There is a bug with Windows Live. Even if I connected via WiFi and want to check my Hotmail emails, it always uses GPRS connection instead of the WiFi. The same problem was there in the 1.7 build :(

the version i'm using is the official shipped version .39.1300, I have use the .42.1900 but users in netherlands i think were having issues with that version

Oh oh !!
Ok I see

So I have already hard try the famous .39.1300 ... in france, with my operator, (probably no connexion but), it sucks ... it hang a lot, need to force close often, disconnect and reconnect
It's a real pain to use

Can I have a link to the Netherland version (in english of course, lol), the .42.1900 ? I will tell you after a day use if it's better.

Thanks

Are people still using MMS when emails are here at hand? I seriously hate the SMS/MMS joined together. Possible to strip out Arcsoft MMS too? I believe there's a cab for it so people can install that too if they wanna..

Hi Dutty,

Thanks for another great rom... just installed it now... so far so good... one thing I noticed (think it happened on v1.6 and you fixed it too) is the being unable to multiple select messages for deletion etc.

I have found a cab file to allow me to do this, but would be better if it was part of the rom...

thanks again for all your work on the roms!!

cheers

yeah the ultralite should give more results but wasnt expecting this much.

Also to clarify that spb benchmarks doesnt really give you a full meaning on how ur rom will runs. as soon as you start installing cabs the results will get lesser and lesser. but its nice to see that score for the ultralite:)

When to Hard Reset after Flashing a new ROM?

This question was asked in another ROMs thread and I thought I would ask it here too.

Does it matter when you do the hard reset post flash?

I typically do it when the when the screen comes up saying "Tap the screen to set up your WM device".

In the other thread the ROM creator recommended doing it after the OS had fully installed and specifically after TF3D had started up.

Any thoughts on this Dutty?

That's the way indeed - reccomended by 99% of Chefs. I red once the reason behind somewhere, something to do of removing redundant dll's etc before the new customization takes place to avoid that the new dll's do not over-write the old ones embedded dep inside the OS, so indeed before "tap the screen". But I migh have read wrongly.

On your previous points regarding GPS - (your are well experienced in this domain) I now manage to get real "cold starts" within 20 sec's after initiating GPS. How? re-import waypoints from previous settings :p
Not even required to run GPS update utility with this.

(clod starts before took between 2 to 10 minutes her in Taipei, 1-3 minutes with external GPS)

Re "How".

Because I was wrong.

Perhaps because you are in fact managing to download the ephemeris from the Satellites very quickly. On the other hand, perhaps the ephemeris is retained from the previous ROM. (Although this seems unlikely)

I am now think I was wrong with my previous statement/post. Time To First Fix (TTFF) can theoretically occur in 30/40 sec from cold start without out running QuickGPS because this is about how long it takes the unit to download the ephemeris from the Satellites in ideal conditions.

On the other hand the technique I described of hard reset followed by QuickGPS seemingly does lead to a good TTFF from my experience.

I just flashed this 1.8ROM right now and did two hard resets after loading it. Like you, I checked QuickGPS had not run and I was able to get TTFF in under a minute. This is with a new radio too, as this ROM took me back from .08 to .07.

My current thinking is perhaps the GPS chip in the unit can retain the ephemeris for some period. Yesterday I hard reset the unit and TTFF was virtually instantaneous < 5 seconds. So the Ephemeris had to survive that for the fix to be so quick. Obviously a ROM flash is more major. But I wonder how long the TTFF would be if one reflashed and then prior to activating the GPS left the unit for several hours without a battery?

So we have a bet each way ;)

Hard reset's at Option
1) "Tap the screen to set up your WM device"
or
2) Completion of OS setup process

Wonder if waiting for 2) achieves anything?

I wonder about 2) too? I do that because I have allways done that with all my HTC devices. But if you go for 2) so in that case everything is installed in the rom. In case 1) not. And Im not make a bet:D

Hi Dutty,

Not noticed in v1.6 where it was perfect , but reoccuring in 1.7B and 1.8 is the loss of Active sync connention when trying to use PDA active sync on 2 systems.
Know that this is not cooked ROM dependent, but we might point out the finger to the new OS build.

Anyone else whom can test active sync on 2 PC's simultanously (Xp and vista)
Procedure: Sync and leave device untouched. Device will disconnect in a certain time without notice.
Not a big burden though - only need to connect again to sync.
All the rest works perfect. Trying to replicate issue with WMP, but all's perfect. no error as mentionned by other posters above...

I share Pietreccu's idea that the Radio is or might be making the difference for reception /strength purpose. In previous flashes, with many ROM's TTFF on cold start took sometimes 10 minutes indeed. Even if running GPS 5 minutes after flash, Ephemeris is most likely not saved. Quickgps did not made a difference if ran or not upfront. (I did not ran it neither now)
I might be wrong again, but by exporting-importing the stored waypoints from withing GarminXT - where long-& latitudes are kept, I presume it is easier for the software to do the XYZ crossing vs the Sat's as there is more data available I presume?

Maybe other users whom report extreme fast fixes are having these Ephemeris still stored on the internalstorage card.

(maybe we should move the GPS related topics to another thread hehe :o)

:) As I already mention, great Lite ROM, but ...
my screen does not rotate with using of Gsen v1.7.
I set the "onlyfor" to (1) and choose the programs I want to rotate. In this case TomTom v7 - #Windows(MunichWinClass) - does not rotate.
Is this ROM related or not?

- Forgot manila's "tails": 2330fc3c_manila, _2330fc3c_manila. Or you need it?
- Taskmgr - 2 versions 3.0/3.1. Didn't understand yet - may you have the reason (one of them renamed).
- in phone canvas may better use new *.png straight, without renaming to *.bmp (3 min. by hexeditor - phcanhtc.dll)
- may better to install opera (& etc.) from outside the rom, by sdconfig, - mxip_initdb.vol is huge. Or you have the reason for it?
- didn't understand idea use opera files without opera9.exe. Or it still in the mxip_initdb.vol? Or something else.

Just a question, for phcanhtc :

If you do a png file for phone canvas, and you rename (not resaved) into bmp, they work ? so it's compressed ?
Does it speed up everything ?

After running pocket RAR, the .zip extension seemed to activate and the problems pertaining to attachments disappeared.

Same issue again in v1.8.

You cannot open a .zip e-mail attachment. You will receive error that says cannot find attachment re-download?

This can be fixed by running pocketRAR and making association with files, then opening attachments.

Dutty, I know you're going to give this a rest, but it could be a nice tiny fix to associate .zip files in 1.8.1

In file explorer go to

Yes, it works (you can see it in Dutty's ROM). I made several experiments, but have suspicion, that it is not the best way.
So, may better - a little hack phcanhtc.dll for change *.bmp to *.png & use png directly.
More here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=417208

Does it speed up everything ?
Not sure: may be OS need resources to unpack png to bitmap. Difficult to check.
But few % of memory economy ROM&RAM is the fact.

hey great rom dutty! everything is fast and stable! woo!

how do i remove the sms sent notification? i've disabled it in advanced config but its still on!

Confirmed this is a small bug.
Step proces:
Adv config 3.0 --> disable sms notif--> soft reboot --> bubble still appears when sms sent.

For sure the Chef will look into this and maybe revert back to disabled mode , ...and the guys from T-mobile can enable it themselves if really required (as that does work through adv.config)
I do use enabled mode myself - doesn't cost anything and assure the sms was sent out...

Ok, I found out how:

For Task Manager:
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\HTC\TaskManager:ManilaC ustomHlDown > 1343536
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\HTC\TaskManager:ManilaC ustomHlUp > 1343536

For Start Menu:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\HTC\EnlargeMenu:Manila CustomHlDown > 1343536
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\HTC\EnlargeMenu:Manila CustomHlUp > 1343536

Note: 1343536 is the closest gade of green I found that matched the original.

Create shortcuts in \Windows\Start Menu\Programs\ (Or any Sub folder)
You will see them in the Manila Programs list after this.

To create shortcuts you can use File Explorer or Total Commander...

If you don't like the new radio, you can always switch back to .05 version.

Hi,

I'm using Duttys 1.6 Full and i'm very happy with the its GPS performance (timetofix, lag and precision).

Now i'm thinking in try 1.8 but the GPS is very important to me.

Any of you who have already tried 1.6 and 1.8 can give me an opinion about any diference in the GPS usage?

Thanks for the help.

I cannot discern any difference with the GPS in 1.8 as compare with 1.6. Works fine as far as I can tell. Any defence would IMO be immeasurable. Keep in mind that GSen is not working with 1.8 though if you are planning to use it to rotate your GPS apps.

Rotate function is more than enough when viewing pictures (the one native supported rotation) for me.. so nothing bad cuz gsen is not working here... :)

I desided too, to give a try for the new rom... so far everything seems running nice & smooth.. well see in a few days of frequent use how the new rom is working...

Keep up the good work Dutty!

I installed the 1.8 version yesterday and itīs working great so far...

One thing: Until now and all this version, this is, by far, the faster GPS fix I had..

It fixes the GPS in less than one minute every time I start GPS test or TomTom...

And no issues until now...

Great ROM!!!

Search feature not working? PEBKAC?

Any how so I used the recommended HARDSPL, and it wont install, wrong model? Can I force it to install? Will that hurt anything?

I'm using 3.56 and its saying it wont install Dutty with that? Can I force that?

Dutty,

I've been upgrading to each of your successive roms with no problems. They are all great and really improve the perfomance of my diamond. Yesterday however after upgrading to 1.8, I had a couple of lock ups during ActiveSync at two different times. One resulted in not receiving sms for an hour or so (I hadn't noticed it was locked up). So far today no issues. I just thought I would bring it up. So far I am only using ActiveSync with one PC. Thanks again for all your work on behalf of the community.

PS. Is there a reason that you are not supporting UC Compliance? Did I miss a post or a bug somewhere?

Regards,

Z.

As always, Dutty, you are the f**king man.

I'm shocked you've yet to get bored with this gig, and I hope you never do (except when I move to a new device, in which case I'm moving to whichever one you do :P).

Dear Dutty,

Thank you for really great job.
Using V 1.8 FULL and I am really happy, fast and stable ROM.

Only few issue:
1. Cyberon Voice dialer is unable to activate by HTC original handsfree, although I can redial last call, answer the call normally on my handsfree.

2. Unable to drag the stylus down the inbox to select multiple messages. Then press and hold to select "delete" to get rid of multiple messages.

3. Is it possible to add by myself additional language layouts to Diamond keyboard.

Quick update, been really busy last few days, but eventually I think I fix GSEN isue in my rom

I have tried it in most apps including solitare, gps test, file explorer and it auto switches to landscape within 1-2 seconds.

So any future release will be GSEN compatable now.:)

Back to work.

I have use the rom for few days now and no issues on my side

Another great job...

Well done on fixing the QWERTY keyboard font.
The only other thing I'm having a problem with is...

I always change my home screen to have the small clock rather than the big flip one. When I charge the phone and take it off charge, it automatically reverts back to the flippy one again. It didn't do this on the stock ROM.
Not a big deal, but a pain, as I can;t really see my wallpaper with the big clock!

I do not know what you refer to with "small vs big clock" (it is supposed to be like that tha the big one always shows up) , but can reccomend to go shopping in the "clocks for Diamond" thread and download - install any clock you want. There are transparent clocks available whci let you look through and visualize your wallpaper.

Not sure if anybody else is having issues with the email tabs,
I go to email and it seems to freeze, I cant get to the messageing section, happend one before. I have hard reset it once to see if that fixes the issues (as I had made some changed to the manilla colours and tabs etc.)
Next option is to reflash... ( I did hard reset after flash also)

Great roms! I had first the v1.8 Full version now I have the Lite one and now when I found the HTC Taskmanager-cab for it;) I just love it! I got so much better pictures with this new Camera firmware, the picture quality increase so much i cant belive its taken with the same device. With the stock rom the pictures was just s...! Havent have any issues with the F or L roms at all, ofcourse I dont use everything in a full rom but that I have used workt just perfect. One thing I did, I downloaded the radio to .05 because its seems to work better for me. Good job Dutty and looking forward to future releases!

When you load up the Diamond as standard you get a big clock that flips every time the minute changes (the one in the pic on the 1st page of this thread). Underneath that you have 'call history' and 'calender' and under them is a tiny down arrow.
If you swipe your finger UP on the home screen it then changes to a normal small clock instead of the large flip style one.
I'll have a look at the other clocks though - there might be something that tickles my fancy! :D

Dutty...
Any reason why this ROM would eat the battery quicker? I have exactly the same programs installed as on your 1.6 ROM, and I'm at 3/4 battery after 5 hours - and I haven't made a single call, text, internet etc? Previously I could almost go 12 hours before it would drop to 3/4?

You flash the radio as you flash the Rom. Pick a radio here
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=407956 and the Custom RUU here
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=396073

This ROM is for the HTC Diamond so it is not compatible. If you managed to flash it you will brick your phone. You have a ATT Tilt / Kaiser. So you need to get a rom from Kaiser Rom Development (http://forum.xda-developers.com/forumdisplay.php?f=378).

I suspect your confusion is caused by the fact that you will find Kaiser/Tilt Roms that have the Diamond interface (Clock etc) running on them. But they are still Kaiser ROMs and that is what you need.

Hi Dutty et al,

The unfortunate thing about these forums is that most posts will be critical, pointing out issues, addressing problems and asking questions in general. Apart from the odd thank you and complimentary post, people usually have no reason to simply list all the things that DO work, so appear to be outnumbered by posts of criticism or negativity.

With that in mind I want to start by saying how much I (and this community) appreciates this ROM and all your ongoing work and support. I had to start this post like that so as not to appear to only concentrate on problems. Far from it - this is our ROM of choice and hence the occasional list of bugs, glitches, requests and questions that we hope you can resolve for future releases...

In addition to your usual load of OEM updates, newer core etc, please could you also consider updating the following 'extra' apps to their latest versions:

Total Commander 2.50 (2.51)
Pocket RAR 3.8 b3 (1.8 beta 4)
ClearTemp 0.9.8.4 (1.0.3) - 4 versions old!
Task Manager-dotfreds 3.0 (3.1) (any chance of including his PIMBackup tool as it is vital after a ROM update?)
Pocket Screen 1.3 (up-to-date)
PocketNotepad 4.0.10 (up-to-date)
GB-SOFT Tweak 10.07.2008 (up-to-date)
Paint-pdacraft - gone in 1.8. Is there any particular reason you decided to abandon this app? Perhaps PocketPicture would be a worthy replacement? http://osdmsoftware.googlepages.com/pocketpicture
PHM Regedit - Not in the rom but still listed on the first post. I assume this was replaced in functionality by both Total Commander and Task Manager's plugins?

Here are some minor bugs or cosmetic issues. Dutty, we'd love your clarification on the questions when you get a sec. Please could other users confirm or let us know of their own opinions and experiences.:

MS Word shortcut name.

Rename Office Word Mobile to just "Word Mobile" in keeping with other office apps.

SMS Confirmation Bubble (ongoing)

Allow user-setting of 'SMS Sent/Failed' Notification bubble through registry edit/tools. Currently user is unable to disable though known registry key. No idea why this doesn't work as it would allow changing in 1.6. My preference is enabled by default, which I'm certain no one would have an issue with if they could disable it themselves.

CABs are unable to create shortcuts into supplied start-menu sub-folders.

User installed apps that attempt to create shortcuts into your supplied start-menu folders fail to create shortcuts. E.g. the Microsoft OneNoteMobile cab from your site will try to create a shortcut in the "Office Mobile" start-menu/programs folder, however it seems to fail creating this shortcut. Manual creation of shortcuts into these folders is working though. Any ideas?

File-menu White-out bug.

Some apps have a 'different' style bottom menu bar which has the SIP selector at the far right e.g. Total Commander (File/Show) and Pocket RAR (File/Tools). With these apps, clicking the file menu items at the bottom makes the 'selected' menu item totally white so the selected word becomes invisible. This glitch was not the case on previous roms.

MS Voice Command UK-localised for number format & dialling?

Is your included MSVC the US or UK version? My colleagues and myself seem to have problems using it to dial numbers. The spoken command "DIAL" followed by a UK format telephone number is hardly ever recognised accurately. The general idea from this guide http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=391262 is to always install the UK-localised version of voice command as a base, then overwrite with the few newer versioned replacement files. This leaves all the settings, voices and dependancies as UK specific versions.

Power Button mapped PSShutXP

Have you seen the cab (holyfox's_poweroff-diamond.cab) at the very bottom of this post: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=2405349&postcount=3
It is a version of PSShutXP newer than available on the applications own home-page. It includes the 'best/most accurate' Diamond skin available and maps to a long hold of the actual power button. Short press still does usual standby, just long press displays PSShutXP - much more useful that the standard Power Off warning box! Give it a whirl and I'm sure it will end up as a permanent fixture!

User Customization

Any possibility to support 'User Customisation' in future (does sdconfig.txt even work with internal storage folder?!) If not, can I direct interested users to SASHIMI http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=392983

Calculator Skin (sorry-other!)

Really sorry to propose this one again. I know you already changed the Calc skin so sorry if this is a pain. Being an app that we rely on very frequently, please can you use this skin instead as it fits better with Manilla and the dialler: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=419777.

If you need any of the files or CABs for each of the above (inc UK MSVC if it's not what you used) please let me know and I am happy to oblige.

Okay, that concludes another of my ridiculously long posts (does anybody read them when they're this long?!). Apologies for any long-windedness.

..

Nice Post Adam,

Couple of quick things.

PPCPimBackup.exe is a standalone app that does not need to be installed. So I just keep a copy of PimBackup in Internal Storage. That way it is always there for me to run/use after a ROM update. It is not actually essential for it to be in the ROM. On the other hand, placing it in the ROM itself marginally more convenient, so it is probably agood idea.

I was looking at Sashimi yesterday and from what I can see it appears to have 'User Customisation' incorporated and actually uses SDConfig.txt to do the heavy lifting as directed by Mortscript as far as I can tell (you will find it in the \Sasimi\ucint folder). Sashimi is of course Diamond compatible. So this would seem to be a good sign for making a Diamond ROM itself UC compatible. At this point I do not think I will be using Sashimi as it creates a whole heap of folder and shortcuts and the interface is somewhat complicated. All for a tool that I envisiage using once only afer installing a ROM. My prefernece is definatley to have the 'User Customisation' cooked into the ROM if it can be made to work.

Something else that just occurred to me - UC by default, installs everything to main memory. I do not believe you can get around this limitaiton unless you go an edit each and every CAB file. I iimagine most Diamond users are like me and install pretty well everything to \Internal Storage. This may reduce the usefulness of UC somewhat in this environment.

Again nice post,
Regs

Logger.

My internet worked fine on HSDPA for a day, but now it wont connect at all.
Works now only with GPRS..
Any ideas?

Thanks in advance...

Hi guys,

Radio 1.00.25.07.
Rom Dutty 1.8

That is strange. I updated to 1.8 the other day with .07 radio and GPRS stopped working for me! HSDPA works fine as usual but as soon as HSDPA becomes unavailable, im left with no internet!

I called T-Mobile CS today and they said that they are having problems with GPRS only with Web N Walk and things should be up and running again within the next 48 hours!

Relax man. It's good to put some effort in your problem before posting right away. If you seach for manila with for example Google you can find enough CAB files for you device to run manila again.

ROM cookers are here to help you, so are we! You can't expect a cook to be just answering all of the questions, there's a reason why we use the forum and don't use the PM system all the time ;)

Hard to tell, newer isnt always better as you know, but since i dont have any other suggestions to solve your problem a upgrade might do it.

My opinion is that 1.8 is just as good as 1.6 and it solved a problem i had with getting the phone to connect to my cars bluetooth system.

These are likely generic questions rather than dutty specific, but I thought I would ask here first in case there are specific pieces of software already included in the 1.8 rom (please guide me to somewhere else if the answers exist off this forum).

How can I get email messages to make a noise on arrival during daylight hours, but go quiet after say 10pm till 8am?

Also, is there a way to keep the phone on? I'd like to use trackme, but I'm worried the phone will go into sleep mode and stop transmitting data.

Thanks for your help,

Hello, Hope this problem hasnt been stated before. If it has, I dont mind getting flamed ! :)
Anyway, I have a problem with this latest 1.8 rom. Seems that screen is not sensitive to taps on the lfar left hand side of the screen. Even if I go onto the draw note application it stops drawing about 2 - 3 millimeteres from the edge of the screen (Left hand Side). I have tried to recalibrate the touch screen and it does not help ?
Anyone with the same problem ?

When you use the Custom_RUU it dont remove anything

Hmm..by the way the Custom Ruu is already in the radio files so pick one and flash;)

Thanks for the links. I updated this morning, and the battery is looking much better after about 6 hours than it was yesterday. Apart from that this ROM is great. Thanks Dutty.

This is a cross-post from the 'Definitive MSVC Guide' thread here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=391262

It will be of interest to UK users of MS Voice Command - especially those that like to use the "DIAL" command to call spoken telephone numbers.

Hi, could sum1 please mention the differences between Voice Command US & UK? <snip> Are the recognition systems the same, or is it just that the announcements are more american sounding?

The recognition is not only suited for british dialects (over 40 of them I think), but it also handles number parsing differently when using the "dial" command. It is geared towards the international dialing codes as opposed to U.S. However, if you use "Call" contact instead of "dial" number that gets around those issues.

Hi Bengalih et al,

Thank you for the splendid guide and all your effort.

I have been tinkering with the multitude of MSVC versions and files to get it working on my Diamond and those of my staff at T-Mobile. Now, thanks to Dutty's awesome cooked 1.8 ROM, we have integrated v1.6.19965!

Fortunately nearly everything seems to be working fine - except dialling via the "DIAL" command.

From our own investigations, using the base UK retail 1.6.4622 allows the "dial" feature to work with UK format telephone numbers.
Every other newer version mentioned on the first post, including the newest 19965 edition results in the first digit never being recognized as a "0" "zero" or "oh". It seems to want to substitute for a "1" or "+ plus".

I have inspected all registry entries between the UK & US editions and cannot find anything that would lead to different number parsing. I have also tried trial-and-error substitution of each file/exe/dll/library to pinpoint what might be responsible for this recognition difference.

Regardless of which edition I use - even the new 19965 - there is only one file which changes the recognition of the "dial" number format. "VoiceCmdRes_PPC.dll".

If I leave every other file as per the newer US editions then replace this file with the retail sourced UK 4622, the number parsing works for UK localisation. Likewise if I begin with a retail UK 4622 install and only replace that single file with a newer version, the dial feature becomes unusable again. This leads me to believe that this .dll is responsible for some, if not all, of the recognition ability and certainly evidence that it is the cause of number format parsing.

As far as you are aware, what exactly is the purpose and function of this file? Is it safe to use an older version together with newer .exe, cpl and every other library, or might it be missing other required functions/calls, even leading to other issues of which I am unaware? Considering it is one of the four key files suggested for replacement with Win 6.1, there must be some dependency or requirement that would not work when using the newer MSVC versions with the older 4622 VoiceCmdRes_PPC.dll.

If it is actually only holding the regional-specific (US vs UK vs DE, etc) dialect recognition, spoken command differences, etc, then surely it would not be a required replacement file and should be recommended to leave as per the latest (4622) UK-regional specific version.

Your time and help is very much appreciated.
Best regards,
Adam R. Hirshfield

P.S. even when using the latest US edition, it is possible to 'work around' this issue by using the international format numbers with the "DIAL" command. i.e. "DIAL +'plus'44 208 1234". This will allow one to dial UK numbers with the US edition!

No problem dude. Im using .07 radio atm and previously used .05 without issue. TBH, I cant see any major differences between the 2 signal wise. As far as I am aware, GPRS is up and running again.

Anyways, here's my setting as automatically applied to my MDA compact IV after the new ROM installation:

Access point: general.t-mobile.uk
Username: T-mobile (other sites state 'user' as the username)
Password: Currently hidden but various sites report using either 'one2one' or 'wap'

Might be a stupid question, but do you have HSDPA enabled? Go to settings->connections->advanced network to find out.

Hey dutty :)

Im having some problems thou... I dont know if it has to do with the Diamond TF3D Config tool, cuz when i change it to Swedish everything is well exxept 2 places where its either in english or in manilla code:

"Contacts" its in english even thou ive changed to Swedish (I think it has to do with u changing the AdressBook bug thingy)

And in the messages TAB, if i press Menu and whant to forward the message it says : IDS_MESSAGING_FORWARD

2 Minor things ;)

But one major, i dont know if this has to do with Manilla being in swedish again or putting the Region in System setting to Sweden but i get this msg:

Voice Command
Voice Command has quit due to low memory. Close running programs and try again

The thing is it comes up every time i restart the phone, so i really dont think it has to do with memory at all...

Should i reinstall the ROM to fix it or is it something else.

I know the first two problems will still be there thou until u fix it.

U are tha man ;)

Dutty, are you sure you did not used the UK MSVC already?
I do here the difference clearly vs. my previous used US MSVC .

Don't know if the command "Dial" - vs. "Call" is UK- US specific, though when I give a command like " Call xxxx mobile", the misses clearly asks "Call xx MOBIIIIIL?? (UK spoken) (not "mobaaaaaajle" US) :)

I might be wrong though - but I think you also posted somewhere that you did used the Uk version.

That's cool Dutty, you are welcome to try as two heads are better than one, however I fear it is probably not even possible as the last UK-specific version (I can find) was 1.6.4622 (retail).

As I posted above, the ONLY single file that seems to make this version UK specific is the 'VoiceCmdRes_PPC.dll'.

I proposed (and have been trying on my device) using this single UK file with the latest voice command 1.6.19965 as included in your ROM, however this is probably not a safe solution as explained in the below quote from the MSVC thread.

I attach the 1.6.4622 UK version of this file to the post for you and anyone who likes fiddling about with this sh*t as much as me! Just disable MSVC in the control panel, overwrite the file in /Windows then re-enable MSVC (maybe also soft-reset). Then try using the "DAIL" command with a UK number beginning "0" saying 'Dial oh...' or 'Dial Zero...' and so on. It WILL work now. Remove the file to revert to the ROM included version and the same 'DIAL' command will NEVER work. It will always try to substitute "0" with "1" or "plus"!

As I said, this solution might brake other things as explained here:

Okay, small update with partial answer to my own question!
I have now used the "Resource Hacker" application (http://angusj.com/resourcehacker/) to view all the resources inside the library VoiceCmdRes_PPC.dll

It is certainly more complex than I imagined and is probably NOT safe (at first glance) to leave as an older version in use with newer MSVC exes. I may know more if I spend the time to compare every last resource detail between the 4622 and later dlls.

For info, this file contains all the WAV files for 'canned' responses, all the small images/icons used throughout MSVC, every piece of dialogue, grammar, and as expected all the recognised commands. Extracted details attached (from 19213 US version). My guess is that if any of these resources mismatch the rest of the MSVC expectations, things could go awry.

So best leave alone and make do with the later US editions until M$ pull their finger out! Until then remember it has always been possible to dial using untrained contacts with the 'CALL' command and if UK-syntax number dialling is required a work around it to use the international number format by saying "DIAL" then "plus44" followed by the number without a leading 0-zero.

Hope this is all useful.
Kind regards,
Adam

You are of course welcome to look at the dll resources yourself in 'Resource Hacker' and help determine a solution.

In response to the above, when inspecting the dll in Resource Hacker, Dutty's ROM included version 19965 (and every other recent version) clearly states all the Dialog and recognition is "SUBLANG_ENGLISH_US" whereas only the 1.6.4266 version states "SUBLANG_ENGLISH_UK".

Unless you, or anyone here, know of a newer UK-specific version it is not worth the time and effort and may actually brake other things in your otherwise 'best version' and diamond-functional MSVC.

Thanks and regards as always,
Adam

Don't know if the command "Dial" - vs. "Call" is UK- US specific, though when I give a command like " Call xxxx mobile", the misses clearly asks "Call xx MOBIIIIIL?? (UK spoken) (not "mobaaaaaajle" US) :)

I might be wrong though - but I think you also posted somewhere that you did used the Uk version.

its definitely a US cingular msvc version, didnt do anything to it , strange lol

I'm not sure about the voice command thingy seems its related when u changed ur language, I will try and fix the other two, remember what i said about voice command thats it just support english, thats why i make it standalone rom.:)

Im having 20 sec longer GPS fix with .7 radio instaed of the .8.
Is it really wise to go back to .7? I think the battery time is worse too in .7.

Just use the one that works best for you. Alot of things can make .7 work less good for you, but better for others compared to .8

...and why use the rom u are using and not the other ??

For instance I have randomly picked the topic according to nr. of replys... so I decided to try with Duttys rom.. I like it cuz is way much better than the original HTC rom.. And I never intend to flash anything else but Duttys rom-s... :) Thats my way of looking at things :) Its now up to you to decide or to test each of the roms wich suits you better..

P.S. ;) I suggest that you try with Duttys v.1.8 hihi

All Roms, official or cooked, with version 1.93 or higher htc remove all the fancy animated stuff from the diamond to increase speed and performance

The screen caps on the first post are accurate. The new roms dont remove touch flo 3d just the transition animation when you flick from one screen to the next.
Your screen should still look like the pics on the first page.

OK!

Hi dutty just thought I would stop by and say thanks for the ROM. I tried 1.8 on my Compact IV, it was the first time I've tried to flash a device. I enjoyed the customisations in the full version, all looked and felt really nice, a nice speed boost compared to what I was used to.

I did have issues with Opera; it would close when loading csome URLs such as Gmail. After some Googling I realised this is an issue with Opera - I don't understand why it works fine in an earlier build and then craps out (what are they playing at) but anyway, that's another topic... Like why I used to be able to run more than 3 tabs and never had issues with memory on my TyTn II.

I couldn't get Live or YouTube working for love nor money, but I'm experiencing issues with another ROM I have installed so I don't think your build was at fault.

Edit: I think yout .07 radio may be having issues with T-Mobile UK? Reverted to .05 and no problems.

But anyway, thanks again. ;)

I have managed to find what is causing this problem and don't know whether it is unique to this ROM. I definitely don't remember this issue on 1.6 and have now already updated all the T-Mob staff devices to 1.8 - but perhaps another user of this older ROM, stock, or other, can confirm for us.

The today theme "HTC Black" is used to set the system-wide colour scheme. I am not sure whether Manilla is supposed to override any of these settings when it is loaded - but in this case, does not.

The "HTC Black.tsk" file creates, among others, the following registry key:

HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Today\HTC Black.tsk\Color_CommandBarText_Highlight\0x0000000 1,FF,FF,FF,00

This results in the selected-state command-bar menu having WHITE text as in Screenshot-1 (please see attachment).

While it does not cause much issue with the off-white or gradient coloured menus of normal today-screen style menus like above, it does cause the 'invisible menu text' effect on applications like Total Commander (Screenshot-2), Pocket RAR (Screenshot-3) and many others.

A solution I found is to entirely remove the Color_CommandBarText_Highlight key from the above registry path, leaving it default colour Black. Setting the same key to "00 00 00 00" would achieve the same.

This changes the selected-state command-bar menu text to BLACK resulting in Screenshot-4,5 & 6 - which I'm sure you will agree is much better.

Now, I'm not sure whether this issue is specific to this 1.8 ROM, was previously overridden by an older Manilla release, would be fixed with a future Manilla/HTC update or was even always the case. Looking at the other keys set by the HTC Black.tsk theme, it is possible that this issue could also be occurring with other Black/White portions of the system texts & menus.

I can always try previous Manilla releases and even an older/stock ROM to see if this issue is evident, but was hoping for other users and Dutty's feedback. Any ideas what, if anything, has changed here...

Best regards,
Adam

Right...

I've fixed it, not sure what actually fixed it in the end but here's what I did.

Went into settings>connections>advanced network like you said and the HSDPA option had "Enable HSDPA only" selected. the other two options were "Enable HSDPA/HSUPA" and "disable" I selected "Enable HSDPA/HSUPA" and that seemed to do it!

Still strange as the first option is the same, unless T-mob Uk runs on HSUPA instead on HSDPA...

Really appreciate your help man. The only one that did.

Jus another thing bugging me, does the you tube app work for you? All I get is, "No videos"...
