TO DO:
Support for multiple languages.
Looking for more ideas to help improve this application!
Version 2.0.0.29
Updated Klaxon to support Samsung Light Sensor
Fixed issue with device not waking up from sleep to sound alarm.
Version 2.0.0.24
Re-enabled the code that forcibly removes the Windows alarm (May cause issues with some phones).
Please use the regular download link or AppToDate (did not make a blog entry about this minor change).
Version 2.0.0.23
Removed the upper right default "ok" button from the OpenFileDialog. This prevents users from hitting Ok and closing the dialog when no file has been selected.
Reverted previous change to "dismiss" Windows alarms. This was causing issues on mine and other devices in that the Klaxon Alarm would never show up. In its place, Klaxon now prevents Windows Alarms from flashing, playing sound, or vibrating. The notification will still show up, but at least not it is completely benign.
You can no longer hit the Off or Snooze buttons while the phone's screen is powered off.
Klaxon will no longer start the OpenFileDialog in the Windows directory to prevent the device from hanging while all the files are listed.
Fixed Daylight Savings Bug!
I'm also looking for someone to design a skin or two for Klaxon, as well as a new icon! Please contact me if you are interested!
Version 2.0.0.21
Fixed crash bug that would happen when browsing a directory filled with many sound files.
Changed the Klaxon icon to something nicer looking. (Requires restart, Windows Mobile caches icons)
The OpenFileDialog now shows the appropriate size folder icon for your resolution.
Version 2.0.0.20
Added Volume control option for alarm under Settings.
Fixed intermittent bug where Samsung G-Sensor exception went uncaught, causing an exception.
Version 2.0.0.19
When integrating with Home Screen, Klaxon now cancels all Windows alarms upon firing an alarm.
Turning off the screen when snoozing is now an option in settings.
Klaxon will now ask for confirmation if you try to create or edit an alarm that is set as disabled. Some users were accidentally disabling the alarm and pressing OK, and the alarm would obviously not go off.
Version 2.0.0.17
Skinning support implemented, sample skins will be released soon.
Completely stripped out the old Klaxon UI design and added QVGA support for the new skinnable UI.
Fixed bugs related to the new feature that allows you to disable sensors while snoozed.
Download and extract the new TestSkin (http://koushikdutta.blurryfox.com/TestSkin.zip) into \Program Files\Klaxon\TestSkin to use as a base to create your own skins. TestSkin looks exactly like the default Klaxon skin.
If you want to install the TestSkin, your directory structure should look like this image:
http://koushikdutta.blurryfox.com/KlaxonDirectoryStructure.jpg
Version 2.0.0.11
Added options to disable each sensor action while snoozed. For example, if your Flip action snoozes your phone, and you don't want to let it resnooze while snoozing (by just picking up your phone in some cases), check this box!
Added the ability to select a Windows Media Player playlist. You can find playlists in your \Playlists or \Internal Storage\Playlists folders. You can use Windows Media Player on your desktop to create and sync playlists.
When you snooze your device, the screen is automatically turned off to save power.
The default sound file is now \Windows\Alarm5.wav. It is not configurable in the UI yet, but you can configure it manually setting the \HKCU\Software\Klaxon\DefaultSoundFile value in the registry. (It does not exist by default, but Klaxon will use it if it is there.)
Version 2.0.0.9
Implemented About Box
Implemented the Snooze countdown on the alarm form.
On the Alarm List form, days that are not scheduled to start the alarm are now a darker color than they were before.
Fixed bug where deleting all the alarms would not remove the alarm from the TouchFlo Home Screen.
Fixed the sound looping bug once and for all! Found a not so well documented "loop" API hidden off the WindowsMediaPlayer.settings.setMode method.
Fixed bug where seconds showed up on the alarms in the list form and the alarm itself.
Version 2.0.0.6
Implemented new skin for the actual Alarm form.
Implemented 24 hour mode (on the reskinned version only)
Possibly fixed bug where wav files were not looping.
Fixed bug where editing alarms that took place on the noon or midnight hours were bugged.
Vibrations are now 150 and 300 ms instead of 500ms.
Windows Alarms are now schedule with no sound, so all the user may see is a notification (if Home Screen integration is enabled)
Fixed bug where One Time alarms did not show up on the Home Screen.
Version 2.0.0.5
If you have a 480x640+ screen, you will see the new UI. It's pretty. Still have to skin the alarm form, but besides that, it is done.
Possibly fixed bug where Klaxon would stay resident in memory.
The number controls are now gesture based: you can flick them and they will scroll through their range quite rapidly!
You can now preview the alarm using the play button. (Only available in the new UI)
Using Klaxon is pretty straightforward; it's more or less like the standard Clocks and Alarms application.
You can download Klaxon (http://www.koushikdutta.com/search/label/Klaxon)from my website.

Great work :D
Is this a replacement for the WM alarm/clock or just something on top of it?
What I would like to see:
- a TouchFlo 3D Clock layout when the alarm goes of with the current time and the alarm and snooze time posted, and a symbol that indicates if an alarm is set up or not
- allow it to have multiple alarms to set up
I have attached an image how it could look like :)
(the settings remain as yours... or Touch Diamond Style like in the com manager :D)

Ok, so ive been testing it a bit this morning and discovered some bugs.
1. Cant delete alarm, nothing happens when you press the delete option.
2. If you go in to chose a alarmsignal and end up pressing Done before you find a signal, you end up back where you started without the option to change the signal, so you have to start all over making a new alarm.
3. If your screen is turned off, the alarm doesnt go off. But as soon as you press the powerkey the alarm starts..I would call this the main issue that should be fixed first.
Question: What is required to make it go to snooze? If you have the phone in your pocket while walking will it turn to snooze just by a little nudge?
Would be good if it would require a good shake ;)
Ill keep testing! Great work mate

Great alarm clock!
But it would be nice with a working one ;)
I have it on the table facing up and it sounds for like a 10th of a sec, then it goes to snoozing...
Little buggy right now ... but I really like the idéa!
Great work!!

Wow!!!
This will be perfect when it's finished! I had a similar app on my N95 and was thinking it would be a perfect addition to my Diamond.
I will test it but until I know it works while I am awake I don't think i'll risk as an alarm to get me up in the morning. I don't think work will be sympathetic to me being late due to testing new software for my phone :)

Wow! Very nice App! Wanna have!
But following improvements would be nice:
- Finger friendliy configuration. I hate the original alarm settings.
- Possibility to select the predefined sounds with a combo box. It needs much time to select a file in de windows directory by browsing. And additional possibility to browse for an mp3 file.
- Possibility to configure or enable/disable the tilt behaviour
Bugs:
- The phone wakes up and goes back to standby after 2 seconds, the sound stops too. Pretty like NisseDILLIGAF described it. Perhaps its because of S2U2 (I've 1.10b)?

I had the same issue. I set the alarm and waited for it to go off and it did nothing until I pressed the power button to turn the screen back on.
Also once it did finally go off I turned the phone over and nothing happened.
As for editing alarms - as someone menioned once you create an alarm you can't delete it at the moment.
I look forward to an update. :)

first off all thanks for a great application.
installed it and got some bugs also:
if display is turned off the alarm doesn't go on until i press power button and turn display on, the alarm goes for 1 sec and then is put on snooze. the delete function works ok and +1 for me for a finger friendly config. it's very hard to select the days :)

VERY GOOD!... i have another idea relating this app....
you can make a screen with something (like tewwter) who disable the alarm.
I think the 80% of the people will do an automatic gesture while sleeping to deactivate the alarm: If a guy is obliged to follow, for example, a combo (random) of unidirectional shake, it is awake enough, ant the alarm can be sutdown ;)
So, my pda ring, i flip it face down and it snooze the alarm; if i want to DEACTIVATE IT, some arrows in a random way, tell you where shake the phone and the alarm si deactivated.
Obiouvsly the arrows are an example, can be made something of different.

split the screen in to 3 boxes - randomly name them '1', '2' and '3' - press order to deactivate alarm ;)
just the first to cross my mind - I also don't like the idea of shaking to disable....

Yes but, if we have an accelerometer... we have to use it!
Ok, shaking is "too dangerous" but i think tilting the diamond 3 times (in a random combination) is not too dangerous, and it makes MORE EFFECT (or the app, with 1-2-3 button tap, is a common PDA application)
....however see Here (http://item.rakuten.co.jp/keitaistrap/300-524055/) :D

How about gestures on screen, like zooming on album, could we use those as well?
btw. the original idea came from a alarmclock that you could throw to the wall to silence it... it was shaped as a grenade, but unfortunatelly it was not strong enough to endure my morning moods

Fantastic potential in this program.
I have a problem though. When the alarm starts ringing, it only plays like 1 sec and goes to snooze. I'm using the original Alarm-Dawn.wav. Any idea?

Same as others, I see amazing potential in this application once bugs are squashed. One thing that this could use is ability to work in background with minimum of resources, same as wince original alarm clock and automatic start up without me putting shortcut in autostart.

Thanks for the feedback all! I'm starting work on fixing the bugs. The two main ones I see are:
The alarm automatically snoozes itself (I know why this can happen on some people's devices and have the fix done)
The alarm needs to turn on the screen so the sound is audible. (Need to look into how to do this)
czguy: You don't need to put a shortcut to autostart it. Once you set an alarm up, it schedules itself to automatically start on its own. It will continue working, even if the device reboots.

If flipping over the unit 'snoozes' the alarm, what do you do once the alarm goes off again if the phone is already face down?

Flip it again :) As in, if its face down, make it face up, and vice versa. I think this worked for me in the morning, Now im thinking about it im not too sure.

I used to do this with my bedroom lights hooked up to a home automation system. I beleive it works when you have a strong light that will overcome any ambient light coming through the curtains. However i dont think the backlight of the phone will do crap all unless you have the phone stuck to your face.

Hi Koush,
Thanks for your good app :)
I have a comment is for more humanity. It should be:
- Flip your phone to turn the alarm off.
- Shake your phone to snooze.
And if the app can support multi alam (Difference time to alarm just like the WM6 alarm will be great!)
What did you think? Thanks again for you do in Diamond. :)

Hi,
I just installed and tested this app somewhat to how i currently use the original alarm functions on WM6.1.
What strikes me is that with the device locked and the screen off, the alarm does not go off untill you manually unlock the phone.
Would like to see the program wakes and unlocks the device itself on a alarm.
The switching for a snooze works great when going from faceup to facedown, other way around does not seem to work for my device.
One other thing is that when configuring an alarm, the keypad does not get activated when you put focus on one of the input fields.
Last thing i encountered is the high sensibility for shaking. I would prefer that you really have to shake the phone instead of gently moving it around.
Ill be watching the progress and am anxious for the next releases :)

I think 1 flip=snooze, anything more than a flip, ie. moving the phone in anyway for more than a couple of seconds or flipping it twice or any button press or screen tap or slide, if you are using S2u2, should kill the alarm completely. Also a flip could just mean pick up and put down. Hope that is clear.

Thanks for all your feedback everyone. I managed to track down the bug where the alarm would not fire immediately if the device was in "sleep" mode.
I released a new version of Klaxon which you can download here (http://www.koushikdutta.com/2008/07/new-klaxon-release.html).
Fixes and features include:
Fixed the bug where the alarm would not immediately fire if the device is in "Sleep" mode.
Fixed a bug where the screen would not light up when the alarm fired.
Introduced a new Audio Delay feature. Klaxon will now try to wake the user using only the back light for the designated time period. If the user does not snooze or turn off the Klaxon, the alarm will then go off.
AppToDate support.

I really think this could be the standard app for my diamond!
A few notes ...
It's to easy to shake the phone too turn off the alarm .. should be something more 'controled?', difficult ...
And if you happen to roll over in bed (I'm thinking of a wakeup alarm) accedently shaking the phone while snoozing it turns the snooze off... not good.
Thanx for a killer app.. :)
Will try it out some more ... and give some feedback...

I just put the Light Sensor shut off in as well. How it works:
Before Klaxon starts the alarm, it uses the light sensor to get measure the current light. If it light gets brighter than a specified threshhold, it will shut off the alarm.

Koush,
Excellent progress. You'll soon get my donation.
Four requests (if possible):
1. Please make the application allow us to choose whether turning the device on its back should snooze, or shut down.
2. Please!, make the editing screen finger friendly. Right now setting the alarm is a chore.
3. If it is possible, let us launch the application by touching the clock on the TODAY screen (right now touching it launches the horrible MS alarm clock).
4. Right now in order for the alarm to be heard, the system volume can not be set to Silent. Can you please allow us to be in Silent mode, and make the alarm still to be heard ? (if the system volume is not in Silent mode, the phone could suprise in all sort of rings during the night...).
Thank you very much for this!

1. Working on that now
2. Working on that now as well
3. This is possible via the link mentioned in the aforementioned post. However, I do not feel comfortable putting this into Klaxon, because from what I understand, the way SSMaPa does it is by editing Manila.exe. That's going to be error prone and risky from ROM to ROM. You're more than welcome to do it yourself!
4. Good catch on this bug! I implemented the volume change this evening and will post a new release sometime tomorrow with that change and hopefully others.

Won't shaking clash with programs like Diamond Profile Switcher (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=406769)?
Great initiative... Maybe vibrate should be an option, so it would use this sequence to wake you: Backlight - vabration - sound.

But getting back to my idea of using net-streams to wake up...
Maybe it would be easier to implement (and even more flexible for users) to have the option of calling a program on wake up?

Your app is working great so far.
MP3's playing fine. Disabling and Snoozing by movements works. but if i want to snooze, the alarm won't go off again after the snooze-time
EDIT: It looks like Klaxon is terminated or terminates itself when the screen switches off. I tried adding to the exclusive list, but that didn't work either.
Anyway, I'm looking forward to further releases

For me it was also never possible to snooze  Everytime it goes somehow off... Plus, although i write #window(Klaxon.exe) in GSen, the program is not excluded... everytime i face down the phone, the screen shuts itself off as GSen commanded so...
One more Plus, everytime i shake my phone, i feel like i am damaging it :( so i really don't wanna shake it when i wanna switch off the alarm... Any other possibilities? (i am also afraid that taking phone into hand to turn over MIGHT be understood as it is "shaked" ?? and alarm goes off although i am expecting a second alarm after a 5min snooze... Because i usually keep my eyes close during switching my alarmclocks into snooze mode... :p

Well, one of problem with "face downing" the phone is that makes the light sensor then thinks that the room light was turned off. I'm trying to think of a good way to handle this, because I really like the light sensor shut off. I think the proper fix is to not allow the light sensor to shut the phone off if the phone is face down.

I put in the UI changes and it's looking a lot better now. It's still not as nice as I'd like, but I'm working on that too.
I put in the configurable settings for each action: shake, flip, light.

Dear Koush,
actually this light-off thing is awesome!! I can turn off my alarm just only switching my light on! I love it... it also guarantees to wake me up ;)
but i was thinking, the loop ends only if the lumen value is higher than the previous value. it is not how it works? and can you please also the threshhold adjustment for the light sensor go off mechanism?? Because if the room has already little bit lightened with sunlight, switching on my reading lamp will not help Klaxon to understand that the user has already "enlightened" the room... Thanks... You deserve all donations...

http://www.koushikdutta.com/2008/08/another-klaxon-release.html
As promised, I implemented more bug fixes and features for this release.
The light sensor will only turn off your alarm if the phone is face up. This fixes the issue where the alarm gets shut off if the phones if flipped face down to snooze.
If the phone is snoozing, a sensor can not be used to turn the alarm off. The off button must be manually pressed. This is a precaution to ensure the phone doesn't get erroneously turned off.
The shake off function is implemented differently now: if at any point, the phone is subject to 20 G's of force, it will turn off. Previously, it was using an orientation count. The G measurement method is much more reliable.
As a silent confirmation, the phone will vibrate once if you put it into Snooze mode. It will Vibrate twice if you turned it off.
All the sensor actions are configurable: you can now manually configure what you want the alarm to do when you shake it, flip it, or turn on the light.
Implemented some of the UI clean up changes. This includes bigger Vista style check boxes and radio buttons.
Implemented an About box which gives you information about your Klaxon version and the author.
Fixed a bug where the registry entries were not being deleted properly when an alarm was deleted.
Fixed a bug where the device would go to sleep after a Snooze and not wake up to alarm the user.
Fixed a bug where the Delay setting was not being saved after editing it.

My feedback: snooze-alarm is working now. I'm quite happy with klaxon.
The only thing that doesn't work for me is shaking to turn the alarm off. If I shake a little bit from left to right the alarm is snoozed. If I keep on shaking the vibration feedback is going nuts and keeps on vibrating all the time until is switch the alarm off.
Anyway it's a great programm. thank you for a light weight alarm with mp3 function. I waited for this a long time.
Best regards

amazing soft Im using for now because of some alarm problems with ROM... I like the UI posted above ...Im using flip action instead of shakeing which isnt so reliable for me because there is no option to set the sensibility but its not your problem
so THX and keep awesome work!!!
edit: one problem here...when I set alarm sound it starts to play ....for someone it could be good to know what he choose but at work its quite disturbing especially with lag so an option to disable this funkcion will be great...also no everybody starts week with sunday (at least some european countries) so option to set first day of week would be nice...THX Ill keep to testing it
edit2: seconds are useless for me in the matter of seting alarm time if its for some reason pls provide option to disable it....I know I know Im like poison when testing something :)
edit3: another request when I flip phone alarm off and it would be great to automaticaly turn off aplication to see today screen or sleep phone at least as option ;)

Also you must do something with the sound. It goes to max and dont turns back. I dont want the max sound. Can you do something with that;

Thanks Koush for this very nice alarm.
The Touch UI in this post realy looks awesome.
I have tried your alarm and have few notes:
1-I noticed that for each new alarm I have to chose a sound file. It would be more convenient to put this option in the Settings page for those who would like to keep the same sound file.
2- Also, I have noticed that scrolling down in the Alarm page is so slow.
3- It would be nice to enable Editing of a previous alarm by clicking on it rather than doing that from the menu.
Great work !

I have a prob with the alarm:
1) I set up the alarm for a specific time.
2) I turn off all the G-Sen (Flip, Shake) and Light Sensor options to 'Nothing'
3) I put the device to sleep mode
4) When the alarm time comes the backlight turns on.
5) Then the device vibrates twice with Klaxon screen showing itself for a second and the alarm then turnes off.
Any ideas why?

Unfortunately I have no idea why that would happen... especially if you have all the sensors disabled. My next release will have log everything that happens in Klaxon, so I'll be able to track down the problem after you send me one of the Klaxon Log files.

Well I think your idea of main page is cool, I would just change colors + I would add the icon with ability to enable/disable the alarm. And also by clicking on time would take you to specific alarm settings.
Well I was also thinking if it was necessary to have unlimited number of alarms. Would not be enough to have 5? Just to suit into 1 page?

Excellent work, Tampiss. I agree with everything you've said.
Koush, if you can, please add the option to make the alarm a "one time alarm" (meaning without a need to provide which day it should go off). Some of us get up at different hours every day, so having to choose days each time is annoying (yes I can choose all days, and then just change the hour of this alarm every day, but then the last alarm will appear all day at the TODAY screen, kind of silly. Also, if I don't want an alarm the next day, and forget to disable the alarm, it will wake me up at the hour I woke up the last day, not good).

I am at work now :-), I'll have a look at it in the evening.
According new UI, I think it looks much better than before, yet few small changes needed :-) The font weight of "name", "enable" and "days" would be better normal (not bold).
Also naming "snoze", "expire" and "delay" is too big I guess :-)
Perhaps, also good to add "frame" around time settings to make it look nicer. Is it possible?

Hi Koush,
One more think regarding time setting. Attached image is split into each number of the time. It is easier and quicker to set up specific time.
http://www.tampiss.com/_other/xda/alarm/alarm3.jpg
The time is spilt into individual number, and each number is spilt to half to enable you to set + or -.
Your setting enables to change hours and minutes, but if you have to scroll from 35 minutes to 00, it takes quite a few clicks :-). If you could split 35 to two independent fields (same with hours), it would take much less clicks to get to 00.
Is that possible?

Koush, when I snooze the alarm, for some reason the screen won't turn off. For example, when I put the phone face down, the G-Sen app switches the screen off, but Klaxon immediately switches it back on. I don't know if it's a bug or a feature, but it sure is a battery life issue. I usually snooze 5-6 times, so that means my screen stays on for about an hour. If I turn the device off with a power button, the alarm gets cancelled. Also, is it possible to suppress the standard reminder notification balloon, that shows up at the time alarm goes off?
Please address this issue in future releases.
Update: Testing new version right now, seems like the issue is fixed.
Koush, another feature request. :) Is it possible to implement an auto-snooze feature and make it user-configurable? When an alarm goes off, it snoozes automatically after X minutes of user inactivity for a period defined in alarm settings ("Snooze (Min)"). Also is it possible to get an "Unlimited" option for the "Expire" setting? Thanx in advance.

This is really a great work Koush ! (version 1.0.0.28)
The UI is now much nicer.
There is still some bugs, as I was trying it for some time today and tried snoozing couple of times and putting the alarm off by shaking and also by turning the light on and was responding very will. Thereafter it stopped functioning. When the specified alarm time comes it either goes to the editing page showing the previous alarm icon and does not ring, or shows the alarm page (with snooze, off, buttons) but no sound, only vibrating twice each time. I could not set it back to function normally except after a soft reset.
As you suggested previously, a log file will be a good idea.
Thanks again for this amazing alarm.

Koush, it is indeed very important to give us the ability to change every digit of the hour separately, otherwise in order to add/subtract 30 minutes, we need to click on the screen 30 times (!), this in comparison to just 3 times, if we could control every digit separately.
Also, you can get rid of the AM/PM thing, and just go to a 24hour clock. Simplest design wins.

Tampiss, don't you think it will be preferable to add another box to the weekdays line, one that will give the option for a "one time" alarm ?, this way you don't have to think which day it's going to be tomorrow when setting the alarm. Maybe even simpler, if no day is selected, the alarm will be a "one time" alarm that will go off when the alarm hour arrives (this way there is no need to add another box).
(btw, Tampiss, I think you found the perfect work, only two days a week, and you can get up at 10:21...).

Thanks - one more thing:
Why not make it like this:
Snooze _____ min
Expire _____ min
Audio delay ____ sec
i like the idea of tabbing the time digits directly, but why then not use different, old electric alarm radio style?
You can make the "Audio delay" a bit separated: also add a button behind the file to play (for testing) or something similar.
The last of the three is neither my taste (sorry) nor offers it easy handling.
Color fade on buttons are always a bad idea, and make the snooze button bigger (waking me up always make me press only the screen without watching it) and separated. Please also add a sound feetback, when the alarm is fully closed (so you do not press the close button, but think U touched the Snooze).
What do you think:

Hi Koush,
Is it possible to set like this?
1) If the alarm have set any week day, Then this alarm is run by weekly.
2) If the alarm didn't set any week day, Then this alarm is run by once.
So we can get max. 5 weekly alarm and max. 5 run once alarm in one screen. I think this would be more flexible. :)
And make the light and shake thresholds configurable is a very good idea :)
But please also make the flip action configurable too. Maybe set how many times for flip is better. (180 degree = 1 filp, 360 degree = 2 filps). Because sometimes if you move the Diamond in horizontal move with great exertion. Diamond will feel this is a flip action :(
What did you think? :)

Is there a parameter I could pass to Klaxon to start it minimized or in the background?
Klaxon.exe /tray or something similar would be helpful.
Anyways, keep up the good work.

Why?? You don't need to let it open to play the alarm

Once you set up the alarm, you can close the Klaxon application. It will automatically start the program up at the correct time and sound your alarm. Klaxon does not need to be running for the alarm to fire (save memory!).

Hi Koush,
very nice and good applications. I have installed it and will try it out.
Maybe i can give you some inputs for further developments. The first points are
-) showing an icon (like file explorer) when entering a folder and the software is searching the files. e.g. when you enter the windows folder, it takes long till all files are filtered. someone can think the application hangs.
-) i miss an option to preview (or better prehear) the selected sound file
-) a seperate loudness selector would be nice. so the diamond's system sound level could be left very silent, and the wake up sound comes up loud
-) may be also a setting like rising sound level would be nice, so the sound starts very quiet and get louder and louder
-) when an alarm is set and the overview screen appears i would like to edit the alarm setting initialy by tipping on directly, not to select MENU -> EDIT
so long my first impressions

Hehe, I know all that.
I want to integrate Klaxon into one of my ROMs and it'd be really nasty to have to close it with each restart of the handset.
Hence my question.

update:
• removed PM/AM
• SUN as the last day of the week (SAT & SUN in red as weekend)
• Replaced "snoze" to "snooze"
http://www.tampiss.com/_other/xda/alarm/alarm_all2.jpg
Koush :-) are you able to do it?
I like Klaxon very much, and i like tampiss design a lot (agree with 24h, SUN the last day, SAT and SUN in red, in fact all his ideas :p)...
But i've got a few suggestion :
- looking at Basthet hack, i dislike the design, but i really love his idea to have different size for Snooze and Off : it prevents stopping the alarm when you just want to snooze with fingers ; and about placement, maybe a little Off on top, and a big Snooze at the bottom...
- Just a design suggestion for tampiss : for Off and Snooze, it would be wonderfull to have glassy buttons (just like tick boxes) -> it would make the whole interface look finished
BTW, you both did a great job !

This is really a great work Koush ! (version 1.0.0.28)
1.0.0.29
Fixed a bug with Klaxon not properly scheduling the next alarm when an alarm fires.

Grrr ! I had a bug i was about to report, that made my diamond not ringing after editing an alarm, but only vibrating twice...
But As I was about to use my little fingers to post, saw that klaxon was updated just a minute ago... And since the update, seems to have no more this bug...

Hi, the app is REALLY great BUT I have a problem with the sound level after the alarm has stopped:
If I'm in Vibrate mode when the alarm sounds and I stop it, then my phone goes into Normal mode with Ringtone level at 0%. This means I have to change this level back to my usual 80% everytime the alarm has rung...
Anything you can do for this?Yeah, I can make it restore the volume to the original setting after the alarm is finished playing.
Hello, with the new version the problem still exists (changes from Vibrate mode to Normal with sound =0%), but now the alarm doesn't even make any sound... There's just the screen alarm popping up, but no sound whatsoever...

I've tried this for a couple of days, and it seems great, but I'm having some problems/questions:
How exactly does Klaxon interact with the built-in alarms? Do they both use the same data? Does Klaxon have to be running for it to work? Does it have to have focus? What happens if an alarm is specified in Klaxon and Klaxon is not running at the specified time? Will the standard alarm take over?
Also a suggestion: Have a play button next to the sound selection link instead of playing the sound when it's selected.

It writes to the clocks and alarms settings so you can see the alarm show up in the home page of touch flo 3d. It does not use or read from those settings. It has its own area in the registry that it uses. (HKCU\Software\Klaxon).
No, Klaxon does not have to be running. You can completely exit the application, restart the device, or whatever. It will automatically start and show the alarm when it is time.
As I said, Klaxon does not need to be running to start, so it will start automatically. The standard alarm will not take over, since it does not use Klaxon settings.

I seem to be having a problem where both the Klaxon alarm AND and built-in alarm goes off at the same time (minus the delay which is part of Klaxon). Oddly enough, the built-in alarm uses the default sound and the Klaxon alarm uses the .wav file I selected.
Anyone else having this poblem?
I am using the newest 1.93.831.1 WWE ROM from HTC and the latest version of Klaxon, 1.0.0.29

Hi,
I wrote some days ago to report a bug. Precisely that the alarm went well only after resetting the device and for one time. If I set the alarm a second time without softresetting the device vibrate twice, without sound, and klaxon stop itself. I've made a little bit of "debug" :) and more precisely happens this.
If I stop the alarm manually, without using shake function, it's alright with the second alarm too. If I use flip function to stop alarm, it's alright. And the same if I use flip function to snooze. Only if I use the shake function to stop, when I set the alarm for the second time there is no sound and the device vibrate. If I use shake function to snooze once more it's alright. The bug seems related to the shake function used to stop alarm. Tomorrow I'll try to reproduce the bug and send you the log file.
Cheers

hm.. this is good but i have a small question.
what does the expire time do?:p
oh ya, whenever i set it to snooze i believe the klaxon screen will still be there. but because my phone is set to auto lock. is it possible to have klaxon to stop the phone from entering lock status? everytime when my phone is locked and the alarm sounds. and IF i wanna snooze again i have to go to task manager to maximize klaxon again and shake my phone. by the time i'm already awake.. hah

Hi Koush,
Please find attached my Klaxon.txt file.
As far as steps to re-create the error, i set the alarm as normal selecting "Alarm-Dawn.wav" as the sound. Snooze is set to ten minutes.
Shake action is set to Off, Flip action is set to snooze.
When the alamr goes off at 6am, i shake it. The alarm goes off, and it vibrates twice.
At 6:02am the alarm goes off again, hoever this time with a different tone (an echo'ing beep, not sure of the folw name) and WM shows an alarm notification down the bottom of the screen as per the regular WM alarms.
Strange thing is, and i have checked (this is also a fresh flash of the rom from Friday night) i have no other alarms set, so i have no idea where it is coming from.

I have the exact same problem !
I think I know why this bug happens. In order for Klaxon to show the time of the alarm on TF3D's Today screen, it must set the original WM6 alarm clock for the same hour as the one set with Klaxon (you can check this yourself by setting an alarm with Klaxon, and then entering WM6's alarm clock, you'll see that the alarm was set there too!). The problem arises because both alarms (Klaxon and WM6's) go off at the same hour. When they both go off at the exact same hour, only Klaxon's is heard because it has priority (or maybe they are both heard, but because they use the same sound file, you can't really tell it's two alarms and not one), but for the next snooze alert, you hear WM6's because it snoozes earlier (2 minutes, in comparison to Klaxon's 10), and I guess WM6's alarm clock is set to snooze with a reminder, hence the different sound when it snoozes after 2 minutes...

Noam is correct. To fix this, disable the alarms in Clocks and Alarms. Once disabled, do not use Clocks and Alarms anymore. If you ever enter it and hit "OK" that reschedules the standard clocks and alarms to run when Klaxon does.

Koush,
Any timescale for the next version of Klaxon ? :)
There is one big thing you should try to fix with Klaxon, sooner than other things => the ability to control every digit when setting the hour of the alarm. Right now it takes almost a minute of clicks to change the hour from 6:00 to 6:30... (30 clicks !, and because there is some pause period between clicks in which a new click doesn't register, it's 30 s-l-o-w clicks...:))
This is the only big functionality gripe I have with Klaxon after using this version since the day you posted it.
OTOH, from the very short list of donors, I can't blame you for lack of motivation to keep this project running fast... (even though I'm sure it was never just for the money...)

Yes, I have the same problem too. Annoying as hell (I got up 3 hours earlier today because of this bug).
I would like to add another bug (which I think might stem from the same root):
Everytime activesync syncs the hour with the Diamond (and actually change the Diamond's hour to a more accurate one), as a consequence Klaxon's alarm is set off, and WM6's alarm takes charge instead (it will be WM6 that will wake you up in the alarm hour you set with Klaxon).
In order to get this bug, do the following:
1. Go into "Clocks and Alarms" in WM6's settings. While there:
A. In the "Time" tab, change the hour (to whatever you like).
B. In the "Alarms" tab, tick off any alarm that is active.
C. Close "Clocks and Alarms".
2. Open Klaxon and set an alarm for 5 minutes from now (from the REAL hour).
3. Close Klaxon.
4. Connect Diamond to computer via Activesync.
Now, what will happen is the following: once the Diamond is connected to Activesync, the Diamond's hour will sync with the Desktop computer's hour. After 5 minutes when the alarm will go off, it will be the WM alarm, and not Klaxon's.

Really great app! Thanks. Hope you'll keep developing it!
When the alarm first sounds a shake does not snooze it. On the second snooze it will. Strange.
Also it has crashed my Diamond a couple of times and a couple of times when setting the alarm it exits without saving the changes. Had to soft reset.
I actually like the GUI of the alarm setting, but it's really slow to pick up screen presses. Could that speed up? And please - 24 clock for us Europeans!
I particularly like the way it plays with the built in alarm clock instead of running in parallel. Now if only the mentioned bug about reverting to the built in alarm clock is fixed! ;-)

Crackin bit of software, which nearly cost me a lot of money. Allow me to explain.
I usually get up about 5:30, my wife gets up at about 7:30. I always set my alarm volume to its lowest setting, which being a light sleeper always wakes me. I used Klaxon for the first time the other day and when the alarm went off it sound like an Air Raid siren !! I checked the volume setting which was on No. 3. I could have sworn I had set it to one. Oh well, my mistake. When I got home from work later that day my wife said that the alarm had also woken her and if it happened again she was going to divorce me. So when I set the alarm I made sure I set the volume to 1. Guess what ? I found out the Klaxon seems to set the minimum volume to 3, and I got an Air Raid siren as a wake up call ..... lol. Any way Im not getting divorced, seems she was joking, dammit.
Can anyone else confirm this, or am I going over old ground ( I did try to speed read the previous threads)

It's a very very great tool, but it's too loud!!! I tested the alarm and I sure will get a heart attack with volume set to maximum next morning ;)
Could you please set the alarm volume to the system volume? This would be great.
And the time setting should also work with the system keypad. It too much pressing with the fingers. Specially the minutes. Or you code it that you can change every number, that would speed up selecting the time.
Anyway, thanks for this great alarm clock!!!

I have uninstalled Klaxon but I still have the problem where the built in windows alarm volume automatically sets itself to level three when activated. Also something else I noted since uninstalling Klaxon is that even with the “Repeat sound” check box filled in the alarm settings, the alarm will only ring once. This means with a short duration alarm set, say rooster, you get a quick 2 sec burst and then that’s it.
Is this a by product of something that Klaxon has left behind and if so how do I reinstate my windows alarm functionality ? Anyone else had the same problems?
help .....

hi, since removing this app ive had a couple of probs. When the standard windows alarm sounds i get a couple of pop up boxes along the lines of "cannot locate klaxon on internal storage\etc". on a couple of occasions ive been unable to turn the alarm off and had to reset. also when the windows alarm goes off i dont get a "dismiss" pop up box anymore.

This alarm is working very well for me and it's a great app but i just have one problem. I normally schedule two alarms in the morning, one for 4:45 am and then another for 5:30 am. When the first alarm goes off at 4:45 am it also fires the normal windows alarm and the Klaxon alarm. The alarm at 5:30 am just fires the Klaxon alarm.
Anyone know why this happens and how to get it to only fire the Klaxon alarm all the time? I see that Klaxon automatically enables the windows alarm even when you disable it.

We all have problems with Klaxon activating the Windows alarm.
There is nothing to do for the momont except hope that Koush will return to develop this app in the future.

I really hope Koush is still going to support this app. I'd be happy to donate for a bug free version.
I have the issue where Klaxon just vibrates twice instead of sounding the alarm, so this morning I had the normal windows alarm set. When it went off the first thing I did was shake the phone to turn it off, was most annoyed when that didn't work :)

No, I haven't abandoned you guys... :)
As I said, I started a new job two weeks ago, and it's been really busy to say the least. But I have some free time this weekend and I've already fixed the major bugs:
Fixed bug where Klaxon immediately closes because it thinks it was shook when the alarm starts (bug in HTC G-Sensor being initialized). I haven't experienced this myself, but I think that is what is happening from the indiciation in the various logs I received.
Fixed bug where disabling an alarm does not actually disable it.
Made Home Screen integration optional: The "My Windows Alarm is firing with Klaxon" is tricky. This is happening because I tried to integrate Klaxon alarm with the HTC home screen. I am enabling the Windows alarm to simulate this, but not telling Windows so the Windows alarm does not fire. To get integration working properly, do the following:
Disable all Windows alarms.
Start Klaxon, and turn on the new setting to enable Home Screen integration.
DO NOT USE WINDOWS ALARMS ANYMORE! Using Windows alarms while trying to use Klaxon integration is what is causing the problem. If you MUST use Windows alarm WITH Klaxon, I would turn home screen integration off.
Klaxon now restores your original volume after the alarm is shut off.
Clicking the alarm now opens the Edit form.
Head over to the Klaxon home page (http://www.koushikdutta.com/search/label/Klaxon) to get the new CAB file.

Yes, the settings are supposed to be copied to Windows, but the alarm will not fire. That is how the home screen integration works; it looks at the windows alarms settings to decide what alarm to show on the home screen. You need to stop looking at the Windows settings, and it will not start. Just by opening the Windows settings, you are making it fire the Windows alarms.
When I say, "DO NOT USE WINDOWS ALARMS ANYMORE", that means you can't even start up the clocks application or it will schedule the Windows alarms.

it only has be fingerfriendly for the options you use when you wake up. So i guess you dont have to choose a mp3 song right before you wake up? Then that part of the program does not need to be fingerfriendly..
Anyway Thanks for this great program!
I tested the options and they work great!! even the light sensor. Only i dont think i will use it! But the snooze function is really nice!

well the first idea was to create a program (alarm) wich was fingerfriendly to: snooze and stop the alarm.
But I guess you what everything fingerfriendly. Also the explorer to choose an mp3 song.
I dont like that since larger buttons are ugly imo. And if you set your alarm for the next morning i dont see a reason to why you have to do that with fingerfriendly buttons, but that is just me.

Hiya Koush! nice app and im sure almost everyone here uses it as its much more reliable and better than the default alarm.
but i think you should save the daily updates from now until it gets a total makeover when you have time?
I mean i think people are like me right now. Not bothered to update it as we have a few times over the last few days for a minor tweak.
U could just save some time and release it when UI has been cleaned etc?
Just an idea

If you don't want to update it often, then don't update it... as you said the alarm works fine. I'll continue releasing features fixes at my own rate. It doesn't take any time to publish a CAB file to my website. Regardless, I barely have time to work on this project anyways, so you won't be seeing any updates till the next time I have a free weekend; there probably won't be a UI cleanup.

Hi,
I love everything about Klaxon.
However, almost everyday when I snooze or turn down the phone to snooze (which I set to be 7 mins), it goes into snooze.
However, a minute later, I get a small bubble "Reminder". Then I get another one, and usually I dismiss that and it's gone. What's up with this Reminder bubble?

It's the damn Home Screen Integration. Making the alarm show up in the TouchFlo 3D Home screen causes way too many problems: I have to schedule a simultaneous Windows Alarm to make it work. I need to figure out a way to make the next alarm show up in the home screen without the standard Windows alarm coming in and messing everything up.
