Suggestion:
Will it be possible to keep the screen locked always?
Sometimes when I flip the phone to snooze I accidentally touch the OFF button on the touchscreen, and the alarm goes off.
If would be nice to be able to interact with klaxon just by flipping, shaking and with the lightsensor and keep the screen locked every time so we dont make accidental touch.
Or maybe just make the OFF button on the touchscreen optional.

At first I want to say thank you for your wonderful klaxon.
I have a question to ask. When I click the button to turn it off, it vibrates. Can I disable the vibration?? Or how to modify the registry to disable it? thanks so much~

Version 2.0.0.23
Removed the upper right default "ok" button from the OpenFileDialog. This prevents users from hitting Ok and closing the dialog when no file has been selected.
Reverted previous change to "dismiss" Windows alarms. This was causing issues on mine and other devices in that the Klaxon Alarm would never show up. In its place, Klaxon now prevents Windows Alarms from flashing, playing sound, or vibrating. The notification will still show up, but at least not it is completely benign.
You can no longer hit the Off or Snooze buttons while the phone's screen is powered off.
Klaxon will no longer start the OpenFileDialog in the Windows directory to prevent the device from hanging while all the files are listed.
Fixed Daylight Savings Bug!
I'm also looking for someone to design a skin or two for Klaxon, as well as a new icon! Please contact me if you are interested!

Fixed Daylight Savings Bug!
its showed up for me again.. it seems if i create the alarm the night before its fine, but then i edited it for the next day to be an hour later, and the bug reappeared (klaxon thought the time was an hour earlier than the phone knew it was, and so went off an hour late). :(
my calendar items are out on the phone too.. this is so annoying (but not your fault)

How do you re-install an updated version??
I previously was running 2.0.0.19 and want to update to 2.0.0.21. So I run the CAB and it says installation unsuccessful. Oh, maybe I have to remove previous version, with a soft reset. Then I try to install new version... still unsuccessful!!!
What is the trick to this???

Fantastic program. Use it every morning. :-)
But I have 2 suggestions.
1:
When I am really tired in the morning because I've been surfing all night, then the alarm is too easy to turn off. It happens a little too often that I hit the "shut off" buttom, and don't realize it. Could you make it harder to shut off by accident? Ex. by making the user do some math ;-) or making his finger go through a labyrinth (I know the idea is used)? All though a simple "confirm" box also would do the trick. :-)
2:
Every morning I snooze for half an hour, or so. In the evening I know that, and set my alarm half an hour before the time I would need to get up.
I would however love a snooze "nightmare" option. Eg. the first snooze would be 10 minutes, and the second one would be 7, thereafter 5, 3, 2, 1 and with a little luck I would simply get up, by my self, because It would be annoying :-) (Hence the alarm clock ;-)) And what about if the sound is louder each time the alarm goes?
What ever you do, I will still love this software, but I do think that atleast the first thing bother more people than me?
Greetings, and goodnight. ;-)

1. I've been yelling for that one but our friend doesn't want to change this it seems. (no offence Koush - love your work - but you haven't even replied to that request, not only by me, even with a "no") Try what I have done. Load the "OFF" graphic in some paint program, scale it down enough to make it hard for you, and put it back. Job done. Of course it would be much better if the skin engine allowed also for custom positioning... (hello? XML?)
2. Nice idea. Then again (and I hope I am contradicted by the author), it was said that this application is considered as "ready that just needs some clean up", which I totally disagree and believe that if Koush wanted, it has long way to go. In fact I keep a wishlist (from users) and still is quite long. I am not sure Koush is that interested in this application so much any more (again, hopping to be contradicted).
We like this program, hope it evolves.

I would just like to say thank you to kouch for making this great application and for the large amount of time he has given to the project maintaining and improving it. You can hardly blame him for wanting to spend his own free time working on other newer projects.
People should not be so quick to complain when it doesnt work the way it was intended, or if he has not responded as quickly as you would have liked. Its attitudes like that, that turn cool projects like this into something of a chore.
I use it every day now and is a definite must have application for me. Thanks again

I have answered Koush's call and put together my first attempt at a skin for Klaxon. I have been using it as a way to teach myself the ways of paint shop pro :-)
I have also also cleaned up the klaxon icon so that it looks nicer on the start menu. When someone takes over this project I hope they concider putting this cleaned up version as the new/old icon for the next version.
I had intended the skin to have a white background but that is not possible in the current version. If that changes I might have another go at it. The skin is called Aesthetica2Skin because its named after the set of icons i used off of www.iconarchive.com using that name.

This is a wonderful & useful app.
I miss at the moment 2 features:
1. Assuming I'm not using the Touch 3D. I still wish to able to know when the next alarm will be fire up. A simple today addon required.
2. When I am changing the alarm time, I wish to press & hold so the hours/minutes will be changing with no need to repeat pressing.
Thanks anyway.

Good move Koush. :)
It was clear that you couldn't put the time needed for Klaxon lately and your move was to the best (both for the community and Klaxon itself).
Hope someone (with more time) pushes this forward.
Edit I will soon recompile my huge user wishlist for whoever cares to update the program...

OK here is the "master wishlist":
(if someone wants to add something so that we keep things organized welcome)
- Tap and hold an existing alarm should edit it. (a few requested this)
- Deleting alarm shouldn't use a system pop-up. It is the only part that is not "skinned". So just pop-up your own window. (me)
- There should be some way to see which alarm sound is already selected, not by playing it but by name. (only I have requested this)
- "Snooze" and "off" (sensor) settings could be separate per alarm (but following a default). (again NLS)
- PLEASE include some timer and countdown modes (a la SPB Time). (me again)
- Does it override system audio settings? It should definitely do that! (me and is very important! I think latest versions do try to do that)
- When you click snooze it should kill the klaxon screen until it rings again (why keep it on?). Many have requested this. Some requested that also the screen switches off, device stand-by (why not? but only if it was already off before the alarm - I think "Answer Keys Disabler" guy knows how to do that, so ask him). BTW one guy asked for the opposite, so maybe just make it an option?
- "Off" should definitely be much smaller than snooze, for the simple reason that you want off to be more difficult to press than snooze! (you need to be wake to click it!) Many people asked for that, so you should probably include it in your DEFAULT skin, at least until your skin engine also supports button positioning.
- Planning to include incrementing volume? Some requested this (me included).
- The alarm should also have a setting to make vibration while ringing! (Me and few others)
- Hope someone finds a way to "steal" the main TF3D tap and start Klaxon instead of WM alarm applet (ask SSMaPa guy how he does this?). I used SSMaPa anyway.
- Skin engine should support button/text positioning (an XML file?). I know it is still "young" but hope for some future version. Until then please make OFF smaller and further away from SNOOZE (about half the forum asked for this :p:D)
- Someone requested that minutes and tenths should be split for faster editing. I tend to agree.
- Same guy mentioned that snooze/expire time buttons should also be vertical for consistency. I tend to disagree with this (looks nice right now), but had to mention it to complete this list.
- Option to disable log file!!! (at least two people request)
- Someone asked for auto-snoozing. I would call it just "repeat if not off". THIS IS VITAL for ANY real alarm program. Indeed if you don't "off" it by hand, it should keep repeating! So probably an extra setting: snooze time, expire time, repeats if not off.
- Ability to add/substract by tap holding, not repeat pressing (does the OS easily allow for this? Or needs some hack around "tap-hold" routing?)
- Some love for non TF3D users (today plugin)
- Really really really find some clean way to integrate with TF3D without messing WM alarms
...guys keep it clean and add what you want (or remove if something indeed works already)

- I miss the snooze countdown that was on previous versions. for me this would mean leaving the screen on but dimmed
- someone else mentioned turning the alarm off by solving a puzzle or following a pattern with your finger
- I like the idea of having an analoge clock to set the alarm time like you do on the windows alarms. I find them more intuitive and easier to set than flicking numbers on a digital clock

Seems my Klaxon got confused today with daylight savings.
For weekends I have 9:55 alarm (no I don't wake then, it is just a backup).
While using the device this morning (was before 9:55 WINTER time - my device was automatically in winter time since 3 in the morning), I noticed that I had strange periodic lags... (PLUS a low battery issue see here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=2824408#post2824408 ...which is most possibly related).
Before soft reset I thought of checking a CPU load program. Surely enough Klaxon every few seconds (about 10), ate all or almost all my CPU's cycles!
After soft reset everything went to normal.
BTW, Klaxon never rang.
I dunno if Koush should look at this (since he knows his code), or if this a good opportunity for someone to jump in the code and clean it up...
Without offending Koush (which from his various attempts looks like a capable programmer), Klaxon has too many issues messing with the rest of the device and it is "just an alarm program" after all, so it shouldn't.
Unless someone really "jumps on board" soon, I think I'll return to my (paid after all) commercial solution (no sensor events but everything else and way much more).

Hi,
I don't know if it's just me, or just my phone, or what exactly. I've mentioned this before as well, and the new versions still have that.
I don't know if it can be classified as a bug because this happens everytime and so many versions later, still happens. After setting an alarm, for say, 6.30AM. A 'reminder' goes off at 6.32AM. This happens to every alarm about 2 minutes after. So, at 6.30AM, I put it on snooze and start going back into my sleep when 2 mins later, the reminder goes off! This reminder is ala calendar reminding.
This happens for every alarm mind you, so it's not just 6.30 that's a bad time, heh.
Also, a feature request, a few of my older phones had 'QuickAlarms', these are basically pre-set alarms like "Ring in 10 minutes", " "Ring in 15 minutes", "Ring in 30 minutes", etc. These were really helpful for power naps, reminders, etc. One phone even had a customizable QuickAlarm, where you tell how many minutes (or hours) you want the alarm to go off in.
Next thing, I know this is a very human friendly app, but some type of documentation for what the buttons/settings do would be very helpful for newbs. I've installed Klaxxon for a couple friends of mine and they like it - however, I set it up for them. So everytime they need to change anything they're not able to understand what the settings could be except for the "Integrate with the HomeScreen" part, heh.

That's a byproduct of the auto removal of the Windows Alarm Notification. That's why I removed it from a previous version, because it caused issues for me.
I would highly recommend not using Home Screen Integration and disabling Alarm Removal. If you don't want it to mess with the rest of the system, then don't let it...
This daylight savings bug is a long standing Windows Mobile bug, and I think I figured out a way to address it. I'll be releasing that in a fix soon.
I highly doubt Klaxon is the cause of any low battery issue. It is not running unless the alarm is about to go off. It is a scheduled process, not an always on service.

Thanks, I'll wait for the fix.
As for not using the integration, well... it is a bout 60% of why I am using Klaxon (other solutions don't do it and don't care too much for the gsensor part of Klaxon, "only" the rest 40%). If I remove integration, I kill the strongest reason I use this software. If I didn't have TF3D and had a normal today, I might not even consider Klaxon.
I don't want to discredit your effort, it's just a matter of personal preference.

TO DO:
* Support for multiple languages.
* Looking for more ideas to help improve this application!
1. can you make the music ( mp3-wakeup ) slowly fade-in ? maybe over a certain period of time ... ( a setting one could have in the options , fade in within X-seconds ... so the user can say e.g. 30 seconds ... and it will start silent , and after 30 seconds reach the full-volume )
i would appreciate this .. as i hate beeing caught out of my dreams , lol
2. maybe another idea ... including a playlist or defining a personal TOP10-wakeup-hit-list would be cool as well . so one could be waked up by a random-wake-up-song ... so it will not be everyday the same song.

btw. Klaxon is a really good idea - i love being waked up with music ...

Wonder:
The fix you offered for the timezone problem, seems to be the North American DST correction cab. In Israel - Microsoft published a unique local correction for the DST problem. Will Klaxon still be accurate, in the nxt summer...?

seems way too much bugs live in there... I'll have to put this on ice unless someone decides to really update and clean-up this POTENTIALY nice program

I experienced a bug this morning (Nov 3rd). I have had my alarms set for a couple weeks now, but last night was the first time my alarm went off since daylight savings time (I have no alarms set for the weekend, just for work on weekdays). On Saturday, the time went back at 3am to 2am. This morning, I had my alarm set for 5:45am, but it didn't go off until 6:45am, even though the phone had updated the system time like it should. It seems that Klaxon doesn't take DST into account. It went off at pre-DST 5:45am, which is now 6:45am, if that makes sense.
Is Klaxon not using the system time to sound it's alarm? Does it have it's own internal timer? Anyways, there's my bug report.

I hope I am wrong, but I see a slow death approaching the project.
Pity.
Meanwhile I plan to repatch my Manila and remove it from clock "button" as I mistakenly click it, which wouldn't be so serious if it loaded faster than almost 10" (!!!) and was actually... erm... working.
Too many issues unfortunately, for what was ultimately a "simple" process. Alarm.
Hope it goes better in the future.

And yes, it should only have afflicted some devices that had strange timing issues around Thread.Sleep.

does anyone have a problem with the combination S2U2 + Klaxon?
in many cases it looks like Klaxon tries to load up and do its job, but S2U2 doesn't let it. Sometimes it is only when I unlock the phone that Klaxon comes alive.
it's quite frequent that Klaxon does not ring at all or it rings 7-10 minutes later than scheduled!

Hi,
I am trying to use Klaxon on an HTC Universal PDA.
I have Tomal 8.2 ROM on it.
In Klaxon if I tap the + button, to add a new alarm, simply the program quits.
I have tried to set my Regional settings back to USA, i deactivated/uninstalled any other alarm program (include the standard Windows-alarm service).

Have an issue ... searched trough this thread but haven't found anything ...
I had Klaxon installed yesterday, tested it, worked like a charm, but then i uninstalled it today and reinstalled it (do NOT ask me why) ... both the fast and the slow way (uninstall-softboot-install-softboot) ... but now i don't get klaxon alarms anymore (only the original windows popup) unless the app is running in background ... well unless i have a mild case of alcohol induced amnesia due to a party yesterday, but as i recall klaxon didn't have to be minimized to be activated by an alert
erm ... help?!?!
EDIT: nevermind my silly question ... in my post-partyatic phase i disregarded the warning about NOT TOUCHING the time dialog ... and guess how i was testing if it works :D

great app!
I am lost though - what exactly does "expire" mean?
So I have snooze set to 10 minutes - if I snooze through various means that I have set, and expire is set to say... 30 minutes, does that mean I get 3 snoozes before the alarm "expires" for the day? It defaults at 10min snooze and a 5min expire and it will sound the alarm again after the first snooze so thats where my confusion is if my assumption about what it means is correct.
the ssmapa alteration works great - the only thing I haven't been able to get working very well is the rotate/flip to snooze/off but I've never calibrated the gsensor so I will try dloading that somewhere and trying it again (the shake to snooze/off works but I have to practically throttle the thing at this point).

I want my alarm to go off every weekday at 6:10am, 7:10am, 8:10am, & 9:10am plus my regular alarm and if I add another it appears my first set alarm is inaccessable. Is there a fix for this?

OK, I have an issue with this. I have the latest version, but since it "disables the windows alarm", i am now unable to use the windows alarm at all.
I uninstalled Klaxon, and tested, and basically the windows alarm is now useless. It shows up and I can try to set an alarm and all that, but then when the time comes, it does not sound an alarm. It shows the alarm on screen, but does not sound any alarm noise, and when I go to the "Sounds" Settings and try to set a tone for it, there is no "Alarm Tone" optin. it is coimpletely removed.
Essentially, Klaxon is now the only way I can have an alarm on my phone. That's all well and good, but I want to be able to use the windows alarm if I choose to, or uninstall the program if I choose to as well, without it taking my windows alarm options with it.
Can anyone help with this?

Two issues with touch HD:
1. When snoozing the screen turns off, which is fine. But it completely stops responding to everything exept tne powerputton hold för soft reset.
2. When snoozing by lightsensor, screen goes off and alarm is silent but it seems like the alarm is still there because the vibration continues with the same pace and rythm. And the non-responding screen is there as well.
The problems from previus poster does not occur on my HD.
Unfortunatly I cannot with sertain say that this occurs 100% of the times. I will do some more tests during the day to see if I can narrow it down a bit.
And a feature req as well:
Would be great with an alarm tone that gradually raised in volym starting with very very quiet. Would probably prevent some heart attacks out there :)
Thanks for a lovely application!

i can't speak for the developer, but i'm pretty sure this is beyond his scope. it's a functionality built into windows mobile if i'm not mistaken.

This is a great program. But I cannot believe the developer did not try to fix the basic problem which is setting up the alarm. To change time from 7.00 to 7.30 you need to tap the screen 30 times! There is no other way which is a shame for such a nice program. I know this has been pointed out before but for some reason it is being ignored. The minute digits should be divided into 2 independently adjustable figures so that we can quickly adjust time. No so much of a problem for the hour digits. This is a basic flaw which should be fixed for this to be user friendly. Hope the developer will look into it

Can't remember the name but it's a touch-flow-feature: just slide your finger from botto->top or the other way and the digits will start running. Stop by hitting the other way once - it takes some getting used to but it works ánd looks neat ;)

it's in the general settings (not per alarm) - last tab (star) - called 'Volume' (0-100)
this setting ignores/overrides current phone settings - no special 'sound alarm even when phone silent' setting exists

Anyone know what the issue may be or if I'm doing something wrong?
does it ring if you test the ringtone ('play'-button next to 'choose tone'-button)?
perhaps volume is set to '0' (advanced setting of specific alarm)
does it vibrate on alarm?

PHONE LOCK UP ON WAKE UP :-(
I've been testing out the .29 version this last and have experience a problem. If the phone is plugged in and Klaxon attempts to wake up the phone it locks the phone up and requires the use of the reset button. I have experience this twice now in a weeks use. Great looking design but not great when it locks up the phone and you cant get the call that tells you you're over sleeping.

Koush,
I know you’re no longer developing Klaxon, but here’s hoping you still read this thread. Would you consider a minor update to support Touch Lock Pro (TLP)?
ZuinigeRijder, the developer of TLP has mentioned a method of disabling his app upon coming out of standby that is currently used by G-Alarm. I am sure ZuinigeRijder would be more than happy to give you the code so that Klaxon can also disable TLP if required.
This would obviously be customisable through your settings as some people might not want this feature.
Finally upgraded my ROM from Elite 3.0 to Duttys V4 and at the same time upgraded from Klaxon 2.0.0.10 to 2.0.0.29, nice to see some minor issues I was having were fixed through the update.
Got my fingers crossed that you still read this thread and got time to implement the above...

Have you tried other solutions (this (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=465879) comes to mind) and didn't like them?
imranbashir_uk

NLS,
Not tried other solutions as Klaxon worked really well and used virtually no processing power hence minimal battery drain. How does G-Alarm compare?
Also Klaxon was / is a mature product with very few (if any) bugs, G-Alarm still seems to be in developments and as such new features that are being added are causing people problems.
Thanks for the tip though never new G-Alarm has got so far, I looked into a few new items when going through my update but to be fair not into a Klaxon alternative as it did everything I needed. The interface could have been a bit more slick and more global settings used but none of these were deal breakers.
I haven’t even been able to use TLP (Dutty’s V4 ROM) so I don’t know how it works with Klaxon. I was just thinking ahead as I’m sure the problem with TLP and Duttys ROM will be sorted sooner or latter.
Thanks for the heads up though will look into G-Alarm in a few months once it’s had its bugs ironed out.

I can't stress you enough to try it sooner than later.
Feel a bit sorry to say this in THIS thread but G-Alarm was way way way more stable for me than Klaxon ever was.
It's exactly the opposite experience than you describe. For me Klaxon never really matured (just the developer stopped having an interest in the application - and trust me there was a huge user wishlist), many of the features never really worked as they supposed (like TF3D integration - something so flowlesly working in G-Alarm, making you think "why wouldn't it?") etc.
G-Alarm has a way more active development, which doesn't prove a less mature program (as its features are maybe 2-3 times more than Klaxon's), but a very active developer and a very wide user base.
It is your device, but really, just spend 10 minutes to remove Klaxon and install G-Alarm (both are free, so it cannot be easier), try it for a day and let me know if you get back to Klaxon.
And no I am not affiliated to G-Alarm author in any way, NOR have anything against Klaxon's author (except maybe that he has semi-abandoned a few projects, but at least gives us the source... now why nobody has ever picked it up, can be "read" in many ways, don't ask my opinion).

NLS,
LOL, will give it a go when I got some time maybe over the weekend...
Sorry you had problems with Klaxon, I’m sure you would feel differently about it if you didn’t have any bugs or problems with it.
Also having more features doesn’t necessarily make an application better (Vista Vs XP) not saying that is the case here as I haven’t tried both so can’t cast a judgment. But what I can say is that Klaxon does do everything I need in an alarm clock.
More complex stuff is taken care of via outlook and the WM calendar.

20th January 2009, 09:58 AM
Yes, that is what I use to schedule the alarm, which is why Klaxon does not have any memory or battery footprint, because it is only running when it is alarm time. :) But my problem will not work with a solution that simple. :)
Remember that once Klaxon is running, it needs to stay on and prevent the device from going to sleep so it can continue picking up sensor events. But the video power also needs to be off to not drain the battery or annoy the user.
It's funny you bring this up, because I actually JUST finished writing a blog post about how I am fixing this issue:
http://www.koushikdutta.com/2008/09/windows-mobile-video-power-states.html
Then allow me to not understand anything
I've did 10 times (I like this number when I'm testing something :p ) this test cycle:
1. device (battery in fact) fully charged
2. Klaxon installed
3. device used as usual until fully discharged and device stops by itself
5. device fully charged
4. Klaxon uninstalled
6. device used as usual until fully discharged and device stops by itself
In all 10 tests I've received almost the same 2 results, that means that step 3 finalized after 1-1.5 days and step 6 after 3-3.5 days. WITHOUT EXCEPTION!
I repeat, I don't understand at all why Klaxon running means half power life (for me).
I think it's not necessary to say I'm not using it at this moment, although I like it very much, but I keep trying each version maybe sometime I'll have the same luck all the rest of you have with this nice piece of software.

hi, I have some problems with the (great) feature of the playlist.
I select my playlist and when the alarm should start the program hangs completely not playing any sound. Are there some restrictions to the amount of items or something that should stay on a playlist? I am using an autoplaylist generated with wmp11 with around 1000 songs in it.
the exact behaviour of the program is that it takes a lot (around one minute) to load the playlist (i think) and then the sound outputs nothing. It is quite weird because before syncing this new playlist i had another one with around 1300 items (always autoplaylist) and loaded up in no time and started shuffling songs perfectly with 0 lag.

NLS,
OK I finally managed to try G-Alarm and my verdict is that I am not that impressed.
Now before you respond here me out.
G-Alarm is much slower to open
G-Alarm consumes more memory
G-Alarm distorts the wav alarm file I use
G-Alarm is not as loud when the alarm goes off
G-Alarm wakes up in the middle of the night if the phone is on charge it stays on all night
Now don’t get me wrong, G-Alarm has it’s positives, but for me Klaxon does what it is supposed to do which is wake me up in the morning. I have experienced no bugs or problems with it.
The only issue I have is that it does not work with TLP, now if the developer of TLP decides to add the ability to unlock when certain apps are running my problem will be solved, if not, then I just use either flip the phone to switch off or pull out the stylus.
Thanks for recommending that I try G-Alarm, but for now I am going to hold off switching, if it gets lighter and faster then I might reconsider my options further down the line

I´ve found that klaxon on my wife´s HP 6815 with manila2d and exe patched, when a alarm is activated and displayed in manila, a massive battery drain occurs. With looped alarms the battery drains in a day (1800mAh New one)
With no alarm set, it lasts at least for 3 days.
This is very weird, because i´m using klaxon on my diamond and i have no problems what so ever.
With regreat i have to find another alarm app for my wife´s pda.
I would like to know if anyone have found this problem.

Hi I've been using Klaxon for months now and I love it! Never really had a problem with it until this week. I think daylight savings time change may have caused a bug. For whatever reason, my alarms that have been set the same way for months are not sounding. Yesterday and today i woke up late for work and Klaxon just hadnt gone off. I have noticed that alarms I have created or reset since the time change have worked properly so far. Anyone else having problems like this?

Klaxon is an awesome application. I like it very much and it works great.
I don't know if there are any further developments on this or not, but I have one suggestion and one problem.
Suggestion: It would be cool if you could make when you select on which days the alarm goes off to include a "once-off/one-time" option.
And the problem I have is my snooze doesn't work. When the alarm goes off and I tap on "snooze", the alarm stops, but it never goes off again. I have my snooze set to 5min, but it doesn't go off again after 5min.

Koush,
This might be asking too much, but I'll put this out there anyway.
In order for Omnia users to run HTC gsensor apps, we use a couple of intermediate drivers written by Speleomaniac (which can be found here: http://www.modaco.com/content/i900-general-omnia-rom-discussion/289951/htcemu-0-8/#entry1113169 ).
I have found that if I have these drivers installed, Klaxon crashes. The alarm screen opens (the screen that shows the snooze & off buttons), but before the alarm sounds the program crashes. I have tried disabling all of the options in your program that use the gsensor, but it doesn't make a difference. If I remove the HTCemu drivers, Klaxon works correctly.
Any chance you can come up with a solution for this?
Here is the information from Klaxon.txt (which doesn't show an error):

In order for Omnia users to run HTC gsensor apps, we use a couple of intermediate drivers written by Speleomaniac (which can be found here: http://www.modaco.com/content/i900-general-omnia-rom-discussion/289951/htcemu-0-8/#entry1113169 ).
I don't think it is neccesary since he wrote on his website that Klaxon is Omnia compatible. On mine it (2.0.0.29) runs with out problems. I have uninstalled the HTC dll's.

i know that the HTC dlls are not necessary for Klaxon; however, I need them for other programs. Currently, each time I want to run one of those programs I have to install the drivers, run the program, and then uninstall the drivers. If I forget to uninstall them my alarm won't go off in the morning.

salut!
first: thank you for excellent alarm clock! integration with shell is superb too.
i have two question here:
1)inertial scrolling of hour:minutes is way too intensive. a slight gesture rolls at least 20-40 minutes. could it have "more friction"?
2)i feel somehow uncomfortable having to press several times to get into alarm: i must stare at alarm list, press to select one, then look for edit button
could it be simplified? quite hard to do that when you fall asleep.
may be this logic could be more pleasant?
*pressing at alarm goes to editing
*holding finger at alarm will bring options edit/delete
*pressing minus would wait for selection which alarm to delete.
my gizmo is HTC T8282.

Will this app works only with G-Sensor phones?
I've an old HTC Polaris (WM 6.1) and everything works well except the screen page of all alarms (after creating my alarm i see a black screen)
PS: excuse me for my poor english.

Have used the Klaxon 2.0, its really great, only have one problem, i use the lock, so wen the alarm rings i have to unlock the phone and then click on snooze, which is very painful. with the Default windows alalrm, i dont have to, but the limitation there is that everytime the alarm rings i have to choose the mts for snooze, by then i am already awake. Also cant play my MP3 in the default windows alarm. Please help, is there any way i can config the default windows alarm to play my MP3 and also preset the snooze time for every alarm

Nice application ! Work great ! But have the same pb as mentionned : Lock screen has to be disabled when the phone rings ;)
Also it will be cool to have a random mp3 ring (like G-Alarm).

I have 5 alarms active on different days and at different time during the week,
It would be nice to have backup option for your settings
I couldn't find the reason why It does not ring in the morning some days.
But I find a trick; I open the application and just simply close it every night before i go to bed. and it works.

Just wanted to add that despite the developer no longer updating KLAXON, it works consistently on my HTC HD2.
Also, in conjunction with SSMaHo (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=493810), it seamlessly replaces the Windows Mobile built in alarm.
I am using an alternative skin I developed that addresses some of the issues I found with the original skin:
Changed the confusing images on buttons to text
Changed the 'glowing' attribute on a pressed button to a 'pointer' indicator
Removed some superfluous pressed button indications
Removed unnecessary use of colour
Standardised use of the 'radio' select buttons to the square 'check box' format
Made the SNOOZE and OFF buttons on the Alarm screen more user friendly
To use this skin, just unzip and copy the MySkin folder to the KLAXON directory on your device. It will then be available to select under SETTINGS
This skin has only been tested on my HTC HD2, so I can't guarantee that it will display OK on other devices.

Interesting (although I am not seeing myself going back to Klaxon any time soon - or ever).
BTW, instead of SSMaHo (great tool, helped beta testing it), you could use Cookie's Home Tab to do the same thing (along with a way better home tab).

Hi,
I've been using ageye's gAlarm since a long time, but finally it kept on crashing w/o any evidence... and did not get to manage cron-type alarm w/o crashing too.
I did look for a decent replacement and I discovered Klaxon. Nice and simple tool, that I decided to try.
Halas, it does not work well, I did manage to get ONE TIME the alarm working.
It seems that the program is crashing too. I cannot say if it is for the same type of reason, because I'm not in Windows Mobile hints and tricks, but here is what I constantly get, and my "klaxon.txt" log : see attachments below.
I can remember that gAlarm was crashing since the very beginning of WM loading, that was sucking down my whole memory. That is why I was forced to stop using it and uninstall it.
That does not happen w/ Klaxon : at loading of WM (soft reset) everything goes fine and smoothly. I can open Klaxon w/o any problem and set up and alarm. But this alarm does not show up at the specified time and I get the type of error that I've posted.
I've even try to uninstall Klaxon from my storage card to install it again on main device memory, but nothing changed.
Here are some details : HTC HD2, official ROM (last update) WM6.5; .Net Framework is 3.5 (last update I think); main apps that are automatically loaded : CoOkie Home Tab 2.0 and a bunch of official widgets (clocks, weather...), ChangeScreen, BattClock.
WM built-in alarms are all disabled (no day selected, hour at 0:00); in Klaxon : "forcibly remove Windows alarm" is *not* checked, "integration with TouchFlo3D" *is* checked.
Can you help me please ? I'm afraid that there is another reason that Klaxon to let it happen, maybe in my whole system ?
Regards.

Hi again, after a good night, I've got some ideas to test and I've perhaps found something interesting.
I've unchecked both "forcibly remove W alarms" and "integrate in TouchFlo".
I've got myself to W alarms and put all ones to 0:00 w/ no day selected and no title.
I've fired up Co0kie Home Tab Editor and gone to Applications sections to put "Alarm" to default (no more Klaxon).
Then I have done a soft-reset and made a quicklink for Klaxon in Sense.
I've both checked back again "Forcible remove..." and "Integrate in ..." in Klaxon.
New soft-reset.
Without touching anymore the alarm notifier of Sense, I've launched Klaxon w/ the quicklink and set up an alarm.
Results :
- OK it works w/ default alarm
- OK it works w/ MP3 on my storage card
- no more error
Conclusion : CHT may interfere w/ Klaxon if you get this one to manage alarm in Sense.
Now I will make the same tests w/ gAlarm, just to be sure, even if I may keep Klaxon because of his simplicity (if cron-type alarm cannot work w/ gAlarm, I prefer staying back on a simpler app).
[EDIT]
Same thing w/ gAlarm, not hanging the WM start-up anymore and working as intended. I may report this in CHT thread when I have a little bit more time.
Regards.

I get the same error - most of the time.
It used to work everytime before I installed Cookie Home Tab (CHT). Now it crashed most of the time.
Means you can't rely on the alarm going off.
I love CHT but might have to remove it to see if it work properly again after doing that. Don't really want to remove CHT.

Hey just wanted to drop a line since this is the ultimate smoothest piece of work I've seen on WM6.5 so far.
I uninstalled klaxon a week ago and checked a few other options (looking for one that would have the "increasing volume" option), whereas all of them (including GAlarm) crashed my device (running S2U2 and CHT2.0).
Good job really! One of those that make sense of using WM :].
