Did you get TT7 working with TOMTOM Home 2.3? I tried, but my Touch Pro is not recognized as device. Without the device being listed, I cannot buy a map and load it to the TP...

Do a search in the kaiser section ... the answer is there somewhere. I know that when i installed TT7 on my Kaiser, i had to rename and move the installation folder. An error would still be reported by TT Home, however this could be ignored, and sync would then happen normally.

I have TT7 working fine and very fast on my Pro and on my Diamond - version 7.450.9028 with the official Diamond Maps purchased, downloaded and installed from tomtom.com - the Diamond Ver 7 maps are specifically designed for the VGA screen but actually take up less memory?

Also - both versions of TomTom home also work well but I preffer ver 2.3 as it was easier to add the extra's such as Map Styles, new voices and a car icons!

Hope that helps? :cool:

The touch pro does not have TT7, however you can get the cab from the kaiser forum. Maps can be purchased from Tom TOm - select the TOuch Diamond under map ugrade.

TT7 works great also on my Touch Pro (as long as no other programs are running, which preferably should be the case). Can't compare to TT7 on the Diamond though since I don't have one, but can only assume that the extra RAM on the Touch Pro could be making the difference here!??

tomtom 7 works okey and responds fine, however, comparing it with a tomtom one and for example passing a river, it seems to lag 50 meter behind, so you get the directions a little later then it should be :(

So this way you may mis an exit.

OK, TT7 and Touch Pro is killing me... I tried a number of things and I cannot get it to work with MapShare. The device never shows up in TOMTOM Home. So here are some specific questions:

Which version to install?

a) ttn7.cab (12351909 Bytes)
b) TT_Nav_7.450.9028_repack3-vga-black.cab (12348539 Bytes)

The Navigator folder should be moved to Program Files with following content?

contacts, itn, logging, microbrowser, sounds, voices, CurrentMap.dat, data.chk, navigator.cfg, TomTom Navigator.exe, ttnavigator.bif, UserPatch.dat

Is that correct?

The bif file has the following content:

[TomTom NAVIGATOR]
DeviceName=HTC-RAPHAEL
DeviceVersionHW=Windows CE 5.2
DeviceSerialNumber=<removed>
DeviceUniqueID=<removed>
ApplicationVersion=7450
ApplicationBuildNumber=9028
UserName=<removed>
UserPassword=<removed>
CurrentColorSchemeBuiltIn=0
CurrentVoiceInfo=Jane
Features=PlusDownloadDynamic,PlusDownloadGeneral,P lusDownloadMap,PlusDownloadPOI,PlusDownloadScheme, PlusDownloadUpgrade,PlusDownloadVoice,PlusDownload RingTone,PlusMessageNotification,PlusPushChannel,P lusTraffic,PlusWeather,PlusBuddies,PlusMobileSafet yCameras,PlusRoadConditions,PlusFixedSafetyCameras ,PlusOnlineCamera,Newyork,Itinerary,Caymann,Durham ,Handsfree,PhoneFeatures,CarSymbol,SDSlot,SMSSuppo rted,SupportKeyControl

UserPatchDatVersion=102
CompressedPatchVersion=150
MapServerPatchDatVersion=104
DeletedPoiDatVersion=200
ServerLineIndexDatVersion=102
ServerNameIndexDatVersion=102

And a link needs to be in the StartMenu/Programs...

But all this did not work. Any suggestions?

Thanks

Make sure the tomtom app is installed under "navigator" and not "Intern guheugen". Create a new directory under root and copy all the files across. Tomtom Home should then recognise your device.

I have TomTom 6 on my Touch Pro and it works stonkingly well, no real difference in performance from my old Navman. I had to turn off "assisted GPS" in Schaps advanced config though cos it kept losing the signal every 5 seconds or so with it enabled.

Still working on this one... It looks like the TOMTOM Home application is looking for the ttnavigator.bif on the device and once it finds it, the device is listed? Can someone confirm this? By just copying a ttgo.bif file to the root of a removabale media, this is being recognized by TTH as a device. And the older verion of TTH works with the TP having ttnavigator.bif in Program Files\Navigator. Any suggestions on how to solve this puzzle?

What is the difference between TT_Nav_7[1].450.9028_repack3-vga-black.cab and TT_Nav_7[1].450.9028_repack1-vga-black.cab.
I have now installed TT_Nav_7[1].450.9028_repack1-vga-black.cab whit the 7.20 maps for the go or tomtom one and they are working but i have one problem, the poi are to smal on the vga.
Is that fixed in the TT_Nav_7[1].450.9028_repack3-vga-black.cab or is that fixed in the maps 7.20 for the diamond?

I did some more test on the device not being recognized issue. When generating a bif file with just one line containing"deviceserilnumber= V12345" and copying it on a removable drive, TTH recognizes this device. Wherever I create a file on the TP (also tried the serial # from a working Diamond), the TP is not listed in TTH. Any thoughts? Or is there a change one could do to a TTH function to solve this? This message was written on the TP - I like this keyboard...

How did you change the link in StartMenu > Program to Tom Tom Navigator.exe once you move the folder Navigator to Program fies. Because TTN7 originally installed under "Intern geughen". But if I move the Navigator folder from IG folder to Program Files, obviously the TOMTOM shortcut in the programs menu doesn't work.

Secondly, so far I am not ableto get my Touch Pro detected by Tom Tom Home 2.3. :mad:

I bought maps from TomTom site for Xda Diamond maps for tom tom 7. but Tom Tom Home 1.5 was detecting device but not detecting tom tom 7 on the device hence unable to download bought maps. Hence updated home version to 2.3 (for GO) however Touch Pro not detected in Home. Device is detected by computer and windows mobile center activated and connected to TP.

I've installed TT7 using one of the cabs listed and have downloaded a free city map - can't see anyway in the settings to switch it to landscape other than sliding out the keyboard, but it reverts to portrait when the keyboard is slid back.

Other than that it appears to work ok.

hmmz, i've obtained a TT7 cab and it contains a key-gen. I also obtained a map for TT7 and i've tried, just for testing purposes off-course, the navigator and the map on my P3300.

So I have had a response from TomTom;
"Dear Mr Halfpenny,

Thank you for contacting TomTom Customer Support. Your reference for your query is xxxx.

Our 2nd line have confirmed that the software version of Navigator 7 that is on your device is not supported, so we can only submit a refund request for your map purchase.

Your request to have order number xxx refunded has been escalated to our Orders Team.

Please note that refund requests can take up to 3 working days to approve.

Please let us know if you have further questions in the mean time.

With Best Regards,
TomTom Customer Support Team."

The version the 2nd line Support Team are refering to is TT7.450 (9028).

So if any of you guys have got TT7 working on a Touch Pro AND downloaded the officially purchased TT7 Western Europe maps via TT Home 2.3 - how have you done this and what version of TT7 cab are you using ??

TT7 works great on my Touch Pro, but...it's not legal. Today I have read an article on mobilecowboys.nl, TomTom will release a Touch Pro Navigator version in september. Read the article (http://www.mobilecowboys.nl/toestellen/8001) in Dutch.

TT7 works here on my TP. I copied TT7 from the touch diamond from my girlfriend. But TT home doesn't recognise it (it does recognise the diamond where the files are in the same location). Also on the TP whenever I use the hardware keyboard I get the letter I type plus an extra letter (an a with an accent on it). That's quite annoying. Has anyone else have the same problem on the TP and can it be resolved ?

Here too an official press release (in Dutch) stating that from the middle of September in NL and Belgium that HTC Touch Pro's will be shipped packaged with a version of Tomtom allowing Map Share technology.

http://www.tomtom.com/news/category.php?ID=4&NID=574&Lid=5&TT=7a1281a6%3Ababa37bd%3A00000000%3A00000000%3A000 00000%3A00000000%3Ag5bkp404j181e5u6cfqjv74c92

So, is this TT7, or as some Dutch forums are suggesting an ammended version of TT6 with Map Share technologie ??

You can also see on the Tomtom NL website under Products that they have a link for TT7 that comes pre-installed on the "Vodafone Touch Diamond".

What about us Touch Pro owners who want to use Tomtom legally, maybe we just have to buy TT6 on DVD - saw a copy today for EUR90 including Western Europe maps or will this "new version" be available for existing owners as the news on the Tomtom website states that their will be a SD card with the new version on bundled with Touch Pro's ??

After installing tomtom 6, you should not change any gps settings within tomtom. However, make sure that it is set to internal gps. Also, do not change any settings in the "external gps" app in the device settings page.

did you try to attach the touch pro to a pc with the usb drive option and let tomtom home put the maps on the storagecard (the driveletter is showing up when you connect the device to pc)

gps of touch pro should be set to : other NMEA GPS , baudrate 57600, com 4

to get this working properly from the box :

do not come near any gps settings !
go to start > programs and run QuickGPS
in this program you find an update button.. update it... then exit the program..
install tomtom on main memory and put a map on storagecard OR in My documents folder on the device (or storagecard)
run it and get it to show the map
in the blue box below you see no GPS or waiting for gps and on the right of that u see this bar . press this .. it shows statusscreen. on the right you see this bar on the right which says 0 sattelites... press that.. now you get the gps screen.. lower left corner u see this button to set the gps device..
press that.. select other NMEA GPS and press ok and choose com4... press ok..
now you have to go outside and stay on one spot and wait for it to get a fix.. this can take up to 10 minutes so you might want to take a smoke with you :)

Got the same 2 problems only the lag seems to be a bigger problem on my TP. In one case it was a few 100 meters behind the actual position, when waiting for a traffic light my TT7 was still driving towards that trafficlight :( Bit annoying and if anyone knows a solution please share

I also have the same problem with the physical keyboard.
As for these maps where can i buy US maps for TT7? I went to their site but when i selected TT7 and the touch diamond as my device it only gave me the option of buying maps of europe. Have they not made maps of the US for TT7 yet? And if not would i be able to use my TT6 maps instead?

I think that maps for the US are available.
The reason why you don't get the option in the menu is because you put HTC Diamond (maybe too new in the US). Try to dl US map TomTom7 for another device.
Regarding the TomTom6 I tested it aswell (already had it, before buying the TT7) and it works.

Unfortunately when i select Navigator 7 it asks me to select a device (unlike TT6) and only 3 variants of the Touch Diamond are on the list. Non of which have maps outside of Europe available.

Guys we have the same LAG problems (2 /3 seconds Lag) in the diamond section.

Diamond and touch Pro are the most advanced telephones from HTC so i hope they could post a solution soon (maybe a radio rom?).

When using an older version of TomTom, does the lag still persist? Or is it gone then? If the lag is gone than the problem is not the radio ROM I guess.

I am not able to test this but if anybody would like to try and report it back here, please do so.

Hmmm i dont think its a software's fault.
i have tried tomtom7,Igo 8, Sygic Mcguider, garmin, google maps (yeah also google maps) they all have 2/3 seconds Lag (maybe 4 seconds).

They all Work without a lag and very fast on an old P3600 trinity.

its really frustrating. Hope HTC could solve this problem or diamond and raphael will be the most disappointing devices ever made.

Hi Guys,

I faced the same problem: 100 meter lag, even on a bicycle :eek:
So I did a hard-reset, and installed only TTN7: still the same.
Starting to wondering whether the Touch Pro is a piece of sh.t, I did another hard reset.
And then a 100Watt bulb started to glow: Let's install the program in Internal Memory.

And gues what: That did the trick.
Just a minor lag of about 5 meters, but that's something we can mitigate!
Now it's acceptable.

I hope it's also the solution for all you folks.
Please give us some feedback.

Well, I installed it in main memory from the beginning and i have major lag-issues.

Can some more people confirm that their lag problem is solved when they install TT in main memory?

Thanks

I wonder of the lag is caused by the size of the map and the speed of the SD card.

Some time ago (on a previous PDA) I installed the complete Western Europe map (almost a Gb) and TT started working very slowly. I changed over to the UK maps (less than 200Mb) and it lost all lag.

I had no lag on the Diamond using the UK map and TT7. I now have a couple of seocnds lag on the Pro - I have the program in main memory and the map on the card. My SD card is quite old and is not SDHC.

I therefore wonder whether the problem is that TT7 needs a fast SD card and/or the use of small maps.

I use the BeNeLux map (v720.1802) witch is only 63MB. the map is located om my 8GB micro sdhc class 4 and TT7 is installed on my main memory
result: LAG! (about 20/30 meters)

so I don't think it has anything to do with the size of the map or what kind of memory card you use

I haven't got round to using TT7 on my Pro yet but I had TT6 (Preinstall) on my Touch cruise and there was a lag with European speed cameras installed. I removed all but left UK only and the problem went away!

Got the same radio and ROM versions like Tom2402 and the same TT7 version only the W&CE map instead of the C&EE map. But my TomTom lags enormously, sometimes over 100 meters behind the actual position!! :(

Could this problem be fixed with a Radio Rom update by HTC?

Hope it can be fixed/made better since it's advertised as offering "turn by turn" gps navigation. Under UK consumer law at least, that would be a false statement and the gps function could be described as "not fit for purpose" according to that, which would entitle an owner to a full refund under those grounds...

Is there an option to turn on landscape mode while using TT7?
I only get it work when first changing it in settings and then launch TT7 in start menu, cause I need to avoid tflo3d otherwise the screen will go back to portret again...

Gsen also don't work, so anybody another option?

After being some days trying different things with tt7 and igo to fix the lag without success I ve done a tip of lag diamond forum. I ve setup tt7 gps like "other bluetooth gps" port 7 instead of "internal gps" and I can confirm the lag is gone. As you know in this way tt7 doesnt use Microsoft gps api but com4 directly. The strange thing is that Igo8 uses com4 too but there is lag. I prefer Igo over ttn7 but now I am happy using tt7 without any lag.
Hope it helps

I have TomTom 6 on my Touch Pro and it works stonkingly well, no real difference in performance from my old Navman. I had to turn off "assisted GPS" in Schaps advanced config though cos it kept losing the signal every 5 seconds or so with it enabled.

Can you tell me how you set the gps up in TT6, coz I can get a fix or even setup :(

will try that tonight daniel. It is pretty frustrating as it is seemingly not a radio issue as google maps loads pretty quickly for me.

whooppee.. I have managed to run TT6 using the internal GPS.

I was in my covertable, but getting 2 Sats..

The only problem, was that it kept going off route and getting lost.

Is there a way I can tighten thinks up to get better accuracy.????

I used my TT receiver this morning with the phone and had no probs.

Any help appreciated. :)

So anyone yet figured out how to run it with Raphael? I have been searching for it for a while and yet no results...

I talked on Friday with the TomTom Support and they told me that it's a known issue that the O2 Xda Diamond Pro which comes with TomTom 7.451 can not connect to TomTom Home 2.3.1.92. They said that this week there will be a new version of TomTom Home [2.4] which will solve the issue.

I do not know if this will help others which bought the HTC Touch Pro which does not come with TomTom 7.

AFAIK it's not allowed to transfer the TomTom application even if you purchase the maps from TomTom. I still can not understand that they do not sell the application seperately.

Does someone know why TomTom is more restrict with TomTom 7? According to the support TomTom Home does check what maps are allowed for the specific device. You can not install maps without TomTom Home calling home. To me it seems like a copy protection mechanism.

I have TT6 6.032 on my Touch Pro, all working well with internal GPS.

What do i need to do, to get version 7 on the device?

What are the added features of TT7 over TT6?

Thanks

Hi all,
I also own a TP and have been using TT7 for a while without any lag.
This is what i've done.
Start TT7 with internal GPS- it now looks that you can't get a fix or a fix with only two sat (it only shows some sat).
Keep TT7 running - go home the home screen - start Googlemap - go to menu and select "Use GPS".
After a short while you'll get about 5 or 6 sat or even more in googlemaps....
Return to TT7, keep Googlemaps open on the background. Within seconds you'll get a fix with 5 or more sat.
Now close googlemaps - go back to TT7......the fix is still there.
This procedure only has to be done once.
Now i'm using TT7 with a fix within 5-10sec with 5 or more sat and the lag is almost gone (about 5 metres)

I tried TT6 and I have the exact same issues.

My lag isn't "as bad" <ahem>. It's about 10 metres or so. :) Kind of annoying since my other devices (I've tried TT with about eight of them -- PPC and Palm) worked perfectly.

Therefore, it is my opinion that it is the hardware (radio?) that is the culprit here.

In The Netherlands you can buy TT7 pre-installed on the Pro for €123 ex VAT. The Dutch version of the TT site does mention the Touch Pro.

It is not possible to buy TT7.

Is it possible to buy the tt7 maps and install them on the Touch Pro?

It is possible to buy the maps for the touch pro from tomtoms map store. Tomtom home now recoginses the TP , so there is no problem with installing the maps. Be careful that you buy the correct maps and the maps have to be installed using tomtom home, so make sure you have version 2.4 installed and have checked that it works!

Tomtom are aware that Navigator 7 has leaked out and there is no gaurantee that they will offer you any support if you have an issue.

Where do I drop external POI's? I've got the SpeedCam POI's, but have no idea where to store them on the TP to actually get them working :rolleyes:

Put them into the same directory as the map.

i'll give that a try Does it matter that the Map is Whole Europe, and the POI's are per country?

It doesn't work :confused:

According to the file it is okay for TTN7, so I've cpied all the different countries in the folder of the Map, but I get nothing in the "NP" section to select, that even comes close to speedcams...

What am I doing wrong, or can somebody guide me to a step by step guide?
