf, and none likely to appear. So do not try to install the Vogue upgrade or your phone will most likely stop working.

However, there are plenty of very good ROM upgrades around on XDA which are Win6.1 so why not try one of them? Most have pretty clear instructions of how to install ... but read these carefully before you start and make sure you understand them!

That statement is incorrect, thankfully ;) The availability of WM 6.1 for the HTC Touch was amongst the announced models to be upgraded when HTC issued it's first press release regarding WM 6.1.

i have a HTC touch (ELF 64/128) GSM unloacked i bought it in Egypt and i downloaded the rom upgrade you referred to and it is win mobile 6 not 6.1 no big differences except for less storage memory after update however a bit faster and more stable

There are 2 rom updates one arabic and the other WWE for middle east this may explain why others may have error message
