First, I must say I love Klaxxon. However, one feature I would love is that it should have an alarm sound which it defaults to if you don't select a sound file.
Right now, it's a bit cumbersome to be forced to select a sound file if you just want to set a quick one time alarm. Ideally, you should just have to set the time and press ok in which case it should use a default sound.
Keep up the good work!

Is there anyway of changing the volume of the alarm in any of the later version?

.10?
where?
The only version i tried before 2.0.0.10 was 1.0.0.37
Both were downloaded directly from Koush's site. I don't bother using AppToDate as i see no point in continually upgrading software. If it works and is bug free, then why bother upgrading unless you need want the new features...

It was a test build that I put out to try to fix another user's problem. It also has slight performance improvements. Minor changes overall, so I didn't post about it.

Koush, nice improvement with the GUI. It really looks slick and professional. (I Dont feel like reading 50 pages of the thread just now.) So forgive me these suggestions have been covered.
1) If I add a new alarm, it makes more sense to me to have it active by default rather than having to take the extra step of activating it. This is along the same lines as the poster who suggested a default sound is set. Just makes setting a quick alarm easier.
2) I would like to be able to alter the default snooze and expire times. Your defaults do not suit me therefore there is yet another step to complete to set a new alarm. This and the 2 steps in item 1 are 3 steps that could be removed in setting alarms.
3)Time input is nice. Anyway you could make the minutes split so tens of minute could be incremented. 30 taps is a bit of a nuisance.
4)Also on Time input - (again only my opinion) - the snooze/expire/delay increments laterally whereas the regular time input vertically. Would be more intuitive if they were consistent.
I also had a few problems with the alarms triggering along with the Windows alarm, but I took a look at your website (http://www.koushikdutta.com/search/label/Klaxon) and established that the cause of this was probably of my own making. I see visiting the Windows alarm applet is a no no when integration is enabled.
Nice Job,

Just a little Bug I noticed today in combination with S2U2...
Device:
Diamond 1.93 ROM
Problem:
In the mornig, Klaxon woke me up and was "on screen".
I pressed the "snooze" button. Since the screen doesn't go off by itself, pressed the powerbutton to turn it off.
Klaxon woke me up again.
On the Screen: S2u2. No Klaxon-Screen. Turning the Phone for "snooze" works fine anyway.
Klaxon wakes me up again. Screen: S2u2.
I unlock the Phone. Screen: Klaxon.
Shaking the Phone to turn off the Alarm did NOT work.
I had to press the "Off" Button.
This is just a "minor" bug and is probably connected to the "not turning the screen off" Bug.
Thanks for this great Application. ;-)

I have used an API made by Koush to create a small program for my Diamond using G-sensor and my initial idea was to implement a tool for determining my current speed in a vehicle or so, as well as acceleration 0-100 km/h, etc (the calculus is pretty simple if you ask for that). However it appeared the accelerometer of Diamond is very inaccurate - first of all it shows the gravity as different value in the different axes - on the Z it is 7 (should be 9.8), also the value itself fluctuates constantly. With this in mind I think the accelerometer is probably with a different quality on the different devices. On mine for example sometimes even if I tilt the device very slightly, the alarm snoozes, which makes it quite annoying... The shake doesn't work at all. So, maybe some devices have different kind of sensor sensitivity and accuracy and that may be the reason for the alarm not to work or to exhibit strange behavior.

Seems I am lucky. My GSensor seems accurate and is constant between all three axis. I expect the small continuous fluctuation you see is a function of how these accelerometers work. Maybe yours needs to be calibrated?
CyberGene
25th September 2008, 02:51 PM
Well, I think we don't have access to a calibration if such exists :( Even the current API for getting values from G-sensor was not official but reverse engineered by some guy if I am not mistaken.

I believe there's a G-Sensor callibrator on this forum. Try searching; I've used it before and am pretty sure it works.

The same for me, Im not using S2u2 but a screen locker app I am developing myself. I can't describe it nor reproduce it but it just behaves strange, sometimes work, sometimes doesn't.
Seems to be that Klaxon somehow deals with the display, and so screen lockers do. I think both programs start a fight for the screen "top most" and hence the problem. I think (repeat - I suggest) Klaxon shouldn't deal with screen. Its my opinion, don't have details on how it actually works behind the scenes. Keep the good work and hope next version fixes the "lock screen bug"

I think by hitting the power button on the device, Windows Timers get all goofed up and no longer poll. I may need to change the polling from using timers to using a background thread.

Have you seen this?
"Programmatically Monitor for a Specific Time of Day Without Draining a Device Battery?"
http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/netframework/bb870451.aspx
This should be the best approach, it doesn't require polling so no battery drain. You can either register events for launching an application or calling back an event in your app (which is the best part)
Win32.CeRunAppAtTime(_timeOfDayEventName, targetTimeAsSystemTime);
Koush

Yes, that is what I use to schedule the alarm, which is why Klaxon does not have any memory or battery footprint, because it is only running when it is alarm time. :) But my problem will not work with a solution that simple. :)
Remember that once Klaxon is running, it needs to stay on and prevent the device from going to sleep so it can continue picking up sensor events. But the video power also needs to be off to not drain the battery or annoy the user.
It's funny you bring this up, because I actually JUST finished writing a blog post about how I am fixing this issue:

Koush you should fix that bug with the WM alarm keep showing up.
I have Klaxon empty from alarms the last three days and I've been forced to go and re-disable the WM alarm many times! Always at the same time (which was one of my Klaxon tests). I am not sure why it keeps coming back (and when). This last time I disabled WM alarm AND changed the time. We'll see what happens.
But this bug needs fixing (and please add a couple of the bold things in the wishlist...).

OK I’m a bit confused why would you continue to want to pick up sensor events. If the alarm has been disabled then the app closes.
If the device is snoozing, then why let sensor events change that (RE: One of your bugs that accidently reset the snooze timer if the device is picked up).

That's not really a bug, so much as something I need to make an option: I resnooze before the timer goes off by flipping it, but some people don't like that.
I am also going to put in a similar option to allow the shake action to take place when the device is snoozed. I like being able to shake my device to turn it off-- before the alarm goes off again.
Also, the light sensor needs to be read too... you should not have to worry about turning the alarm off in the morning after snoozing. Just turn on your light like you normally would, and forget about the alarm.
imranbashir_uk

I’m assuming that if any of the sensors are disabled you stop polling them to save power e.g. the light sensor.

As part of configuring Klaxon properly - should I go into the three Windows alarms and uncheck
play sound,
flash light,
vibrate,
for each of them?
Whenever my Klaxon set alarm goes off, the phone also vibrates and I cannot see a klaxon setting disable this. Or is it hard wired to vibrate in klaxon?

Version 2.0.0.11
Added options to disable each sensor action while snoozed. For example, if your Flip action snoozes your phone, and you don't want to let it resnooze while snoozing (by just picking up your phone in some cases), check this box!
Added the ability to select a Windows Media Player playlist. You can find playlists in your \Playlists or \Internal Storage\Playlists folders. You can use Windows Media Player on your desktop to create and sync playlists.
When you snooze your device, the screen is automatically turned off to save power.
The default sound file is now \Windows\Alarm5.wav. It is not configurable in the UI yet, but you can configure it manually setting the \HKCU\Software\Klaxon\DefaultSoundFile value in the registry. (It does not exist by default, but Klaxon will use it if it is there.)

Yesterday I downloaded and installed a 2.0.0.10 :D
But I've got another question, since I updated my ROM to MossisROM (the german guy), my alarms I've set with Klaxon aren't showed in my TF3D-TodayScreen.
I tried many the following:
Deinstall Klaxon, delete the program-dir and registry-keys manually and after that de-activate all "normal" windows-alarms and made a softreset.
Than I re-installed Klaxon, set the option "TodayScreen-integration", setup my alarms (didn't go into the normal windows-alarms) and again made a softreset.
But the alarms aren't still showed in my TodayScreen.
This effect also happend with the 2.0.0.9.

Windows MObile 6.1
CE OS 5.2.20721 (Build 20273.1.3.3)
ROM

OK with .11 I still have this (major to me!) bug:
- I create an alarm, say 5 minutes later.
- Exit Klaxon, see that is indeed reported in TF3D (because it sets the first WM alarm).
- Go back to Klaxon and DELETE this alarm.
- *** TF3D STILL REPORTS THE ALARM *** ...and if I go to WM alarms it is still set there!!!
...and gets even better...
- I create an alarm in Klaxon.
- Let it ring (I don't think this step makes any difference) and then stop it.
- I go to WM alarms and disable it.
- TF3D correctly shows no alarm (since klaxon uses WM alarm to integrate to TF3D).
- Go in Klaxon settings just to DELETE the alarm and delete it.
- Exit ONLY TO FIND THAT NOW THE TF3D (and WM) alarm IS ACTIVE AGAIN! Yes the one based on the DELETED Klaxon alarm!!!
I don't know about you people, but I think this classifies as serious bug. I thought it was fixed but not.
Please man. Please fix this.
(the other major thing to fix is to make OFF much smaller than SNOOZE)

many people requested changes with SNOOZE and OFF... off really needs to be much harder to press than snooze
maybe SNOOZE should be a huge box maybe 1/3 of the screen size at the bottom and OFF a little button somewhere far from SNOOZE, maybe tope right (offset is necessary to make "getting used" to the position harder)
btw, my device where I still have the WM alarm problem is a stock Touch Pro... I don't get what is so different with my device

@ Koush,
Hi, thanks for implementing the 'disable while snoozing' setting, however there is a problem with it. It only disables for one flip event. For example if i snooze by flipping then flip back over 3 minutes later to look at the screen, the timer does not reset - perfect up to this point, problem is that next time i pick the phone up and move it any thing other than gently the screen goes off and the timer resets.
My guess is that this is because of the automatic screen switch off on snooze causing some kind of conflict??? Is there any way of completely disabling the G sensor whilst snoozing??
Also is it possible to make the automatic screen switch off during snooze optional? I'd prefer the screen to stay on really.
All the best

I agree this would make an improvement to the alarm screen. I have tried that alarm by the way and for the record Klaxon is FAR FAR superior.

First of all let me say thanks for this app, it is amazing!!
i think i may have found a problem tho, as mentioned in a previous mail with homescreen integration. On my htc diamond (1.93 ROM) i had 2 alarms configured, one set up for 11:00 on saturday and another setup for 05:30 but no days. Even after uninstalling Klaxon and soft reboot then re-installing it would show the 05:30 alarm on the homescreen even when not configured for any days. When i went into the alarm from the homescreen it was set for every day! When i deleted the 05:30 alarm it would show the 11:00 alarm correctly. Not sure if this is just my HTC ot not.
Hope that makes sense!

k just installed this and it does not seem to function correctly on my cdma sprint version btw. the problems i noticed is it will not play anysound, either with the alarm or with the preview, and shaking the phone puts it in snooze rather than turning it off. i have tried changing the alarm sound to different sounds, and that did not help either.

Like I said, this is a beta build. :)
Regardless, if anything goes wrong with the skin, it should revert back to the default one-- it's built into the program (you won't see a directory for it).
If someone has completely broken Klaxon, and it does not revert to the default skin, please let me know.
Here's the link to the 2.0.0.11 CAB:

The Default skin is built in, the TestSkin is just a copy of the Default skin that people can use to start creating their own skins.

Hey,
I found a bug in Klaxcon Version 2.0.0.11
When "Intergrate with Home Screen" enabled and you try to delete task alert from the task list it's delete it only in the Klaxcon system and not in the Windows Mobie system (Home Screen), in another words the "Intergrate with Home Screen" work only in one way, only in the "+" (ADD) and not in the "-" (DELETE).
And by the way: In the Klaxcon version 2.0.0.12 you can't work (ADD task) without select a skin first.
Please fix this issue... :-)

Download the TestSkin: http://koushikdutta.blurryfox.com/TestSkin.zip

If you want to install the TestSkin, your directory structure should look like this image:
http://koushikdutta.blurryfox.com/KlaxonDirectoryStructure.jpg
Version 2.0.0.9
Implemented About Box
Implemented the Snooze countdown on the alarm form.
On the Alarm List form, days that are not scheduled to start the alarm are now a darker color than they were before.
Fixed bug where deleting all the alarms would not remove the alarm from the TouchFlo Home Screen.
Fixed the sound looping bug once and for all! Found a not so well documented "loop" API hidden off the WindowsMediaPlayer.settings.setMode method.
Fixed bug where seconds showed up on the alarms in the list form and the alarm itself.
Version 2.0.0.6
Implemented new skin for the actual Alarm form.
Implemented 24 hour mode (on the reskinned version only)
Possibly fixed bug where wav files were not looping.
Fixed bug where editing alarms that took place on the noon or midnight hours were bugged.
Vibrations are now 150 and 300 ms instead of 500ms.
Windows Alarms are now schedule with no sound, so all the user may see is a notification (if Home Screen integration is enabled)
Fixed bug where One Time alarms did not show up on the Home Screen.
Version 2.0.0.5
If you have a 480x640+ screen, you will see the new UI. It's pretty. Still have to skin the alarm form, but besides that, it is done.
Possibly fixed bug where Klaxon would stay resident in memory.
The number controls are now gesture based: you can flick them and they will scroll through their range quite rapidly!
You can now preview the alarm using the play button. (Only available in the new UI)
Using Klaxon is pretty straightforward; it's more or less like the standard Clocks and Alarms application.
You can download Klaxon (http://www.koushikdutta.com/search/label/Klaxon)from my website.

UPDATE:
I did a little experiment and this is what I found.
- Checked sensor calibration all OK
- Reset phone
1) If I have 'Off' set on shake there is not effect by shaking, regardless of 'If snooze on' setting.
2) If I have 'Snooze ON' / Turn off if snoozed set ON - Shaking has NO EFFECT, alarm continues
3) If I have 'Snooze ON / Turn off if snoozed set OFF - Shaking turns the alarm OFF, not snoozes it as set
Hi. I'm using the latest beta build and while I'm not experiencing any isues with the home screen integration like others, I'm not able to shake to turn off. Flipping snoozes fine but no amount of shaking turns the alarm off - only the button. This is usable granted but in a situation where you answer a text message or something after a snooze, Klaxon is off screen so the only way to turn off the alarm is fire up klaxon again and then use the button.
Is there a setting in the reg I need to tweak?

1) Please add some positioning XML in the skin engine in a future version. I resized OFF (what else?) and I don't like the default position.
2) Seems home-screen integration was not a mess only for me after all. ;) Home screen integration (a working one) is really a major plus for the program.

Klaxon does have one-time-alarms: If you create an alarm with no days checked, it will go off once, at the specified timed, and then disable itself.

ooo... cool :P
Edit: tried home integration again... added alarm, two min later, clicked X, alarm shows under the clock fine... go back in Klaxon (btw, on clicking the clock with SSMaPa), erase the alarm, X... YEAH!!! Nothing shows in alarms!
Seems to be fine... now more tests (like adding two alarms and deleting the first, or adding two, waiting for one to ring and see if home shows the next)
Edit 2: first case works fine
Edit 3: second case works fine too!
...now to test one time alarms...
Edit 4: tested one time alarms... indeed disables alarm after it expires BUT (is this known?) alarm still shows in home (it is 21:33 and shows that next alarm is 21:31... while I don't think it was the case with non-one-time alarms... I think those correctly are "removed" from today after expiration) bug?

OK here is the "master wishlist":
(if someone wants to add something so that we keep things organized for Koush, welcome)
- Tap and hold an existing alarm should edit it. (a few requested this)
- Deleting alarm shouldn't use a system pop-up. It is the only part that is not "skinned". So just pop-up your own window. (me)
- There should be some way to see which alarm sound is already selected, not by playing it but by name. (only I have requested this)
- "Snooze" and "off" (sensor) settings could be separate per alarm (but following a default). (again NLS)
- PLEASE include some timer and countdown modes (a la SPB Time). (me again)
- Does it override system audio settings? It should definitely do that! (me and is very important!)
- When you click snooze it should kill the klaxon screen until it rings again (why keep it on?). Many have requested this. Some requested that also the screen switches off, device stand-by (why not? but only if it was already off before the alarm - I think "Answer Keys Disabler" guy knows how to do that, so ask him). BTW one guy asked for the opposite, so maybe just make it an option?
- "Off" should definitely be much smaller than snooze, for the simple reason that you want off to be more difficult to press than snooze! (you need to be wake to click it!) Many people asked for that, so you should probably include it in your DEFAULT skin, at least until your skin engine also supports button positioning.
- Planning to include incrementing volume? Some requested this (me included).
- The alarm should also have a setting to make vibration while ringing! (Me and few others)
- Hope someone finds a way to "steal" the main TF3D tap and start Klaxon instead of WM alarm applet (ask SSMaPa guy how he does this?). I used SSMaPa anyway.
- Skin engine should support button/text positioning (an XML file?). I know it is still "young" but hope for some future version. Until then please make OFF smaller and further away from SNOOZE (about half the forum asked for this :p:D)
- Someone requested that minutes and tenths should be split for faster editing. I tend to agree.
- Same guy mentioned that snooze/expire time buttons should also be vertical for consistency. I tend to disagree with this (looks nice right now), but had to mention it to complete this list.
- Option to disable log file!!! (at least two people request)
- Someone asked for auto-snoozing. I would call it just "repeat if not off". THIS IS VITAL for ANY real alarm program. Indeed if you don't "off" it by hand, it should keep repeating! So probably an extra setting: snooze time, expire time, repeats if not off.
...now it would be nice if Koush replied to this post for each of the points to say what is interesting and will be added in his "to do", what is definitely not going to happen any time soon, where he disagrees etc.
In any case keep up the good work.

@ Koush
I wonder if you've managed to have a look at the bug where the disable G-sensor while snoozing option only worked for 1 G event??
I know you're busy working on the skinable version, but fixing this bug would make the application absolutly perfect for me, i don't suffer from any home screen intergration problems or crashes and i know this may sound selfish but i'd like to get it perfect before (for me) before the development branches off to far. I'm a little worried that this bug may have gotten lost from your memory now that you have your teeth stuck into the skinnable beta version as it doesn't seem to be on your to-do list. Please understand i don't mean this to sound pushy but just hoping this could be done, then Klaxon IMO will be perfect.
One more thing, the user NLS made this suggestion-
- When you click snooze it should kill the klaxon screen until it rings again (why keep it on?).
I strongly disagree with this idea, although i can see why he would want it. I need/like to see how much snooze time is left. If you are going to implement his suggestion please please make it optional. (on a similar note, is it possible to have the setting that ''When you snooze your device, the screen is automatically turned off to save power.'' made optional as well, i'd prefer to keep the screen on.)
Thanks
All the best

I don't know if this is intentional, but it seems that AppToDate is not recognizing the update. Is this an issue with Klaxon or with AppToDate? I currently have version 2.0.0.12 installed, on a Touch Pro with the shipped ROM...
Correct, none of the beta builds are on AppToDate; I don't want to release this version till all the kinks are worn out.

Hi, I'd like to figure out what is wrong with the app on your Touch Pro. I know other Touch Pro users have used it successfully.
I've looked at your log and verified something is actually going wrong, but I can't tell what.
Can you do the following for me:
Delete the klaxon log file
Start Klaxon and try to schedule an alarm for 2 minutes later
Exit Klaxon
Wait for 3 minutes to pass (the alarm shouldn't go off as you say)
Send me the log
That will give me a good snapshot and I'll be able to figure out the problem for you.
Thanks!

One more thing, the user NLS made this suggestion-
I strongly disagree with this idea, although i can see why he would want it.
Steve
I would like to have it of when snoozing. This morning I tried to manually shut the screen (top button), but then it woke up after snooze time was out but no alarm sounded. I think that's probally a bug. A fix for that in the next vers would be appreciated. And the option suggested above.
Great app, keep up the good work!

Making the phone vibrate confuses Klaxon- if the phone is physically vibrating, it thinks it is being shaken or flipped.
Basically, if vibration is on, you can't use the g-sensor.

That's normal. If you don't turn the light off, if you don't turn the light off, it will keep resnoozing (and vibrating to let you know it snoozed). You should use "disable while snoozed" option.

There is one very strange, though, not yet mentioned. The thing is:

Yeah, I'm well aware of this; you gotta realize it is a hack on top of a hack in the first place. HTC did their Home screen implementation in a really dumb way. Instead of looking at the NextAlarmTime property in the System\State registry, they are looking at the Windows alarms themselves. So the only way to make it work is to schedule a Windows alarm...
I've already given up on making the Windows alarm never go off-- that probably doesn't work because they automatically reschedule themselves at some point. So I have an alternate solution, when Klaxon starts up, it will look for any Windows Alarm notifications and forcibly dismiss them. So if the Windows alarm does go off, it will only be for a moment...
So no, it won't stay like that. But always remember-- you can disable it in the meantime if it is troublesome. That's why the option is there in the first place.
I will have time this weekend to work on Klaxon a bit more. I want to complete QVGA support and implement the fix I mentioned.
I also will be extending the Sensor SDK to hopefully support the Samsung Omnia, or really any Kionix accelerometer enabled device. So I'll have my hands full for the next few days.

- Home screen implementation isn't working (windows alrms are correctly set and unset, but never show in TF3D)
- Can't select mp3s from storage card (suspect it's due to the number of them) - Klaxon tries to access the directory for a while and then exits without warning and without error message. Txt file attached:

Hi I've solved the problem with the windows default alarm activating itself when you click on the homescreen clock!!
I want to suggest my solution to the developer so he can implement it on future versions of klaxon. I used a tool called SSMaPa wich can be found here on xda, that tool lets you remap the homescreen-clock clicking-action to another app (klaxon itself for example) instead of showing the windows default alarm dialog, thus problem solved...
So maybe the developer could include in the klaxon installation cab a feature that will remap the clock-clicking action to launch klaxon instead of the default windows alarm dialog.

I would like to ask:
Is it possible to have a one shot alarm?
Often when I have something to attend to (that is not in the calendar) I set an extra alarm, but after going off I have to disable it until the next time I want to use it.
So it would be nice in the alarm setup screen to have a red (I say) checkbox next to the days checkboxes that would say today and if checked at the same time deselects all days checkboxes and disables itself after going off (after the delay that is).
What to you think?
Could it be implemented in the next version?

Also, shaking the alarm in the direction perpendicular to the screen may make the phone think it is being flipped.

You can do a one-time alarm by scheduling an alarm with no days selected. Once the alarm fires, it will disable itself.

Sorry man but what are you talking about?
SSMaPa has already been mentioned in this thread and more than once (and trust me the developer knows about it).
This is not the problem that needs solution, the problem is how WM alarms are confused when using home-screen integration. Sometimes you hear both WM and Klaxon alarm, sometimes you delete an alarm and it stays active in WM etc.
BTW, to be more precise "you" didn't solve anything. SSMaPa dev solved it (if it was ever a problem).

change first post as follows:
move change-log/version-history to some other place... instead add 'list of features / what the tool does or can do', 'list of known bugs', 'upcoming features you are already working on', 'list of feature requests you are thinking of implementing' - and even 'list of feature-requests you are not considering of implementing'
now - all this might sound a bit overkill - but for one like me really following this thread reading the same questions and requests over and over and over again is quite annoying :/
and as I can somehow understand someone new not reading 60+ pages for god's sake people at least try the prog! Or try 'search this thread' ...
even though this is not contributing to Klaxon it self at all - please consider my 'first post idea' (I am assuming reading and answering the same stuff over and over is also pretty time-consuming for you)

I am not saying it's Klaxon's fault, but have you checked? Maybe .Net CF?

Version 2.0.0.19
When integrating with Home Screen, Klaxon now cancels all Windows alarms upon firing an alarm.
Turning off the screen when snoozing is now an option in settings.
Klaxon will now ask for confirmation if you try to create or edit an alarm that is set as disabled. Some users were accidentally disabling the alarm and pressing OK, and the alarm would obviously not go off.

Also, didn't see it posted anywhere, but the bottom of the app is cut off in some screens on the HTC Athena in landscape mode, like the options menu that lets you choose your skin, and when the alarm is going off the off button is barely visible.

Wouldn't it be more convenient to activate or deactivate specific alram by pressing on it in main window without entering to edit window?

I think this alarm is quite good, but there is a little problem....
If I set more than 4 alarms, let say 9 alarm, 4 and a half of alarms were hidden, and my only option to edit those 4 alarm is to press the down button and try.
Anybody have the same problem of mine?

Hi Koush, great app! I'm just having problems with the snoozing function on my Omnia (using 2.0.0.19)... klaxon.exe crashes after snoozing in any way (by flipping the phone to snooze the alarm... or not using gestures and simply clicking on the snooze button)... I've tried disabling the new blank screen option as well as not integrating with home screen (not even sure that that even has any effect as this is not an HTC phone)... but the app always crashes... the CF crash message indicates the error occurs on the SamsungGsensor or something like that... any ideas?

Just a quick couple of request reminders:
If one flips the phone in the middle of a snooze, then the snooze count restarts... (maybe just as there is an option for "disable while snooze" for gestures you can apply the same code to the flip gesture once the snooze period starts and disable it when it ends).
And second, an auto-snooze function would be nice (say after a minute of the alarm sounding off and not being either snoozed or turned off)...
Thanks a lot and keep up the great work!

The cab-file didn't work for me. I think the phone would've waken me up one hour too late, BUT! I got an SMS from a friend at 8.28 (should've rang at 8.00) and just after I heard the SMS-tone, the alarm started. So to me it sounds like some kind of wake-up-from-standby problem. But I'm not a programmer, great program anyhow!

Yeah I know... I was simply stating the fact that the snooze timer restarts itself if flipped in the middle of the snooze time... I'm not sure if that's a bug or an intentional behavior?

I mentioned this to Koush way back that if you flip 'mid snooze' the timer resets. He and quickly sorted the issue out. If you check the disable while snoozed box in the flip settings, then this will no longer happen.
Just make sure you have the latest version and you should have no probs. If it still resets then it must be something about your handset. Klaxon works perfectly in this respect.

Thanks.. I hadn't realized the fact that the flip function didn't have the "disable while snoozed" option ticked.... my bad.
There's another symptom I've noticed and would like to confirm if its just me or not: while on snooze, if I try to use my phone, the Klaxon window stays on top in full screen (modal-like) and I must click on the red OFF button for it to go away.... yet still the snooze feature does remain working... Is it like this for others as well?

like another user mentioned before, i've recently had the problem where the alarm sounds an hour too late.. i've had to set up an alarm for an hour earlier than i would like to make it go off at the right time.. any ideas why this would be? maybe some complication with daylight savings?
also, the flip to snooze function is way too sensitive.. if i pick up the phone off a high shelf, and gently put it down on my bed (without flipping anything), it counts it as a flip and makes it snooze...
using 2.0.0.20. thanks for a great app.

yes to 24 hour mode (as set in the phone settings, i can't see any klaxon option around 24/12 hour modes), and my timezone is AEST - sydney. +10 hours.
its fixed now, i changed the timezone to something else, applied it (and let it update all my calendar times), and then changed it back to sydney, and let it update all my calendar times again, and it seems to work now.
however it still highlights an issue i think with klaxon - my phone would say 8am, but klaxon would think it was 7am and fire the alarm an hour late until i did this. where does klaxon get its time from?
hmm.. does it work off the calendar? the klaxon alarm i'm pretty sure i setup before DST was applied.. i think. can klaxon work off the clock instead of the calendar to fix this maybe?

Klaxon doesn't use the calendar for scheduling, it uses the CeSetUserNotificationEx API, and just passes the time it wants to be notified.
That issue you describe (along with how you fixed it) sounds like the Microsoft DST bug; it's a known bug. It might affect the scheduler API that Klaxon uses. Thanks for telling me how you fixed it, I'll see if I can apply workaround programatically so it doesn't happen again.

Great tool but i doscovered following issues:
1. It seems, that the loading time for an alarm is very long: On my Diamond the backlight goes on 1minute before the alarm, then when the minute changes to the right value it takes appx. 20 sec. until the alarm is ringing.
2. Today morning my Diamon was on the charger(docking station-just power) and i noticed only a vibration twice. I did not touch the phone and nothing happend after all. No alarm, snooze screen was active. What can be the reason?

Hi,
I have this issue and it totally irritates me. Instead of just stopping or working with Klaxxon, the alarm actually comes in as a "reminder" as well.
So, let's say I have an alarm at 6am. It goes off, I hit snooze. Then, 2 mins later, the reminder goes off with that small bubble at the bottom. I have to hit dismiss. And then, I don't know if it's just my phone, but dismiss doesn't really dismiss. It comes back again.. (this is another issue altogether, happens to me on my calendar reminders as well)

if I use this option I have the following problem (su2u is running on my diamond!):
first alarm works perfect, Klaxon gains focus over su2u, buttons are displayed and I snooze
second alarm after snoozing does not gain focus, so alarm sounds only for the timeout of su2u-screen and phone is dark again
when turning the phone on (this morning actually one hour later) the alarm resumes immediately still su2u-screen, I slide-to-unlock and get Klaxon
Have only done one test just now to reproduce (I'm pretty tired) - also one test without 'snooze turns off screen' which works as always. So it's not really a problem for me.
Today's log attached.

A few days ago the summer clock (DST) was ended, meaning we switched the clock 1 hour back. Since than if I set Klaxon to alarm in 08:00, it will alarm in 07:00, and so on.
Finally request: I decide to give up using TF3D, using regular today home screen & plugins. Using that way, I have no way to know when the next alarm will fire.
Can you add a small today plugin that will display the next alarm schedule?

Thanks for this great app. I only have one problem. After the first alarm time it happens that the phones start vibrating after the snooze period and not giving the alarm sound. I also use Sensorlock, but without the vibration option. Do you have any idea what causes this? There are also spontanuous vibrations after the first alarm. Sometimes once, somtimes two times in the row.

I have read as much of the thread as i can but i cant seem to find the answer im looking for, or maybe it is that no-one has asked!!
is it possible to replicate an alarm?
i usually go to bed around 2-3 am, and i set 3 different alarms to wake me, but every time i create a new alarm the time displays the current time.
would it be possible to create an alarm based on an existing alarm, and when creating a new alarm could the time displayed be the time of the last alarm set and not the current time?

Nice app, although still very confusing to use first time as the buttons on the bottom have no clear indication as to what they are used for until you hit them and fiddle around for a while.

but very good work on the skinnable side and +rep for improvments to last version!

It's a Windows Mobile Daylight Savings bug. I'm not sure how to work around with it. I personally don't have the bug myself. Try the following:
Install the cab attached to this post.
The cab will restart your phone.
Change your time zone to something else, then change it back.
This has worked for other users.
After you've done that, schedule an alarm for 2 minutes in the future, and just make sure it goes off. I'm working on a way to work around this so users don't need to worry about it.

I use the alarm daily and I think that the last versions are quite good.
I have 2 requests that could make my life easier:
First it would make a big difference to me if the power for canceling with the G sensor would be parametric. I think now is 20G. I use the G sensor for snoozing and I would love to adjust it at 1G so that I dont have to use extreme power to snooze:rolleyes:.
Second It would be very convinient to me if the snooze button was a bit larger than the close button and not right next to it. The reason is that a couple of times I closed the alarm instead of snoozing it:p.
Thanks in advance...

just an idea though... would pretty much link it to the HTC Diamond - but that would be ok right ;)

- a diamond (the stone)
- on top some bells like on a classic alarm-clock or one like an old fire-alarm

sure there is, while editing your alarm click the lower left button, that brings up a file explorer, navigate to the windows folder, and you will find the sound files after scrolling down the list.
thanks for that - but what I want is to set a sound file as a default alarm so I don't have to go through that process everytime to use the alarm tone I prefer to use .... any help appreciated

i don't know if it was suggested before and i do not want to read all 71 pages :)
it would be nice if it is possible activate and deactivate the alarms in the alarm list without entering the alarm setup. tab and hold or checkboxes.

A couple of bugs with 2.0.0.20:
1) If you set the light action to "nothing", it still snoozes the alarm
2) If you set the light sensor action to snooze, and you turn on the light when the screen is on, but the alarm hasn't yet gone off (warning grace period), then the alarm sort of snoozes and then snooze time becomes negative, example -1 minutes, -2 minutes, and so on. The alarm never goes off after that.
Regards,
EDIT: File attached. Problem happened october 13 and 14, as far as i can remember.

First it would make a big difference to me if the power for canceling with the G sensor would be parametric. I think now is 20G. I use the G sensor for snoozing and I would love to adjust it at 1G so that I dont have to use extreme power to snooze:rolleyes:
complete opposite for me - its really sensitive, i'd want the G sensor to be less sensitive :)

Different people, different needs;). That’s why my suggestion was for a parametric adjustment of the g sensor, say 1G-50G. If it is possible...

That's the standard Windows Alarm, turn that off in Clocks and Alarms. I'll take a look at that bug.
Thanks. Will test it.

Cool - this version fixes my previous issues - home screen integration now works fine, and I can select mp3s from my SD card (although it is painfully slow).
Have to agree about the icon though - it needs a transparent background rather than a white square...

Great application, works very well.
I suffer the same "problem" as eteching describes. I installed the .cab on the storage card, could that be the loading problem?
Great tool but i doscovered following issues:
1. It seems, that the loading time for an alarm is very long: On my Diamond the backlight goes on 1minute before the alarm, then when the minute changes to the right value it takes appx. 20 sec. until the alarm is ringing.

Yeah, I know about that. Some users wanted the ability to be awoken by a backlight (so that their significant other doesn't get woken up too). I'll make that configurable and also make the alarm show up too.

OK, sorry didn't know that it is done by purpose. If it is't a bug, than it is fine. :)
thanks for the reply

Ok, added the bug report file to post 739.
BTW: The new icon for build 21 looks awful under the TF3D "programs" tab. The previous one was better because it had a transparent bg.
In any case, thanks for all the hard work, i use this every day and will soon donate :)

Koush:
Congratulation... Each time better!!!
A thing: Would be greate to see the current time when you are putting the alarm.
For example, each day i must to put the alarm to diferent hours, because my work... so, i put the alarm for to sleep 6 hours, but i need to know the current time for to calculate the wake up hour... Then i must to see in other clock the time, and after that put the alarm in my PDA.
Am i clear??? :-D

Hello,
First, I would like to congratulate you for your work, I keep your project since 2 months and is really good, THANKS.
Second, I have a suggestion ... Would be nice to be able to choose an entire folder as the sound of the alarm. So each day we wake up with a random song, is it possible?
thanks

You can sort of do that now: You can set up a playlist with Windows Media Player and sync it to your Diamond. Then choose the playlist file.
