I am on the AT&T network in USA and often travel to Japan.
Do you guys think I can enjoy 3G speed with Telstra DIAM 130 in both countries?
AT&T operates 850MHz HSDPA network here and Japan operates 2100MHz.

You will see "H" when you are on Telstra's 3G 2100 Mhz network which is only in the metropolitan areas of capital cities.
Walshieau is certainly basing that claim on actual evidence. He has a Telstra DIAM130 850Mhz hardware, and I have the DIAM130 myself as well. I had a DIAM100 for 8 weeks then I got the DIAM130 850Mhz and believe you me, you will never get 850Mhz 3G working on a DIAM100 - I would have done it myself if it was at all possible.
Oh well i believe you my friend... time to sell my DIAM... any european want a cheap DIAM 100 ???

Has anyone yet managed to work out why the Bigpond homepage (wap.telstra.com/wap) displays differently when using a custom ROM?
I have searched high and low for an answer and I can only find suggestions that it is a registry setting somewhere... does anyone have solid details on how to regain the 'candied' homepage?

I would like to know the answer to that too....
I think it's related to a registry key that presents to bigpond what type of device/browser you are using, not sure what it's called. If doesn't match up with what Telstra have in it database, it defaults to a "non-Telstra" user page (ie external user).
will try to do some digging around here too.

its usually called browser agent, or client agent.
good luck :)

Is it possible to view registry settings from a ROM without actually installing it ? I would like to make comparisons with standard ROMs vs Telstra ROM to see the differences...
Failing this - can anyone still running the Telstra ROM tell me the values for HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Int ernetSettings\5.0\UserAgent

ok so here is the update....
i got of the phone with the actual helphelp tesltra tech support lady and we re added the telstra.internet access point, but we also added the proxy server 10.1.1.181 and hey presto, everything works! all telstra links, active sync and windows live! why couldnt they get this right out of the box?!?!
Hi All,
I've a stock standard Telstra HTC Diamond. If i implement the above will i be able to use Wifi instead off the 3 g system to check emails using the inbuilt email program. I live in a very poor reception area and would like to use the house wifi with out having to switch off the phone or any thing. My Tytn used to always use wifi if available
Sincere Thanks in advance

Ok finally figured this out.
Originally called Telstra and you were right not much use, they were baffled.
Anyway, the key is change the user agent within opera. First to find out your current user agent type In the address bar, type in www.whatismyuseragent.com???
I can't remember what mine was but it needs to be;
HTC_Diamond Opera/9.50 (Windows NT 5.1; U; en) P3720 UP.Link/6.5.1.3.0
The way to modify it is as follows;
In the address bar, type in
about:config
scroll down on the page to item User Prefs and click it
scroll down to custom user-agent and modify to the one above
scroll all the way down and save
thats it you're done, bigpond and foxtel will now work as it was meant to....
Enjoy.....
Also if you want to get internet explorer working with the bigpond page do this;
Modify the following registry item
\HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Security\Inter¬ net Explorer\User Agent\CustomBase
from - HTC_Diamond Mozilla/4.0
to HTC_P5530 Mozilla/4.0

File size is 101.85mb
RUU_Diamond_hTC_Asia_AUS_1.96.710.3_Radio_Signed_D iamond_52.29.25.12_1.00.25.05_Ship.exe
So if i've done the HardSPL + cooked rom, can I just run this update or must I do something else first?

Anybody else running hard-spl has this error while trying to install this ROM?
Anybody who is not from Asia/Australia area managed to install it?
Which version of Opera does it include?
If someone could possibly remove the IPL-SPL out of this ROM, that would solve the problem though.

Thanks for the feedback, but geographically, you do belong to the Telsta zone.
Any feedback from a European or American user who successfully installed this ROM?
The Opera version seems very old...
How about the perfs? Is this ROM fast and smooth compared to the stock ROM you've been running before?

I have also original Telstra's device and I've tried to update it as usual

It seems that we should try hard-spl to update from Telstra to 1.96...

To get your internet connections to work correctly with both Telstra pages, email and msn etc.
1. Call Telstra and activate your iphone APN
2. Set your APN to Telstra.iph
Only downside is that online billing only shows data connection duration and not how much you've downloaded. I personally have telstra.internet and telstra.iph both set up and simply switch whenever I wanna use the bigpond portal.
That way if I forget to change it back, emails still work. I couldn't get it working with the proxy settings from a previous post in the thread working at all.

We have found (as a corporate user of these phones) that some re-sellers in Australia are selling imported stock, mine for example was sourced from Singapore, however sold over the counter in Melbourne by a very reputable reseller near corner of Elizabeth & La-Trobe.
The give away was that the phone didn't actually have an Australian power adaptor in the packaging.
I'm guessing that these phones won't take this updated ROM without the HardSPL, so this leaves you with two choices:
1 - Contact HTC & ask what you should do, in the hope they have an answer
2 - Just apply HardSPL & install rom without issues (like many people have including myself)
Good luck!

But even then it won't work because HTC made it so you can only download the rom that your phone is branded with (in my case its telstra)

Is there a way to still keep access to the free bigpond content on a custom ROM?
I've had a custom ROM on my Telstra Diamond for months but never tried to access BigPond content.
Has anyone found a definitive way to get the free content working? And what pages do we get for free

If you want the regular Bigpond 'free to browse' homepage as per the branded ROM you need to follow the instructions here (taken from this thread):
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=2688822&postcount=260
I don't think this is needed to access the 'free content' though - I still had access to the site without the changes above but the page and links are all different and there's no notification about 'free content' or otherwise.

For those people in Australia using Telstra and wanted the 3.5G radio support, I finally got my hands on one that support the Telstra NextG HTC Diamond.
Base Rom: 1.38.841.5 WWE
Radio Rom: 1.00.25.06 (not the same version from previous post as this one is NextG specific)
I am sure most of the people would like to try this rom... if someone can show me the way the extract these roms I will be more than happy to post it for testing.

Testing scenario:
- In building with Telstra NextG In-Building Coverage
- http://www.ozspeedtest.com/bandwidth/ - Telstra Mobiles Mirror 3MB
- ROM: Duttys V4 - Not clean install, just normal usage and apps. Your results may differ.
- Flashed radios in between tests and soft reset.
- Telstra Diamond, DIAM130. 850MHz UMTS.
- 3 attempts at each download, speeds averaged.
- Plugged in using internet connection sharing, 1.8 Pentium M, Thinkpad X31.
- Also note I tested 2x Telstra data cards in another laptop and they got ~2.5-3.5Mb/s from the same base station - so there are many factors involved in this, but this was only to compare changes in the radio roms under same circumstances.
- All roms were downloaded from the Diamond Radio Roms thread.
==================================
Radios tested (in this order)
1.00.25.06 (Test 1 - my phone w/ Dutty Rom)
Signal ~59db
Average Speed 3MB file - 1.85Mb/s
1.00.25.06 (Seperate Test phone, running Stock Telstra Firmware & Radio)
Signal (Unable to check - didn't load software)
Average Speed 3MB file - 1.24Mb/s
1.08.25.20 (My phone w/ Dutty Rom)
Signal ~63db
Average Speed 3MB file - 1.26Mb/s
1.00.25.BS14 (My phone w/ Dutty Rom)
Signal ~61db
Average Speed 3MB file - 1.27Mb/s
1.00.25.08 (My phone w/ Dutty Rom)
Signal ~59db
Average Speed 3MB file - 1.26Mb/s
1.00.25.05 (My phone w/ Dutty Rom)
Signal ~62db
Average Speed 3MB file - 1.28Mb/s
1.00.25.06 (Test 2 - My phone w/ Dutty Rom)
Signal ~60db
Average Speed 3MB file - 1.81Mb/s
==================================
CONCLUSION:
1.00.25.06 looks to be the best option if you're looking for HSDPA and decent signal - this might be the tweaked one for Telstra 850MHz HSDPA.

I have been in contact with HTC Australia, with regards to problems with my own Diamond & they told me that: "We will be releasing a Telstra ROM upgrade on the last week of this month. You will be able to use that to upgrade the ROM on your handset."
Hope this helps clarify things...

I'm in the same situation myself, but if the post above is true about HTC releasing a new telstra ROM at the end of march that would make things alot easyer.
The current telstra ROM is pretty old, wouldn't surprise me if there updated ROM is still quite dated tho

ROM 1.38.841.5 WWE
Radio 1.00.25.06
And i was wanting to know if i am able to use other ROM's on my phone?
Haven't seen this written anywhere about this.
Thanks
Hey guys, I have a Telstra HTC Diamond, and have re-flashed it a number of times with no real dramas. Although I am not using it on the Telstra network, I am on Optus, and 3g seems to work fine.
The ROMs I have tried so far:
[ROM][WWE][2009.03.06][v3]PDACornerIllusion
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=484646
[WM 6.1] NEW SWIFTBL WWE DIAMOND ROM V7.5 (FULL VERSION) - CE OS 5.2.20755 (Build 20755 AKU 1
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=408109
And no probs with either. PDACornerIllusion flies I must say, and I found both very stable.
A huge improvement over the original Telstra shit.
I am really looking forward to a ROM with the new XBMOD tf3d2, will give that ago when its ready.

guys
i might need to send my HTC Diamond Telstra in for Warranty, having screen alignment issues where i have to re align every few hours.
Can someone provide me with a quick tutorial on how to revert it back to a stock Telstra Diamond?
I've downloaded the stock rom, and it flashes fine, but how do i revert back to stock SPL ?
1. Run this SPL - it's a stock 1.37 SPL, the stock Telstra one is 1.38. I've rar'd it ready to go.

2. Run the Custom RUU software and update as normal - the screen will go black almost instantly... leave it. Wait until it boots up again.
3. Re-flash again with the stock Telstra ROM you have, and the SPL will be upgraded to 1.38.
I did this only a couple of weeks ago to send it back for a screen replacement under warranty and had no dramas.

many thanks !
did you have to send it in to the authorised repair centre *FoneBiz* or did you just take it back to where you purchased it from? Just feel that its abit unfair if we had to pay for postage on our end for a faulty phone they provided us.
Also, how long did it approx take to fix it ?

I took it to FoneBiz, LCD display took about 5-6 business days to have replacement ordered & fixed. They also replaced the camera too... yet I had not reported issues with it.

I have been in contact with HTC Australia, with regards to problems with my own Diamond & they told me that: "We will be releasing a Telstra ROM upgrade on the last week of this month. You will be able to use that to upgrade the ROM on your handset."
Hope this helps clarify things...
I'd just like my Diamond to recieve phone calls & SMS...every now & then I'll get a call or recieve an SMS, but 90% of the time calls go to voicemail...then all of a sudden I will recieve a whole bunch of SMS at once....
Anyone have an update here?
You mentioned end of March - it is now almost end of April!!
Thanks...

And it's now May...
I just rang HTC's customer service centre. They span the usual "waiting for Telstra" line.
So I thought I'd ring Telstra. What a joke. The rude person I spoke to wouldn't give me any details because I couldn't confirm the company whos phone my account is under.
So maybe someone can call Telstra and ask them what the heck is going on?
I think I'm going to have to go down the non-oem path and flash a 3rd party ROM....

and today i was told by FoneBiz i had to pay $9 if i wanted my phone to be sent back, so they wanted to charge me postage to and from for warranty repairs. Top stuff FoneBiz *thumbs up*

Had a look on the HTC Aus site - 2.07.841.2 Rom 1.09.25.23 Radio is ready for download but very very slow.

I'm downloading now, and have found US download site is faster (much faster) than Asia download.
ROM version: 2.07.841.2
Radio version: 1.09.25.23
Improved Functions:
1. Whereis® Navigator is now preinstalled on the device.
2. TouchFLO 3DTM has been given enhanced stability.

Luckily enough I haven't had any of the major lag problems that others are experiencing... maybe 50-100m sometimes, but I've never used a dedicated GPS unit to know what is acceptable anyway
If you are getting lag, turn off the zillions of POIs you have enabled. ;)
